ਸਮੈ ਭਲੈ ਇਕ ਘਾਤ ਸਿਉ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਸਭ ਬਾਲ ॥

ਅੰਗ ਸਭੈ ਗਿਨਨੈ ਲਗੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਬਾਤ ਰਸਾਲ ॥੨੯੧॥
ang sabhai ginanai lagee kar kai baat rasaal |291|
On one occasion, all the girls (gopis) talking together sweetly began to describe various limbs of Krishna.291.

ਕੋਊ ਕਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਮੁਖ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕੋਊ ਕਹੈ ਸੁਭ ਨਾਕ ਬਨਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
koaoo kahai har ko mukh sundar koaoo kahai subh naak baniyo hai |
Someone says that the face of Krishna is captivating someone says that the nostril of Krishna is winsome
ਕੋਊ ਕਹੈ ਕਟਿ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਸੀ ਤਨ ਕੰਚਨ ਸੋ ਰਿਝਿ ਕਾਹੂ ਗਨਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
koaoo kahai katt kehar see tan kanchan so rijh kaahoo ganiyo hai |
Someone says with pleasure that the waist of Krishna is like a lion and some says that the body of Krishna is made of gold
ਨੈਨ ਕੁਰੰਗ ਸੇ ਕੋਊ ਗਨੈ ਜਸੁ ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
nain kurang se koaoo ganai jas taa chhab ko kab sayaam bhaniyo hai |
ਲੋਗਨ ਮੈ ਜਿਮ ਜੀਵ ਬਨਿਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਤਿਮ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਮਨਿਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੨੯੨॥
logan mai jim jeev baniyo tin ke tan mai tim kaanrah maniyo hai |292|
Someone gives the simile of doe for the eyes and the poet Shyam says that like the soul pervading the bodies of the human being, Krishna pervades in the minds of all the gopis.292.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕੋ ਪੇਖਿ ਕਲਾਨਿਧਿ ਸੌ ਮੁਖ ਰੀਝ ਰਹੀ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਬਾਰਾ ॥
kaanrah ko pekh kalaanidh sau mukh reejh rahee sabh hee brij baaraa |
Seeing the face of Krishna like the moon, all the girls of Braja are getting pleased
ਮੋਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਉਤੇ ਇਨਹੂੰ ਦੁਰਗਾ ਬਰੁ ਚੇਟਕ ਡਾਰਾ ॥
mohi rahe bhagavaan ute inahoon duragaa bar chettak ddaaraa |
On this side Krishna is allured by all the gopis and on this other side, because of the boon bestowed by Durga, gopis are feeling impatient
ਕਾਨਿ ਟਿਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅਉਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਜਸੁ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਾ ॥
kaan ttikai grih aaur bikhai tih ko at hee jas sayaam uchaaraa |
ਜੀਵ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਰਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਇਮ ਟੂਟ ਗਏ ਜਿਉ ਮ੍ਰਿਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਤਾਰਾ ॥੨੯੩॥
jeev ikatr rahai tin ko im ttoott ge jiau mrinaal kee taaraa |293|
In order to increase the impatient of the gopis, stays in some other house for some time, then the hearts of all the gopis cracked like the easy cracking of the chords of the tube of lotus.293.
ਨੇਹੁ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਇਨ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੌ ਅਰੁ ਨੇਹੁ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਇਨ ਨਾਰੇ ॥

The mutual love of Krishna and gopis continued increasing
ਚੈਨ ਪਰੈ ਦੁਹ ਕੋ ਨਹਿ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਪਲ ਨ੍ਰਹਾਵਨ ਜਾਵਤ ਹੋਤ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
chain parai duh ko neh dvai pal nrahaavan jaavat hot savaare |
Both sides are feeling restless and go to take bath several times
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਏ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਇਨੈ ਬਸਿ ਦੈਤਨ ਕੇ ਜਿਹ ਤੇ ਦਲ ਹਾਰੇ ॥
sayaam bhe bhagavaan inai bas daitan ke jih te dal haare |
Krishna, who had defeated the forces of demons earlier, has now come under the control of gopis
ਖੇਲ ਦਿਖਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਜਗ ਕੌ ਦਿਨ ਥੋਰਨ ਮੈ ਅਬ ਕੰਸ ਪਛਾਰੇ ॥੨੯੪॥
khel dikhaavat hai jag kau din thoran mai ab kans pachhaare |294|
Now is exhibiting his amorous play to the world and after a few days, he will overthrow Kansa.294.
ਉਤ ਜਾਗਤ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਇਤੈ ਗੁਪੀਆ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਹਿਤ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਾ ਕੇ ॥
aut jaagat sayaam itai gupeea kab sayaam kahai hit kai sang taa ke |
ਰੀਝ ਰਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਪੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਪਿਖਿ ਨੈਨਨ ਸੋ ਫੁਨਿ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹਰ ਬਾਕੇ ॥
reejh rahee tih pai sabh hee pikh nainan so fun kaanrahar baake |
The poet Shyam says that on one side the gopis are keeping awake and on the other side, Krishna does not get a wink of sleep at night, they are pleased to see Krishna with their eyes
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਛਕੀ ਨ ਪਰੈ ਇਨ ਕੋ ਕਲਿ ਕਾਮ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਤਨ ਵਾ ਕੇ ॥
prem chhakee na parai in ko kal kaam badtiyo at hee tan vaa ke |
They are not satisfied merely with love and the lust is increasing in their bodies
ਖੇਲਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਤਹਿ ਕਾਲ ਭਏ ਹਮ ਨਾਹਿ ਲਖੈ ਹਮ ਕੈ ਜਨ ਗਾ ਕੇ ॥੨੯੫॥
kheleh praateh kaal bhe ham naeh lakhai ham kai jan gaa ke |295|
While playing with Krishna, the day dawns and they are not conscious about it.295.
ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਭਯੋ ਚੁਹਲਾਤ ਚਿਰੀ ਜਲਜਾਤ ਖਿਰੇ ਬਨ ਗਾਇ ਛਿਰਾਨੀ ॥

The day dawned and the sparrows began to chirp
ਗੋਪ ਜਗੇ ਪਤਿ ਗੋਪ ਜਗਿਯੋ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਜਗੀ ਅਰੁ ਗੋਪਨਿ ਰਾਨੀ ॥
gop jage pat gop jagiyo kab sayaam jagee ar gopan raanee |
The cows were driven to the forest the gopas have awakened, Nand has awakened a d the mother Yashoda has also awakened
ਜਾਗ ਉਠੇ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਕਰੁਨਾਨਿਧਿ ਜਾਗਿ ਉਠਿਯੋ ਮੁਸਲੀਧਰ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
jaag utthe tab hee karunaanidh jaag utthiyo musaleedhar maanee |
Krishna also awoke and Balram also awoke
ਗੋਪ ਗਏ ਉਤ ਨ੍ਰਹਾਨ ਕਰੈ ਇਤ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਚਲੇ ਗੁਪੀਆ ਨਿਜਕਾਨੀ ॥੨੯੬॥
gop ge ut nrahaan karai it kaanrah chale gupeea nijakaanee |296|
On that side, the gopas went to take bath and on this side Krishna went to gopis.296.
ਬਾਤ ਕਹੈ ਰਸ ਕੀ ਹਸ ਕੈ ਨਹਿ ਅਉਰ ਕਥਾ ਰਸ ਕੀ ਕੋਊ ਭਾਖੈ ॥
baat kahai ras kee has kai neh aaur kathaa ras kee koaoo bhaakhai |
The gopis are smilingly busy in amorous talk
ਚੰਚਲ ਸ੍ਰੀਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਮੋਹਿ ਤਿਨੈ ਬਤੀਆ ਇਹ ਆਖੈ ॥
chanchal sreepat ke apune drig mohi tinai bateea ih aakhai |
Alluring the agile Krishna with their eyes gopis say like this
ਬਾਤ ਨ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੋ ਰਸ ਕੀ ਰਸ ਜਾਨਤ ਸੋ ਨਰ ਜੋ ਰਸ ਗਾਖੈ ॥
baat na jaanat ho ras kee ras jaanat so nar jo ras gaakhai |
“We do not know anything about any other, but this much is surely known to us that he, who drinks the sap, only knows the worth of sap
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪੜੈ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕੜੈ ਰਸ ਰੀਤਿਨ ਚੀਤ ਸੁਨੋ ਸੋਈ ਚਾਖੈ ॥੨੯੭॥
preet parrai kar preet karrai ras reetin cheet suno soee chaakhai |297|
The depth in love comes only when one falls in love and one feels pleasure in talking about the essence.297.

meet kaho ras reet sabai ham preet bhee sunabe bateea kee |
“O friend! we went to listen about the essence
ਅਉਰ ਭਈ ਤੁਹਿ ਦੇਖਨਿ ਕੀ ਤੁਮ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਮਰੀ ਛਤੀਆ ਕੀ ॥
aaur bhee tuhi dekhan kee tum preet bhee hamaree chhateea kee |
Make us understand the mode of realising the essence we want to see you and you love the nipples of our teats
ਰੀਝਿ ਲਗੀ ਕਹਨੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਹਸਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਾਤ ਇਸੀ ਗਤੀਆ ਕੀ ॥

ਨੇਹ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਭਈ ਮੋਛਨ ਹੋਤਿ ਇਤੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਸੁ ਤ੍ਰੀਆ ਕੀ ॥੨੯੮॥
neh lagiyo har so bhee mochhan hot itee gat hai su treea kee |298|
The gopis talk such-like things with Krishna and such is the condition of those women that they are becoming unconscious-like in the love of Krishna.298.

ਬਹੁਰ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਬਨ ਕੋ ਗਏ ਗਊ ਸੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਨਨ ਚਰਾਨ ॥੨੯੯॥
bahur sayaam ban ko ge gaoo su trinan charaan |299|
After voluptuous play with the gopis and taking bath Krishna went to the forest to graze the cows.299.
ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਸਰਾਹਤ ਤਰਨ ਕੋ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਆਗੇ ਗਏ ॥
krisan saraahat taran ko ban mai aage ge |
ਸੰਗ ਗ੍ਵਾਰ ਜੇਤੇ ਹੁਤੇ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਭੂਖਿ ਭਏ ॥੩੦੦॥
sang gvaar jete hute te sabh bhookh bhe |300|
Praising the beautiful women, Krishna went further and the gopa boys who were with him, became hungry.300.

ਪਤ੍ਰ ਭਲੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸੁਭ ਫੂਲ ਭਲੇ ਫਲ ਹੈ ਸੁਭ ਸੋਭ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥
patr bhale tin ke subh fool bhale fal hai subh sobh suhaaee |
The leaves of those trees are good,
ਭੂਖ ਲਗੇ ਘਰ ਕੋ ਉਮਗੇ ਪੈ ਬਿਰਾਜਨ ਕੋ ਸੁਖਦਾ ਪਰਛਾਈ ॥
bhookh lage ghar ko umage pai biraajan ko sukhadaa parachhaaee |
Their flowers, fruit and shade are all good at the time of coming home,
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਤਰੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੇ ਮੁਰਲੀ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਕਰ ਮੋ ਮੁਖ ਸਾਥ ਬਜਾਈ ॥
kaanrah tarai tih ke muralee geh kai kar mo mukh saath bajaaee |
Krishna played on his flute under those trees
ਠਾਢਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਉਨ ਘਰੀ ਇਕ ਥਕਤ ਰਹੀ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਉਰਝਾਈ ॥੩੦੧॥
tthaadt rahiyo sun paun gharee ik thakat rahee jamunaa urajhaaee |301|
Hearing the voice of his flute, the wind seemed to stop blowing for a while and Yamuna also got entangled.301.
ਮਾਲਸਿਰੀ ਅਰੁ ਜੈਤਸਿਰੀ ਸੁਭ ਸਾਰੰਗ ਬਾਜਤ ਹੈ ਅਰੁ ਗਉਰੀ ॥
maalasiree ar jaitasiree subh saarang baajat hai ar gauree |
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਸੁਧ ਮਲਾਰ ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਮੀਠੀ ਹੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਤੇ ਨਹ ਕਉਰੀ ॥
soratth sudh malaar bilaaval meetthee hai amrit te neh kauree |
Krishna plays on his flute the musical modes like Malshri, Jaitshri, Sarang, Gauri, Sorath, Shuddh Malhar and the Bilawal which is sweet like nectar
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਜਾਵਤ ਹੈ ਮੁਰਲੀ ਸੁਨਿ ਹੋਤ ਸੁਰੀ ਅਸੁਰੀ ਸਭ ਬਉਰੀ ॥
kaanrah bajaavat hai muralee sun hot suree asuree sabh bauree |
Hearing these Ragas, the heavenly damsels and the wives of demons all are getting fascinated
ਆਇ ਗਈ ਬ੍ਰਿਖਭਾਨ ਸੁਤਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਪੈ ਤਰੁਨੀ ਹਰਨੀ ਜਿਮੁ ਦਉਰੀ ॥੩੦੨॥
aae gee brikhabhaan sutaa sun pai tarunee haranee jim dauree |302|
Hearing the voice of the flute, Radha, the daughter of Brishbhan is coming running like a doe.302.
ਜੋਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਮ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਕਰ ਨਾਥ ਸੁਨੋ ਹਮ ਭੂਖ ਲਗੀ ਹੈ ॥
jor pranaam kariyo har ko kar naath suno ham bhookh lagee hai |
Radha said with folded hands, “O Lord! I am hungry
ਦੂਰ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਗੋਪਿਨ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਖੇਲਨ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਸੁਧ ਭਗੀ ਹੈ ॥
door hai sabh gopin ke ghar khelan kee sabh sudh bhagee hai |
The milk has remained back in all the houses of the gopas and while playing, I forgot everything
ਡੋਲਤ ਸੰਗ ਲਗੇ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਹਮ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਤਬੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਬਾਤ ਪਗੀ ਹੈ ॥
ddolat sang lage tumare ham kaanrah tabai sun baat pagee hai |
“I am wandering alongwith you
ਜਾਹੁ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮਥਰਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬਿਪਨ ਸਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਬਾਤ ਠਗੀ ਹੈ ॥੩੦੩॥
jaahu kahiyo matharaa grih bipan sat kahiyo neh baat tthagee hai |303|
” When Krishna heard this, the told all to go into the houses of Brahmins in Mathura (and bring something to eat) I am speaking truth to you, there is not an iota of falsehood in it.”303.

ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਤਿਨੑ ਕਉ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

Those who are attached to the hem of the Lord's robe, do not suffer birth and death.
ਜੀਵਤ ਸੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੋਏ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨਿ ਜਾਗੇ ॥
jeevat se paravaan hoe har keeratan jaage |
Those who remain awake to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises - their lives are approved.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਜਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੇਈ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ॥
saadhasang jin paaeaa seee vaddabhaage |
Those who attain the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, are very fortunate.
ਨਾਇ ਵਿਸਰਿਐ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣਾ ਤੂਟੇ ਕਚ ਧਾਗੇ ॥
naae visariai dhrig jeevanaa tootte kach dhaage |
But those who forget the Name - their lives are cursed, and broken like thin strands of thread.
ਨਾਨਕ ਧੂੜਿ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਸਾਧ ਲਖ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਿਰਾਗੇ ॥੧੬॥
naanak dhoorr puneet saadh lakh kott piraage |16|
O Nanak, the dust of the feet of the Holy is more sacred than hundreds of thousands, even millions of cleansing baths at sacred shrines. ||16||

ਧਰਣਿ ਸੁਵੰਨੀ ਖੜ ਰਤਨ ਜੜਾਵੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ॥
dharan suvanee kharr ratan jarraavee har prem purakh man vutthaa |
Like the beautiful earth, adorned with jewels of grass - such is the mind, within which the Love of the Lord abides.
ਸਭੇ ਕਾਜ ਸੁਹੇਲੜੇ ਥੀਏ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ॥੧॥
sabhe kaaj suhelarre thee gur naanak satigur tutthaa |1|
All one's affairs are easily resolved, O Nanak, when the Guru, the True Guru, is pleased. ||1||

Roaming and wandering in the ten directions, over water, mountains and forests
ਜਿਥੈ ਡਿਠਾ ਮਿਰਤਕੋ ਇਲ ਬਹਿਠੀ ਆਇ ॥੨॥
jithai dditthaa miratako il bahitthee aae |2|
- wherever the vulture sees a dead body, he flies down and lands. ||2||

Pauree:
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਫਲ ਲੋੜੀਅਹਿ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਉ ॥
jis sarab sukhaa fal lorreeeh so sach kamaavau |
One who longs for all comforts and rewards should practice Truth.
ਨੇੜੈ ਦੇਖਉ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥
nerrai dekhau paarabraham ik naam dhiaavau |
Behold the Supreme Lord God near you, and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the One Lord.
ਹੋਇ ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਵਉ ॥
hoe sagal kee renukaa har sang samaavau |
Become the dust of all men's feet, and so merge with the Lord.
ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਦੇਈ ਕਿਸੈ ਜੀਅ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਵਉ ॥
dookh na deee kisai jeea pat siau ghar jaavau |
Do not cause any being to suffer, and you shall go to your true home with honor.
ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਣਾਵਉ ॥੧੭॥
patit puneet karataa purakh naanak sunaavau |17|
Nanak speaks of the Purifier of sinners, the Creator, the Primal Being. ||17||

ਏਕੁ ਜਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੈ ਕੀਆ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥
ek ji saajan mai keea sarab kalaa samarath |
I have made the One Lord my Friend; He is All-powerful to do everything.
ਜੀਉ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਖੰਨੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਸੰਦੜੀ ਵਥੁ ॥੧॥
jeeo hamaaraa khaneeai har man tan sandarree vath |1|
My soul is a sacrifice to Him; the Lord is the treasure of my mind and body. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਜੇ ਕਰੁ ਗਹਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੜੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਨ ਛੋਡਾ ਮੂਲਿ ॥
je kar gaheh piaararre tudh na chhoddaa mool |
Take my hand, O my Beloved; I shall never forsake You.
ਹਰਿ ਛੋਡਨਿ ਸੇ ਦੁਰਜਨਾ ਪੜਹਿ ਦੋਜਕ ਕੈ ਸੂਲਿ ॥੨॥
har chhoddan se durajanaa parreh dojak kai sool |2|
Those who forsake the Lord, are the most evil people; they shall fall into the horrible pit of hell. ||2||

Pauree:
ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਘਰਿ ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
sabh nidhaan ghar jis dai har kare su hovai |
All treasures are in His Home; whatever the Lord does, comes to pass.
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਪਾਪਾ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਵੈ ॥
jap jap jeeveh sant jan paapaa mal dhovai |
The Saints live by chanting and meditating on the Lord, washing off the filth of their sins.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਹਿ ਸੰਕਟ ਸਭਿ ਖੋਵੈ ॥
charan kamal hiradai vaseh sankatt sabh khovai |
With the Lotus Feet of the Lord dwelling within the heart, all misfortune is taken away.
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਰੋਵੈ ॥
gur pooraa jis bhetteeai mar janam na rovai |
One who meets the Perfect Guru, shall not have to suffer through birth and death.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਘਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਵੈ ॥੧੮॥
prabh daras piaas naanak ghanee kirapaa kar devai |18|
Nanak is thirsty for the Blessed Vision of God's Darshan; by His Grace, He has bestowed it. ||18||

ਭੋਰੀ ਭਰਮੁ ਵਞਾਇ ਪਿਰੀ ਮੁਹਬਤਿ ਹਿਕੁ ਤੂ ॥
bhoree bharam vayaae piree muhabat hik too |
If you can dispel your doubts, even for an instant, and love your only Beloved,
ਜਿਥਹੁ ਵੰਞੈ ਜਾਇ ਤਿਥਾਊ ਮਉਜੂਦੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
jithahu vanyai jaae tithaaoo maujood soe |1|
then wherever you go, there you shall find Him. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:
ਚੜਿ ਕੈ ਘੋੜੜੈ ਕੁੰਦੇ ਪਕੜਹਿ ਖੂੰਡੀ ਦੀ ਖੇਡਾਰੀ ॥
charr kai ghorrarrai kunde pakarreh khoonddee dee kheddaaree |
Can they mount horses and handle guns, if all they know is the game of polo?
ਹੰਸਾ ਸੇਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਉਲਾਸਹਿ ਕੁਕੜ ਦੀ ਓਡਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
hansaa setee chit ulaaseh kukarr dee oddaaree |2|
Can they be swans, and fulfill their conscious desires, if they can only fly like chickens? ||2||

Pauree:
ਰਸਨਾ ਉਚਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਸੁਣੈ ਸੋ ਉਧਰੈ ਮਿਤਾ ॥
rasanaa ucharai har sravanee sunai so udharai mitaa |
Those who chant the Lord's Name with their tongues and hear it with their ears are saved, O my friend.
ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਲਿਖਹਿ ਲਾਇ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਸੇ ਹਸਤ ਪਵਿਤਾ ॥
har jas likheh laae bhaavanee se hasat pavitaa |
Those hands which lovingly write the Praises of the Lord are pure.
ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਮਜਨਾ ਸਭਿ ਪੁੰਨ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਿਤਾ ॥
atthasatth teerath majanaa sabh pun tin kitaa |
It is like performing all sorts of virtuous deeds, and bathing at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage.
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ਤੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਗੜੁ ਜਿਤਾ ॥
sansaar saagar te udhare bikhiaa garr jitaa |
They cross over the world-ocean, and conquer the fortress of corruption.
ਨਾਨਕ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ਉਧਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਦਯੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਅਮਿਤਾ ॥੧੯॥
naanak larr laae udhaarian day sev amitaa |19|
O Nanak, serve the Infinite Lord; grasp the hem of His robe, and He will save you. ||19||
