ਕੰਸਹਿ ਕੈ ਤਸਲੀਮ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਹੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਣਾਵਰਤ ਸੀਘਰ ਦੈ ਗੋਕੁਲ ਆਯੋ ॥
kanseh kai tasaleem chaliyo hai trinaavarat seeghar dai gokul aayo |
ਬਉਡਰ ਕੋ ਤਬ ਰੂਪ ਧਰਿਯੋ ਧਰਨੀ ਪਰ ਕੈ ਬਲ ਪਉਨ ਬਹਾਯੋ ॥
bauddar ko tab roop dhariyo dharanee par kai bal paun bahaayo |
Bowing before Kansa, Tranavrata quickly reached Gokul and transformed himself into a duststorm and began to blow with a great speed
ਆਗਮ ਜਾਨ ਕੈ ਭਾਰੀ ਭਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਤਬੈ ਵਹ ਭੂਮਿ ਪਰਾਯੋ ॥
aagam jaan kai bhaaree bhayo har maar tabai veh bhoom paraayo |
ਪੂਰ ਭਏ ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਮੂੰਦ ਕੈ ਲੋਕਨ ਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਭਿ ਕੇ ਮਗ ਧਾਯੋ ॥੧੦੮॥
poor bhe drig moond kai lokan lai har ko nabh ke mag dhaayo |108|
Krishna became extremely weighty and colliding against him, Tranavrata fell down on the earth, but still when the eyes of the people were filled with dust and closed down, he flew in the sky taking Krishna with him.108.
ਜਉ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਨਭਿ ਬੀਚ ਗਯੋ ਕਰ ਤਉ ਅਪਨੇ ਬਲ ਕੋ ਤਨ ਚਟਾ ॥
jau har jee nabh beech gayo kar tau apane bal ko tan chattaa |
When he reached high in the sky alongwith Krishna, because of the beating of Krishna his power began to decline
ਰੂਪ ਭਯਾਨਕ ਕੋ ਧਰਿ ਕੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੁਧ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਰਾਛਸ ਫਟਾ ॥
roop bhayaanak ko dhar kai mil judh kariyo tab raachhas fattaa |
Manifesting himself in a dreadful form Krishna fought a battle with that demon and wounded him
ਫੇਰਿ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਦਸੋ ਨਖ ਆਪਨੇ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਤੁਰਾ ਸਿਰ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਕੋ ਕਟਾ ॥
fer sanbhaar daso nakh aapane kai kai turaa sir satr ko kattaa |
Then with his own hands and with the ten nails, he chopped the head of the enemy
ਰੁੰਡ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਜਨੁ ਪੇਡਿ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਇਮ ਮੁੰਡ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਜਨੁ ਡਾਰ ਤੇ ਖਟਾ ॥੧੦੯॥
rundd giriyo jan pedd giriyo im mundd pariyo jan ddaar te khattaa |109|
The trunk of Tranavrata fell on the earth like a tree and his head fell like a lemon falling down from a bough.109.

ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਨ ਗੋਕੁਲ ਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਆਜਿਜ ਹੋਇ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਢੂੰਡਾਯੋ ॥
kaanrah binaa jan gokul ke bahu aajij hoe ikatr dtoonddaayo |
The people of Gokul felt helpless without Krishna, they gathered together and went in search for him
ਦੁਆਦਸ ਕੋਸ ਪੈ ਜਾਇ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਹੁਤੋ ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਪੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
duaadas kos pai jaae pariyo huto khojat khojat pai mil paayo |
During search, he was found at a distance of twelve kos
ਲਾਇ ਲੀਯੋ ਹੀਯ ਸੋ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਉਨ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਯੋ ॥
laae leeyo heey so sabh hee tab hee mil kai un mangal gaayo |
All the people hugged him and sang songs of joy
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਉਚ ਮਹਾ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਇਮ ਭਾਖਿ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥੧੧੦॥
taa chhab ko jas uch mahaa kab ne mukh te im bhaakh sunaayo |110|
That scene has been described thus by the great poet,110
ਦੈਤ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਭਯਾਨਕ ਦੇਖ ਕੈ ਗੋਪ ਸਭੌ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਡਰੁ ਕੀਆ ॥
dait ko roop bhayaanak dekh kai gop sabhau man mai ddar keea |
Seeing the dreadful form of the demon, all the gopas were frightened
ਮਾਨਸ ਕੀ ਕਹ ਹੈ ਗਨਤੀ ਸੁਰ ਰਾਜਹਿ ਕੋ ਪਿਖਿ ਫਾਟਤ ਹੀਆ ॥
maanas kee keh hai ganatee sur raajeh ko pikh faattat heea |
What go say of men, even Indra, the king of gods, seeing the body of the demon, was filled with fear
ਐਸੋ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ਸਰੂਪ ਤਿਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਨੇ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਹਨਿ ਲੀਆ ॥
aiso mahaa bikaraal saroop tisai har ne chhin mai han leea |
Krishna killed this terrible demon in an instant
ਆਇ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮੈ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਬਿਰਤਾਤ ਸਭੈ ਕਹਿ ਦੀਆ ॥੧੧੧॥
aae sunio apune grih mai tih ko birataat sabhai keh deea |111|
Then he returned to his home and all the inhabitants talked amongst themselves about all this event.111.
ਦੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਪਨ ਕੋ ਤਬ ਦਾਨ ਸੁ ਖੇਲਤ ਹੈ ਸੁਤ ਸੋ ਫੁਨਿ ਮਾਈ ॥
dai bahu bipan ko tab daan su khelat hai sut so fun maaee |
ਅੰਗੁਲ ਕੈ ਮੁਖ ਸਾਮੁਹਿ ਹੋਤ ਹੀ ਲੇਤ ਭਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਮੁਸਕਾਈ ॥
angul kai mukh saamuhi hot hee let bhale har jee musakaaee |
After bestowing great deal of gifts in charity to the Brahmins, the mother Yashoda plays again with her child Krishna, who keeping his finer on his lips gradually smiles mildly
ਆਨੰਦ ਹੋਤ ਮਹਾ ਜਸੁਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਅਉਰ ਕਹਾ ਕਹੋ ਤੋਹਿ ਬਡਾਈ ॥
aanand hot mahaa jasudaa man aaur kahaa kaho tohi baddaaee |
The mother Yashoda feels great joy and her happiness cannot be described
ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਅਤਿ ਪੈ ਕਬਿ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਈ ॥੧੧੨॥
taa chhab kee upamaa at pai kab ke man mai tan te at bhaaee |112|
This scene extremely allured the mind of the poet also.112.
ਅਥ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਿਸ੍ਵ ਮੁਖ ਮੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਜੀ ਜਸੋਧਾ ਕੋ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥
ath saaree bisv mukh mo krisan jee jasodhaa ko dikhaaee |
Now Krishna shows the whole universe from his mouth to Yashoda.

ਤੂ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥
too sachaa saahib sach hai sach sachaa gosaaee |
You are True, O True Lord and Master. You are the Truest of the True, O Lord of the World.
ਤੁਧੁਨੋ ਸਭ ਧਿਆਇਦੀ ਸਭ ਲਗੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
tudhuno sabh dhiaaeidee sabh lagai teree paaee |
Everyone meditates on You; everyone falls at Your Feet.
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸੁਆਲਿਉ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਲਘਾਈ ॥
teree sifat suaaliau saroop hai jin keetee tis paar laghaaee |
Your Praises are graceful and beautiful; You save those who speak them.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
guramukhaa no fal paaeidaa sach naam samaaee |
You reward the Gurmukhs, who are absorbed in the True Name.
ਵਡੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਵਡੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧॥
vadde mere saahibaa vaddee teree vaddiaaee |1|
O my Great Lord and Master, great is Your glorious greatness. ||1||

Salok, Fourth Mehl:
ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਸਲਾਹਣਾ ਸਭੁ ਬੋਲਣੁ ਫਿਕਾ ਸਾਦੁ ॥
vin naavai hor salaahanaa sabh bolan fikaa saad |
Without the Name, all other praise and speech is insipid and tasteless.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਸਲਾਹਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਵਾਦੁ ॥
manamukh ahankaar salaahade haumai mamataa vaad |
The self-willed manmukhs praise their own egos; their attachment to egotism is useless.
ਜਿਨ ਸਾਲਾਹਨਿ ਸੇ ਮਰਹਿ ਖਪਿ ਜਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਅਪਵਾਦੁ ॥
jin saalaahan se mareh khap jaavai sabh apavaad |
Those whom they praise, die; they all waste away in conflict.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਮਾਨਾਦੁ ॥੧॥
jan naanak guramukh ubare jap har har paramaanaad |1|
O servant Nanak, the Gurmukhs are saved, chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, the Embodiment of Supreme Bliss. ||1||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਸਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਮਨਿ ਹਰੀ ॥
satigur har prabh das naam dhiaaee man haree |
O True Guru, tell me of my Lord God, that I may meditate on the Naam within my mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲੀ ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਰਹਰੀ ॥੨॥
naanak naam pavit har mukh bolee sabh dukh paraharee |2|
O Nanak, the Lord's Name is sacred and pure; chanting it, all my pain has been taken away. ||2||

ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥

You Yourself are the Formless Lord, the Immaculate Lord, our Sovereign King.
ਜਿਨੀ ਤੂ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
jinee too ik man sach dhiaaeaa tin kaa sabh dukh gavaaeaa |
Those who meditate on You, O True Lord with one-pointed mind, are rid of all their pain.
ਤੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਕੁ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਵੈ ਲਾਇ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥
teraa sareek ko naahee jis no lavai laae sunaaeaa |
You have no equal, next to whom I might sit and speak of You.
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਤੂਹੈ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਾ ਤੂਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
tudh jevadd daataa toohai niranjanaa toohai sach merai man bhaaeaa |
You are the only Giver as great as Yourself. You are Immaculate; O True Lord, you are pleasing to my mind.
ਸਚੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਸਚੇ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
sache mere saahibaa sache sach naaeaa |2|
O my True Lord and Master, Your Name is the Truest of the True. ||2||

Salok, Fourth Mehl:
ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਹੈ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੁਰਜਨਾ ॥
man antar haumai rog hai bhram bhoole manamukh durajanaa |
Deep within the mind is the disease of ego; the self-willed manmukhs, the evil beings, are deluded by doubt.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਜਨਾ ॥੧॥
naanak rog gavaae mil satigur saadhoo sajanaa |1|
O Nanak, this disease is eradicated, only when one meets the True Guru, our Holy Friend. ||1||

Fourth Mehl:
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥
man tan rataa rang siau guramukh har gunataas |
The mind and body of the Gurmukh are imbued with the Love of the Lord, the Treasure of Virtue.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
jan naanak har saranaagatee har mele gur saabaas |2|
Servant Nanak has taken to the Sanctuary of the Lord. Hail to the Guru, who has united me with the Lord. ||2||

ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਸੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਤੂ ਵੜੀਐ ॥

You are the Personification of Creativity, the Inaccessible Lord. With whom should I compare You?
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਹਾ ਤੂਹੈ ਪੜੀਐ ॥
tudh jevadd hoe su aakheeai tudh jehaa toohai parreeai |
If there was anyone else as great as You, I would name him; You alone are like Yourself.
ਤੂ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਇਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗੜੀਐ ॥
too ghatt ghatt ik varatadaa guramukh paragarreeai |
You are the One, permeating each and every heart; You are revealed to the Gurmukh.
ਤੂ ਸਚਾ ਸਭਸ ਦਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਤੂ ਚੜੀਐ ॥
too sachaa sabhas daa khasam hai sabh doo too charreeai |
You are the True Lord and Master of all; You are the Highest of all.
ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁ ਸਚੇ ਹੋਇਸੀ ਤਾ ਕਾਇਤੁ ਕੜੀਐ ॥੩॥
too kareh su sache hoeisee taa kaaeit karreeai |3|
Whatever You do, O True Lord - that is what happens, so why should we grieve? ||3||

Salok, Fourth Mehl:
ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਪਿਰੰਮ ਕਾ ਅਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਲਗੰਨਿ ॥
mai man tan prem piram kaa atthe pehar lagan |
My mind and body are imbued with the Love of my Beloved, twenty-four hours a day.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਸੰਨਿ ॥੧॥
jan naanak kirapaa dhaar prabh satigur sukh vasan |1|
Shower Your Mercy upon servant Nanak, O God, that he may dwell in peace with the True Guru. ||1||

ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਰੰਮ ਕੀ ਜਿਉ ਬੋਲਨਿ ਤਿਵੈ ਸੋਹੰਨਿ ॥

Those whose inner beings are filled with the Love of their Beloved, look beautiful as they speak.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਲਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਰੰਨਿ ॥੨॥
naanak har aape jaanadaa jin laaee preet piran |2|
O Nanak, the Lord Himself knows all; the Beloved Lord has infused His Love. ||2||

ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਅਭੁਲੁ ਹੈ ਭੁਲਣ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
too karataa aap abhul hai bhulan vich naahee |
O Creator Lord, You Yourself are infallible; You never make mistakes.
ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁ ਸਚੇ ਭਲਾ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਹੀ ॥
too kareh su sache bhalaa hai gur sabad bujhaahee |
Whatever You do is good, O True Lord; this understanding is obtained through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਤੂ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
too karan kaaran samarath hai doojaa ko naahee |
You are the Cause of causes, the All-powerful Lord; there is no other at all.
ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਹੀ ॥
too saahib agam deaal hai sabh tudh dhiaahee |
O Lord and Master, You are inaccessible and merciful. Everyone meditates on You.
ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਸਭਸ ਦਾ ਤੂ ਸਭ ਛਡਾਹੀ ॥੪॥
sabh jeea tere too sabhas daa too sabh chhaddaahee |4|
All beings are Yours; You belong to all. You deliver all. ||4||
