When Kansa heard all this with his own ears, then he, the standerer of gods, came to his house he thought that he had uselessly killed the sons of his sister
ਝੂਠ ਹਨੇ ਹਮ ਪੈ ਭਗਨੀ ਸੁਤ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਪਾਇਨ ਸੀਸ ਨਿਵਾਯੋ ॥
jhootth hane ham pai bhaganee sut jaae kai paaein sees nivaayo |
Thinking this, he bowed down his head on the feet of his sister

ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਿ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਲੁਹਾਰ ਕੋ ਲੋਹ ਅਉ ਮੋਹ ਕੋ ਫਾਧ ਕਟਾਯੋ ॥੭੪॥
hvai kai prasan bulaae luhaar ko loh aau moh ko faadh kattaayo |74|
Having been pleased himself, he called the ironsmith, he got the chains of Devaki and Vasudev cut and freed them.74.

dev sabhai harakhe sun bhoomeh aaur manai harakhai nar naaree |
Seeing whom the gods as well as the men and women of the earth were filled with joy,
ਮੰਗਲ ਹੋਹਿ ਘਰਾ ਘਰ ਮੈ ਉਤਰਿਯੋ ਅਵਤਾਰਨ ਕੋ ਅਵਤਾਰੀ ॥੭੬॥
mangal hohi gharaa ghar mai utariyo avataaran ko avataaree |76|
Seeing this incarnation of incarnations, there were rejoicings in every house.76.
ਜਾਗ ਉਠੀ ਜਸੁਧਾ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਪਿਖਿ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਹਿ ਦੇਨ ਲਗੀ ਹੁਨੀਆ ਹੈ ॥

When Yashoda awoke, she became extremely happy on seeing the son,
ਪੰਡਿਤਨ ਕੋ ਅਰੁ ਗਾਇਨ ਕੋ ਬਹੁ ਦਾਨ ਦੀਓ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਗੁਨੀਆ ਹੈ ॥
pandditan ko ar gaaein ko bahu daan deeo sabh hee guneea hai |
She bestowed charities in abundance on the Pundits, singers and talented persons
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਭਯੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਭਾਮਿਨ ਓਢ ਕੈ ਲਾਲ ਚਲੀ ਚੁਨੀਆ ਹੈ ॥

Knowing about the birth of a son to Yashoda, the women of Braja moved out of their houses wearing red head-cloths
ਜਿਉ ਮਿਲ ਕੈ ਘਨ ਕੇ ਦਿਨ ਮੈ ਉਡ ਕੈ ਸੁ ਚਲੀ ਜੁ ਮਨੋ ਮੁਨੀਆ ਹੈ ॥੭੭॥

It seemed that within the clouds, the gems are moving scattered hither and thither.77.

When Vasudev heard about the return (journey) of Nand, then he said to Nand, the chief of Gopas (milkmen,) “You should be extremely fearful” (because Kansa had ordered the killing of all the boys).79.

ਬਾਰਕ ਜੇ ਜਨਮੇ ਇਹ ਦੇਸ ਮੈ ਤਾਹਿ ਕੌ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਸੀਘ੍ਰ ਸੰਘਾਰੋ ॥

All the boys who are born in this country, you may destroy them immediately
ਕਾਲ ਵਹੈ ਹਮਰੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਤਿਹ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਡਰਿਯੋ ਹੀਅਰਾ ਮਮ ਭਾਰੋ ॥

One of these boys will be the cause of my death, therefore my heart is greatly fearful.” Kansa was worried,

Hearing this, Putna said to Kansa,” I shall go and kill all the children and thus all your suffering will end.”81.

ਬਾਲ ਜੁ ਪਾਨ ਕਰੇ ਤਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਨ ਤਾਹਿ ਮਸਾਨ ਕਰੋਂ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ॥
baal ju paan kare taje praanan taeh masaan karon chhin mai |
Saying this and bowing her head she got up and applied the sweet poison to her teats, so that whichever child will suck her teat, he may die in an instant.
ਬੁਧਿ ਤਾਨ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸਤਿ ਮਾਨ ਸੁ ਆਇ ਹੌਂ ਟੋਰ ਕੈ ਤਾ ਹਨਿ ਮੈ ॥
budh taan sujaan kahiyo sat maan su aae hauan ttor kai taa han mai |
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਰਾਜ ਕਰੋ ਨਗਰੀ ਸਗਰੀ ਜਿਨ ਸੋਚ ਕਰੋ ਮਨ ਮੈ ॥੮੨॥
nirbhau nrip raaj karo nagaree sagaree jin soch karo man mai |82|
“O intelligent, wise and truthful king! We all have come in your service, rule fearlessly and remove all anxieties.”82.

That sinful woman resolved to kill Krishna, the Lord of the world and completely embellishing herself and wearing a deceptive garb, she reached Gokul.83.

santasangat meh paaeeai ant na paaraavaar |
In the Society of the Saints, He is obtained; He has no end or limitations.
ਆਪੁ ਤਜਹੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਜਹੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
aap tajahu gobind bhajahu saran parahu har raae |
Renounce your selfishness and conceit, and meditate, vibrate on the Lord of the Universe; take to the Sanctuary of the Lord, our King.
ਦੂਖ ਹਰੈ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇ ॥
dookh harai bhavajal tarai man chindiaa fal paae |
Your pains shall depart - swim across the terrifying world-ocean, and obtain the fruits of your mind's desires.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੈ ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
aatth pehar man har japai safal janam paravaan |
One who meditates on the Lord twenty-four hours a day - fruitful and blessed is his coming into the world.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਰਨੈਹਾਰੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥
antar baahar sadaa sang karanaihaar pachhaan |
Inwardly and outwardly, realize that the Creator Lord is always with you.
ਸੋ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਸੋ ਸਖਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਇ ॥

He is your friend, your companion, your very best friend, who imparts the Teachings of the Lord.

ਸਗਲ ਧਰਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥

all Dharmic virtues, sacred purifying baths,
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਊਚ ਬਿਸੇਖ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
sabh meh aooch bisekh giaan |
the most lofty and sublime spiritual wisdom
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਿ ॥

these are obtained by meditating, vibrating upon the Lord, Har, Har, in the Company of the Perfect Guru.
ਜਪਿ ਤਰੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੮॥

You shall be saved, O Nanak, by lovingly chanting the Lord's Name. ||8||

People do not chant the Lord's Name; instead, they practice evil.
ਪਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਰਮਹਿ ਬਕਹਿ ਸਾਧ ਨਿੰਦ ॥
par tria rameh bakeh saadh nind |
They commit adultery, slander the Saints,
ਕਰਨ ਨ ਸੁਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਬਿੰਦ ॥
karan na sunahee har jas bind |
and do not listen to even a tiny bit of the Lord's Praise.
ਹਿਰਹਿ ਪਰ ਦਰਬੁ ਉਦਰ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥
hireh par darab udar kai taaee |
They steal others' wealth for the sake of their own bellies,
ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਨਿਵਰੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
agan na nivarai trisanaa na bujhaaee |
but the fire is not extinguished, and their thirst is not quenched.
ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਏਹ ਫਲ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
har sevaa bin eeh fal laage |
Without serving the Lord, these are their rewards.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਮਰਿ ਜਮਹਿ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥੯॥
naanak prabh bisarat mar jameh abhaage |9|
O Nanak, forgetting God, the unfortunate people are born, only to die. ||9||

With your ears, hear the Praises of the Lord of the World;
ਨੈਨੀ ਪੇਖਤ ਸਾਧ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
nainee pekhat saadh deaal |
with your eyes, behold the kind, Holy Saints.
ਰਸਨਾ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ਬੇਅੰਤ ॥
rasanaa gun gaavai beant |
With your tongue, sing the Glorious Praises of the Infinite Lord.
ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥
man meh chitavai pooran bhagavant |
In your mind, remember the Perfect Lord God.
ਹਸਤ ਚਰਨ ਸੰਤ ਟਹਲ ਕਮਾਈਐ ॥
hasat charan sant ttehal kamaaeeai |
With your hands and feet, work for the Saints.
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧੦॥
