When that beautiful girl reached the marriageable age, then the king asked his men to search for a suitable match for her.17.
ਦੂਤ ਪਠੇ ਤਿਨ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਨਿਰਖ੍ਰਯੋ ਹੈ ਬਸੁਦੇਵ ॥

The consul was sent, who approved the selection of Vasudev, whose face was like cupid and who was the abode of all comforts and master of discriminating intellect.18.

Putting a cocoanut in the lap of Vasudev and blessing him, a frontal mark was put on his forehead
ਦੀਨੀ ਹੈ ਬਡਾਈ ਪੈ ਮਿਠਾਈ ਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਮੀਠੀ ਸਭ ਜਨ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਅਉਰ ਈਸਨ ਕੇ ਈਸ ਕੌ ॥
deenee hai baddaaee pai mitthaaee hoon te meetthee sabh jan man bhaaee aaur eesan ke ees kau |
He eulogized him, sweeter than the sweetmeats, which was even liked by the Lord
ਮਨ ਜੁ ਪੈ ਆਈ ਸੋ ਤੋ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਸੁਨਾਈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਭ ਭਾਈ ਮਨ ਮਧ ਘਰਨੀਸ ਕੋ ॥
man ju pai aaee so to keh kai sunaaee taa kee sobhaa sabh bhaaee man madh gharanees ko |
Coming home, he fully appreciated him before the women of the house
ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗ ਗਾਈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਗਾਈ ਸੋ ਤੋ ਏਕ ਲੋਕ ਕਹਾ ਲੋਕ ਭੇਦੇ ਬੀਸ ਤੀਸ ਕੋ ॥੧੯॥
saare jag gaaee jin sobhaa jaa kee gaaee so to ek lok kahaa lok bhede bees tees ko |19|
His praises were sung in the whole world, which echoed not only in this world but also penetrated into twenty thirty other regions.19.

ਆਸਨਿ ਦਿਜਨ ਕੋ ਧਰ ਕੈ ਤਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਨਵਾਇ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ਬੈਠਾਯੋ ॥
aasan dijan ko dhar kai tar taa ko navaae lai jaae baitthaayo |
ਕੁੰਕਮ ਕੋ ਘਸ ਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਪੁਰੋਹਿਤ ਬੇਦਨ ਕੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਸਿਉ ਤਿਹ ਲਾਯੋ ॥
kunkam ko ghas kai kar purohit bedan kee dhun siau tih laayo |
The seats were presented to Brahmins respectfully, who, reciting Vedic mantras and rubbing saffron etc. applied it on the forehead of Vasudev
ਡਾਰਤ ਫੂਲ ਪੰਚਾਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਅਛਤ ਮੰਗਲਚਾਰ ਭਇਓ ਮਨ ਭਾਯੋ ॥

bhaatt kalaavant aaur gunee sabh lai bakhasees mahaa jas gaayo |21|
They mixed also the flowers and panchamrit and sang songs of praise. On this occasion the ministrels, artists and talented persons eulogized them and received awards.21.

Vasudev made all the preparations for wedding and made arrangements for going to Mathura.22.

When Ugarsain came to know of the arrival of Vasudev, he sent his four types of forces to welcome him, in advance.23.

aapas mai milabe hit kau dal saaj chale dhujanee pat aise |
ਲਾਲ ਕਰੇ ਪਟ ਪੈ ਡਰ ਕੇਸਰ ਰੰਗ ਭਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਨਾ ਪਤਿ ਕੈਸੇ ॥
laal kare patt pai ddar kesar rang bhare pratinaa pat kaise |
The forces of both sides moved for mutual union all of them had tied red turbans and they looked very impressive filled with joy and gaiety
ਰੰਚਕ ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਢੂੰਢਿ ਲਈ ਕਬਿ ਨੈ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਭੀਤਰ ਮੈ ਸੇ ॥
ranchak taa chhab dtoondt lee kab nai man ke fun bheetar mai se |
ਦੇਖਨ ਕਉਤਕਿ ਬਿਆਹਹਿ ਕੋ ਨਿਕਸੇ ਇਹੁ ਕੁੰਕੁਮ ਆਨੰਦ ਜੈਸੇ ॥੨੪॥
dekhan kautak biaaheh ko nikase ihu kunkum aanand jaise |24|
The poet briefly mentioning that beauty says that they seemed like the beds of saffron coming out of their abode in order to see this delightful spectacle of the wedding.24.

Kansa and Vasudev hugged each other to his bosom and then began to shower gifts of various types of colourful satires.25.

ਦੁੰਦਭਿ ਤਬੈ ਬਜਾਇ ਆਏ ਜੋ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਨਿਕਟਿ ॥

ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਖਾਇ ਹਰਖ ਭਇਓ ਹਰਿਖਾਇ ਕੈ ॥੨੬॥
taa chhab ko nirakhaae harakh bheo harikhaae kai |26|
Beating their drums, they came near Mathura and all the people were pleased to see their elegance.26.
ਜਹ ਅਬਿਗਤੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਤਹ ਆਪਿ ॥
jeh abigat bhagat teh aap |
Wherever the Eternal Lord's devotee is, He Himself is there.
ਜਹ ਪਸਰੈ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ਸੰਤ ਪਰਤਾਪਿ ॥
jeh pasarai paasaar sant parataap |
He unfolds the expanse of His creation for the glory of His Saint.
ਦੁਹੂ ਪਾਖ ਕਾ ਆਪਹਿ ਧਨੀ ॥
duhoo paakh kaa aapeh dhanee |
He Himself is the Master of both worlds.
ਉਨ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਉਨਹੂ ਬਨੀ ॥
aun kee sobhaa unahoo banee |
His Praise is to Himself alone.
ਆਪਹਿ ਕਉਤਕ ਕਰੈ ਅਨਦ ਚੋਜ ॥
aapeh kautak karai anad choj |
He Himself performs and plays His amusements and games.
ਆਪਹਿ ਰਸ ਭੋਗਨ ਨਿਰਜੋਗ ॥
aapeh ras bhogan nirajog |
He Himself enjoys pleasures, and yet He is unaffected and untouched.
ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪਨ ਨਾਇ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
jis bhaavai tis aapan naae laavai |
He attaches whomever He pleases to His Name.
ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਖੇਲ ਖਿਲਾਵੈ ॥
jis bhaavai tis khel khilaavai |
He causes whomever He pleases to play in His play.
ਬੇਸੁਮਾਰ ਅਥਾਹ ਅਗਨਤ ਅਤੋਲੈ ॥
besumaar athaah aganat atolai |
He is beyond calculation, beyond measure, uncountable and unfathomable.
ਜਿਉ ਬੁਲਾਵਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਬੋਲੈ ॥੮॥੨੧॥
jiau bulaavahu tiau naanak daas bolai |8|21|
As You inspire him to speak, O Lord, so does servant Nanak speak. ||8||21||

He Himself is the speaker, and He Himself is the listener.
ਆਪਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥
aapeh ek aap bisathaar |
He Himself is the One, and He Himself is the many.
ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
jaa tis bhaavai taa srisatt upaae |
When it pleases Him, He creates the world.
ਆਪਨੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਲਏ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
aapanai bhaanai le samaae |
As He pleases, He absorbs it back into Himself.
ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਭਿੰਨ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
tum te bhin nahee kichh hoe |
Without You, nothing can be done.
ਆਪਨ ਸੂਤਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਪਰੋਇ ॥
aapan soot sabh jagat paroe |
Upon Your thread, You have strung the whole world.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
jaa kau prabh jeeo aap bujhaae |
One whom God Himself inspires to understand
ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
sach naam soee jan paae |
- that person obtains the True Name.
ਸੋ ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਤਤ ਕਾ ਬੇਤਾ ॥
so samadarasee tat kaa betaa |
He looks impartially upon all, and he knows the essential reality.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਗਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਾ ਜੇਤਾ ॥੧॥
naanak sagal srisatt kaa jetaa |1|
O Nanak, he conquers the whole world. ||1||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਭ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਹਾਥ ॥
jeea jantr sabh taa kai haath |
All beings and creatures are in His Hands.
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਅਨਾਥ ਕੋ ਨਾਥੁ ॥
deen deaal anaath ko naath |
He is Merciful to the meek, the Patron of the patronless.
ਜਿਸੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
jis raakhai tis koe na maarai |
No one can kill those who are protected by Him.
ਸੋ ਮੂਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਬਿਸਾਰੈ ॥
so mooaa jis manahu bisaarai |
One who is forgotten by God, is already dead.
ਤਿਸੁ ਤਜਿ ਅਵਰ ਕਹਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਇ ॥
tis taj avar kahaa ko jaae |
Leaving Him, where else could anyone go?
ਸਭ ਸਿਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਰਾਇ ॥
sabh sir ek niranjan raae |
Over the heads of all is the One, the Immaculate King.
ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
jeea kee jugat jaa kai sabh haath |
The ways and means of all beings are in His Hands.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਸਾਥਿ ॥
antar baahar jaanahu saath |
Inwardly and outwardly, know that He is with you.
ਗੁਨ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
gun nidhaan beant apaar |
He is the Ocean of excellence, infinite and endless.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
naanak daas sadaa balihaar |2|
Slave Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||2||
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
pooran poor rahe deaal |
The Perfect, Merciful Lord is pervading everywhere.
ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
sabh aoopar hovat kirapaal |
His kindness extends to all.
ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਜਾਨੈ ਆਪਿ ॥
apane karatab jaanai aap |
He Himself knows His own ways.
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਿਆਪਿ ॥
antarajaamee rahio biaap |
The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is present everywhere.
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ਜੀਅਨ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ॥
pratipaalai jeean bahu bhaat |
He cherishes His living beings in so many ways.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਰਚਿਓ ਸੁ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਤਿ ॥
jo jo rachio su tiseh dhiaat |
That which He has created meditates on Him.
ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
jis bhaavai tis le milaae |
Whoever pleases Him, He blends into Himself.
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
bhagat kareh har ke gun gaae |
They perform His devotional service and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
man antar bisvaas kar maaniaa |
With heart-felt faith, they believe in Him.
ਕਰਨਹਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥
karanahaar naanak ik jaaniaa |3|
O Nanak, they realize the One, the Creator Lord. ||3||
ਜਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੈ ਨਾਇ ॥
jan laagaa har ekai naae |
The Lord's humble servant is committed to His Name.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਨ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
tis kee aas na birathee jaae |
His hopes do not go in vain.
ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
sevak kau sevaa ban aaee |
The servant's purpose is to serve;
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
hukam boojh param pad paaee |
obeying the Lord's Command, the supreme status is obtained.
ਇਸ ਤੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
eis te aoopar nahee beechaar |
Beyond this, he has no other thought.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਸਿਆ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
jaa kai man basiaa nirankaar |
Within his mind, the Formless Lord abides.
ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋਰਿ ਭਏ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ॥
bandhan tor bhe niravair |
His bonds are cut away, and he becomes free of hatred.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰ ॥
anadin poojeh gur ke pair |
Night and day, he worships the Feet of the Guru.
ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥
eih lok sukhee paralok suhele |
He is at peace in this world, and happy in the next.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਹਿ ਮੇਲੇ ॥੪॥
naanak har prabh aapeh mele |4|
O Nanak, the Lord God unites him with Himself. ||4||
