ਚੰਦ੍ਰਹਾਸ ਏਕੰ ਕਰ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
chandrahaas ekan kar dhaaree |
In one of his hands there was the sword named Chandrahaas
ਦੁਤੀਆ ਧੋਪੁ ਗਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਕਟਾਰੀ ॥
duteea dhop geh tritee kattaaree |
In the second hand was another arm named Dhop and in the third hand there was spear
ਚਤ੍ਰਥ ਹਾਥ ਸੈਹਥੀ ਉਜਿਆਰੀ ॥
chatrath haath saihathee ujiaaree |
In his fourth hand there was a weapons named Saihathi having sharp glimmer,
ਗੋਫਨ ਗੁਰਜ ਕਰਤ ਚਮਕਾਰੀ ॥੬੦੨॥
gofan guraj karat chamakaaree |602|
In his fifth hand and sixth hand there was a glittering mace and a weapon named Gophan.602.

TRIBHANGI STANZA
ਸਤਏ ਅਸ ਭਾਰੀ ਗਦਹਿ ਉਭਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸੂਲ ਸੁਧਾਰੀ ਛੁਰਕਾਰੀ ॥
sate as bhaaree gadeh ubhaaree trisool sudhaaree chhurakaaree |
In his seventh hand there was another heavy and swollen mace and
ਜੰਬੂਵਾ ਅਰ ਬਾਨੰ ਸੁ ਕਸਿ ਕਮਾਨੰ ਚਰਮ ਅਪ੍ਰਮਾਨੰ ਧਰ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
janboovaa ar baanan su kas kamaanan charam apramaanan dhar bhaaree |
In other hands there were trident, pincers, arrows, bow etc. as weapons and arms.
ਪੰਦ੍ਰਏ ਗਲੋਲੰ ਪਾਸ ਅਮੋਲੰ ਪਰਸ ਅਡੋਲੰ ਹਥਿ ਨਾਲੰ ॥
pandre galolan paas amolan paras addolan hath naalan |
In his fifteenth hand there were an arm-like pellet bow and weapons named Pharsa.
ਬਿਛੂਆ ਪਹਰਾਯੰ ਪਟਾ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਯੰ ਜਿਮ ਜਮ ਧਾਯੰ ਬਿਕਰਾਲੰ ॥੬੦੩॥
bichhooaa paharaayan pattaa bhramaayan jim jam dhaayan bikaraalan |603|
He had worn in his hands steel-hooked weapons shaped like tiger’s claws and he was roaming like dreadful Yama.603.

ਸਿਵ ਸਿਵ ਸਿਵ ਮੁਖ ਏਕ ਉਚਾਰੰ ॥

He was repeating the name of Shiva from one face,
ਦੁਤੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਜਾਨਕੀ ਨਿਹਾਰੰ ॥
duteea prabhaa jaanakee nihaaran |
From the second he was looking at the beauty of Sita
ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਅ ਝੁੰਡ ਸਭ ਸੁਭਟ ਪਚਾਰੰ ॥
triteea jhundd sabh subhatt pachaaran |
From the third he was seeing his own warriors and
ਚਤ੍ਰਥ ਕਰਤ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਰੰ ॥੬੦੪॥
chatrath karat maar hee maaran |604|
From the fourth he was shouting “Kill, Kill”.604.

TRIBHANGI STANZA
ਪਚਏ ਹਨਵੰਤੰ ਲਖ ਦੁਤ ਮੰਤੰ ਸੁ ਬਲ ਦੁਰੰਤੰ ਤਜਿ ਕਲਿਣੰ ॥
pache hanavantan lakh dut mantan su bal durantan taj kalinan |
ਛਠਏ ਲਖਿ ਭ੍ਰਾਤੰ ਤਕਤ ਪਪਾਤੰ ਲਗਤ ਨ ਘਾਤੰ ਜੀਅ ਜਲਿਣੰ ॥
chhatthe lakh bhraatan takat papaatan lagat na ghaatan jeea jalinan |
From his fifth face he was looking at Hanuman and repeating the mantra at great speed and was trying to pull his strength. From his sixth head he was seeing his fallen brother Kumbhkarn and his heart was burning.
ਸਤਏ ਲਖਿ ਰਘੁਪਤਿ ਕਪ ਦਲ ਅਧਪਤਿ ਸੁਭਟ ਬਿਕਟ ਮਤ ਜੁਤ ਭ੍ਰਾਤੰ ॥
sate lakh raghupat kap dal adhapat subhatt bikatt mat jut bhraatan |
ਅਠਿਓ ਸਿਰਿ ਢੋਰੈਂ ਨਵਮਿ ਨਿਹੋਰੈਂ ਦਸਯਨ ਬੋਰੈਂ ਰਿਸ ਰਾਤੰ ॥੬੦੫॥
atthio sir dtorain navam nihorain dasayan borain ris raatan |605|
From his seventh head he was seeing Ram and the army of monkeys and other mighty warriors. He was shaking his eight head and surveying everything from his ninth head and he was getting highly infuriated with rage.605.

CHABOLA STANZA
ਧਾਏ ਮਹਾ ਬੀਰ ਸਾਧੇ ਸਿਤੰ ਤੀਰ ਕਾਛੇ ਰਣੰ ਚੀਰ ਬਾਨਾ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥
dhaae mahaa beer saadhe sitan teer kaachhe ranan cheer baanaa suhaae |
Settling their whit arrows the mighty warriors moved with beautiful dress on their bodies
ਰਵਾ ਕਰਦ ਮਰਕਬ ਯਲੋ ਤੇਜ ਇਮ ਸਭ ਚੂੰ ਤੁੰਦ ਅਜਦ ਹੋਓ ਮਿਆ ਜੰਗਾਹੇ ॥
ravaa karad marakab yalo tej im sabh choon tund ajad hoo miaa jangaahe |
Their were very swift-moving and were exhibiting complete quickness in the battlefield
ਭਿੜੇ ਆਇ ਈਹਾ ਬੁਲੇ ਬੈਣ ਕੀਹਾ ਕਰੇਾਂ ਘਾਇ ਜੀਹਾ ਭਿੜੇ ਭੇੜ ਭਜੇ ॥
bhirre aae eehaa bule bain keehaa kareaan ghaae jeehaa bhirre bherr bhaje |
Sometimes they fight on this side and challenging on the other and whenever they strike the blows, the enemies flee
ਪੀਯੋ ਪੋਸਤਾਨੇ ਭਛੋ ਰਾਬੜੀਨੇ ਕਹਾ ਛੈਅਣੀ ਰੋਧਣੀਨੇ ਨਿਹਾਰੈਂ ॥੬੦੬॥
peeyo posataane bhachho raabarreene kahaa chhaianee rodhaneene nihaarain |606|
They appear like one intoxicated on eating hemp and roaming hither and thither.606.
ਗਾਜੇ ਮਹਾ ਸੂਰ ਘੁਮੀ ਰਣੰ ਹੂਰ ਭਰਮੀ ਨਭੰ ਪੂਰ ਬੇਖੰ ਅਨੂਪੰ ॥
gaaje mahaa soor ghumee ranan hoor bharamee nabhan poor bekhan anoopan |
ਵਲੇ ਵਲ ਸਾਈ ਜੀਵੀ ਜੁਗਾ ਤਾਈ ਤੈਂਡੇ ਘੋਲੀ ਜਾਈ ਅਲਾਵੀਤ ਐਸੇ ॥
vale val saaee jeevee jugaa taaee taindde gholee jaaee alaaveet aise |
The warriors roared and the heavenly damsels roamed in the sky in order to see the unique war. They prayed that this warrior waging the dreadful war should live for ages
ਲਗੋ ਲਾਰ ਥਾਨੇ ਬਰੋ ਰਾਜ ਮਾਨੇ ਕਹੋ ਅਉਰ ਕਾਨੇ ਹਠੀ ਛਾਡ ਥੇਸੋ ॥
lago laar thaane baro raaj maane kaho aaur kaane hatthee chhaadd theso |
ਬਰੋ ਆਨ ਮੋ ਕੋ ਭਜੋ ਆਨ ਤੋ ਕੋ ਚਲੋ ਦੇਵ ਲੋਕੋ ਤਜੋ ਬੇਗ ਲੰਕਾ ॥੬੦੭॥
baro aan mo ko bhajo aan to ko chalo dev loko tajo beg lankaa |607|
And should firmly enjoy his rule. O warriors! forsake this Lanka and come to wed us and depart for heaven.607.

ros bharayo taj hos nisaachar sree raghuraaj ko ghaae prahaare |
Ravana, abandoning his senses, became very furious and attacked Ramchander,
ਜੋਸ ਬਡੋ ਕਰ ਕਉਸਲਿਸੰ ਅਧ ਬੀਚ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਸਰ ਕਾਟ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥
jos baddo kar kausalisan adh beech hee te sar kaatt utaare |
The king of Raghu clan on this side Ram intercepted midway his arrows
ਫੇਰ ਬਡੋ ਕਰ ਰੋਸ ਦਿਵਾਰਦਨ ਧਾਇ ਪਰੈਂ ਕਪਿ ਪੁੰਜ ਸੰਘਾਰੈ ॥
fer baddo kar ros divaaradan dhaae parain kap punj sanghaarai |
ਪਟਸ ਲੋਹ ਹਥੀ ਪਰ ਸੰਗੜੀਏ ਜੰਬੁਵੇ ਜਮਦਾੜ ਚਲਾਵੈ ॥੬੦੮॥
pattas loh hathee par sangarree janbuve jamadaarr chalaavai |608|
Then he began to destroy collectively the army of monkeys and struck various types of terrible arms.608.

CHABOLA SWAYYA
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਘੁਰਾਜ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਲੈ ਰਿਸ ਠਾਟ ਘਨੀ ਰਨ ਬਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
sree raghuraaj saraasan lai ris tthaatt ghanee ran baan prahaare |
ਬੀਰਨ ਮਾਰ ਦੁਸਾਰ ਗਏ ਸਰ ਅੰਬਰ ਤੇ ਬਰਸੇ ਜਨ ਓਰੇ ॥
beeran maar dusaar ge sar anbar te barase jan ore |
Ram took his bow in his hand and in great ire, discharged many arrows which killed the warriors and penetrating on the other side, came in shower again from the sky.
ਬਾਜ ਗਜੀ ਰਥ ਸਾਜ ਗਿਰੇ ਧਰ ਪਤ੍ਰ ਅਨੇਕ ਸੁ ਕਉਨ ਗਨਾਵੈ ॥
baaj gajee rath saaj gire dhar patr anek su kaun ganaavai |
ਫਾਗਨ ਪਉਨ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਬਹੇ ਬਨ ਪਤ੍ਰਨ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਪਤ੍ਰ ਉਡਾਨੇ ॥੬੦੯॥
faagan paun prachandd bahe ban patran te jan patr uddaane |609|
Innumerable elephants, horses and chariots fell in the battlefield and it appeared that with the flow of the violent wind the leaves are seen flying.609.

SWAYYA STANZA
ਰੋਸ ਭਰਯੋ ਰਨ ਮੌ ਰਘੁਨਾਥ ਸੁ ਰਾਵਨ ਕੋ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
ros bharayo ran mau raghunaath su raavan ko bahu baan prahaare |
ਸ੍ਰੋਣਨ ਨੈਕ ਲਗਯੋ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਫੋਰ ਜਿਰੈ ਤਨ ਪਾਰ ਪਧਾਰੇ ॥
sronan naik lagayo tin ke tan for jirai tan paar padhaare |
On being enraged, Ram discharged many arrows on Ravana and those arrows saturated slightly with blood, penetrated through the body to the other side
ਬਾਜ ਗਜੀ ਰਥ ਰਾਜ ਰਥੀ ਰਣ ਭੂਮਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥
baaj gajee rath raaj rathee ran bhoom gire ih bhaat sanghaare |
ਜਾਨੋ ਬਸੰਤ ਕੇ ਅੰਤ ਸਮੈ ਕਦਲੀ ਦਲ ਪਉਨ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਉਖਾਰੇ ॥੬੧੦॥
jaano basant ke ant samai kadalee dal paun prachandd ukhaare |610|
The elephants, horses, chariots and charioteers fell down in the battlefield after having been chopped like the trees of banana uprooted and thrown around by the violent wind at the end of spring.610.
ਧਾਇ ਪਰੇ ਕਰ ਕੋਪ ਬਨੇਚਰ ਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਰੋਸ ਜਗਯੋ ॥
dhaae pare kar kop banechar hai tin ke jeea ros jagayo |
ਕਿਲਕਾਰ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਪਰੇ ਚਹੂੰ ਘਾਰਣ ਛਾਡਿ ਹਠੀ ਨਹਿ ਏਕ ਭਗਯੋ ॥
kilakaar pukaar pare chahoon ghaaran chhaadd hatthee neh ek bhagayo |
The forces of monkeys also fell on the enemy, having been greatly enraged in the heart and gushed forward from all the four sides, shouting violently without retreating form its position.
ਗਹਿ ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਗਦਾ ਬਰਛੀ ਉਤ ਤੇ ਦਲ ਰਾਵਨ ਕੋ ਉਮਗਯੋ ॥
geh baan kamaan gadaa barachhee ut te dal raavan ko umagayo |
ਭਟ ਜੂਝਿ ਅਰੂਝਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਧਰਣੀ ਦਿਜਰਾਜ ਭ੍ਰਮਯੋ ਸਿਵ ਧਯਾਨ ਡਿਗਯੋ ॥੬੧੧॥
bhatt joojh aroojh gire dharanee dijaraaj bhramayo siv dhayaan ddigayo |611|
From the other side, the army of Ravana rushed forward taking its weapons and arms like arrows, bows, maces, fell in such a way that the moon taking its course got illusioned and the contemplation of Shiva was obstructed.611.
ਜੂਝਿ ਅਰੂਝਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਭਟਵਾ ਤਨ ਘਾਇਨ ਘਾਇ ਘਨੇ ਭਿਭਰਾਨੇ ॥
joojh aroojh gire bhattavaa tan ghaaein ghaae ghane bhibharaane |
ਜੰਬੁਕ ਗਿਧ ਪਿਸਾਚ ਨਿਸਾਚਰ ਫੂਲ ਫਿਰੇ ਰਨ ਮੌ ਰਹਸਾਨੇ ॥
janbuk gidh pisaach nisaachar fool fire ran mau rahasaane |
After receiving wounds on the body, the warriors swung and began to fall and the jackals, vultures, ghosts and fiends were delighted in mind.
ਕਾਪ ਉਠੀ ਸੁ ਦਿਸਾ ਬਿਦਿਸਾ ਦਿਗਪਾਲਨ ਫੇਰ ਪ੍ਰਲੈ ਅਨੁਮਾਨੇ ॥
kaap utthee su disaa bidisaa digapaalan fer pralai anumaane |
All the directions trembled on seeing the terrible war and the digpals (supervisors and directors) guessed the arrival of doomsday
ਭੂਮਿ ਅਕਾਸ ਉਦਾਸ ਭਏ ਗਨ ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵ ਭ੍ਰਮੇ ਭਹਰਾਨੇ ॥੬੧੨॥
bhoom akaas udaas bhe gan dev adev bhrame bhaharaane |612|
The earth and sky became anxious and seeing the dreadfulness of the war the gods and demons were both bewildered.612.
ਰਾਵਨ ਰੋਸ ਭਰਯੋ ਰਨ ਮੋ ਰਿਸ ਸੌ ਸਰ ਓਘ ਪ੍ਰਓਘ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
raavan ros bharayo ran mo ris sau sar ogh progh prahaare |
Being highly infuriated in mind Ravana began to discharge arrows collectively and
ਭੂਮਿ ਅਕਾਸ ਦਿਸਾ ਬਿਦਿਸਾ ਸਭ ਓਰ ਰੁਕੇ ਨਹਿ ਜਾਤ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
bhoom akaas disaa bidisaa sabh or ruke neh jaat nihaare |
With his arrows the earth, sky and all directions were torn asunder
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਘੁਰਾਜ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਲੈ ਛਿਨ ਮੌ ਛੁਭ ਕੈ ਸਰ ਪੁੰਜ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
sree raghuraaj saraasan lai chhin mau chhubh kai sar punj nivaare |
On this side Ram was enraged for and instant and destroyed the collective discharging of all those arrows and
ਜਾਨਕ ਭਾਨ ਉਦੈ ਨਿਸ ਕਉ ਲਖਿ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਤਪ ਤੇਜ ਪਧਾਰੇ ॥੬੧੩॥
jaanak bhaan udai nis kau lakh kai sabh hee tap tej padhaare |613|
The darkness that had spread on account of arrows, got cleared by the spread of the sunshine again on all the four sides.613.
ਰੋਸ ਭਰੇ ਰਨ ਮੋ ਰਘੁਨਾਥ ਕਮਾਨ ਲੈ ਬਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
ros bhare ran mo raghunaath kamaan lai baan anek chalaae |
Filled with anger Ram discharged many arrows and
ਬਾਜ ਗਜੀ ਗਜਰਾਜ ਘਨੇ ਰਥ ਰਾਜ ਬਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਰੋਸ ਉਡਾਏ ॥
baaj gajee gajaraaj ghane rath raaj bane kar ros uddaae |
Caused the elephants, horses and charioteers to fly away
ਜੇ ਦੁਖ ਦੇਹ ਕਟੇ ਸੀਅ ਕੇ ਹਿਤ ਤੇ ਰਨ ਆਜ ਪ੍ਰਤਖ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥
je dukh deh katte seea ke hit te ran aaj pratakh dikhaae |
The way in which the anguish of Sita could be removed and she could be set free,
ਰਾਜੀਵ ਲੋਚਨ ਰਾਮ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਘਨੋ ਰਨ ਘਾਲ ਘਨੋ ਘਰ ਘਾਏ ॥੬੧੪॥
raajeev lochan raam kumaar ghano ran ghaal ghano ghar ghaae |614|
Ram made today all such efforts and that lotus-eyed one caused the desertion of many homes with his terrible warfare.614.
ਰਾਵਨ ਰੋਸ ਭਰਯੋ ਗਰਜਯੋ ਰਨ ਮੋ ਲਹਿ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਸੈਨ ਭਜਾਨਯੋ ॥
raavan ros bharayo garajayo ran mo leh kai sabh sain bhajaanayo |
Ravana thundered in rage and causing his army to rush forward,
ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਾਕ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ਹਠੀ ਗਹਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਘੁਨੰਦਨ ਸੋ ਰਣ ਠਾਨਯੋ ॥
aap hee haak hathiyaar hatthee geh sree raghunandan so ran tthaanayo |
Shouting loudly and holding his weapons in his hands, he came straight towards Ram and fought with him
ਚਾਬਕ ਮਾਰ ਕੁਦਾਇ ਤੁਰੰਗਨ ਜਾਇ ਪਰਯੋ ਕਛੁ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਨ ਮਾਨਯੋ ॥
chaabak maar kudaae turangan jaae parayo kachh traas na maanayo |
He caused his horses to gallop fearlessly by whipping them.
ਬਾਨਨ ਤੇ ਬਿਧੁ ਬਾਹਨ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਰਤ ਕੋ ਰਥ ਛੋਰਿ ਸਿਧਾਨਯੋ ॥੬੧੫॥
baanan te bidh baahan te man maarat ko rath chhor sidhaanayo |615|
He left his chariot I order to kill Ram with his arrows and came forward.615.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਘੁਨੰਦਨ ਕੀ ਭੁਜ ਕੇ ਜਬ ਛੋਰ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਬਾਨ ਉਡਾਨੇ ॥
sree raghunandan kee bhuj ke jab chhor saraasan baan uddaane |
When the arrows were discharged form the hands of Ram the earth,
ਭੂੰਮਿ ਅਕਾਸ ਪਤਾਰ ਚਹੂੰ ਚਕ ਪੂਰ ਰਹੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਪਛਾਨੇ ॥
bhoonm akaas pataar chahoon chak poor rahe nahee jaat pachhaane |
Sky, netherworld and four directions could hardly be recognized
ਤੋਰ ਸਨਾਹ ਸੁਬਾਹਨ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਆਹ ਕਰੀ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਰ ਪਰਾਨੇ ॥
tor sanaah subaahan ke tan aah karee nahee paar paraane |
Those arrows, piercing through the armours of warriors and killing them without the utterance of a sigh,
ਛੋਦ ਕਰੋਟਨ ਓਟਨ ਕੋਟ ਅਟਾਨਮੋ ਜਾਨਕੀ ਬਾਨ ਪਛਾਨੇ ॥੬੧੬॥
chhod karottan ottan kott attaanamo jaanakee baan pachhaane |616|
They penetrated to the other side, when the arrows fell after piercing the steel-armours, Sita realized that these arrows were discharged by Ram.616.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਸੁਰਾਰਦਨ ਕੇ ਕਰ ਕੋ ਜਿਨ ਏਕ ਹੀ ਬਾਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਤਨ ਚਾਖਯੋ ॥
sree asuraaradan ke kar ko jin ek hee baan bikhai tan chaakhayo |
ਭਾਜ ਸਰਯੋ ਨ ਭਿਰਯੋ ਹਠ ਕੈ ਭਟ ਏਕ ਹੀ ਘਾਇ ਧਰਾ ਪਰ ਰਾਖਯੋ ॥
bhaaj sarayo na bhirayo hatth kai bhatt ek hee ghaae dharaa par raakhayo |
He, who was struck by arrows of Ram, that warrior could neither run away from that place nor could fight but fell dead on the ground.
ਛੇਦ ਸਨਾਹ ਸੁਬਾਹਨ ਕੋ ਸਰ ਓਟਨ ਕੋਟ ਕਰੋਟਨ ਨਾਖਯੋ ॥
chhed sanaah subaahan ko sar ottan kott karottan naakhayo |
ਸੁਆਰ ਜੁਝਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਹਠੀ ਰਨ ਹਾਰ ਗਿਰੇ ਧਰ ਹਾਇ ਨ ਭਾਖਯੋ ॥੬੧੭॥
suaar jujhaar apaar hatthee ran haar gire dhar haae na bhaakhayo |617|
The arrows of Ram pierced through the armour of warriors and then mighty fighters fell down on the earth without uttering a sign.617.
ਆਨ ਅਰੇ ਸੁ ਮਰੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਭਟ ਜੀਤ ਬਚੇ ਰਨ ਛਾਡਿ ਪਰਾਨੇ ॥
aan are su mare sabh hee bhatt jeet bache ran chhaadd paraane |
Ravana called all his warriors, but those remaining fighters fled away
ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵਨ ਕੇ ਜਿਤੀਯਾ ਰਨ ਕੋਟ ਹਤੇ ਕਰ ਏਕ ਨ ਜਾਨੇ ॥
dev adevan ke jiteeyaa ran kott hate kar ek na jaane |
Ravna killed millions of gods and demons, but it made no difference in the battlefield.
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਘੁਰਾਜ ਪ੍ਰਾਕ੍ਰਮ ਕੋ ਲਖ ਤੇਜ ਸੰਬੂਹ ਸਭੈ ਭਹਰਾਨੇ ॥
sree raghuraaj praakram ko lakh tej sanbooh sabhai bhaharaane |
Seeing the power of Ram the illustrious persons were perturbed and
ਓਟਨ ਕੂਦ ਕਰੋਟਨ ਫਾਧ ਸੁ ਲੰਕਹਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਬਿਲੰਕ ਸਿਧਾਨੇ ॥੬੧੮॥
ottan kood karottan faadh su lankeh chhaadd bilank sidhaane |618|
Jumping over the walls of the citadel, they ran away.618.
ਰਾਵਨ ਰੋਸ ਭਰਯੋ ਰਨ ਮੋ ਗਹਿ ਬੀਸ ਹੂੰ ਬਾਹਿ ਹਥਯਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ ॥
raavan ros bharayo ran mo geh bees hoon baeh hathayaar prahaare |
ਭੂੰਮਿ ਅਕਾਸ ਦਿਸਾ ਬਿਦਿਸਾ ਚਕਿ ਚਾਰ ਰੁਕੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥
bhoonm akaas disaa bidisaa chak chaar ruke nahee jaat nihaare |
In great fury Ravana attacked with weapons from all the twenty arms and with his blows the earth, sky and all the four directions became invisible
ਫੋਕਨ ਤੈ ਫਲ ਤੈ ਮਧ ਤੈ ਅਧ ਤੈ ਬਧ ਕੈ ਰਣ ਮੰਡਲ ਡਾਰੇ ॥
fokan tai fal tai madh tai adh tai badh kai ran manddal ddaare |
ਛੰਤ੍ਰ ਧੁਜਾ ਬਰ ਬਾਜ ਰਥੀ ਰਥ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਭੈ ਰਘੁਰਾਜ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥੬੧੯॥
chhantr dhujaa bar baaj rathee rath kaatt sabhai raghuraaj utaare |619|
Ram threw away the enemies from the war-arena, chopping them easily like a fruit. Ram chopped and threw all the canopies, banners, horses and charioteers belonging to Ravana.619.
ਰਾਵਨ ਚਉਪ ਚਲਯੋ ਚਪ ਕੈ ਨਿਜ ਬਾਜ ਬਿਹੀਨ ਜਬੈ ਰਥ ਜਾਨਯੋ ॥

ਢਾਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਸੂਲ ਗਦਾ ਬਰਛੀ ਗਹਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਘੁਨੰਦਨ ਸੋ ਰਨ ਠਾਨਯੋ ॥
dtaal trisool gadaa barachhee geh sree raghunandan so ran tthaanayo |
When Ravana saw his chariot deprived of the horses, he marched forward quickly and holding his shield, trident mace and spear in his hands he fought with Ram.
ਧਾਇ ਪਰਯੋ ਲਲਕਾਰ ਹਠੀ ਕਪ ਪੁੰਜਨ ਕੋ ਕਛੁ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਨ ਮਾਨਯੋ ॥
dhaae parayo lalakaar hatthee kap punjan ko kachh traas na maanayo |
The persistent Ravana, without any fear of the forces of the monkeys
ਅੰਗਦ ਆਦਿ ਹਨਵੰਤ ਤੇ ਲੈ ਭਟ ਕੋਟ ਹੁਤੇ ਕਰ ਏਕ ਨ ਜਾਨਯੋ ॥੬੨੦॥
angad aad hanavant te lai bhatt kott hute kar ek na jaanayo |620|
Moved forward fearlessly, shouting violently. There were many warriors those like Angad, Hanuman etc., but he did not fear anyone.620.
ਰਾਵਨ ਕੋ ਰਘੁਰਾਜ ਜਬੈ ਰਣ ਮੰਡਲ ਆਵਤ ਮਧਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਯੋ ॥
raavan ko raghuraaj jabai ran manddal aavat madh nihaarayo |
ਬੀਸ ਸਿਲਾ ਸਿਤ ਸਾਇਕ ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪੁ ਬਡੋ ਉਰ ਮਧ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਯੋ ॥
bees silaa sit saaeik lai kar kop baddo ur madh prahaarayo |
When the king of Raghava clan saw Ravna coming forward, he (Ram) attacked him by discharging his twenty arrows like slabs on his chest.
ਭੇਦ ਚਲੇ ਮਰਮ ਸਥਲ ਕੋ ਸਰ ਸ੍ਰੋਣ ਨਦੀ ਸਰ ਬੀਚ ਪਖਾਰਯੋ ॥
bhed chale maram sathal ko sar sron nadee sar beech pakhaarayo |
ਆਗੇ ਹੀ ਰੇਾਂਗ ਚਲਯੋ ਹਠਿ ਕੈ ਭਟ ਧਾਮ ਕੋ ਭੂਲ ਨ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਯੋ ॥੬੨੧॥
aage hee reaang chalayo hatth kai bhatt dhaam ko bhool na naam uchaarayo |621|
These arrows penetrated through his vital parts and he bathed in the stream of blood. Ravana fell down and crawled forward, he forgot even the location of his house.621.
ਰੋਸ ਭਰਯੋ ਰਨ ਮੌ ਰਘੁਨਾਥ ਸੁ ਪਾਨ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਲੈ ਕੈ ॥
ros bharayo ran mau raghunaath su paan ke beech saraasan lai kai |
ਪਾਚਕ ਪਾਇ ਹਟਾਇ ਦਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਬੀਸਹੂੰ ਬਾਹਿ ਬਿਨਾ ਓਹ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥
paachak paae hattaae dayo tih beesahoon baeh binaa oeh kai kai |
Ram, the king of Raghava clan, in great fury, taking his bow in his hand and taking five steps backward, chopped all his twenty arms
ਦੈ ਦਸ ਬਾਨ ਬਿਮਾਨ ਦਸੋ ਸਿਰ ਕਾਟ ਦਏ ਸਿਵ ਲੋਕ ਪਠੈ ਕੈ ॥
dai das baan bimaan daso sir kaatt de siv lok patthai kai |
With ten arrows be chopped his ten heads for dispatching them to the abode of Shiva
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਘੁਰਾਜ ਬਰਯੋ ਸੀਅ ਕੋ ਬਹੁਰੋ ਜਨੁ ਜੁਧ ਸੁਯੰਬਰ ਜੈ ਕੈ ॥੬੨੨॥
sree raghuraaj barayo seea ko bahuro jan judh suyanbar jai kai |622|
After the war Ram wedded Sita again as if he had conquered her in the ceremony of Swayyamvara.622.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ॥
prabh kaa simaran sabh te aoochaa |
The remembrance of God is the highest and most exalted of all.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਮੂਚਾ ॥
prabh kai simaran udhare moochaa |
In the remembrance of God, many are saved.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ॥
prabh kai simaran trisanaa bujhai |
In the remembrance of God, thirst is quenched.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਝੈ ॥
prabh kai simaran sabh kichh sujhai |
In the remembrance of God, all things are known.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਮ ਤ੍ਰਾਸਾ ॥
prabh kai simaran naahee jam traasaa |
In the remembrance of God, there is no fear of death.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥
prabh kai simaran pooran aasaa |
In the remembrance of God, hopes are fulfilled.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
prabh kai simaran man kee mal jaae |
In the remembrance of God, the filth of the mind is removed.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
amrit naam rid maeh samaae |
The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, is absorbed into the heart.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਬਸਹਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
prabh jee baseh saadh kee rasanaa |
God abides upon the tongues of His Saints.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਸਨਾ ॥੪॥
naanak jan kaa daasan dasanaa |4|
Nanak is the servant of the slave of His slaves. ||4||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤੇ ॥
prabh kau simareh se dhanavante |
Those who remember God are wealthy.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਪਤਿਵੰਤੇ ॥
prabh kau simareh se pativante |
Those who remember God are honorable.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਨ ॥
prabh kau simareh se jan paravaan |
Those who remember God are approved.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ॥
prabh kau simareh se purakh pradhaan |
Those who remember God are the most distinguished persons.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸਿ ਬੇਮੁਹਤਾਜੇ ॥
prabh kau simareh si bemuhataaje |
Those who remember God are not lacking.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸਿ ਸਰਬ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ॥
prabh kau simareh si sarab ke raaje |
Those who remember God are the rulers of all.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਸੁਖਵਾਸੀ ॥
prabh kau simareh se sukhavaasee |
Those who remember God dwell in peace.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
prabh kau simareh sadaa abinaasee |
Those who remember God are immortal and eternal.
ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਜਿਨ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
simaran te laage jin aap deaalaa |
They alone hold to the remembrance of Him, unto whom He Himself shows His Mercy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਮੰਗੈ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥੫॥
naanak jan kee mangai ravaalaa |5|
Nanak begs for the dust of their feet. ||5||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ॥
prabh kau simareh se praupakaaree |
Those who remember God generously help others.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
prabh kau simareh tin sad balihaaree |
Those who remember God - to them, I am forever a sacrifice.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਮੁਖ ਸੁਹਾਵੇ ॥
prabh kau simareh se mukh suhaave |
Those who remember God - their faces are beautiful.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਸੂਖਿ ਬਿਹਾਵੈ ॥
prabh kau simareh tin sookh bihaavai |
Those who remember God abide in peace.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਆਤਮੁ ਜੀਤਾ ॥
prabh kau simareh tin aatam jeetaa |
Those who remember God conquer their souls.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਾ ॥
prabh kau simareh tin niramal reetaa |
Those who remember God have a pure and spotless lifestyle.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਅਨਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥
prabh kau simareh tin anad ghanere |
Those who remember God experience all sorts of joys.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਬਸਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨੇਰੇ ॥
prabh kau simareh baseh har nere |
Those who remember God abide near the Lord.
ਸੰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਿ ॥
sant kripaa te anadin jaag |
By the Grace of the Saints, one remains awake and aware, night and day.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ॥੬॥
naanak simaran poorai bhaag |6|
O Nanak, this meditative remembrance comes only by perfect destiny. ||6||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਪੂਰੇ ॥

Remembering God, one's works are accomplished.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਝੂਰੇ ॥

Remembering God, one never grieves.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
prabh kai simaran har gun baanee |
Remembering God, one speaks the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
prabh kai simaran sehaj samaanee |
Remembering God, one is absorbed into the state of intuitive ease.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਆਸਨੁ ॥
prabh kai simaran nihachal aasan |
Remembering God, one attains the unchanging position.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਗਾਸਨੁ ॥
prabh kai simaran kamal bigaasan |
Remembering God, the heart-lotus blossoms forth.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਅਨਹਦ ਝੁਨਕਾਰ ॥
prabh kai simaran anahad jhunakaar |
Remembering God, the unstruck melody vibrates.
ਸੁਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰ ॥
sukh prabh simaran kaa ant na paar |
The peace of the meditative remembrance of God has no end or limitation.
ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਇਆ ॥
simareh se jan jin kau prabh meaa |
They alone remember Him, upon whom God bestows His Grace.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਇਆ ॥੭॥
naanak tin jan saranee peaa |7|
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of those humble beings. ||7||
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਭਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਏ ॥
har simaran kar bhagat pragattaae |
Remembering the Lord, His devotees are famous and radiant.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਲਗਿ ਬੇਦ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
har simaran lag bed upaae |
Remembering the Lord, the Vedas were composed.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਭਏ ਸਿਧ ਜਤੀ ਦਾਤੇ ॥
har simaran bhe sidh jatee daate |
Remembering the Lord, we become Siddhas, celibates and givers.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨੀਚ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਟ ਜਾਤੇ ॥
har simaran neech chahu kuntt jaate |
Remembering the Lord, the lowly become known in all four directions.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਭ ਧਰਨਾ ॥
har simaran dhaaree sabh dharanaa |
For the remembrance of the Lord, the whole world was established.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ॥
simar simar har kaaran karanaa |
Remember, remember in meditation the Lord, the Creator, the Cause of causes.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕੀਓ ਸਗਲ ਅਕਾਰਾ ॥
har simaran keeo sagal akaaraa |
For the remembrance of the Lord, He created the whole creation.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
har simaran meh aap nirankaaraa |
In the remembrance of the Lord, He Himself is Formless.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥
kar kirapaa jis aap bujhaaeaa |
By His Grace, He Himself bestows understanding.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੮॥੧॥
naanak guramukh har simaran tin paaeaa |8|1|
O Nanak, the Gurmukh attains the remembrance of the Lord. ||8||1||

O Destroyer of the pains and the suffering of the poor, O Master of each and every heart, O Masterless One:
ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ਆਇਓ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਥ ॥੧॥
saran tumaaree aaeo naanak ke prabh saath |1|
I have come seeking Your Sanctuary. O God, please be with Nanak! ||1||
