ਨ ਰਾਗੰ ਨ ਰੰਗੰ ਨ ਰੂਪੰ ਨ ਰੇਖੰ ॥

n raagan na rangan na roopan na rekhan |

The Lord is without an affection, without colour, without form and without line.

ਨ ਮੋਹੰ ਨ ਕ੍ਰੋਹੰ ਨ ਦ੍ਰੋਹੰ ਨ ਦ੍ਵੈਖੰ ॥

n mohan na krohan na drohan na dvaikhan |

He without attachment, without anger, without deceit and without malice.

ਨ ਕਰਮੰ ਨ ਭਰਮੰ ਨ ਜਨਮੰ ਨ ਜਾਤੰ ॥

n karaman na bharaman na janaman na jaatan |

He is actionless, illusionless, birthless and casteless.

ਨ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਸਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਪਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਮਾਤੰ ॥੧॥੯੧॥

n mitran na satran na pitran na maatan |1|91|

He is sans friend, sans enemy, sans father and sans mother.1.91.

ਨ ਨੇਹੰ ਨ ਗੇਹੰ ਨ ਕਾਮੰ ਨ ਧਾਮੰ ॥

n nehan na gehan na kaaman na dhaaman |

He is without love, without home, without just and without home.

ਨ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਸਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਭਾਮੰ ॥

n putran na mitran na satran na bhaaman |

He is without son, without friend, without enemy and without wife.

ਅਲੇਖੰ ਅਭੇਖੰ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸਰੂਪੰ ॥

alekhan abhekhan ajonee saroopan |

He is accountless, guiseless, and Unborn entity.

ਸਦਾ ਸਿਧ ਦਾ ਬੁਧਿ ਦਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਰੂਪੰ ॥੨॥੯੨॥

sadaa sidh daa budh daa bridh roopan |2|92|

He is ever the Giver of Power and Intellect, He is most Beautiful. 2.92.

ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਨ ਜਾਈ ਕਛੂ ਰੂਪ ਰੇਖੰ ॥

naheen jaan jaaee kachhoo roop rekhan |

Nothing can be known about His Form and Mark.

ਕਹਾ ਬਾਸੁ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਫਿਰੈ ਕਉਨ ਭੇਖੰ ॥

kahaa baas taa ko firai kaun bhekhan |

Where doth He live? In what Garb He moves?

ਕਹਾ ਨਾਮ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਕਹਾ ਕੈ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥

kahaa naam taa kai kahaa kai kahaavai |

What is His Name? Of what Place He is told?

ਕਹਾ ਕੈ ਬਖਾਨੋ ਕਹੇ ਮੋ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੩॥੯੩॥

kahaa kai bakhaano kahe mo na aavai |3|93|

How should He be described? Nothing can be said. 3.93.

ਨ ਰੋਗੰ ਨ ਸੋਗੰ ਨ ਮੋਹੰ ਨ ਮਾਤੰ ॥

n rogan na sogan na mohan na maatan |

He is without ailment, without sorrow, without attachment and without mother.

ਨ ਕਰਮੰ ਨ ਭਰਮੰ ਨ ਜਨਮੰ ਨ ਜਾਤੰ ॥

n karaman na bharaman na janaman na jaatan |

He is without work, without illusion, without birth and without caste.

ਅਦ੍ਵੈਖੰ ਅਭੇਖੰ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸਰੂਪੇ ॥

advaikhan abhekhan ajonee saroope |

He is without malice, without guise, and Unborn Entity.

ਨਮੋ ਏਕ ਰੂਪੇ ਨਮੋ ਏਕ ਰੂਪੇ ॥੪॥੯੪॥

namo ek roope namo ek roope |4|94|

Salutation to Him of One Form, Salutation to Him of One Form. 4.94.

ਪਰੇਅੰ ਪਰਾ ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੀ ॥

parean paraa param pragiaa prakaasee |

Yonder and Yonder is He, the Supreme Lord, He is the Illuminator of Intellect.

ਅਛੇਦੰ ਅਛੈ ਆਦਿ ਅਦ੍ਵੈ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥

achhedan achhai aad advai abinaasee |

He is Invincible, Indestructible, the Primal, Non-dual and Eternal.

ਨ ਜਾਤੰ ਨ ਪਾਤੰ ਨ ਰੂਪੰ ਨ ਰੰਗੇ ॥

n jaatan na paatan na roopan na range |

He is without caste, without line, without form and without colour.

ਨਮੋ ਆਦਿ ਅਭੰਗੇ ਨਮੋ ਆਦਿ ਅਭੰਗੇ ॥੫॥੯੫॥

namo aad abhange namo aad abhange |5|95|

Salutation to Him, Who is Primal and Immortal Salutation to Him who is Primal and Immortal.5.95.

ਕਿਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਸੇ ਕੀਟ ਕੋਟੈ ਉਪਾਏ ॥

kite krisan se keett kottai upaae |

He hath Created millions of Krishnas like worms.

ਉਸਾਰੇ ਗੜ੍ਹੇ ਫੇਰ ਮੇਟੇ ਬਨਾਏ ॥

ausaare garrhe fer mette banaae |

He Created them, annihilated them, again destroyed them, still again Created them.

ਅਗਾਧੇ ਅਭੈ ਆਦਿ ਅਦ੍ਵੈ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥

agaadhe abhai aad advai abinaasee |

He is Unfathomable, Fearless, Primal, Non-dual and Indestructible.

ਪਰੇਅੰ ਪਰਾ ਪਰਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੀ ॥੬॥੯੬॥

parean paraa param pooran prakaasee |6|96|

Yonder and Yonder is He, the supreme Lord, He is the Perfect Illuminator. 6.96.

ਨ ਆਧੰ ਨ ਬਿਆਧੰ ਅਗਾਧੰ ਸਰੂਪੇ ॥

n aadhan na biaadhan agaadhan saroope |

He, the Unfathomable Entity is without the ailments of the mind and body.

ਅਖੰਡਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਆਦਿ ਅਛੈ ਬਿਭੂਤੇ ॥

akhanddit prataap aad achhai bibhoote |

He the Lord of Indivisible Glory and Master of eternal wealth from the very beginging.

ਨ ਜਨਮੰ ਨ ਮਰਨੰ ਨ ਬਰਨੰ ਨ ਬਿਆਧੇ ॥

n janaman na maranan na baranan na biaadhe |

He is without birth, without death, without colour and without ailment.

ਅਖੰਡੇ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡੇ ਅਦੰਡੇ ਅਸਾਧੇ ॥੭॥੯੭॥

akhandde prachandde adandde asaadhe |7|97|

He is Partless, Mighty, Unpunishable and Incorrigible.7.97.

ਨ ਨੇਹੰ ਨ ਗੇਹੰ ਸਨੇਹੰ ਸਨਾਥੇ ॥

n nehan na gehan sanehan sanaathe |

He is without love, without home, without affection and without company.

ਉਦੰਡੇ ਅਮੰਡੇ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡੇ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਥੇ ॥

audandde amandde prachandde pramaathe |

Unpunishable, non-thrustable, mighty and Omnipotent.

ਨ ਜਾਤੇ ਨ ਪਾਤੇ ਨ ਸਤ੍ਰੇ ਨ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੇ ॥

n jaate na paate na satre na mitre |

He is without caste, without line, without enemy and without friend.

ਸੁ ਭੂਤੇ ਭਵਿਖੇ ਭਵਾਨੇ ਅਚਿਤ੍ਰੇ ॥੮॥੯੮॥

su bhoote bhavikhe bhavaane achitre |8|98|

That Imageless Lord was in the past, is in the present and will be in the future. 8.98.

ਨ ਰਾਯੰ ਨ ਰੰਕੰ ਨ ਰੂਪੰ ਨ ਰੇਖੰ ॥

n raayan na rankan na roopan na rekhan |

He is neither the king, nor the poor, without form and without mark.

ਨ ਲੋਭੰ ਨ ਚੋਭੰ ਅਭੂਤੰ ਅਭੇਖੰ ॥

n lobhan na chobhan abhootan abhekhan |

He is without greed, without jealousy, without body and without guise.

ਨ ਸਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਨੇਹੰ ਨ ਗੇਹੰ ॥

n satran na mitran na nehan na gehan |

He is without enemy, without friend, without love and without home.

ਸਦੈਵੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਰਬ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਸਨੇਹੰ ॥੯॥੯੯॥

sadaivan sadaa sarab sarabatr sanehan |9|99|

He always has love for all at all times. 9.99.

ਨ ਕਾਮੰ ਨ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੰ ਨ ਲੋਭੰ ਨ ਮੋਹੰ ॥

n kaaman na krodhan na lobhan na mohan |

He is without lust, without anger, without greed and without attachment.

ਅਜੋਨੀ ਅਛੈ ਆਦਿ ਅਦ੍ਵੈ ਅਜੋਹੰ ॥

ajonee achhai aad advai ajohan |

He is Unborn, Invincible, the Primal, Non-dual and Imperceptible.

ਨ ਜਨਮੰ ਨ ਮਰਨੰ ਨ ਬਰਨੰ ਨ ਬਿਆਧੰ ॥

n janaman na maranan na baranan na biaadhan |

He is without birth, without death, without colour and without ailment.

ਨ ਰੋਗੰ ਨ ਸੋਗੰ ਅਭੈ ਨਿਰਬਿਖਾਧੰ ॥੧੦॥੧੦੦॥

n rogan na sogan abhai nirabikhaadhan |10|100|

He is without malady, without sorrow, without Fear and without hatred.10.100.

ਅਛੇਦੰ ਅਭੇਦੰ ਅਕਰਮੰ ਅਕਾਲੰ ॥

achhedan abhedan akaraman akaalan |

He Invincible, Indiscriminate, Actionless and Timeles.

ਅਖੰਡੰ ਅਭੰਡੰ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡੰ ਅਪਾਲੰ ॥

akhanddan abhanddan prachanddan apaalan |

He is Indivisible, Indefamable, Mighty and Patronless.

ਨ ਤਾਤੰ ਨ ਮਾਤੰ ਨ ਜਾਤੰ ਨ ਭਾਇਅੰ ॥

n taatan na maatan na jaatan na bhaaeian |

He is without father, without mother, without birth and without body.

ਨ ਨੇਹੰ ਨ ਗੇਹੰ ਨ ਕਰਮੰ ਨ ਕਾਇਅੰ ॥੧੧॥੧੦੧॥

n nehan na gehan na karaman na kaaeian |11|101|

He is without love, without home, without illusion and without affection. 11.101.

ਨ ਰੂਪੰ ਨ ਭੂਪੰ ਨ ਕਾਯੰ ਨ ਕਰਮੰ ॥

n roopan na bhoopan na kaayan na karaman |

He is without form, without hunger, without body and without action.

ਨ ਤ੍ਰਾਸੰ ਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਸੰ ਨ ਭੇਦੰ ਨ ਭਰਮੰ ॥

n traasan na praasan na bhedan na bharaman |

He is without suffering, without strife, without discrimination and without illusion.

ਸਦੈਵੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਧ ਬ੍ਰਿਧੰ ਸਰੂਪੇ ॥

sadaivan sadaa sidh bridhan saroope |

He is Eternal, He is the Perfect and Oldest Entity.

ਨਮੋ ਏਕ ਰੂਪੇ ਨਮੋ ਏਕ ਰੂਪੇ ॥੧੨॥੧੦੨॥

namo ek roope namo ek roope |12|102|

Salutation to the Lord of One Form, Salutation to the Lord of One Form. 12.102.

ਨਿਰੁਕਤੰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਆਦਿ ਅਨੁਕਤੰ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੇ ॥

nirukatan prabhaa aad anukatan prataape |

His Glory is inexpressible, His Excellence from the very beginning cannot be described.

ਅਜੁਗਤੰ ਅਛੈ ਆਦਿ ਅਵਿਕਤੰ ਅਥਾਪੇ ॥

ajugatan achhai aad avikatan athaape |

Non-aligned, Unassailable and from the very beginning Unmanifested and Unestablished.

ਬਿਭੁਗਤੰ ਅਛੈ ਆਦਿ ਅਛੈ ਸਰੂਪੇ ॥

bibhugatan achhai aad achhai saroope |

He is the Enjoyer in diverse guises, invincible from the very beginning and an Unassailable Entity.

ਨਮੋ ਏਕ ਰੂਪੇ ਨਮੋ ਏਕ ਰੂਪੇ ॥੧੩॥੧੦੩॥

namo ek roope namo ek roope |13|103|

Salutation to the Lord of One Form Salutation to the Lord of One Form.13.103.

ਨ ਨੇਹੰ ਨ ਗੇਹੰ ਨ ਸੋਕੰ ਨ ਸਾਕੰ ॥

n nehan na gehan na sokan na saakan |

He is without love, without home, without sorrow and without relations.

ਪਰੇਅੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਪੁਨੀਤੰ ਅਤਾਕੰ ॥

parean pavitran puneetan ataakan |

He is in the Yond, He is Holy and Immaculate and He is Independent.

ਨ ਜਾਤੰ ਨ ਪਾਤੰ ਨ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੇ ॥

n jaatan na paatan na mitran na mantre |

He is without caste, without line, without friend and without adviser.

ਨਮੋ ਏਕ ਤੰਤ੍ਰੇ ਨਮੋ ਏਕ ਤੰਤ੍ਰੇ ॥੧੪॥੧੦੪॥

namo ek tantre namo ek tantre |14|104|

Salutation to the One Lord in wrap and woof Salutation to the One Lord in wrap and woof. 14.104.

ਨ ਧਰਮੰ ਨ ਭਰਮੰ ਨ ਸਰਮੰ ਨ ਸਾਕੇ ॥

n dharaman na bharaman na saraman na saake |

He is without religion, without illusion, without shyness and without relations.

ਨ ਬਰਮੰ ਨ ਚਰਮੰ ਨ ਕਰਮੰ ਨ ਬਾਕੇ ॥

n baraman na charaman na karaman na baake |

He is without coat of mail, without shield, without steps and without speech.

ਨ ਸਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੰ ਸਰੂਪੇ ॥

n satran na mitran na putran saroope |

He is without enemy, without friend and without countenance of a son.

ਨਮੋ ਆਦਿ ਰੂਪੇ ਨਮੋ ਆਦਿ ਰੂਪੇ ॥੧੫॥੧੦੫॥

namo aad roope namo aad roope |15|105|

Salutation to that Primal entity Salutation to that Primal Entity.15.105.

ਕਹੂੰ ਕੰਜ ਕੇ ਮੰਜ ਕੇ ਭਰਮ ਭੂਲੇ ॥

kahoon kanj ke manj ke bharam bhoole |

Somewhere as a black bee Thou art engaged in the delusion of fragrance of the lotus!

ਕਹੂੰ ਰੰਕ ਕੇ ਰਾਜ ਕੇ ਧਰਮ ਅਲੂਲੇ ॥

kahoon rank ke raaj ke dharam aloole |

Somewhere Thou art describing the characteristics of a king and the poor!

ਕਹੂੰ ਦੇਸ ਕੇ ਭੇਸ ਕੇ ਧਰਮ ਧਾਮੇ ॥

kahoon des ke bhes ke dharam dhaame |

Somewhere Thou art the abode of virtues of various guises of the county!

ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਕੇ ਸਾਜ ਕੇ ਬਾਜ ਤਾਮੇ ॥੧੬॥੧੦੬॥

kahoon raaj ke saaj ke baaj taame |16|106|

Somewhere Thou art manifesting the mode of Tamas in a kingly mood! 16. 106

ਕਹੂੰ ਅਛ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਪਛ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧੇ ॥

kahoon achhr ke pachhr ke sidh saadhe |

Somewhere Thou art practicing for the realisation of powers through the medium of learning and science!

ਕਹੂੰ ਸਿਧ ਕੇ ਬੁਧਿ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਲਾਧੇ ॥

kahoon sidh ke budh ke bridh laadhe |

Somewhere Thou art searching the secrets of Powers and Intellect!

ਕਹੂੰ ਅੰਗ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਦੇਖੇ ॥

kahoon ang ke rang ke sang dekhe |

Somewhere Thou art seen in profound love of woman!

ਕਹੂੰ ਜੰਗ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ਪੇਖੇ ॥੧੭॥੧੦੭॥

kahoon jang ke rang ke rang pekhe |17|107|

Somewhere Thou art seen in excitement of warfare! 17. 107

ਕਹੂੰ ਧਰਮ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ ਕੇ ਹਰਮ ਜਾਨੇ ॥

kahoon dharam ke karam ke haram jaane |

Somewhere Thou art considered as the abode of the acts of piety!

ਕਹੂੰ ਧਰਮ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ ਕੇ ਭਰਮ ਮਾਨੇ ॥

kahoon dharam ke karam ke bharam maane |

Somewhere Thou acceptest the ritualistic discipline as illusion!

ਕਹੂੰ ਚਾਰ ਚੇਸਟਾ ਕਹੂੰ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਰੂਪੰ ॥

kahoon chaar chesattaa kahoon chitr roopan |

Somewhere Thou makest grand efforts and somewhere Thou lookest like a picture!

Somewhere Thou art embodiment of fime intellect and somewhere Thou art the Sovereign of all! 18. 108

ਕਹੂੰ ਨੇਹ ਗ੍ਰੇਹੰ ਕਹੂੰ ਦੇਹ ਦੋਖੰ ॥

kahoon neh grehan kahoon deh dokhan |

Somewhere Thou art an eclipse of love and somewhere Thou art physical ailment!

ਕਹੂੰ ਔਖਧੀ ਰੋਗ ਕੇ ਸੋਕ ਸੋਖੰ ॥

kahoon aauakhadhee rog ke sok sokhan |

Somewhere Thou art the medicine, drying up the grief of malady!

ਕਹੂੰ ਦੇਵ ਬਿਦ︀ਯਾ ਕਹੂੰ ਦੈਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥

kahoon dev bidayaa kahoon dait baanee |

Somewhere Thou art the learning of gods and somewhere Thou art the speech of demons!

ਕਹੂੰ ਜਛ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥੧੯॥੧੦੯॥

kahoon jachh gandharab kinar kahaanee |19|109|

Somewhere Thou art the episode of Yaksha, Gandharva and Kinnar! 19. 109

ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਜਸੀ ਸਾਤਕੀ ਤਾਮਸੀ ਹੋ ॥

kahoon raajasee saatakee taamasee ho |

Somewhere Thou art Rajsic (full of activity), Sattvic (rhythmic) and Tamsic (full of morbidity)!

ਕਹੂੰ ਜੋਗ ਬਿਦ︀ਯਾ ਧਰੇ ਤਾਪਸੀ ਹੋ ॥

kahoon jog bidayaa dhare taapasee ho |

Somewhere Thou art an ascetic, practicing the learning of yoga!

ਕਹੂੰ ਰੋਗ ਰਹਿਤਾ ਕਹੂੰ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤੰ ॥

kahoon rog rahitaa kahoon jog jugatan |

Somewhere Thou art the Remover of malady and somewhere Thou art cohesive with Yoga!

ਕਹੂੰ ਭੂਮਿ ਕੀ ਭੁਗਤ ਮੈ ਭਰਮ ਭੁਗਤੰ ॥੨੦॥੧੧੦॥

kahoon bhoom kee bhugat mai bharam bhugatan |20|110|

Somewhere Thou art cohesive with Yoga , Somewhere Thou art deluded in enjoying the earthly rictuals! 20. 110

ਕਹੂੰ ਦੇਵ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਕਹੂੰ ਦਾਨਵੀ ਹੋ ॥

kahoon dev kaniaa kahoon daanavee ho |

Somewhere Thou art a daughter of gods and somewhere a daughter of demons!

ਕਹੂੰ ਜਛ ਬਿਦ︀ਯਾ ਧਰੇ ਮਾਨਵੀ ਹੋ ॥

kahoon jachh bidayaa dhare maanavee ho |

Somewhere a daughter of Yakshas, Vidyadhars and men!

ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਜਸੀ ਹੋ ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਕੰਨਿਆ ॥

kahoon raajasee ho kahoon raaj kaniaa |

Somewhere Thou art the queen and somewhere Thou art the princess!

Somewhere Thou art the learning of Vedas and somewhere the voice of heaven!

ਕਹੂੰ ਕੋਕ ਕੀ ਕਾਬਿ ਕਥੈ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥

kahoon kok kee kaab kathai kahaanee |

Somewhere Thu art the discourse and story of general poets!

ਕਹੂੰ ਅਦ੍ਰ ਸਾਰੰ ਕਹੂੰ ਭਦ੍ਰ ਰੂਪੰ ॥

kahoon adr saaran kahoon bhadr roopan |

Somewhere Thou art iron and somewhere Thou art splendid gold!

kahoon bed bidiaa kahoon kaab roopan |

Somewhere Thou art the learning of the Vedas and somewhere Thou art literature!

Somewhere Thou comprehendest the tenets of holy Puranas!

ਕਹੂੰ ਬੈਠ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਕੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੨੩॥੧੧੩॥

And somewhere Thou singest the songs of sacred Quran! ! 23. 113

ਕਹੂੰ ਸੁਧ ਸੇਖੰ ਕਹੂੰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਧਰਮੰ ॥

kahoon sudh sekhan kahoon braham dharaman |

Somewhere Thou art a True Muslim and somewhere the adherent of the religion of Brahmins!

ਕਹੂੰ ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਕਹੂੰ ਬਾਲ ਕਰਮੰ ॥

kahoon bridh avasathaa kahoon baal karaman |

Somewhere Thou art in old age and somewhere actest as a child!

ਕਹੂੰ ਜੁਆ ਸਰੂਪੰ ਜਰਾ ਰਹਤ ਦੇਹੰ ॥

kahoon juaa saroopan jaraa rehat dehan |

Somewhere Thou art a youth sans an old body!

ਕਹੂੰ ਨੇਹ ਦੇਹੰ ਕਹੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਗ੍ਰੇਹੰ ॥੨੪॥੧੧੪॥

Somewhere Thou art engrossed in Yoga and enjoyment and somewhere Thou art experiencing ailment and attachment!

ਕਹੂੰ ਰੋਗ ਰਹਿਤਾ ਕਹੂੰ ਭੋਗ ਤਿਆਗੰ ॥

Somewhere Thou art the Remover of ailment and somewhere Thou Forsakest enjoyment!

ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਸਾਜੰ ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਰੀਤੰ ॥

Somewhere Thou art in pomp of royalty and somewhere Thou art without kingship!

ਕਹੂੰ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਰੀਤੰ ਕਹੂੰ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰੰ ॥

kahoon jantr reetan kahoon sasatr dhaaran |

Somewhere Thou art the instruction of the method of Yantras and somewhere Thou art the wielder of arms!

ਕਹੂੰ ਹੋਮ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਹੂੰ ਦੇਵ ਅਰਚਾ ॥

kahoon hom poojaa kahoon dev arachaa |

Somewhere Thou art the learning of Homa (fire) worship, Thou art the instruction about offerings to gods!

ਕਹੂੰ ਪਿੰਗੁਲਾ ਚਾਰਣੀ ਗੀਤ ਚਰਚਾ ॥੨੭॥੧੧੭॥

Somewhere Thou art the instruction about Prosody, somewhere Thou art the instruction about the discussion regarding the songs of minstrels! 27. 117

ਕਹੂੰ ਬੀਨ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਕਹੂੰ ਗਾਨ ਗੀਤੰ ॥

Somewhere Thou art the learning about lyre, somewhere about singing song!

ਕਹੂੰ ਮਲੇਛ ਭਾਖਿਆ ਕਹੂੰ ਬੇਦ ਰੀਤੰ ॥

kahoon malechh bhaakhiaa kahoon bed reetan |

Somewhere Thou art the language of malechhas (barbarians), somewhere about the Vedic rituals!

ਕਹੂੰ ਨ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਕਹੂੰ ਨਾਗ ਬਾਨੀ ॥

kahoon nrit bidiaa kahoon naag baanee |

Somewhere Thou art the learning of dancing, somewhere Thou art the language of Nagas (serpents)!

ਕਹੂੰ ਗਾਰੜੂ ਗੂੜ੍ਹ ਕਥੈਂ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥੨੮॥੧੧੮॥

kahoon gaararroo goorrh kathain kahaanee |28|118|

Somewhere Thou art Gararoo Mantra (that mantra, which effaces the snake poison) and somewhere Thou tallest the mysterious story (through astrology)! 28. 118

ਕਹੂੰ ਅਛਰਾ ਪਛਰਾ ਮਛਰਾ ਹੋ ॥

kahoon achharaa pachharaa machharaa ho |

Somewhere Thou art the belle of this world, somewhere the apsara (nymph of heaven) and somewhere the beautiful maid of nether-world!

ਕਹੂੰ ਬੀਰ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਅਭੂਤੰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਹੋ ॥

kahoon beer bidiaa abhootan prabhaa ho |

Somewhere Thou art the learning about the art of warfare and somewhere Thou art the non-elemental beauty!

ਕਹੂੰ ਛੈਲ ਛਾਲਾ ਧਰੇ ਛਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ॥

kahoon chhail chhaalaa dhare chhatradhaaree |

Somewhere Thou art the gallant youth, somewhere the ascetic on the deer-skin!

ਕਹੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਸਾਜੰ ਧਿਰਾਜਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ ॥੨੯॥੧੧੯॥

kahoon raaj saajan dhiraajaadhikaaree |29|119|

Somewhere a king under the canopy, somewhere Thou art the ruling sovereign authority! 29. 119

ਨਮੋ ਨਾਥ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਧ ਦਾਤਾ ॥

namo naath poore sadaa sidh daataa |

I bow before Thee, O Perfect Lord! The Donor ever of miraculous powers!

ਅਛੇਦੀ ਅਛੈ ਆਦਿ ਅਦ੍ਵੈ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥

achhedee achhai aad advai bidhaataa |

Invincible, Unassailable, the Primal, Non-dual Providence!

ਨ ਤ੍ਰਸਤੰ ਨ ਗ੍ਰਸਤੰ ਸਮਸਤੰ ਸਰੂਪੇ ॥

n trasatan na grasatan samasatan saroope |

Thou art Fearless, free from any bondage and Thou manifestest in all beings!

ਨਮਸਤੰ ਨਮਸਤੰ ਤੁਅਸਤੰ ਅਭੂਤੇ ॥੩੦॥੧੨੦॥

namasatan namasatan tuasatan abhoote |30|120|

I bow before Thee, I bow before Thee, O Wonderful Non-Elemental Lord! 30. 120

sunyee deh ddaraavanee jaa jeeo vichahu jaae |

The empty body is dreadful, when the soul goes out from within.

ਭਾਹਿ ਬਲੰਦੀ ਵਿਝਵੀ ਧੂਉ ਨ ਨਿਕਸਿਓ ਕਾਇ ॥

bhaeh balandee vijhavee dhooau na nikasio kaae |

The burning fire of life is extinguished, and the smoke of the breath no longer emerges.

ਪੰਚੇ ਰੁੰਨੇ ਦੁਖਿ ਭਰੇ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੧॥

panche rune dukh bhare binase doojai bhaae |1|

The five relatives (the senses) weep and wail painfully, and waste away through the love of duality. ||1||

ਮੂੜੇ ਰਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰਿ ॥

moorre raam japahu gun saar |

You fool: chant the Name of the Lord, and preserve your virtue.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਸਭ ਮੁਠੀ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

haumai mamataa mohanee sabh mutthee ahankaar |1| rahaau |

Egotism and possessiveness are very enticing; egotistical pride has plundered everyone. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਦੂਜੀ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਗਿ ॥

jinee naam visaariaa doojee kaarai lag |

Those who have forgotten the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are attached to affairs of duality.

ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਲਾਗੇ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਿ ॥

dubidhaa laage pach mue antar trisanaa ag |

Attached to duality, they putrefy and die; they are filled with the fire of desire within.

ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਹੋਰਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਧੰਧੈ ਠਗਿ ॥੨॥

gur raakhe se ubare hor mutthee dhandhai tthag |2|

Those who are protected by the Guru are saved; all others are cheated and plundered by deceitful worldly affairs. ||2||

ਮੁਈ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਗਇਆ ਮੁਆ ਵੈਰੁ ਵਿਰੋਧੁ ॥

muee pareet piaar geaa muaa vair virodh |

Love dies, and affection vanishes. Hatred and alienation die.

ਧੰਧਾ ਥਕਾ ਹਉ ਮੁਈ ਮਮਤਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ॥

dhandhaa thakaa hau muee mamataa maaeaa krodh |

Entanglements end, and egotism dies, along with attachment to Maya, possessiveness and anger.

ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰੋਧੁ ॥੩॥

karam milai sach paaeeai guramukh sadaa nirodh |3|

Those who receive His Mercy obtain the True One. The Gurmukhs dwell forever in balanced restraint. ||3||

ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰੈ ਸਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥

sachee kaarai sach milai guramat palai paae |

By true actions, the True Lord is met, and the Guru's Teachings are found.

ਸੋ ਨਰੁ ਜੰਮੈ ਨਾ ਮਰੈ ਨਾ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਜਾਇ ॥

so nar jamai naa marai naa aavai naa jaae |

Then, they are not subject to birth and death; they do not come and go in reincarnation.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਿ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ਸੋ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੪॥

naanak dar paradhaan so darageh paidhaa jaae |4|14|

O Nanak, they are respected at the Lord's Gate; they are robed in honor in the Court of the Lord. ||4||14||

ਤਨੁ ਜਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਮਾਟੀ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਨੂਰੁ ॥

tan jal bal maattee bheaa man maaeaa mohi manoor |

The body is burnt to ashes; by its love of Maya, the mind is rusted through.

ਅਉਗਣ ਫਿਰਿ ਲਾਗੂ ਭਏ ਕੂਰਿ ਵਜਾਵੈ ਤੂਰੁ ॥

aaugan fir laagoo bhe koor vajaavai toor |

Demerits become one's enemies, and falsehood blows the bugle of attack.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਭਰਮਾਈਐ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਡੋਬੇ ਪੂਰੁ ॥੧॥

bin sabadai bharamaaeeai dubidhaa ddobe poor |1|

Without the Word of the Shabad, people wander lost in reincarnation. Through the love of duality, multitudes have been drowned. ||1||

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰਹੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥

man re sabad tarahu chit laae |

O mind, swim across, by focusing your consciousness on the Shabad.

ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਬੂਝਿਆ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jin guramukh naam na boojhiaa mar janamai aavai jaae |1| rahaau |

Those who do not become Gurmukh do not understand the Naam; they die, and continue coming and going in reincarnation. ||1||Pause||

ਤਨੁ ਸੂਚਾ ਸੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥

tan soochaa so aakheeai jis meh saachaa naau |

That body is said to be pure, in which the True Name abides.

ਭੈ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਦੇਹੁਰੀ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥

bhai sach raatee dehuree jihavaa sach suaau |

One whose body is imbued with the Fear of the True One, and whose tongue savors Truthfulness,

ਸਚੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੀਐ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਤਾਉ ॥੨॥

sachee nadar nihaaleeai bahurr na paavai taau |2|

is brought to ecstasy by the True Lord's Glance of Grace. That person does not have to go through the fire of the womb again. ||2||

ਸਾਚੇ ਤੇ ਪਵਨਾ ਭਇਆ ਪਵਨੈ ਤੇ ਜਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

saache te pavanaa bheaa pavanai te jal hoe |

From the True Lord came the air, and from the air came water.

ਜਲ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮੋਇ ॥

jal te tribhavan saajiaa ghatt ghatt jot samoe |

From water, He created the three worlds; in each and every heart He has infused His Light.

ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਨਾ ਥੀਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥

niramal mailaa naa theeai sabad rate pat hoe |3|

The Immaculate Lord does not become polluted. Attuned to the Shabad, honor is obtained. ||3||

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

eihu man saach santokhiaa nadar kare tis maeh |

One whose mind is contented with Truthfulness, is blessed with the Lord's Glance of Grace.

ਪੰਚ ਭੂਤ ਸਚਿ ਭੈ ਰਤੇ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਚੀ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

panch bhoot sach bhai rate jot sachee man maeh |

The body of the five elements is dyed in the Fear of the True One; the mind is filled with the True Light.

ਨਾਨਕ ਅਉਗਣ ਵੀਸਰੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਪਤਿ ਤਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੧੫॥

naanak aaugan veesare gur raakhe pat taeh |4|15|

O Nanak, your demerits shall be forgotten; the Guru shall preserve your honor. ||4||15||
