ਚਛ ਨੀਰ ਕਰ ਭੀਤਰ ਪਰਾ ॥
chachh neer kar bheetar paraa |
ਵਹੈ ਸੰਕਲਪ ਦਿਜਹ ਕਰਿ ਧਰਾ ॥
vahai sankalap dijah kar dharaa |
When the water (from the eye) oozed out on the hand of the King, he gave it as alms, notionally, on the hand of the Brahmin.
ਐਸ ਤਬੈ ਨਿਜ ਦੇਹ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
ais tabai nij deh badtaayo |
ਲੋਕ ਛੇਦਿ ਪਰਲੋਕਿ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥੨੦॥
lok chhed paralok sidhaayo |20|
After this the dwarf expanded his body, which became so huge that it touched the heavens after penetrating through this world.20.
ਨਿਰਖ ਲੋਗ ਅਦਭੁਤ ਬਿਸਮਏ ॥
nirakh log adabhut bisame |
ਦਾਨਵ ਪੇਖਿ ਮੂਰਛਨ ਭਏ ॥
daanav pekh moorachhan bhe |
Seeing this, al the people were wonder-struck and visualizing such a huge form of Vishnu, the demons became unconscious.
ਪਾਵ ਪਤਾਰ ਛੁਯੋ ਸਿਰ ਕਾਸਾ ॥
paav pataar chhuyo sir kaasaa |
ਚਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਭਏ ਲਖਿ ਲੋਕ ਤਮਾਸਾ ॥੨੧॥
chakrit bhe lakh lok tamaasaa |21|
The feet of Vishnu touched the nether-worlds and the head touched the heavens all were non-plussed on seeing this.21.
ਏਕੈ ਪਾਵ ਪਤਾਰਹਿ ਛੂਆ ॥
ekai paav pataareh chhooaa |
ਦੂਸਰ ਪਾਵ ਗਗਨ ਲਉ ਹੂਆ ॥
doosar paav gagan lau hooaa |
With one step, he measured the nether-world and with the second step he measured the heavens.
ਭਿਦਿਯੋ ਅੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
bhidiyo andd brahamandd apaaraa |
ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਗਿਰੀ ਗੰਗ ਕੀ ਧਾਰਾ ॥੨੨॥
tih te giree gang kee dhaaraa |22|
In this way, Vishnu touched the whole universe and the current of Ganges began to flow down from the whole universe.22.
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਭੂਪ ਅਚੰਭਵ ਲਹਾ ॥
eih bidh bhoop achanbhav lahaa |
ਮਨ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਬਚਨ ਚਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਹੁਐ ਰਹਾ ॥
man kram bachan chakrit huai rahaa |
In this way, the king was also astonished and remained puzzled in mind, word and deeds.
ਸੁ ਕੁਛ ਭਯੋ ਜੋਊ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿ ਉਚਾਰਾ ॥
su kuchh bhayo joaoo sukr uchaaraa |
ਸੋਈ ਅਖੀਯਨ ਹਮ ਆਜ ਨਿਹਾਰਾ ॥੨੩॥
soee akheeyan ham aaj nihaaraa |23|
Whatever Shukracharya had said, the same had happened and he himself had seen all this with his own eyes on that day.23.
ਅਰਧਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਅਪਨੋ ਮਿਨਿ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
aradh dehi apano min deenaa |
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੈ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਜਸੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
eih bidh kai bhoopat jas leenaa |
For the remaining half a step, the king Bali got measured his own body and earned approbation.
ਜਬ ਲਉ ਗੰਗ ਜਮੁਨ ਕੋ ਨੀਰਾ ॥
jab lau gang jamun ko neeraa |
ਤਬ ਲਉ ਚਲੀ ਕਥਾ ਜਗਿ ਧੀਰਾ ॥੨੪॥
tab lau chalee kathaa jag dheeraa |24|
As long as there is water in the Ganges and Yamuna, till that time the story of his time the story of this enduring king will be narrated.24.
ਬਿਸਨ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਛ ਹੁਐ ਕਹਾ ॥
bisan prasan pratachh huai kahaa |
Vishnu was then pleased and manifesting himself said
ਚੋਬਦਾਰੁ ਦੁਆਰੇ ਹੁਐ ਰਹਾ ॥
chobadaar duaare huai rahaa |
“O king I shall be a watchmen and servant at your gate myself
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਚਲੇ ਤਬ ਲਗੈ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥
kahiyo chale tab lagai kahaanee |
ਜਬ ਲਗ ਗੰਗ ਜਮੁਨ ਕੋ ਪਾਨੀ ॥੨੫॥
jab lag gang jamun ko paanee |25|
And as long as there will be water in the Ganges and Yamuna, the story of your charity will be narrate.25.

Wherever the saints are in distress, the Non-temporal Lord comes there for help.
ਦੁਆਰਪਾਲ ਹੁਐ ਦਰਿ ਬਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਹੇਤ ਹਰਿਰਾਇ ॥੨੬॥

The Lord, coming under the control of His devotee, became his gate-keeper.26.

chhatran sakal dharaa kahu jeetaa |
Then a long period of time elapsed and the Kshatriyas conquered all the earth.
ਅਧਿਕ ਜਗਤ ਮਹਿ ਊਚ ਜਨਾਯੋ ॥
adhik jagat meh aooch janaayo |
ਬਾਸਵ ਬਲਿ ਕਹੂੰ ਲੈਨ ਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੧॥
baasav bal kahoon lain na paayo |1|
They considered themselves as the most high and their strength became unlimited.1.
ਬਿਆਕੁਲ ਸਕਲ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਭਏ ॥
biaakul sakal devataa bhe |
ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਬਾਸਵ ਪੈ ਗਏ ॥
mil kar sabh baasav pai ge |
Realising this all the gods were worried and went to Indra and said:
ਛਤ੍ਰੀ ਰੂਪ ਧਰੇ ਸਭੁ ਅਸੁਰਨ ॥
chhatree roop dhare sabh asuran |
ਆਵਤ ਕਹਾ ਭੂਪ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਮਨਿ ॥੨॥
aavat kahaa bhoop tumare man |2|
“All the demons have transformed themselves as Kshatriyas, O King! Now tell us your view about it.”2.
ਸਬ ਦੇਵਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
sab devan mil kariyo bichaaraa |
ਛੀਰਸਮੁਦ੍ਰ ਕਹੁ ਚਲੇ ਸੁਧਾਰਾ ॥
chheerasamudr kahu chale sudhaaraa |
All the gods together reflected on this issued and went towards the milk-ocean.
ਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਕੀ ਕਰੀ ਬਡਾਈ ॥
kaal purakh kee karee baddaaee |
ਇਮ ਆਗਿਆ ਤਹ ਤੈ ਤਿਨਿ ਆਈ ॥੩॥
eim aagiaa teh tai tin aaee |3|
There they eulogized KAL, the destroyer Lord and received the following message.3.
ਦਿਜ ਜਮਦਗਨਿ ਜਗਤ ਮੋ ਸੋਹਤ ॥
dij jamadagan jagat mo sohat |
ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਕਰਤ ਅਘਨ ਓਘਨ ਹਤ ॥
nit utth karat aghan oghan hat |
The Destroyer Lord said, “ A sage named Yamadagni abides on the earth, who always gets up to destroy the sins by his virtuous deeds.
ਤਹ ਤੁਮ ਧਰੋ ਬਿਸਨ ਅਵਤਾਰਾ ॥
teh tum dharo bisan avataaraa |
ਹਨਹੁ ਸਕ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੁਧਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
hanahu sakr ke satr sudhaaraa |4|
“O Vishnu, manifested yourself in his house and destroy the enemies of India.”4.

ਆਉ ਸਖੀ ਗੁਣ ਕਾਮਣ ਕਰੀਹਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

Come, O sisters - let's make virtue our charms.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣਿਹ ਰਲੀਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
mil sant janaa rang maanih raleea jeeo |
Let's join the Saints, and enjoy the pleasure of the Lord's Love.
ਗੁਰ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਬਲੀਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
gur deepak giaan sadaa man baleea jeeo |
The lamp of the Guru's spiritual wisdom burns steadily in my mind.
ਹਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਢੁਲਿ ਢੁਲਿ ਮਿਲੀਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
har tutthai dtul dtul mileea jeeo |1|
The Lord, being pleased and moved by pity, has led me to meet Him. ||1||
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਲਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਢੋਲੇ ਜੀਉ ॥
merai man tan prem lagaa har dtole jeeo |
My mind and body are filled with love for my Darling Lord.
ਮੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਵੇਚੋਲੇ ਜੀਉ ॥
mai mele mitru satigur vechole jeeo |
The True Guru, the Divine Intermediary, has united me with my Friend.
ਮਨੁ ਦੇਵਾਂ ਸੰਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਜੀਉ ॥
man devaan santaa meraa prabh mele jeeo |
I offer my mind to the Guru, who has led me to meet my God.
ਹਰਿ ਵਿਟੜਿਅਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਘੋਲੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
har vittarriahu sadaa ghole jeeo |2|
I am forever a sacrifice to the Lord. ||2||
ਵਸੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਵਸੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
vas mere piaariaa vas mere govidaa har kar kirapaa man vas jeeo |
Dwell, O my Beloved, dwell, O my Lord of the Universe; O Lord, show mercy to me and come to dwell within my mind.
ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਵੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
man chindiarraa fal paaeaa mere govindaa gur pooraa vekh vigas jeeo |
I have obtained the fruits of my mind's desires, O my Lord of the Universe; I am transfixed with ecstasy, gazing upon the Perfect Guru.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦੁ ਰਹਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
har naam miliaa sohaaganee mere govindaa man anadin anad rehas jeeo |
The happy soul-brides receive the Lord's Name, O my Lord of the Universe; night and day, their minds are blissful and happy.
ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਅੜਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਨਿਤ ਲੈ ਲਾਹਾ ਮਨਿ ਹਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
har paaeiarraa vaddabhaageeee mere govindaa nit lai laahaa man has jeeo |3|
By great good fortune, the Lord is found, O my Lord of the Universe; earning profit continually, the mind laughs with joy. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
har aap upaae har aape vekhai har aape kaarai laaeaa jeeo |
The Lord Himself creates, and the Lord Himself beholds; the Lord Himself assigns all to their tasks.
ਇਕਿ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਬਖਸ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਇਕਨਾ ਫਕਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
eik khaaveh bakhas tott na aavai ikanaa fakaa paaeaa jeeo |
Some partake of the bounty of the Lord's favor, which never runs out, while others receive only a handful.
ਇਕਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਤਖਤਿ ਬਹਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਇਕਨਾ ਭਿਖ ਮੰਗਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
eik raaje takhat baheh nit sukhee ikanaa bhikh mangaaeaa jeeo |
Some sit upon thrones as kings, and enjoy constant pleasures, while others must beg for charity.
ਸਭੁ ਇਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿਦਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨॥੨੮॥੬੬॥
sabh iko sabad varatadaa mere govidaa jan naanak naam dhiaaeaa jeeo |4|2|28|66|
The Word of the Shabad is pervading in everyone, O my Lord of the Universe; servant Nanak meditates on the Naam. ||4||2||28||66||

man maahee man maahee mere govindaa har rang rataa man maahee jeeo |
From within my mind, from within my mind, O my Lord of the Universe, I am imbued with the Love of the Lord, from within my mind.
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਲਖੀਐ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿਦਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
har rang naal na lakheeai mere govidaa gur pooraa alakh lakhaahee jeeo |
The Lord's Love is with me, but it cannot be seen, O my Lord of the Universe; the Perfect Guru has led me to see the unseen.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਸਭ ਦਾਲਦ ਦੁਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har naam paragaasiaa mere govindaa sabh daalad dukh leh jaahee jeeo |
He has revealed the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my Lord of the Universe; all poverty and pain have departed.
ਹਰਿ ਪਦੁ ਊਤਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
har pad aootam paaeaa mere govindaa vaddabhaagee naam samaahee jeeo |1|
I have obtained the supreme status of the Lord, O my Lord of the Universe; by great good fortune, I am absorbed in the Naam. ||1||
ਨੈਣੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਨੈਣੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿਦਾ ਕਿਨੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਡਿਠੜਾ ਨੈਣੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
nainee mere piaariaa nainee mere govidaa kinai har prabh ddittharraa nainee jeeo |
With his eyes, O my Beloved, with his eyes, O my Lord of the Universe - has anyone ever seen the Lord God with his eyes?
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬੈਰਾਗਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਧਨ ਕੁਮਲੈਣੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
meraa man tan bahut bairaagiaa mere govindaa har baajhahu dhan kumalainee jeeo |
My mind and body are sad and depressed, O my Lord of the Universe; without her Husband Lord, the soul-bride is withering away.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿਦਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਸੈਣੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
sant janaa mil paaeaa mere govidaa meraa har prabh sajan sainee jeeo |
Meeting the Saints, O my Lord of the Universe, I have found my Lord God, my Companion, my Best Friend.
ਹਰਿ ਆਇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਮੈ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ਰੈਣੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
har aae miliaa jagajeevan mere govindaa mai sukh vihaanee rainee jeeo |2|
The Lord, the Life of the World, has come to meet me, O my Lord of the Universe. The night of my life now passes in peace. ||2||
ਮੈ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਭੁਖ ਲਗਾਈਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
mai melahu sant meraa har prabh sajan mai man tan bhukh lagaaeea jeeo |
O Saints, unite me with my Lord God, my Best Friend; my mind and body are hungry for Him.
ਹਉ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਖੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਈਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
hau reh na skau bin dekhe mere preetam mai antar birahu har laaeea jeeo |
I cannot survive without seeing my Beloved; deep within, I feel the pain of separation from the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਜਣੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਵਾਈਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
har raaeaa meraa sajan piaaraa gur mele meraa man jeevaaeea jeeo |
The Sovereign Lord King is my Beloved, my Best Friend. Through the Guru, I have met Him, and my mind has been rejuvenated.
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਵਾਧਾਈਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
merai man tan aasaa pooreea mere govindaa har miliaa man vaadhaaeea jeeo |3|
The hopes of my mind and body have been fulfilled, O my Lord of the Universe; meeting the Lord, my mind vibrates with joy. ||3||
ਵਾਰੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਵਾਰੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਹਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਿਟੜਿਅਹੁ ਸਦ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
vaaree mere govindaa vaaree mere piaariaa hau tudh vittarriahu sad vaaree jeeo |
A sacrifice, O my Lord of the Universe, a sacrifice, O my Beloved; I am forever a sacrifice to You.
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਪਿਰੰਮ ਕਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਰਾਖੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥

My mind and body are filled with love for my Husband Lord; O my Lord of the Universe, please preserve my assets.
