ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਵੇਖੁ ਤੂ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥

By Guru's Grace, see that the Temple of the Lord is within you.
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਖੋਜੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਮੑਾਲਿ ॥੧॥
har mandar sabade khojeeai har naamo lehu samaal |1|
The Temple of the Lord is found through the Word of the Shabad; contemplate the Lord's Name. ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਪੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
man mere sabad rapai rang hoe |
O my mind, be joyfully attuned to the Shabad.
ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sachee bhagat sachaa har mandar pragattee saachee soe |1| rahaau |
True is devotional worship, and True is the Temple of the Lord; True is His Manifest Glory. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਏਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਰਤਨਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
har mandar ehu sareer hai giaan ratan paragatt hoe |
This body is the Temple of the Lord, in which the jewel of spiritual wisdom is revealed.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂਲੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਮਾਣਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
manamukh mool na jaananee maanas har mandar na hoe |2|
The self-willed manmukhs do not know anything at all; they do not believe that the Lord's Temple is within. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਰਖਿਆ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
har mandar har jeeo saajiaa rakhiaa hukam savaar |
The Dear Lord created the Temple of the Lord; He adorns it by His Will.
ਧੁਰਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
dhur lekh likhiaa su kamaavanaa koe na mettanahaar |3|
All act according to their pre-ordained destiny; no one can erase it. ||3||
ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨੑਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰ ॥
sabad cheena sukh paaeaa sachai naae piaar |
Contemplating the Shabad, peace is obtained, loving the True Name.
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਕੋਟੁ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੪॥
har mandar sabade sohanaa kanchan kott apaar |4|
The Temple of the Lord is embellished with the Shabad; it is an Infinite Fortress of God. ||4||
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਏਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰੰਧਾਰ ॥
har mandar ehu jagat hai gur bin ghorandhaar |
This world is the Temple of the Lord; without the Guru, there is only pitch darkness.
ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਪੂਜਦੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥੫॥
doojaa bhaau kar poojade manamukh andh gavaar |5|
The blind and foolish self-willed manmukhs worship in the love of duality. ||5||
ਜਿਥੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਿਥੈ ਦੇਹ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
jithai lekhaa mangeeai tithai deh jaat na jaae |
One's body and social status do not go along to that place, where all are called to account.
ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਦੁਖੀਏ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੬॥
saach rate se ubare dukhee doojai bhaae |6|
Those who are attuned to Truth are saved; those in the love of duality are miserable. ||6||
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥
har mandar meh naam nidhaan hai naa boojheh mugadh gavaar |
The treasure of the Naam is within the Temple of the Lord. The idiotic fools do not realize this.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਚੀਨੑਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੭॥
gur parasaadee cheenaiaa har raakhiaa ur dhaar |7|
By Guru's Grace, I have realized this. I keep the Lord enshrined within my heart. ||7||
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਤੀ ਜਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
gur kee baanee gur te jaatee ji sabad rate rang laae |
Those who are attuned to the love of the Shabad know the Guru, through the Word of the Guru's Bani.
ਪਵਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਨ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੮॥
pavit paavan se jan niramal har kai naam samaae |8|
Sacred, pure and immaculate are those humble beings who are absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||8||
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਹਾਟੁ ਹੈ ਰਖਿਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
har mandar har kaa haatt hai rakhiaa sabad savaar |
The Temple of the Lord is the Lord's Shop; He embellishes it with the Word of His Shabad.
ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਉਦਾ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲੈਨਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥੯॥
tis vich saudaa ek naam guramukh lain savaar |9|
In that shop is the merchandise of the One Name; the Gurmukhs adorn themselves with it. ||9||
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਿ ਮਨੁ ਲੋਹਟੁ ਹੈ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥
har mandar meh man lohatt hai mohiaa doojai bhaae |
The mind is like iron slag, within the Temple of the Lord; it is lured by the love of duality.
ਪਾਰਸਿ ਭੇਟਿਐ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੦॥
paaras bhettiai kanchan bheaa keemat kahee na jaae |10|
Meeting with the Guru, the Philosopher's Stone, the mind is transformed into gold. Its value cannot be described. ||10||
ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
har mandar meh har vasai sarab nirantar soe |
The Lord abides within the Temple of the Lord. He is pervading in all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਣਜੀਐ ਸਚਾ ਸਉਦਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧੧॥੧॥
naanak guramukh vanajeeai sachaa saudaa hoe |11|1|
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs trade in the merchandise of Truth. ||11||1||

ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਜਾਗੇ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਣ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ॥
bhai bhaae jaage se jan jaagran kareh haumai mail utaar |
Those who remain awake and aware in the Love and Fear of God, rid themselves of the filth and pollution of egotism.
ਸਦਾ ਜਾਗਹਿ ਘਰੁ ਅਪਣਾ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਪੰਚ ਤਸਕਰ ਕਾਢਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
sadaa jaageh ghar apanaa raakheh panch tasakar kaadteh maar |1|
They remain awake and aware forever, and protect their homes, by beating and driving out the five thieves. ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
man mere guramukh naam dhiaae |
O my mind, as Gurmukh, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਜਿਤੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਨ ਸੇਈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jit maarag har paaeeai man seee karam kamaae |1| rahaau |
O mind, do only those deeds which will lead you to the Path of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
guramukh sehaj dhun aoopajai dukh haumai vichahu jaae |
The celestial melody wells up in the Gurmukh, and the pains of egotism are taken away.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੨॥
har naamaa har man vasai sahaje har gun gaae |2|
The Name of the Lord abides in the mind, as one intuitively sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਮੁਖ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
guramatee mukh sohane har raakhiaa ur dhaar |
Those who follow the Guru's Teachings - their faces are radiant and beautiful. They keep the Lord enshrined in their hearts.
ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਘਣਾ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
aithai othai sukh ghanaa jap har har utare paar |3|
Here and hereafter, they find absolute peace; chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, they are carried across to the other shore. ||3||
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਪਵਈ ਥਾਇ ॥
haumai vich jaagran na hovee har bhagat na pavee thaae |
In egotism, one cannot remain awake and aware, and one's devotional worship of the Lord is not accepted.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦਰਿ ਢੋਈ ਨਾ ਲਹਹਿ ਭਾਇ ਦੂਜੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੪॥
manamukh dar dtoee naa laheh bhaae doojai karam kamaae |4|
The self-willed manmukhs find no place in the Court of the Lord; they do their deeds in the love of duality. ||4||
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਪੈਨੑਣਾ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
dhrig khaanaa dhrig painanaa jinaa doojai bhaae piaar |
Cursed is the food, and cursed are the clothes, of those who are attached to the love of duality.
ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਹੋਹਿ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥੫॥
bisattaa ke keerre bisattaa raate mar jameh hohi khuaar |5|
They are like maggots in manure, sinking into manure. In death and rebirth, they are wasted away to ruin. ||5||
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
jin kau satigur bhettiaa tinaa vittahu bal jaau |
I am a sacrifice to those who meet with the True Guru.
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਾਂ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੬॥
tin kee sangat mil rahaan sache sach samaau |6|
I shall continue to associate with them; devoted to Truth, I am absorbed in Truth. ||6||
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਉਪਾਇ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
poorai bhaag gur paaeeai upaae kitai na paaeaa jaae |
By perfect destiny, the Guru is found. He cannot be found by any efforts.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਹਜੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੭॥
satigur te sehaj aoopajai haumai sabad jalaae |7|
Through the True Guru, intuitive wisdom wells up; through the Word of the Shabad, egotism is burnt away. ||7||
ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
har saranaaee bhaj man mere sabh kichh karanai jog |
O my mind, hurry to the Sanctuary of the Lord; He is Potent to do everything.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੁ ॥੮॥੨॥੭॥੨॥੯॥
naanak naam na veesarai jo kichh karai su hog |8|2|7|2|9|
O Nanak, never forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord. Whatever He does, comes to pass. ||8||2||7||2||9||

ਸਾਜਨ ਮਿਲਤ ਸਜਨਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੬॥
saajan milat sajan sukh paayo |6|
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਕਿਯ ਭੋਗਾ ॥
bhaat bhaat setee kiy bhogaa |
ਮਿਟ ਗਯੋ ਸਕਲ ਦੁਹਨ ਕੋ ਸੋਗਾ ॥
mitt gayo sakal duhan ko sogaa |
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਨ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਲਾਸਾ ॥
bhaat bhaat tan karai bilaasaa |
ਨਿਜ ਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਤਜਿ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਤ੍ਰਾਸਾ ॥੭॥
nij pat ko taj kar kai traasaa |7|
ਚਤੁਰ ਚਤੁਰਿਯਾ ਦੋਈ ਕਲੋਲਹਿ ॥
chatur chaturiyaa doee kaloleh |
ਮਿਲਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਬੈਨ ਮਧੁਰਿ ਧੁਨ ਬੋਲਹਿ ॥
mil mil bain madhur dhun boleh |
ਭਾਤਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਕੀ ਕੈਫ ਮੰਗਾਵੈਂ ॥
bhaat anik kee kaif mangaavain |
ਏਕ ਪਲੰਘ ਬੈਠਿ ਪਰ ਚੜਾਵੈਂ ॥੮॥

ਆਸਨ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੇ ਲੇਹੀ ॥
aasan bhaat bhaat ke lehee |
ਆਲਿੰਗ ਚੁੰਬਨ ਦੋਈ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
aaling chunban doee dehee |
ਰਸਿ ਰਸਿ ਕਸਿ ਨਰ ਕੇਲ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
ras ras kas nar kel kamaae |
ਲਪਟਿ ਲਪਟਿ ਤਰੁਨੀ ਤਰ ਜਾਇ ॥੯॥
lapatt lapatt tarunee tar jaae |9|
ਦੋਇ ਤਰੁਨ ਬਿਜਿਯਾ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਖਾਈ ॥
doe tarun bijiyaa duhoon khaaee |
ਚਾਰਿ ਟਾਕ ਅਹਿਫੇਨ ਚੜਾਈ ॥
chaar ttaak ahifen charraaee |
ਰਸਿ ਰਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਸਿ ਕਸਿ ਰਤਿ ਕਿਯੋ ॥
ras ras kar kas kas rat kiyo |
ਚੋਰਿ ਚੰਚਲਾ ਕੋ ਚਿਤ ਲਿਯੋ ॥੧੦॥
chor chanchalaa ko chit liyo |10|
ਰਸਿਗੇ ਦੋਊ ਨ ਛੋਰਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
rasige doaoo na chhoraa jaae |
ਕਹੀ ਬਾਤ ਇਹ ਘਾਤ ਬਨਾਇ ॥
kahee baat ih ghaat banaae |
ਏਕ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਹਮ ਤੇ ਪਿਯ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
ek mantr ham te piy leejai |
ਜਲ ਕੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਪਿਯਾਨਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੧੧॥
jal ke bikhai piyaanaa keejai |11|
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁਚਾਰ ਤੈ ਕਰ ਹੈ ॥
jab lag mantruchaar tai kar hai |
ਤਬ ਲਗਿ ਤੈ ਜਲ ਬੀਚ ਨ ਮਰ ਹੈ ॥
tab lag tai jal beech na mar hai |
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਜਲ ਐ ਹੈ ਨ ਨੇਰੇ ॥
tumare jal ai hai na nere |
ਚਾਰਿ ਓਰ ਰਹਿ ਹੈ ਤੁਹਿ ਘੇਰੇ ॥੧੨॥

ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਤਬ ਲਿਯੋ ॥
mantr mitr taa te tab liyo |
ਗੰਗਾ ਬੀਚ ਪਯਾਨਾ ਕਿਯੋ ॥
gangaa beech payaanaa kiyo |
ਜਲ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਤਵਨ ਕੇ ਰਹਾ ॥
jal chahoon or tavan ke rahaa |
ਆਨਿ ਪਾਨ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਨਹਿ ਗਹਾ ॥੧੩॥
aan paan taa ke neh gahaa |13|
ਇਹ ਛਲ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਮੀਤ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
eih chhal jal meh meet patthaayo |
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਤਨ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
maat pitaa tan bachan sunaayo |
ਹੋ ਪਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਸੁਯੰਬਰ ਕਰਿ ਹੌ ॥
ho pit praat suyanbar kar hau |
ਪਰਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਕੋਈ ਬਰਿ ਹੌ ॥੧੪॥
param pavitr purakh koee bar hau |14|
ਕਹੇ ਚਲੋ ਤੁਮ ਤਾਤ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥
kahe chalo tum taat hamaare |
ਮਥਹੁ ਜਾਨਵੀ ਹੋਤ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
mathahu jaanavee hot savaare |
ਤਹ ਤੇ ਜੁ ਨਰ ਨਿਕਸਿ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
teh te ju nar nikas hai koee |
ਭਰਤਾ ਹੋਇ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਸੋਈ ॥੧੫॥
bharataa hoe hamaaro soee |15|
ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਤ ਰਾਜਾ ਹਰਖਾਨੋ ॥
bachan sunat raajaa harakhaano |
ਸਾਚੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਜੜ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਨੋ ॥
saach jhootth jarr kachh na pachhaano |
ਜੋਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਦੈ ਢੋਲ ਨਗਾਰੇ ॥
jor prajaa dai dtol nagaare |
ਚਲੇ ਸੁਰਸੁਰੀ ਮਥਨ ਸਕਾਰੇ ॥੧੬॥

ਬਡੇ ਦ੍ਰੁਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਥਨਿ ਸੁਧਾਰਿ ॥
badde druman kee mathan sudhaar |
ਮਥਤ ਭਏ ਸੁਰਸਰਿ ਮੋ ਡਾਰਿ ॥
mathat bhe surasar mo ddaar |
ਤਨਿਕ ਬਾਰਿ ਕਹ ਜਬੈ ਡੁਲਾਯੋ ॥
tanik baar keh jabai ddulaayo |
ਨਿਕਸਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਤਹ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਆਯੋ ॥੧੭॥
nikas purakh teh te ik aayo |17|
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਸਜਨ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
nirakh sajan ko roop apaaraa |
ਬਰਤ ਭਈ ਤਿਹ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰਾ ॥
barat bhee tih raaj kumaaraa |
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਪਸੁ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਬਿਚਰਿਯੋ ॥
bhed abhed pas kachh na bichariyo |
ਇਹ ਛਲ ਨਾਰਿ ਜਾਰ ਕਹ ਬਰਿਯੋ ॥੧੮॥
