ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਲਖਿਆ ॥
antar alakh na jaaee lakhiaa |
The Unseen Lord is within, but He cannot be seen.
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਲੈ ਗੁਝਾ ਰਖਿਆ ॥
naam ratan lai gujhaa rakhiaa |
He has taken the Jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and He keeps it well concealed.
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਖਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
agam agochar sabh te aoochaa gur kai sabad lakhaavaniaa |1|
The Inaccessible and Incomprehensible Lord is the highest of all. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is known. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
hau vaaree jeeo vaaree kal meh naam sunaavaniaa |
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who chant the Naam, in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga.
ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਚੈ ਧਾਰੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sant piaare sachai dhaare vaddabhaagee darasan paavaniaa |1| rahaau |
The Beloved Saints were established by the True Lord. By great good fortune, the Blessed Vision of their Darshan is obtained. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਜਿਸੈ ਕਉ ਫਿਰਦੇ ॥
saadhik sidh jisai kau firade |
The One who is sought by the Siddhas and the seekers,
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਹਿਰਦੇ ॥
brahame indr dhiaaein hirade |
upon whom Brahma and Indra meditate within their hearts,
ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸਾ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
kott teteesaa khojeh taa kau gur mil hiradai gaavaniaa |2|
whom the three hundred thirty million demi-gods search for-meeting the Guru, one comes to sing His Praises within the heart. ||2||
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਤੁਧੁ ਜਾਪੇ ਪਵਨਾ ॥
aatth pehar tudh jaape pavanaa |
Twenty-four hours a day, the wind breathes Your Name.
ਧਰਤੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਪਾਇਕ ਚਰਨਾ ॥
dharatee sevak paaeik charanaa |
The earth is Your servant, a slave at Your Feet.
ਖਾਣੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
khaanee baanee sarab nivaasee sabhanaa kai man bhaavaniaa |3|
In the four sources of creation, and in all speech, You dwell. You are dear to the minds of all. ||3||
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
saachaa saahib guramukh jaapai |
The True Lord and Master is known to the Gurmukhs.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਿਞਾਪੈ ॥
poore gur kai sabad siyaapai |
He is realized through the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru.
ਜਿਨ ਪੀਆ ਸੇਈ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਅਘਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
jin peea seee tripataase sache sach aghaavaniaa |4|
Those who drink it in are satisfied. Through the Truest of the True, they are fulfilled. ||4||
ਤਿਸੁ ਘਰਿ ਸਹਜਾ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
tis ghar sahajaa soee suhelaa |
In the home of their own beings, they are peacefully and comfortably at ease.
ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਕਰੇ ਸਦ ਕੇਲਾ ॥
anad binod kare sad kelaa |
They are blissful, enjoying pleasures, and eternally joyful.
ਸੋ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਸੋ ਵਡ ਸਾਹਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
so dhanavantaa so vadd saahaa jo gur charanee man laavaniaa |5|
They are wealthy, and the greatest kings; they center their minds on the Guru's Feet. ||5||
ਪਹਿਲੋ ਦੇ ਤੈਂ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਮਾਹਾ ॥
pahilo de tain rijak samaahaa |
First, You created nourishment;
ਪਿਛੋ ਦੇ ਤੈਂ ਜੰਤੁ ਉਪਾਹਾ ॥
pichho de tain jant upaahaa |
then, You created the living beings.
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
tudh jevadd daataa avar na suaamee lavai na koee laavaniaa |6|
There is no other Giver as Great as You, O my Lord and Master. None approach or equal You. ||6||
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਤੁਠਾ ਸੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
jis toon tutthaa so tudh dhiaae |
Those who are pleasing to You meditate on You.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
saadh janaa kaa mantru kamaae |
They practice the Mantra of the Holy.
ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
aap tarai sagale kul taare tis daragah tthaak na paavaniaa |7|
They themselves swim across, and they save all their ancestors and families as well. In the Court of the Lord, they meet with no obstruction. ||7||
ਤੂੰ ਵਡਾ ਤੂੰ ਊਚੋ ਊਚਾ ॥
toon vaddaa toon aoocho aoochaa |
You are so Great! You are the Highest of the High!
ਤੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਅਤਿ ਮੂਚੋ ਮੂਚਾ ॥
toon beant at moocho moochaa |
You are Infinite, You are Everything!
ਹਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਤੇਰੈ ਵੰਞਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧॥੩੫॥
hau kurabaanee terai vanyaa naanak daas dasaavaniaa |8|1|35|
I am a sacrifice to You. Nanak is the slave of Your slaves. ||8||1||35||

ਸਰਤਾ ਕਹੂੰ ਕੂਪੰ ਸਮੁਦ ਸਰੂਪੰ ਅਲਖ ਬਿਭੂਤੰ ਅਮਿਤ ਗਤੰ ॥
sarataa kahoon koopan samud saroopan alakh bibhootan amit gatan |
Somewhere Thou art in the form of stream, somewhere well and somewhere Ocean Thou art of Incomprehensible wealth and Unlimited movement.
ਅਦ੍ਵੈ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੀ ਤੇਜ ਸੁਰਾਸੀ ਅਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਤੰ ॥
advai abinaasee param prakaasee tej suraasee akrit kritan |
Thou art Non-dual, Indestructible, Illuminator of thy light, the outlay of splendour and Creator of the Uncreated.
ਜਿਹ ਰੂਪ ਨ ਰੇਖੰ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਖੰ ਅਮਿਤ ਅਦ੍ਵੈਖੰ ਸਰਬ ਮਈ ॥
jih roop na rekhan alakh abhekhan amit advaikhan sarab mee |
Thou art without form and mark, Thou art Incomprehensible, Guiseless, Unlimited, Unblemished, manifesting all forms.
ਸਭ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਹਰਣੰ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਰਣੰ ਅਸਰਣਿ ਸਰਣੰ ਏਕ ਦਈ ॥੮॥੨੮॥
sabh kilavikh haranan patit udharanan asaran saranan ek dee |8|28|
Thou art the remover of sins, the redeemer of sinners and the only Motivator of keeping the patronless under refuge.8.28.

Thou hast long arms uptil Thy Kness, thou holdest the bow in Thy hand.
ਅਮਿਤ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗ ਜੋਤ ਪ੍ਰਕਰਣੰ ॥
amit jot jag jot prakaranan |
Thou hast unlimited light, Thou art the illuminator of light in the world.
ਖੜਗ ਪਾਣ ਖਲ ਦਲ ਬਲ ਹਰਣੰ ॥
kharrag paan khal dal bal haranan |
Thou art the bearer of sword in Thy hand and remover of the strength of the forces of foolish tyrants.
ਮਹਾਬਾਹੁ ਬਿਸ੍ਵੰਭਰ ਭਰਣੰ ॥੯॥੨੯॥

Thou art the Most Powerful and Sustainer of the Universe.9.29.

ਖਲ ਦਲ ਬਲ ਹਰਣੰ ਦੁਸਟ ਬਿਦਰਣੰ ਅਸਰਣ ਸਰਣੰ ਅਮਿਤ ਗਤੰ ॥
khal dal bal haranan dusatt bidaranan asaran saranan amit gatan |
Thou art the remover of the strength of the forces of foolish tyrants and causest fear fear amongst them Thou art the Keeper of patroness under Thy refuge and hast Unlimited movement.
ਚੰਚਲ ਚਖ ਚਾਰਣ ਮਛ ਬਿਡਾਰਣ ਪਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਣ ਅਮਿਤ ਮਤੰ ॥
chanchal chakh chaaran machh biddaaran paap prahaaran amit matan |
Thy mercurial eyes even undo the movement of the fishes Thou art the destroyer of sins and hast Unlimited intellect.
ਆਜਾਨ ਸੁ ਬਾਹੰ ਸਾਹਨ ਸਾਹੰ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਮਾਹੰ ਸਰਬ ਮਈ ॥
aajaan su baahan saahan saahan mahimaa maahan sarab mee |
Thou hast long arms upto the Knees and art the king of kings, Thy Praise Pervades all likewise.
ਜਲ ਥਲ ਬਨ ਰਹਿਤਾ ਬਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਨਿ ਕਹਿਤਾ ਖਲ ਦਲਿ ਦਹਿਤਾ ਸੁ ਨਰਿ ਸਹੀ ॥੧੦॥੩੦॥
jal thal ban rahitaa ban trin kahitaa khal dal dahitaa su nar sahee |10|30|
Thou abidest in waters, on land and in forests, Thou art praised by forest and blades of grass O Supreme Purusha! Thou art the consumer of the forces of foolish tyrants.10.30.

Thou art Most Powerful and Destroyer of the forces of the tyrants.

amit prataap sagal jag bandan |
Thy Glory is unlimited and all the world bows before Thee.
ਸੋਹਤ ਚਾਰੁ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਚੰਦਨ ॥
sohat chaar chitr kar chandan |
The beautiful painting appears good-looking like the moon.
ਪਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਣ ਦੁਸਟ ਦਲ ਦੰਡਨ ॥੧੧॥੩੧॥
paap prahaaran dusatt dal danddan |11|31|
Thou art the Destroyer of sins Punisher of the forces of the tyrants.11.31.

CHAPAI STANZA
ਬੇਦ ਭੇਦ ਨਹੀ ਲਖੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨਹੀ ਬੁਝੈ ॥
bed bhed nahee lakhai braham brahamaa nahee bujhai |
The Vedas and even Brahma do not know the secret of Brahman.
ਬਿਆਸ ਪਰਾਸੁਰ ਸੁਕ ਸਨਾਦਿ ਸਿਵ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਸੁਝੈ ॥
biaas paraasur suk sanaad siv ant na sujhai |
Vyas, Parashar, Sukhedev, Sanak etc., and Shiva do not know His Limits.
ਸਨਤਿ ਕੁਆਰ ਸਨਕਾਦਿ ਸਰਬ ਜਉ ਸਮਾ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
sanat kuaar sanakaad sarab jau samaa na paaveh |
Sanat Kumar, Sanak etc., all of them do not comprehend the time.
ਲਖ ਲਖਮੀ ਲਖ ਬਿਸਨ ਕਿਸਨ ਕਈ ਨੇਤ ਬਤਾਵਹਿ ॥
lakh lakhamee lakh bisan kisan kee net bataaveh |
Lakhs of Lakshmis and Vishnus and many Krishnas call Him “NETI”.
ਅਸੰਭ ਰੂਪ ਅਨਭੈ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਅਤਿ ਬਲਿਸਟ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਕਰਣ ॥
asanbh roop anabhai prabhaa at balisatt jal thal karan |
He is an Unborn Entity, His Glory is manifested through knowledge, He is most powerful and cause of the creation of water and land.
ਅਚੁਤ ਅਨੰਤ ਅਦ੍ਵੈ ਅਮਿਤ ਨਾਥ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਤਵ ਸਰਣ ॥੧॥੩੨॥
achut anant advai amit naath niranjan tav saran |1|32|
He is imperishable, boundless, Non-dual, Unlimited and the Transcendent Lord, I am in Thy Refuge. 1 .32
ਅਚੁਤ ਅਭੈ ਅਭੇਦ ਅਮਿਤ ਆਖੰਡ ਅਤੁਲ ਬਲ ॥
achut abhai abhed amit aakhandd atul bal |
He is imperishable, boundless, Non-dual, Unlimited, Indivisible, and hath Unweighable Strenght.
ਅਟਲ ਅਨੰਤ ਅਨਾਦਿ ਅਖੈ ਅਖੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਦਲ ॥
attal anant anaad akhai akhandd prabal dal |
He is Eternal, Infinite, Beginningless, Indivisible, and Master of Mighty forces.
ਅਮਿਤ ਅਮਿਤ ਅਨਤੋਲ ਅਭੂ ਅਨਭੇਦ ਅਭੰਜਨ ॥
amit amit anatol abhoo anabhed abhanjan |
He is Limits Boundless, Unweighable, elementless, indiscriminated and Invincible.
ਅਨਬਿਕਾਰ ਆਤਮ ਸਰੂਪ ਸੁਰ ਨਰ ਮੁਨ ਰੰਜਨ ॥
anabikaar aatam saroop sur nar mun ranjan |
He is Spiritual Entity without vices, pleasing to gods, men and sages.
ਅਬਿਕਾਰ ਰੂਪ ਅਨਭੈ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਨ ਜਨ ਗਨ ਬੰਦਤ ਚਰਨ ॥
abikaar roop anabhai sadaa mun jan gan bandat charan |
He is and Entity without vices, always Fearless, the assemblies of sages and men bow at His Feet.
ਭਵ ਭਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਦੋਖ ਹਰਨ ਅਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਹਰਨ ॥੨॥੩੩॥
bhav bharan karan dukh dokh haran at prataap bhram bhai haran |2|33|
He pervades the world, removes the sufferings and blemishes, Supremely Glorious and effacer of illusions and fears.2.33.

CHHAPAI STANZA : BY THY GRACE
ਮੁਖ ਮੰਡਲ ਪਰ ਲਸਤ ਜੋਤਿ ਉਦੋਤ ਅਮਿਤ ਗਤਿ ॥
mukh manddal par lasat jot udot amit gat |
On his facial sphere glistens the brilliant light of infinite movement.
ਜਟਤ ਜੋਤ ਜਗਮਗਤ ਲਜਤ ਲਖ ਕੋਟਿ ਨਿਖਤਿ ਪਤਿ ॥
jattat jot jagamagat lajat lakh kott nikhat pat |
Such is the setting and illumination of that Light that lakhs and millions of moon feel shy before it.
ਚਕ੍ਰਵਰਤੀ ਚਕ੍ਰਵੈ ਚਕ੍ਰਤ ਚਉਚਕ੍ਰ ਕਰਿ ਧਰਿ ॥
chakravaratee chakravai chakrat chauchakr kar dhar |
He carries the four corners of the world on His hand and thus the universal monarchs are amazed.
ਪਦਮ ਨਾਥ ਪਦਮਾਛ ਨਵਲ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਨਰਿਹਰਿ ॥
padam naath padamaachh naval naaraaein narihar |
The Ever-new Lord with lotus-eyes, He is the Lord of men.
ਕਾਲਖ ਬਿਹੰਡਣ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਹਰਣ ਸੁਰ ਨਰ ਮੁਨ ਬੰਦਤ ਚਰਣ ॥
kaalakh bihanddan kilavikh haran sur nar mun bandat charan |
Remover of darkness and destroyer of sins, all the gods, men and sages bow at His Feet.
ਖੰਡਣ ਅਖੰਡ ਮੰਡਣ ਅਭੈ ਨਮੋ ਨਾਥ ਭਉ ਭੈ ਹਰਣ ॥੩॥੩੪॥
khanddan akhandd manddan abhai namo naath bhau bhai haran |3|34|
He is breaker of the unbreakable He is the establisher on the Fearless position Salutation to Thee, O Lord, the remover of fear.3.34.

ਨਮੋ ਨਾਥ ਨ੍ਰਿਦਾਇਕ ਨਮੋ ਨਿਮ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ॥

Salutation to Him the Merciful Donor Lord! Salutation to Him, the Transcendent and Modest Lord!
ਅਗੰਜਾਣ ਅਗੰਜਣ ਅਭੰਜ ਅਨਭੇਦ ਅਭੰਜਨ ॥
aganjaan aganjan abhanj anabhed abhanjan |
The Destroyer of Indestructible, Invincible, Indiscriminate and Imperishable Lord.
ਅਛੈ ਅਖੈ ਅਬਿਕਾਰ ਅਭੈ ਅਨਭਿਜ ਅਭੇਦਨ ॥
achhai akhai abikaar abhai anabhij abhedan |
Inassailable, Incorruptible, Devoid of vices, Fearless, unattached and Undistinguishable Lord.
ਅਖੈਦਾਨ ਖੇਦਨ ਅਖਿਜ ਅਨਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਅਛੇਦਨ ॥
akhaidaan khedan akhij anachhidr achhedan |
Affliction of the Unafflicted, Blissful without blemish and the Unassailable.
ਆਜਾਨ ਬਾਹੁ ਸਾਰੰਗਧਰ ਖੜਗਪਾਣ ਦੁਰਜਨ ਦਲਣ ॥
aajaan baahu saarangadhar kharragapaan durajan dalan |
The Lord with long arms upto knees, wearer of the bow and the sword for vanquishing the enemies.
ਨਰ ਵਰ ਨਰੇਸ ਨਾਇਕ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਣਿ ਨਮੋ ਨਵਲ ਜਲ ਥਲ ਰਵਣਿ ॥੪॥੩੫॥
nar var nares naaeik nripan namo naval jal thal ravan |4|35|
The Sovereign of good people, hero and Master of armies Salutation to Him who Pervades water and lands.4.35.
ਦੀਨ ਦਯਾਲ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਣ ਦੁਰਮਤ ਹੰਤਾ ਦੁਖ ਖੰਡਣ ॥
deen dayaal dukh haran duramat hantaa dukh khanddan |
He is the Merciful Lord of the lowly, destroyer of suffering, and vicious intellect and the refuter of suffering.
ਮਹਾ ਮੋਨ ਮਨ ਹਰਨ ਮਦਨ ਮੂਰਤ ਮਹਿ ਮੰਡਨ ॥
mahaa mon man haran madan moorat meh manddan |
He is greatly peaceful, captivator of the heart, alluring like Cupid and Creator of the world.
ਅਮਿਤ ਤੇਜ ਅਬਿਕਾਰ ਅਖੈ ਆਭੰਜ ਅਮਿਤ ਬਲ ॥
amit tej abikaar akhai aabhanj amit bal |
He is the Lord of Limitless Glory, without vices, indestructible, Invincible having Boundless Power.
ਨਿਰਭੰਜ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਨਿਰਜੁਰ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਜਲ ਥਲ ॥
nirabhanj nirbhau niravair nirajur nrip jal thal |
He is Unbreakable, without fear and enmity, without malice and the monarch of waters and lands.
ਅਛੈ ਸਰੂਪ ਅਛੂ ਅਛਿਤ ਅਛੈ ਅਛਾਨ ਅਛਰ ॥
achhai saroop achhoo achhit achhai achhaan achhar |
He is unassailable Entity, Untouchable, Eternal, Imperishable, Unhidden and without deception.
ਅਦ੍ਵੈ ਸਰੂਪ ਅਦ੍ਵਿਯ ਅਮਰ ਅਭਿਬੰਦਤ ਸੁਰ ਨਰ ਅਸੁਰ ॥੫॥੩੬॥
advai saroop adviy amar abhibandat sur nar asur |5|36|
He is Non-dual Entity, Unique, Immortal and is deeply abored by gods, men and demons.5.36.
ਕੁਲ ਕਲੰਕ ਕਰਿ ਹੀਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਾਗਰ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਕਰ ॥
kul kalank kar heen kripaa saagar karunaa kar |
He is the ocean and source of Mercy and remover of blemishes from all.
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕੀ ਸੂਰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਰ ॥
