Kaanraa, Fifth Mehl:
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਗਤਨ ਹੂੰ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
bhagat bhagatan hoon ban aaee |
Devotion is the natural quality of God's devotees.
ਤਨ ਮਨ ਗਲਤ ਭਏ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਆਪਨ ਲੀਏ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tan man galat bhe tthaakur siau aapan lee milaaee |1| rahaau |
Their bodies and minds are blended with their Lord and Master; He unites them with Himself. ||1||Pause||
ਗਾਵਨਹਾਰੀ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੀਤ ॥
gaavanahaaree gaavai geet |
The singer sings the songs,
ਤੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਬਸੇ ਜਿਹ ਚੀਤ ॥੧॥
te udhare base jih cheet |1|
but she alone is saved, within whose consciousness the Lord abides. ||1||
ਪੇਖੇ ਬਿੰਜਨ ਪਰੋਸਨਹਾਰੈ ॥
pekhe binjan parosanahaarai |
The one who sets the table sees the food,
ਜਿਹ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਰੈ ॥੨॥
jih bhojan keeno te tripataarai |2|
but only one who eats the food is satisfied. ||2||
ਅਨਿਕ ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗ ਕਾਛੇ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ॥
anik svaang kaachhe bhekhadhaaree |
People disguise themselves with all sorts of costumes,
ਜੈਸੋ ਸਾ ਤੈਸੋ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
jaiso saa taiso drisattaaree |3|
but in the end, they are seen as they truly are. ||3||
ਕਹਨ ਕਹਾਵਨ ਸਗਲ ਜੰਜਾਰ ॥
kehan kahaavan sagal janjaar |
Speaking and talking are all just entanglements.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰ ॥੪॥੫॥
naanak daas sach karanee saar |4|5|
O slave Nanak, the true way of life is excellent. ||4||5||

ਤੇਰੋ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਉਮਾਹਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tero jan har jas sunat umaahio |1| rahaau |
Your humble servant listens to Your Praises with delight. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਪੇਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਆਹਿਓ ॥੧॥
maneh pragaas pekh prabh kee sobhaa jat kat pekhau aahio |1|
My mind is enlightened, gazing upon the Glory of God. Wherever I look, there He is. ||1||
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਪਰੈ ਪਰੈ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਅਥਾਹਿਓ ॥੨॥
sabh te parai parai te aoochaa gahir ganbheer athaahio |2|
You are the farthest of all, the highest of the far, profound, unfathomable and unreachable. ||2||
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਭਗਤਨ ਕਉ ਜਨ ਸਿਉ ਪਰਦਾ ਲਾਹਿਓ ॥੩॥
ot pot milio bhagatan kau jan siau paradaa laahio |3|
You are united with Your devotees, through and through; You have removed Your veil for Your humble servants. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਸਮਾਹਿਓ ॥੪॥੬॥
gur prasaad gaavai gun naanak sehaj samaadh samaahio |4|6|
By Guru's Grace, Nanak sings Your Glorious Praises; he is intuitively absorbed in Samaadhi. ||4||6||

ਸੰਤਨ ਪਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਆਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
santan peh aap udhaaran aaeo |1| rahaau |
I have come to the Saints to save myself. ||1||Pause||
ਦਰਸਨ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਤ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
darasan bhettat hot puneetaa har har mantru drirraaeo |1|
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of their Darshan, I am sanctified; they have implanted the Mantra of the Lord, Har, Har, within me. ||1||
ਕਾਟੇ ਰੋਗ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਖਾਇਓ ॥੨॥
kaatte rog bhe man niramal har har aaukhadh khaaeo |2|
The disease has been eradicated, and my mind has become immaculate. I have taken the healing medicine of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||
ਅਸਥਿਤ ਭਏ ਬਸੇ ਸੁਖ ਥਾਨਾ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਧਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
asathit bhe base sukh thaanaa bahur na katahoo dhaaeo |3|
I have become steady and stable, and I dwell in the home of peace. I shall never again wander anywhere. ||3||
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਲੋਗਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਪਤ ਨ ਮਾਇਓ ॥੪॥੭॥
sant prasaad tare kul logaa naanak lipat na maaeo |4|7|
By the Grace of the Saints, the people and all their generations are saved; O Nanak, they are not engrossed in Maya. ||4||7||

Kaanraa, Fifth Mehl:
ਬਿਸਰਿ ਗਈ ਸਭ ਤਾਤਿ ਪਰਾਈ ॥
bisar gee sabh taat paraaee |
I have totally forgotten my jealousy of others,
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jab te saadhasangat mohi paaee |1| rahaau |
since I found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਬੈਰੀ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥੧॥
naa ko bairee nahee bigaanaa sagal sang ham kau ban aaee |1|
No one is my enemy, and no one is a stranger. I get along with everyone. ||1||
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਨੋ ਸੋ ਭਲ ਮਾਨਿਓ ਏਹ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
jo prabh keeno so bhal maanio eeh sumat saadhoo te paaee |2|
Whatever God does, I accept that as good. This is the sublime wisdom I have obtained from the Holy. ||2||
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੈ ਪੇਖਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਗਸਾਈ ॥੩॥੮॥
sabh meh rav rahiaa prabh ekai pekh pekh naanak bigasaaee |3|8|
The One God is pervading in all. Gazing upon Him, beholding Him, Nanak blossoms forth in happiness. ||3||8||

ਠਾਕੁਰ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਪਰਨਾ ॥
tthaakur jeeo tuhaaro paranaa |
O my Dear Lord and Master, You alone are my Support.
ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੈ ਊਪਰਿ ਤੁਮੑਰੀ ਓਟ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maan mehat tumaarai aoopar tumaree ott tumaaree saranaa |1| rahaau |
You are my Honor and Glory; I seek Your Support, and Your Sanctuary. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਮੑਰੀ ਆਸ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਤੁਮੑਰਾ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਲੈ ਧਰਨਾ ॥
tumaree aas bharosaa tumaraa tumaraa naam ridai lai dharanaa |
You are my Hope, and You are my Faith. I take Your Name and enshrine it within my heart.
ਤੁਮਰੋ ਬਲੁ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਹਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਨਾ ॥੧॥
tumaro bal tum sang suhele jo jo kahahu soee soee karanaa |1|
You are my Power; associating with You, I am embellished and exalted. I do whatever You say. ||1||
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਉ ਹੋਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਤ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰਨਾ ॥
tumaree deaa meaa sukh paavau hohu kripaal ta bhaujal taranaa |
Through Your Kindness and Compassion, I find peace; when You are Merciful, I cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਅਭੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਓ ਸਿਰੁ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨਾ ॥੨॥੯॥
abhai daan naam har paaeo sir ddaario naanak sant charanaa |2|9|
Through the Name of the Lord, I obtain the gift of fearlessness; Nanak places his head on the feet of the Saints. ||2||9||

ਮਨ ਮਾਨਤ ਰਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਦੁਹੂ ਤਿਨ ॥੧੨॥
man maanat rat karee duhoo tin |12|
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਚੁੰਬਨ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
bhaat bhaat chunban duhoon leeno |
ਅਨਿਕ ਅਨਿਕ ਆਸਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਦੀਨੇ ॥
anik anik aasan triy deene |
ਅਸ ਲੁਭਧਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋ ਚਿਤਾ ॥
as lubhadhaa raajaa ko chitaa |
ਜਸ ਗੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਕਬਿਤਾ ॥੧੩॥
jas gun jan sun sravan kabitaa |13|
ਰਾਨੀ ਕਹਤ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨੁ ਮੀਤਾ ॥
raanee kehat bachan sun meetaa |
ਤੌ ਸੌ ਬਧਾ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਚੀਤਾ ॥
tau sau badhaa hamaaraa cheetaa |
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਤਵ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਬਿੰਬੁ ਨਿਹਾਰਾ ॥
jab te tav pratibinb nihaaraa |
ਤਬ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਹਠ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੧੪॥
tab te man hatth pariyo hamaaraa |14|
ਨਿਤਿਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਚਹੈ ਤੁਮੀ ਸੰਗ ਜਾਊ ॥
nitiprat chahai tumee sang jaaoo |
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਾਨਿ ਨ ਲ︀ਯਾਊ ॥
maat pitaa kee kaan na layaaoo |
ਅਬ ਕਿਛੁ ਅਸ ਪਿਯ ਚਰਿਤ ਬਨੈਯੈ ॥
ab kichh as piy charit banaiyai |
ਲਾਜ ਰਹੈ ਤੋਹਿ ਪਤਿ ਪੈਯੈ ॥੧੫॥
laaj rahai tohi pat paiyai |15|
ਛੋਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਤਿਹ ਭੂਪ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥
chhor kathaa tih bhoop sunaaee |
ਨਿਜੁ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਜਤਾਈ ॥
nij nrip taa kee kathaa jataaee |
ਮੈ ਹੌ ਰਾਸਟ੍ਰ ਦੇਸ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
mai hau raasattr des ko raajaa |
ਤਵ ਹਿਤ ਭੇਸ ਅਤਿਥ ਕੋ ਸਾਜਾ ॥੧੬॥
tav hit bhes atith ko saajaa |16|
ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਲਗੇ ਤੁਮ ਸੌ ਹਮਰੇ ਤਬ ॥
netr lage tum sau hamare tab |
ਤਵ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਬਿੰਬੁ ਲਖੇ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਜਬ ॥
tav pratibinb lakhe jal meh jab |
ਤਵ ਮੁਰਿ ਜਬ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਬਿੰਬੁ ਨਿਹਾਰਾ ॥
tav mur jab pratibinb nihaaraa |
ਗਯੋ ਮਾਰਿ ਤੁਹਿ ਮਦਨ ਕਟਾਰਾ ॥੧੭॥
gayo maar tuhi madan kattaaraa |17|
ਮੁਹਿ ਲਖਿ ਧੀਰਜ ਨ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਰਹਾ ॥
muhi lakh dheeraj na tumaraa rahaa |
ਸੁਰੰਗਿ ਖੋਦਿ ਸਖਿਯਨ ਅਸ ਕਹਾ ॥
surang khod sakhiyan as kahaa |
ਸੋ ਗਹਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਗੀ ਤੀਰ ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
so geh muhi gee teer tihaaree |
ਚਹਤ ਜੋ ਥੋ ਸੋ ਭਈ ਪਿਯਾਰੀ ॥੧੮॥
chehat jo tho so bhee piyaaree |18|
ਦੁਹੂੰ ਬੈਠ ਇਕ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
duhoon baitth ik mantr bichaaraa |
ਮੈ ਰਾਜਾ ਲਖਿ ਗਯੋ ਰਖਵਾਰਾ ॥
mai raajaa lakh gayo rakhavaaraa |
ਪਿਯ ਪਠਾਇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਐਸ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥
piy patthaae grih ais uchaaree |
ਲੋਨ ਲੇਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਨਾਰ ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੧੯॥
lon let nrip naar tihaaree |19|
ਸੁਨਤ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸਭ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਏ ॥
sunat sravan sabh jan mil aae |
ਆਨਿ ਤਵਨ ਕਹ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥
aan tavan keh bachan sunaae |
ਕਿਹ ਨਿਮਿਤ ਛਾਡਤ ਹੈ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
kih nimit chhaaddat hai dehee |
ਸੁਨਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਸਨੇਹੀ ॥੨੦॥
sun raajaa kee naar sanehee |20|
ਸੁਨੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਇਕ ਦਿਜ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ਮੁਹਿ ॥
sun raajaa ik dij maariyo muhi |
ਲੋਨ ਲੇਊਗੀ ਸਾਚ ਕਹੂੰ ਤੁਹਿ ॥
lon leaoogee saach kahoon tuhi |
ਜੋ ਧਨ ਹਮਰੇ ਧਾਮ ਨਿਹਾਰਹੁ ॥
jo dhan hamare dhaam nihaarahu |
ਸੋ ਸਭ ਗਾਡਿ ਗੋਰਿ ਮਹਿ ਡਾਰਹੁ ॥੨੧॥
so sabh gaadd gor meh ddaarahu |21|
ਹੋਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਭ ਏਕ ਨ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
hor rahe sabh ek na maanee |
ਪਰੀ ਭੋਹਰਾ ਭੀਤਰ ਰਾਨੀ ॥
paree bhoharaa bheetar raanee |
ਆਸ ਪਾਸ ਲੈ ਲੋਨ ਬਿਥਾਰੋ ॥
aas paas lai lon bithaaro |
ਜੋ ਧਨ ਹੁਤੋ ਗਾਡਿ ਸਭ ਡਾਰੋ ॥੨੨॥
jo dhan huto gaadd sabh ddaaro |22|
ਸੁਰੰਗਿ ਸੁਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਨੀ ਤਹ ਆਈ ॥
surang surang raanee teh aaee |
ਬੈਠੇ ਜਹਾ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
baitthe jahaa meet sukhadaaee |
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਸੰਗ ਲੌ ਤਹੀ ਸਿਧਾਰੀ ॥
taa ko sang lau tahee sidhaaree |
ਮੂੜ ਲੋਗ ਕਛੁ ਗਤਿ ਨ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥੨੩॥
moorr log kachh gat na bichaaree |23|
