ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥

O mind, chant the Name of the Lord, and be enlightened.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਨੀ ਵਿਚੇ ਗਿਰਹ ਉਦਾਸ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ke sant mil preet lagaanee viche girah udaas |1| rahaau |
Meet with the Saints of the Lord, and focus your love; remain balanced and detached within your own household. ||1||Pause||
ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਰਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਸ ॥
ham har hiradai japio naam narahar prabh kripaa karee kirapaas |
I chant the Name of the Lord, Nar-Har, within my heart; God the Merciful has shown His Mercy.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸਿਆ ਉਦਮ ਭਏ ਮਿਲਨ ਕੀ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
anadin anad bheaa man bigasiaa udam bhe milan kee aas |1|
Night and day, I am in ecstasy; my mind has blossomed forth, rejuvenated. I am trying - I hope to meet my Lord. ||1||
ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਾਸ ਲੀਏ ਹਮ ਗ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
ham har suaamee preet lagaaee jitane saas lee ham graas |
I am in love with the Lord, my Lord and Master; I love Him with every breath and morsel of food I take.
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦਹਨ ਭਏ ਖਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੂਟਿ ਗਏ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਫਾਸ ॥੨॥
kilabikh dehan bhe khin antar toott ge maaeaa ke faas |2|
My sins were burnt away in an instant; the noose of the bondage of Maya was loosened. ||2||
ਕਿਆ ਹਮ ਕਿਰਮ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਰਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤਾਸ ॥
kiaa ham kiram kiaa karam kamaaveh moorakh mugadh rakhe prabh taas |
I am such a worm! What karma am I creating? What can I do? I am a fool, a total idiot, but God has saved me.
ਅਵਗਨੀਆਰੇ ਪਾਥਰ ਭਾਰੇ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਤਰੇ ਤਰਾਸ ॥੩॥
avaganeeaare paathar bhaare satasangat mil tare taraas |3|
I am unworthy, heavy as stone, but joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I am carried across to the other side. ||3||
ਜੇਤੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੀ ਜਗਦੀਸਰਿ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਊਚ ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਖਿਆਸ ॥
jetee srisatt karee jagadeesar te sabh aooch ham neech bikhiaas |
The Universe which God created is all above me; I am the lowest, engrossed in corruption.
ਹਮਰੇ ਅਵਗੁਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਟੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸ ॥੪॥੩॥
hamare avagun sang gur mette jan naanak mel lee prabh paas |4|3|
With the Guru, my faults and demerits have been erased. Servant Nanak has been united with God Himself. ||4||3||

ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਵਾਕ ॥

O my mind, chant the Name of the Lord, through the Guru's Word.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਜਗਦੀਸਰਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਗਇਓ ਸਭ ਝਾਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har kripaa karee jagadeesar duramat doojaa bhaau geo sabh jhaak |1| rahaau |
The Lord, Har, Har, has shown me His Mercy, and my evil-mindedness, love of duality and sense of alienation are totally gone, thanks to the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਓ ਗੁਪਲਾਕ ॥
naanaa roop rang har kere ghatt ghatt raam ravio gupalaak |
There are so many forms and colors of the Lord. The Lord is pervading each and every heart, and yet He is hidden from view.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਉਘਰਿ ਗਏ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੇ ਤਾਕ ॥੧॥
har ke sant mile har pragatte ughar ge bikhiaa ke taak |1|
Meeting with the Lord's Saints, the Lord is revealed, and the doors of corruption are shattered. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਜਿਨ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿਕ ਰਸਾਕ ॥
sant janaa kee bahut bahu sobhaa jin ur dhaario har rasik rasaak |
The glory of the Saintly beings is absolutely great; they lovingly enshrine the Lord of Bliss and Delight within their hearts.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜੈਸੇ ਗਊ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਛਰਾਕ ॥੨॥
har ke sant mile har miliaa jaise gaoo dekh bachharaak |2|
Meeting with the Lord's Saints, I meet with the Lord, just as when the calf is seen - the cow is there as well. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਜਨਕ ਜਨਾਕ ॥
har ke sant janaa meh har har te jan aootam janak janaak |
The Lord, Har, Har, is within the humble Saints of the Lord; they are exalted - they know, and they inspire others to know as well.
ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਾਸੁ ਬਸਾਨੀ ਛੂਟਿ ਗਈ ਮੁਸਕੀ ਮੁਸਕਾਕ ॥੩॥
tin har hiradai baas basaanee chhoott gee musakee musakaak |3|
The fragrance of the Lord permeates their hearts; they have abandoned the foul stench. ||3||
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਜਨ ਤੁਮੑ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਆਪਨ ਅਪਨਾਕ ॥
tumare jan tuma hee prabh kee har raakh lehu aapan apanaak |
You make those humble beings Your Own, God; You protect Your Own, O Lord.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਬੰਧਪ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਕ ॥੪॥੪॥
jan naanak ke sakhaa har bhaaee maat pitaa bandhap har saak |4|4|
The Lord is servant Nanak's companion; the Lord is his sibling, mother, father, relative and relation. ||4||4||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
mere man har har raam naam jap cheet |
O my mind, consciously chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਗੜੑਿ ਵੇੜੑੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਲੀਓ ਗੜੁ ਜੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har vasat maaeaa garra verraee gur kai sabad leeo garr jeet |1| rahaau |
The commodity of the Lord, Har, Har, is locked in the fortress of Maya; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I have conquered the fortress. ||1||Pause||
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਭਰਮਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਬਹੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਆ ਲੁਬਧੋ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਮੋਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
mithiaa bharam bharam bahu bhramiaa lubadho putr kalatr moh preet |
In false doubt and superstition, people wander all around, lured by love and emotional attachment to their children and families.
ਜੈਸੇ ਤਰਵਰ ਕੀ ਤੁਛ ਛਾਇਆ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਦੇਹ ਭੀਤਿ ॥੧॥
jaise taravar kee tuchh chhaaeaa khin meh binas jaae deh bheet |1|
But just like the passing shade of the tree, your body-wall shall crumble in an instant. ||1||
ਹਮਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਜਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
hamare praan preetam jan aootam jin miliaa man hoe prateet |
The humble beings are exalted; they are my breath of life and my beloveds; meeting them, my mind is filled with faith.
ਪਰਚੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥੨॥
parachai raam raviaa ghatt antar asathir raam raviaa rang preet |2|
Deep within the heart, I am happy with the Pervading Lord; with love and joy, I dwell upon the Steady and Stable Lord. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਨੀਕੇ ਜਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਿ ਰੰਗੀਤਿ ॥
har ke sant sant jan neeke jin miliaan man rang rangeet |
The humble Saints, the Saints of the Lord, are noble and sublime; meeting them, the mind is tinged with love and joy.
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਹੈ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਕਬਹੂ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥੩॥
har rang lahai na utarai kabahoo har har jaae milai har preet |3|
The Lord's Love never fades away, and it never wears off. Through the Lord's Love, one goes and meets the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||
ਹਮ ਬਹੁ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਏ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਟੇ ਕਟਿਤ ਕਟੀਤਿ ॥
ham bahu paap kee aparaadhee gur kaatte kattit katteet |
I am a sinner; I have committed so many sins. The Guru has cut them, cut them, and hacked them off.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਮੁਖਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤਿ ॥੪॥੫॥
har har naam deeo mukh aaukhadh jan naanak patit puneet |4|5|
The Guru has placed the healing remedy of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, into my mouth. Servant Nanak, the sinner, has been purified and sanctified. ||4||5||

ਸੋਰਠ ਦੇਇ ਸੁਤਾ ਇਕ ਤਾ ਕੇ ॥
soratth dee sutaa ik taa ke |
ਔਰ ਨਾਰ ਸਮ ਤੁਲਿ ਨ ਵਾ ਕੇ ॥
aauar naar sam tul na vaa ke |
ਦੁਤਿਯ ਪਰਜ ਦੇ ਭਈ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
dutiy paraj de bhee kumaaree |
ਜਿਹ ਸੀ ਦੁਤਿਯ ਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
jih see dutiy na braham savaaree |2|
ਦੋਊ ਸੁਤਾ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਜਬ ਭਈ ॥
doaoo sutaa tarun jab bhee |
ਜਨ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਸੂਰ ਸਸਿ ਵਈ ॥
jan kar kiran soor sas vee |
ਐਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਹੋਤ ਭੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ॥
aisee prabhaa hot bhee tin kee |
ਬਾਛਾ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਜਿਨ ਕੀ ॥੩॥
baachhaa karat bidhaataa jin kee |3|
ਓਜ ਸੈਨ ਇਕ ਅਨਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਬਰ ॥
oj sain ik anat nripat bar |
ਜਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਮੈਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਯੋ ਬਪੁ ਧਰਿ ॥
jan kar main pragattiyo bap dhar |
ਸੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਖੇਲਨ ਚੜਾ ਸਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
so nrip khelan charraa sikaaraa |
ਰੋਝ ਰੀਛ ਮਾਰੇ ਝੰਖਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
rojh reechh maare jhankhaaraa |4|
ਨਿਕਸਿਯੋ ਤਹਾ ਏਕ ਝੰਖਾਰਾ ॥
nikasiyo tahaa ek jhankhaaraa |
ਦ੍ਵਾਦਸ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸੀਗ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
dvaadas jaa ke seeg apaaraa |
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤਿਹ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਧਵਾਵਾ ॥
nrip tih nirakh turang dhavaavaa |
ਪਾਛੇ ਚਲਾ ਕੋਸ ਬਹੁ ਆਵਾ ॥੫॥
paachhe chalaa kos bahu aavaa |5|
ਬਹੁਤ ਕੋਸ ਤਿਹ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਹਿ ਦਖੇਰਾ ॥
bahut kos tih mrigeh dakheraa |
ਚਾਕਰ ਏਕ ਨ ਪਹੁਚਾ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
chaakar ek na pahuchaa neraa |
ਆਯੋ ਦੇਸ ਸੋਰਠੀ ਕੇ ਮਹਿ ॥
aayo des soratthee ke meh |
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੀ ਸੁਤਾ ਅਨਾਤ ਹੁਤੀ ਜਹਿ ॥੬॥
nrip kee sutaa anaat hutee jeh |6|
ਆਨਿ ਤਹੀ ਝੰਖਾਰ ਨਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
aan tahee jhankhaar nikaaraa |
ਅਬਲਾ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਨਿਹਾਰਤਿ ਮਾਰਾ ॥
abalaa duhoon nihaarat maaraa |
ਐਸਾ ਬਾਨ ਤਵਨ ਕਹ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
aisaa baan tavan keh laagaa |
ਠੌਰ ਰਹਾ ਪਗ ਦ੍ਵੈਕ ਨ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੭॥
tthauar rahaa pag dvaik na bhaagaa |7|
ਰਾਜ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਨਿਹਾਰੋ ॥
raaj kuaaree duhoon nihaaro |
ਦੁਹੂੰ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਿਚਾਰੋ ॥
duhoon hridai ih bhaat bichaaro |
ਬਿਨੁ ਪੂਛੇ ਪਿਤੁ ਇਹ ਹਮ ਬਰਿ ਹੈ ॥
bin poochhe pit ih ham bar hai |
ਨਾਤਰ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਟਾਰੀ ਮਰਿ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
naatar maar kattaaree mar hai |8|
ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਭੂਪ ਤ੍ਰਿਖਾਤੁਰ ਭਯੋ ॥
tab lag bhoop trikhaatur bhayo |
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਕੇ ਸਹਿਤ ਤਹਾ ਚਲਿ ਗਯੋ ॥
mrig ke sahit tahaa chal gayo |
ਸੋ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਰਾਜ ਸੁ ਤਨ ਕਹ ਦੀਯੋ ॥
so mrig raaj su tan keh deeyo |
ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਸੀਤ ਬਾਰਿ ਲੈ ਪੀਯੋ ॥੯॥
tin ko seet baar lai peeyo |9|
ਬਾਧਾ ਬਾਜ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਕੇ ਤਰ ॥
baadhaa baaj ek drum ke tar |
ਸੋਵਤ ਭਯੋ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਭੂਪ ਸ੍ਰਮਾਤੁਰ ॥
sovat bhayo hvai bhoop sramaatur |
ਰਾਜ ਕੁਆਰਨ ਘਾਤ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥
raaj kuaaran ghaat pachhaanaa |
ਸਖਿਯਨ ਸੋ ਅਸ ਕਿਯਾ ਬਖਾਨਾ ॥੧੦॥
sakhiyan so as kiyaa bakhaanaa |10|
ਮਦਰਾ ਬਹੁ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਮੰਗਾਯੋ ॥
madaraa bahu duhoon kuar mangaayo |
ਸਾਤ ਬਾਰ ਜੋ ਹੁਤੋ ਚੁਆਯੋ ॥
saat baar jo huto chuaayo |
ਅਪਨ ਸਹਿਤ ਸਖਿਯਨ ਕੌ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਇ ॥
apan sahit sakhiyan kau prayaae |
ਅਧਿਕ ਮਤ ਕਰਿ ਦਈ ਸੁਵਾਇ ॥੧੧॥
adhik mat kar dee suvaae |11|
ਜਬ ਜਾਨਾ ਤੇ ਭਈ ਦਿਵਾਨੀ ॥
jab jaanaa te bhee divaanee |
ਸੋਏ ਸਕਲ ਪਹਰੂਆ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
soe sakal paharooaa jaanee |
ਦੁਹੂੰ ਸਨਾਹੀ ਲਈ ਮੰਗਾਇ ॥
duhoon sanaahee lee mangaae |
ਪਹਿਰਿ ਨਦੀ ਮੈ ਧਸੀ ਬਨਾਇ ॥੧੨॥
pahir nadee mai dhasee banaae |12|
ਤਰਤ ਤਰਤ ਆਈ ਤੇ ਤਹਾ ॥
tarat tarat aaee te tahaa |
ਸੋਵਤ ਸੁਤੋ ਨਰਾਧਿਪ ਜਹਾ ॥
sovat suto naraadhip jahaa |
ਪਕਰਿ ਪਾਵ ਤਿਹ ਦਿਯਾ ਜਗਾਇ ॥
pakar paav tih diyaa jagaae |
ਅਜਾ ਚਰਮ ਪਰ ਲਿਯਾ ਚੜਾਇ ॥੧੩॥
ajaa charam par liyaa charraae |13|
ਭੂਪਤਿ ਲਿਯਾ ਚੜਾਇ ਸਨਾਈ ॥
bhoopat liyaa charraae sanaaee |
ਸਰਿਤਾ ਬੀਚ ਪਰੀ ਪੁਨਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
saritaa beech paree pun jaaee |
ਤਰਤ ਤਰਤ ਅਪਨੋ ਤਜਿ ਦੇਸਾ ॥
tarat tarat apano taj desaa |
ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਭੀ ਤਿਹ ਦੇਸ ਨਰੇਸਾ ॥੧੪॥

ਜਬ ਕਛੁ ਸੁਧਿ ਸਖਿਯਨ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
jab kachh sudh sakhiyan tin paaee |
ਨ੍ਰਿਸੰਦੇਹ ਯੌ ਹੀ ਠਹਰਾਈ ॥
nrisandeh yau hee tthaharaaee |
ਮਦ ਸੌ ਭਈ ਜਾਨੁ ਮਤਵਾਰੀ ॥
mad sau bhee jaan matavaaree |
ਡੂਬਿ ਮੁਈ ਦੋਊ ਰਾਜ ਦੁਲਾਰੀ ॥੧੫॥
