ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਮੀਨ ਜਲ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥੧॥
chaatrik meen jal hee te sukh paaveh saaring sabad suhaaee |1|
The rainbird and the fish find peace in water; the deer is pleased by the sound of the bell. ||1||
ਰੈਨਿ ਬਬੀਹਾ ਬੋਲਿਓ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rain babeehaa bolio meree maaee |1| rahaau |
The rainbird chirps in the night, O my mother. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਉਲਟੈ ਕਬਹੂ ਜੋ ਤੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾਈ ॥੨॥
pria siau preet na ulattai kabahoo jo tai bhaavai saaee |2|
O my Beloved, my love for You shall never end, if it is Your Will. ||2||
ਨੀਦ ਗਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਨਿ ਥਾਕੀ ਸਚ ਮਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੩॥
need gee haumai tan thaakee sach mat ridai samaaee |3|
Sleep is gone, and egotism is exhausted from my body; my heart is permeated with the Teachings of Truth. ||3||
ਰੂਖਂੀ ਬਿਰਖਂੀ ਊਡਉ ਭੂਖਾ ਪੀਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥੪॥
rookhanee birakhanee aooddau bhookhaa peevaa naam subhaaee |4|
Flying among the trees and plants, I remain hungry; lovingly drinking in the Naam, the Name of the Lord, I am satisfied. ||4||
ਲੋਚਨ ਤਾਰ ਲਲਤਾ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੀ ਦਰਸਨ ਪਿਆਸ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੫॥
lochan taar lalataa bilalaatee darasan piaas rajaaee |5|
I stare at You, and my tongue cries out to You; I am so thirsty for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||5||
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰੀ ਤੇਤਾ ਤਨੁ ਤਾਪੈ ਕਾਪਰੁ ਅੰਗਿ ਨ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥੬॥
pria bin seegaar karee tetaa tan taapai kaapar ang na suhaaee |6|
Without my Beloved, the more I decorate myself, the more my body burns; these clothes do not look good on my body. ||6||
ਅਪਨੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਂਉ ਬਿਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਨਂੀਦ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੭॥
apane piaare bin ik khin reh na saknau bin mile naneed na paaee |7|
Without my Beloved, I cannot survive even for an instant; without meeting Him, I cannot sleep. ||7||
ਪਿਰੁ ਨਜੀਕਿ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਬਪੁੜੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੮॥
pir najeek na boojhai bapurree satigur deea dikhaaee |8|
Her Husband Lord is nearby, but the wretched bride does not know it. The True Guru reveals Him to her. ||8||
ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੯॥
sehaj miliaa tab hee sukh paaeaa trisanaa sabad bujhaaee |9|
When she meets Him with intuitive ease, she finds peace; the Word of the Shabad quenches the fire of desire. ||9||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੦॥੩॥
kahu naanak tujh te man maaniaa keemat kehan na jaaee |10|3|
Says Nanak, through You, O Lord, my mind is pleased and appeased; I cannot express Your worth. ||10||3||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਖਲੀ ਊਂਡੀ ਜਲੁ ਭਰ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
akhalee aoonddee jal bhar naal |
The earth bends under the weight of the water,
ਡੂਗਰੁ ਊਚਉ ਗੜੁ ਪਾਤਾਲਿ ॥
ddoogar aoochau garr paataal |
the lofty mountains and the caverns of the underworld.
ਸਾਗਰੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਗੁਰਸਬਦ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
saagar seetal gurasabad veechaar |
Contemplating the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the oceans become calm.
ਮਾਰਗੁ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
maarag mukataa haumai maar |1|
The path of liberation is found by subduing the ego. ||1||
ਮੈ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੀ ਜੋਤਿ ॥
mai andhule naavai kee jot |
I am blind; I seek the Light of the Name.
ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰਿ ਚਲਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭੈ ਭੇਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam adhaar chalaa gur kai bhai bhet |1| rahaau |
I take the Support of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. I walk on the path of mystery of the Guru's Fear. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਪਾਧਰੁ ਜਾਣਿ ॥
satigurasabadee paadhar jaan |
Through the Shabad, the Word of the True Guru, the Path is known.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਤਕੀਐ ਸਾਚੈ ਤਾਣਿ ॥
gur kai takeeai saachai taan |
With the Guru's Support, one is blessed with the strength of the True Lord.
ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮੑਾਲਸਿ ਰੂੜੑੀ ਬਾਣਿ ॥
naam samaalas roorraee baan |
Dwell on the Naam, and realize the Beauteous Word of His Bani.
ਥੈਂ ਭਾਵੈ ਦਰੁ ਲਹਸਿ ਪਿਰਾਣਿ ॥੨॥
thain bhaavai dar lehas piraan |2|
If it is Your Will, Lord, You lead me to find Your Door. ||2||
ਊਡਾਂ ਬੈਸਾ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਤਾਰ ॥
aooddaan baisaa ek liv taar |
Flying high or sitting down, I am lovingly focused on the One Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਾਮ ਆਧਾਰ ॥
gur kai sabad naam aadhaar |
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I take the Naam as my Suppport.
ਨਾ ਜਲੁ ਡੂੰਗਰੁ ਨ ਊਚੀ ਧਾਰ ॥
naa jal ddoongar na aoochee dhaar |
There is no ocean of water, no mountain ranges rising up.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਤਹ ਮਗੁ ਨ ਚਾਲਣਹਾਰ ॥੩॥
nij ghar vaasaa teh mag na chaalanahaar |3|
I dwell within the home of my own inner being, where there is no path and no one travelling on it. ||3||
ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਵਸਹਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਬੀਜਉ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
jit ghar vaseh toohai bidh jaaneh beejau mehal na jaapai |
You alone know the way to that House in which You dwell. No one else knows the Mansion of Your Presence.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਸਮਝ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਦਬਿਆ ਛਾਪੈ ॥
satigur baajhahu samajh na hovee sabh jag dabiaa chhaapai |
Without the True Guru, there is no understanding. The whole world is buried under its nightmare.
ਕਰਣ ਪਲਾਵ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਲਲਾਤਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
karan palaav karai bilalaatau bin gur naam na jaapai |
The mortal tries all sorts of things, and weeps and wails, but without the Guru, he does not know the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਪਲ ਪੰਕਜ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਛਡਾਏ ਜੇ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਸਿਞਾਪੈ ॥੪॥
pal pankaj meh naam chhaddaae je gurasabad siyaapai |4|
In the twinkling of an eye, the Naam saves him, if he realizes the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||4||
ਇਕਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਧੇ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥
eik moorakh andhe mugadh gavaar |
Some are foolish, blind, stupid and ignorant.
ਇਕਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭੈ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
eik satigur kai bhai naam adhaar |
Some, through fear of the True Guru, take the Support of the Naam.
ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੀਠੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰ ॥
saachee baanee meetthee amrit dhaar |
The True Word of His Bani is sweet, the source of ambrosial nectar.
ਜਿਨਿ ਪੀਤੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰ ॥੫॥
jin peetee tis mokh duaar |5|
Whoever drinks it in, finds the Door of Salvation. ||5||
ਨਾਮੁ ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
naam bhai bhaae ridai vasaahee gur karanee sach baanee |
One who, through the love and fear of God, enshrines the Naam within his heart, acts according to the Guru's Instructions and knows the True Bani.
ਇੰਦੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਧਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
eind varasai dharat suhaavee ghatt ghatt jot samaanee |
When the clouds release their rain, the earth becomes beautiful; God's Light permeates each and every heart.
ਕਾਲਰਿ ਬੀਜਸਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਐਸੀ ਨਿਗੁਰੇ ਕੀ ਨੀਸਾਣੀ ॥
kaalar beejas duramat aisee nigure kee neesaanee |
The evil-minded ones plant their seed in the barren soil; such is the sign of those who have no Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ਡੂਬਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਾਣੀ ॥੬॥
satigur baajhahu ghor andhaaraa ddoob mue bin paanee |6|
Without the True Guru, there is utter darkness; they drown there, even without water. ||6||
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਰਜਾਇ ॥
jo kichh keeno su prabhoo rajaae |
Whatever God does, is by His Own Will.
ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਮੇਟਣਾ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
jo dhur likhiaa su mettanaa na jaae |
That which is pre-ordained cannot be erased.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਬਾਧਾ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
hukame baadhaa kaar kamaae |
Bound to the Hukam of the Lord's Command, the mortal does his deeds.
ਏਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਾਚੈ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੭॥
ek sabad raachai sach samaae |7|
Permeated by the One Word of the Shabad, the mortal is immersed in Truth. ||7||
ਚਹੁ ਦਿਸਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰਾ ਚਹੁ ਦਿਸਿ ਨਾਮ ਪਤਾਲੰ ॥
chahu dis hukam varatai prabh teraa chahu dis naam pataalan |
Your Command, O God, rules in the four directions; Your Name pervades the four corners of the nether regions as well.
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਚਾ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਬੈਆਲੰ ॥
sabh meh sabad varatai prabh saachaa karam milai baiaalan |
The True Word of the Shabad is pervading amongst all. By His Grace, the Eternal One unites us with Himself.
ਜਾਂਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਦੀਸੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਊਭੌ ਖੁਧਿਆ ਨਿਦ੍ਰਾ ਕਾਲੰ ॥
jaaman maranaa deesai sir aoobhau khudhiaa nidraa kaalan |
Birth and death hang over the heads of all beings, along with hunger, sleep and dying.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾਚੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਰਸਾਲੰ ॥੮॥੧॥੪॥
naanak naam milai man bhaavai saachee nadar rasaalan |8|1|4|
The Naam is pleasing to Nanak's mind; O True Lord, Source of bliss, please bless me with Your Grace. ||8||1||4||

ਜਾਨੁਕ ਸਿਥਰ ਅਗਨਿ ਕੀ ਜ੍ਵਾਲਾ ॥
jaanuk sithar agan kee jvaalaa |
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਉਜਿਯਾਰੀ ॥
sree sulataan kuar ujiyaaree |
ਕਨਕ ਅਵਟਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਜਨ ਢਾਰੀ ॥੨॥

ਜੋਬਨੰਗ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਜਬ ਭਯੋ ॥
jobanang taa ke jab bhayo |
ਬਾਲਾਪਨ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਗਯੋ ॥
baalaapan tab hee sabh gayo |
ਅੰਗ ਅੰਗ ਦਯੋ ਅਨੰਗ ਦਮਾਮਾ ॥
ang ang dayo anang damaamaa |
ਜਾਹਿਰ ਭਈ ਜਗਤ ਮਹਿ ਬਾਮਾ ॥੩॥
jaahir bhee jagat meh baamaa |3|
ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਕੁਅਰ ਤਹ ਆਵੈ ॥
sun sun prabhaa kuar teh aavai |
ਦ੍ਵਾਰੈ ਭੀਰ ਬਾਰ ਨਹਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
dvaarai bheer baar neh paavai |
ਏਕ ਤਰੁਨ ਤਰੁਨੀ ਕੌ ਭਾਯੋ ॥
ek tarun tarunee kau bhaayo |
ਜਾਨੁਕ ਮਦਨ ਰੂਪ ਧਰਿ ਆਯੋ ॥੪॥
jaanuk madan roop dhar aayo |4|
ਸੋਇ ਕੁਅਰ ਤਰੁਨੀ ਕੌ ਭਾਯੋ ॥
soe kuar tarunee kau bhaayo |
ਪਠੈ ਸਹਚਰੀ ਬੋਲਿ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥
patthai sahacharee bol patthaayo |
ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਿਧਿ ਵਾ ਸੋ ॥
kreerraa karee bahut bidh vaa so |
ਕੀਨੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਸੁਯੰਬਰ ਤਾ ਸੋ ॥੫॥
keeno praat suyanbar taa so |5|
ਜਬ ਹੀ ਬ︀ਯਾਹ ਤਵਨ ਸੌ ਕੀਯੋ ॥
jab hee bayaah tavan sau keeyo |
ਬਹੁਤਿਕ ਬਰਿਸ ਨ ਜਾਨੇ ਦੀਯੋ ॥
bahutik baris na jaane deeyo |
ਕ੍ਰੀੜਾ ਕਰੈ ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿਨ ਤਨ ॥
kreerraa karai bhaat bhaatin tan |
ਹਰਖ ਬਢਾਇ ਬਢਾਇ ਅਧਿਕ ਮਨ ॥੬॥
harakh badtaae badtaae adhik man |6|
ਭੋਗ ਬਹੁਤ ਦਿਨ ਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਕਯੋ ॥
bhog bahut din taa sang kayo |
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਬਲ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਲਯੋ ॥
taa ko bal sabh hee har layo |
ਜਬੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਧਾਤ ਕੁਅਰ ਵਹ ਭਯੋ ॥
jabai nridhaat kuar veh bhayo |
ਤਬ ਹੀ ਡਾਰਿ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਤੇ ਦਯੋ ॥੭॥
tab hee ddaar hridai te dayo |7|
ਔਰਨ ਸਾਥ ਕਰੈ ਤਬ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਾ ॥
aauaran saath karai tab preetaa |
ਨਿਸੁ ਦਿਨ ਕਰੈ ਕਾਮ ਕੀ ਰੀਤਾ ॥
nis din karai kaam kee reetaa |
ਪਤਿਹਿ ਤੋਰਿ ਖੋਜਾ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਾ ॥
patihi tor khojaa kar ddaaraa |
ਆਪੁ ਅਵਰ ਸੋ ਕੇਲ ਮਚਾਰਾ ॥੮॥
aap avar so kel machaaraa |8|
ਬਿਰਹ ਰਾਇ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਥੋ ਯਾਰਾ ॥
birah raae taa ko tho yaaraa |
ਜਾ ਸੋ ਬਧਿਯੋ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਕੇ ਪ︀ਯਾਰਾ ॥
jaa so badhiyo kuar ke payaaraa |
ਤਾ ਪਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੋਇ ਸੋ ਲਟਕਨ ॥
taa par rahee hoe so lattakan |
ਤਿਹ ਹਿਤ ਮਰਤ ਪ︀ਯਾਸ ਅਰੁ ਭੂਖਨ ॥੯॥
tih hit marat payaas ar bhookhan |9|
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਭਾਗ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਤਿਹ ਲਈ ॥
eik din bhaag mitr tih lee |
ਪੋਸਤ ਸਹਿਤ ਅਫੀਮ ਚੜਈ ॥
posat sahit afeem charree |
ਬਹੁ ਰਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਨ ਬੀਰਜ ਗਿਰਾਈ ॥
bahu rat karee na beeraj giraaee |
ਆਠ ਪਹਿਰ ਲਗਿ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਬਜਾਈ ॥੧੦॥
aatth pahir lag kuar bajaaee |10|
ਸਭ ਨਿਸਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਭੋਗ ਜਬ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
sabh nis naar bhog jab paayo |
ਬਹੁ ਆਸਨ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਖ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
bahu aasan kar harakh badtaayo |
ਤਾ ਪਰ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਚਿਤ ਤੇ ਅਟਕੀ ॥
taa par tarun chit te attakee |
ਭੂਲਿ ਗਈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸੁਧਿ ਘਟ ਕੀ ॥੧੧॥
bhool gee sabh hee sudh ghatt kee |11|
ਦ੍ਵੈ ਘਟਿਕਾ ਜੋ ਭੋਗ ਕਰਤ ਨਰ ॥
dvai ghattikaa jo bhog karat nar |
ਤਾ ਪਰ ਰੀਝਤ ਨਾਰਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਕਰਿ ॥
taa par reejhat naar bahut kar |
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਹਰ ਜੋ ਕੇਲ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
chaar pehar jo kel kamaavai |
ਸੋ ਕ︀ਯੋਨ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੌ ਚਿਤ ਚੁਰਾਵੈ ॥੧੨॥
so kayon na triy kau chit churaavai |12|
ਰੈਨਿ ਸਕਲ ਤਿਨ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਬਜਾਈ ॥
rain sakal tin tarun bajaaee |
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਹੰਢਾਈ ॥
bhaat bhaat ke saath handtaaee |
ਆਸਨ ਕਰੇ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਰਾ ॥
aasan kare tarun bahu baaraa |
ਚੁੰਬਨਾਦਿ ਨਖ ਘਾਤ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥੧੩॥
chunbanaad nakh ghaat apaaraa |13|
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਸਨ ਕਰਿ ॥
bhaat bhaat ke chaturaasan kar |
ਭਜ︀ਯੋ ਤਾਹਿ ਤਰ ਦਾਬਿ ਭੁਜਨ ਭਰਿ ॥
bhajayo taeh tar daab bhujan bhar |
ਚੁੰਬਨ ਆਸਨ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਚਛਨ ॥
chunban aasan karat bichachhan |
ਕੋਕ ਕਲਾ ਕੋਬਿਦ ਸਭ ਲਛਨ ॥੧੪॥
kok kalaa kobid sabh lachhan |14|
