Malaar, Fourth Mehl:
ਜਿਨੑ ਕੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਬਸਿਓ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਭਲੇ ਭਲ ਭਾਂਤਿ ॥
jina kai heearai basio meraa satigur te sant bhale bhal bhaant |
Those whose hearts are filled with my True Guru - those Saints are good and noble in every way.
ਤਿਨੑ ਦੇਖੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਂਤ ॥੧॥
tina dekhe meraa man bigasai hau tin kai sad bal jaant |1|
Seeing them, my mind blossoms forth in bliss; I am forever a sacrifice to them. ||1||
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
giaanee har bolahu din raat |
O spiritual teacher, chant the Name of the Lord, day and night.
ਤਿਨੑ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੂਖ ਸਭ ਉਤਰੀ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਂਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tina kee trisanaa bhookh sabh utaree jo guramat raam ras khaant |1| rahaau |
All hunger and thirst are satisfied, for those who partake of the sublime essence of the Lord, through the Guru's Teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਸਾਧ ਸਖਾ ਜਨ ਜਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਭਰਾਂਤਿ ॥
har ke daas saadh sakhaa jan jin miliaa leh jaae bharaant |
The slaves of the Lord are our Holy companions. Meeting with them, doubt is taken away.
ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਦੁਧ ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿੰਨ ਕਾਢੈ ਚੁਣਿ ਹੰਸੁਲਾ ਤਿਉ ਦੇਹੀ ਤੇ ਚੁਣਿ ਕਾਢੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਾਤਿ ॥੨॥
jiau jal dudh bhin bhin kaadtai chun hansulaa tiau dehee te chun kaadtai saadhoo haumai taat |2|
As the swan separates the milk from the water, the Holy Saint removes the fire of egotism from the body. ||2||
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਤੇ ਕਪਟੀ ਨਰ ਨਿਤ ਕਪਟੁ ਕਮਾਂਤਿ ॥
jin kai preet naahee har hiradai te kapattee nar nit kapatt kamaant |
Those who do not love the Lord in their hearts are deceitful; they continually practice deception.
ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਕਿਆ ਕੋਈ ਦੇਇ ਖਵਾਲੈ ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਬੀਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਂਤਿ ॥੩॥
tin kau kiaa koee dee khavaalai oe aap beej aape hee khaant |3|
What can anyone give them to eat? Whatever they themselves plant, they must eat. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਚਿਹਨੁ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਨ ਮਹਿ ਆਪੁ ਰਖਾਂਤਿ ॥
har kaa chihan soee har jan kaa har aape jan meh aap rakhaant |
This is the Quality of the Lord, and of the Lord's humble servants as well; the Lord places His Own Essence within them.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਤਰੀ ਤਰਾਂਤਿ ॥੪॥੫॥
dhan dhan guroo naanak samadarasee jin nindaa usatat taree taraant |4|5|
Blessed, blessed, is Guru Nanak, who looks impartially on all; He crosses over and transcends both slander and praise. ||4||5||

Malaar, Fourth Mehl:
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਊਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਜਪਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
agam agochar naam har aootam har kirapaa te jap leaa |
The Name of the Lord is inaccessible, unfathomable, exalted and sublime. It is chanted by the Lord's Grace.
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਪਾਈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੧॥
satasangat saadh paaee vaddabhaagee sang saadhoo paar peaa |1|
By great good fortune, I have found the True Congregation, and in the Company of the Holy, I am carried across. ||1||
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
merai man anadin anad bheaa |
My mind is in ecstasy, night and day.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parasaad naam har japiaa mere man kaa bhram bhau geaa |1| rahaau |
By Guru's Grace, I chant the Name of the Lord. Doubt and fear are gone from my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਇਆ ॥
jin har gaaeaa jin har japiaa tin sangat har melahu kar meaa |
Those who chant and meditate on the Lord - O Lord, in Your Mercy, please unite me with them.
ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਇਆ ॥੨॥
tin kaa daras dekh sukh paaeaa dukh haumai rog geaa |2|
Gazing upon them, I am at peace; the pain and disease of egotism are gone. ||2||
ਜੋ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਕਾ ਸਫਲੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
jo anadin hiradai naam dhiaaveh sabh janam tinaa kaa safal bheaa |
Those who meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord in their hearts - their lives become totally fruitful.
ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਤਰੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਤਾਰੀ ਸਭੁ ਕੁਲੁ ਭੀ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਇਆ ॥੩॥
oe aap tare srisatt sabh taaree sabh kul bhee paar peaa |3|
They themselves swim across, and carry the world across with them. Their ancestors and family cross over as well. ||3||
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
tudh aape aap upaaeaa sabh jag tudh aape vas kar leaa |
You Yourself created the whole world, and You Yourself keep it under Your control.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਡੁਬਦਾ ਕਾਢਿ ਲਇਆ ॥੪॥੬॥
jan naanak kau prabh kirapaa dhaaree bikh ddubadaa kaadt leaa |4|6|
God has showered His Mercy on servant Nanak; He has lifted him up, and rescued him from the ocean of poison. ||4||6||

ਬੰਗ ਦੇਇ ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਇਕ ਤਾ ਕੇ ॥
bang dee duhitaa ik taa ke |
ਔਰ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ਸਮ ਨਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੇ ॥
aauar sundaree sam neh jaa ke |
ਤਿਨ ਇਕ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਿਹਾਰੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥
tin ik purakh nihaaro jab hee |
ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਕੇ ਬਸਿ ਭੀ ਤਬ ਹੀ ॥੨॥

ਸੂਰ ਸੂਰ ਕਹਿ ਭੂ ਪਰ ਪਰੀ ॥
soor soor keh bhoo par paree |
ਜਨੁ ਗਜ ਬੇਲ ਬਾਵ ਕੀ ਹਰੀ ॥
jan gaj bel baav kee haree |
ਸੁ ਛਬਿ ਰਾਇ ਸੁਧਿ ਪਾਇ ਬੁਲਾਇਸਿ ॥
su chhab raae sudh paae bulaaeis |
ਕਾਮ ਭੋਗ ਰੁਚਿ ਮਾਨ ਮਚਾਇਸਿ ॥੩॥
kaam bhog ruch maan machaaeis |3|
ਬਧਿ ਗੀ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਸਜਨ ਕੇ ਨੇਹਾ ॥
badh gee kuar sajan ke nehaa |
ਜਿਮਿ ਲਾਗਤ ਸਾਵਨ ਕੋ ਮੇਹਾ ॥
jim laagat saavan ko mehaa |
ਸੂਰ ਸੂਰ ਕਹਿ ਗਿਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਥੀ ਪਰ ॥
soor soor keh giree prithee par |
ਤਾਤ ਮਾਤ ਆਈ ਸਖਿ ਸਭ ਘਰ ॥੪॥
taat maat aaee sakh sabh ghar |4|
ਮਾਤ ਪਰੀ ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਕਹ ਜਨਿਯਹੁ ॥
maat paree duhitaa keh janiyahu |
ਤਾ ਤਨ ਜੀਏ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਮਨਿਯਹੁ ॥
taa tan jee kuar pramaniyahu |
ਜੋ ਮੈ ਕਹਤ ਤੁਮੈ ਸੋ ਕਰਿਯਹੁ ॥
jo mai kehat tumai so kariyahu |
ਛੋਰਿ ਕਫਨ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਹਿਨ ਨਿਹਰਿਯਹੁ ॥੫॥
chhor kafan mukh nahin nihariyahu |5|
ਤੁਮ ਕੌ ਤਾਤ ਮਾਤ ਦੁਖ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥
tum kau taat maat dukh hvai hai |
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸੁਤਾ ਅਧੋਗਤ ਜੈ ਹੈ ॥
tumaree sutaa adhogat jai hai |
ਹਮਰੋ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸੋਕਹਿ ਧਰਿਯਹੁ ॥
hamaro kachhoo na sokeh dhariyahu |
ਛਮਾਪਰਾਧ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਕਰਿਯਹੁ ॥੬॥
chhamaaparaadh hamaaro kariyahu |6|
ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਕੌ ਮੈ ਮੁਖ ਨ ਦਿਖਾਰਾ ॥
rav sas kau mai mukh na dikhaaraa |
ਅਬ ਹੇਰੈ ਕਸ ਅੰਗਨ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
ab herai kas angan hamaaraa |
ਸਾਸ ਘੂਟਿ ਜਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਗਈ ॥
saas ghoott jan kar mar gee |
ਸਖਿਯਨ ਲਪਿਟਿ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਮਹਿ ਲਈ ॥੭॥
sakhiyan lapitt basatr meh lee |7|
ਬਕਰੀ ਬਾਧਿ ਸਿਰ੍ਰਹੀ ਮਧਿ ਦੀਨੀ ॥
bakaree baadh sirrahee madh deenee |
ਛੋਰ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਿਤੁ ਮਾਤ ਨ ਚੀਨੀ ॥
chhor basatr pit maat na cheenee |
ਦੁਹੂੰ ਸੁਤਾ ਕੋ ਬਚਨ ਸੰਭਾਰਾ ॥
duhoon sutaa ko bachan sanbhaaraa |
ਸਲ ਕੇ ਮਾਝ ਬਕਰਿਯਹਿ ਜਾਰਾ ॥੮॥
sal ke maajh bakariyeh jaaraa |8|
ਗਈ ਜਾਰ ਸੰਗ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ॥
gee jaar sang raaj kumaaree |
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਿਨੀ ਨ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥
bhed abhed kinee na bichaaree |
ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਮਰੀ ਜਾਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਦੀਨੀ ॥
duhitaa maree jaar jan deenee |
ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਨ ਚੀਨੀ ॥੯॥
