Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਬਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
jaa kai raam ko bal hoe |
One who has the Lord's Power on his side
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾਹੂ ਕੇ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagal manorath pooran taahoo ke dookh na biaapai koe |1| rahaau |
- all his desires are fulfilled, and no pain afflicts him. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਨਿਜੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
jo jan bhagat daas nij prabh kaa sun jeevaan tis soe |
That humble devotee is a slave of his God, who listens to Him, and so lives.
ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਨ ਕੌ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
audam krau darasan pekhan kau karam paraapat hoe |1|
I have made the effort to gaze upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan; it is obtained only by good karma. ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਉ ਦੂਸਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
gur parasaadee drisatt nihaarau doosar naahee koe |
It is only by Guru's Grace that I see His Vision with my eyes which none can equal.
ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਚਰਨ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਧੋਇ ॥੨॥੭੪॥੯੭॥
daan dehi naanak apane kau charan jeevaan sant dhoe |2|74|97|
Please bless Nanak with this Gift, that he may wash the Feet of the Saints, and so live. ||2||74||97||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਜੀਵਤੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
jeevat raam ke gun gaae |
I live by singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਕਰਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਬੀਠੁਲੇ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਨ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karahu kripaa gopaal beetthule bisar na kab hee jaae |1| rahaau |
Please be Merciful to me, O my Loving Lord of the Universe, that I may never forget You. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਨ ਨ ਦੂਜੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
man tan dhan sabh tumaraa suaamee aan na doojee jaae |
My mind, body, wealth and all are Yours, O my Lord and Master; there is nowhere else for me at all.
ਜਿਉ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਵ ਹੀ ਰਹਣਾ ਤੁਮੑਰਾ ਪੈਨੑੈ ਖਾਇ ॥੧॥
jiau too raakheh tiv hee rahanaa tumaraa painai khaae |1|
As You keep me, so do I survive; I eat and I wear whatever You give me. ||1||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਜਨਮਾ ਧਾਇ ॥
saadhasangat kai bal bal jaaee bahurr na janamaa dhaae |
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; I shall never again fall into reincarnation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਚਲਾਇ ॥੨॥੭੫॥੯੮॥
naanak daas teree saranaaee jiau bhaavai tivai chalaae |2|75|98|
Slave Nanak seeks Your Sancuary, Lord; as it pleases Your Will, so do You guide him. ||2||75||98||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੋ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰ ॥
man re naam ko sukh saar |
O my mind, the Naam is the most sublime peace.
ਆਨ ਕਾਮ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਗਲ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਛਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aan kaam bikaar maaeaa sagal deeseh chhaar |1| rahaau |
Other affairs of Maya are corrupt. They are nothing more than dust. ||1||Pause||
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਪਤਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨਰਕ ਘੋਰ ਗੁਬਾਰ ॥
grihi andh koop patit praanee narak ghor gubaar |
The mortal has fallen into the deep dark pit of household attachment; it is a horrible, dark hell.
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨੀ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਹਾਰਿਓ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ॥੧॥
anik jonee bhramat haario bhramat baaran baar |1|
He wanders in various incarnations, growing weary; he wanders through them again and again. ||1||
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਛਲ ਦੀਨ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰ ॥
patit paavan bhagat bachhal deen kirapaa dhaar |
O Purifier of sinners, O Lover of Your devotees, please shower Your Mercy on Your meek servant.
ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰ ॥੨॥੭੬॥੯੯॥
kar jorr naanak daan maangai saadhasang udhaar |2|76|99|
With palms pressed together, Nanak begs for this blessing: O Lord, please save me in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||76||99||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਬਿਰਾਜਿਤ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥
biraajit raam ko parataap |
The Glorious Radiance of the Lord has spread out everywhere.
ਆਧਿ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਉਪਾਧਿ ਸਭ ਨਾਸੀ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਤੀਨੈ ਤਾਪ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aadh biaadh upaadh sabh naasee binase teenai taap |1| rahaau |
The doubts of my mind and body are all erased, and I am rid of the three diseases. ||1||Pause||
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭ ਆਸਾ ਚੂਕੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
trisanaa bujhee pooran sabh aasaa chooke sog santaap |
My thirst is quenched, and my hopes have all been fulfilled; my sorrows and sufferings are over.
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਅਚੁਤ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਆਤਮ ਧ੍ਰਾਪ ॥੧॥
gun gaavat achut abinaasee man tan aatam dhraap |1|
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Unmoving, Eternal, Unchanging Lord God, my mind, body and soul are comforted and encouraged. ||1||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮਦ ਮਤਸਰ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਖਾਪ ॥
kaam krodh lobh mad matasar saadhoo kai sang khaap |
Sexual desire, anger, greed, pride and envy are destroyed in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਭੈ ਕਾਟਨਹਾਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ॥੨॥੭੭॥੧੦੦॥
bhagat vachhal bhai kaattanahaare naanak ke maaee baap |2|77|100|
He is the Lover of His devotees, the Destroyer of fear; O Nanak, He is our Mother and Father. ||2||77||100||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਆਤੁਰੁ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
aatur naam bin sansaar |
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the world is miserable.
ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਤ ਕੂਕਰੀ ਆਸਾ ਇਤੁ ਲਾਗੋ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਛਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tripat na hovat kookaree aasaa it laago bikhiaa chhaar |1| rahaau |
Like a dog, its desires are never satisfied; it clings to the ashes of corruption. ||1||Pause||
ਪਾਇ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਓ ਜਨਮਤ ਬਾਰੋ ਬਾਰ ॥
paae tthgauree aap bhulaaeo janamat baaro baar |
Administering the intoxicating drug, God Himself leads the mortals astray; they are reincarnated again and again.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਸਿਮਰਿਓ ਜਮਕੰਕਰ ਕਰਤ ਖੁਆਰ ॥੧॥
har kaa simaran nimakh na simario jamakankar karat khuaar |1|
He does not meditate in remembrance on the Lord, even for an instant, and so the Messenger of Death makes him suffer. ||1||
ਹੋਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਤੇਰਿਆ ਸੰਤਹ ਕੀ ਰਾਵਾਰ ॥
hohu kripaal deen dukh bhanjan teriaa santah kee raavaar |
Please be merciful to me, O Destroyer of the pains of the meek and the poor; let me be the dust of the feet of the Saints.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਾਚੈ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਕੋ ਆਧਾਰ ॥੨॥੭੮॥੧੦੧॥
naanak daas daras prabh jaachai man tan ko aadhaar |2|78|101|
Slave Nanak asks for the Blessed Vision of God. It is the Support of his mind and body. ||2||78||101||
