Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
anadin raam ke gun kaheeai |
Night and day, utter the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਸਗਲ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਸਿਧਿ ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sagal padaarath sarab sookh sidh man baanchhat fal laheeai |1| rahaau |
You shall obtain all wealth, all pleasures and successes, and the fruits of your mind's desires. ||1||Pause||
ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਸਿਮਰਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
aavahu sant praan sukhadaate simarah prabh abinaasee |
Come, O Saints, let us meditate in remembrance on God; He is the Eternal, Imperishable Giver of Peace and Praanaa, the Breath of Life.
ਅਨਾਥਹ ਨਾਥੁ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਘਟ ਵਾਸੀ ॥੧॥
anaathah naath deen dukh bhanjan poor rahio ghatt vaasee |1|
Master of the masterless, Destroyer of the pains of the meek and the poor; He is All-pervading and permeating, abiding in all hearts. ||1||
ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਸੁਨਾਵਤ ਸਰਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ॥
gaavat sunat sunaavat saradhaa har ras pee vaddabhaage |
The very fortunate ones drink in the Sublime Essence of the Lord, singing, reciting and listening to the Lord's Praises.
ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਜਾਗੇ ॥੨॥
kal kales mitte sabh tan te raam naam liv jaage |2|
All their sufferings and struggles are wiped away from their bodies; they remain lovingly awake and aware in the Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਤਜਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੂਟੇ ॥
kaam krodh jhootth taj nindaa har simaran bandhan tootte |
So abandon your sexual desire, greed, falsehood and slander; meditating in remembrance on the Lord, you shall be released from bondage.
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਅਹੰ ਅੰਧ ਮਮਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੇ ॥੩॥
moh magan ahan andh mamataa gur kirapaa te chhootte |3|
The intoxication of loving attachments, egotism and blind possessiveness are eradicated by Guru's Grace. ||3||
ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
too samarath paarabraham suaamee kar kirapaa jan teraa |
You are All-Powerful, O Supreme Lord God and Master; please be Merciful to Your humble servant.
ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਮਹਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੧੨॥
poor rahio sarab meh tthaakur naanak so prabh neraa |4|12|
My Lord and Master is All-pervading and prevailing everywhere; O Nanak, God is Near. ||4||12||

ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਚਰਨ ॥
balihaaree guradev charan |
I am a sacrifice to the Feet of the Divine Guru.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਕਰਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaa kai sang paarabraham dhiaaeeai upades hamaaree gat karan |1| rahaau |
I meditate with Him on the Supreme Lord God; His Teachings have emancipated me. ||1||Pause||
ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਭੈ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਜੋ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਨ ॥
dookh rog bhai sagal binaase jo aavai har sant saran |
All pains, diseases and fears are erased, for one who comes to the Sanctuary of the Lord's Saints.
ਆਪਿ ਜਪੈ ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ ਵਡ ਸਮਰਥ ਤਾਰਨ ਤਰਨ ॥੧॥
aap japai avarah naam japaavai vadd samarath taaran taran |1|
He Himself chants, and inspires others to chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord. He is Utterly All-Powerful; He carries us across to the other side. ||1||
ਜਾ ਕੋ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਉਤਾਰੈ ਸਹਸਾ ਊਣੇ ਕਉ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਨ ॥
jaa ko mantru utaarai sahasaa aoone kau subhar bharan |
His Mantra drives out cynicism, and totally fills the empty one.
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਾਨਤ ਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਫੁਨਿ ਗਰਭ ਪਰਨ ॥੨॥
har daasan kee aagiaa maanat te naahee fun garabh paran |2|
Those who obey the Order of the Lord's slaves, do not enter into the womb of reincarnation ever again. ||2||
ਭਗਤਨ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਕਮਾਵਤ ਗਾਵਤ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਟੇ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ॥
bhagatan kee ttehal kamaavat gaavat dukh kaatte taa ke janam maran |
Whoever works for the Lord's devotees and sings His Praises - his pains of birth and death are taken away.
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਬੀਠੁਲਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਜਰ ਜਰਨ ॥੩॥
jaa kau bheo kripaal beetthulaa tin har har ajar jaran |3|
Those unto whom my Beloved becomes Merciful, endure the Unendurable Ecstasy of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਰਸਹਿ ਅਘਾਨੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਨੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਬਰਨ ॥
har raseh aghaane sehaj samaane mukh te naahee jaat baran |
Those who are satisfied by the Sublime Essence of the Lord, merge intuitively into the Lord; no mouth can describe their state.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤੋਖੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਉਧਰਨ ॥੪॥੧੩॥
gur prasaad naanak santokhe naam prabhoo jap jap udharan |4|13|
By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, they are content; chanting and meditating on God's Name, they are saved. ||4||13||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਗਾਇਓ ਰੀ ਮੈ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਇਓ ॥
gaaeo ree mai gun nidh mangal gaaeo |
I sing, O I sing the Songs of Joy of my Lord, the Treasure of Virtue.
ਭਲੇ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਭਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਅਉਸਰ ਜਉ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ਰੀਝਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhale sanjog bhale din aausar jau gopaal reejhaaeo |1| rahaau |
Fortunate is the time, fortunate is the day and the moment, when I become pleasing to the Lord of the World. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤਹ ਚਰਨ ਮੋਰਲੋ ਮਾਥਾ ॥
santah charan moralo maathaa |
I touch my forehead to the Feet of the Saints.
ਹਮਰੇ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਸੰਤ ਧਰੇ ਹਾਥਾ ॥੧॥
hamare masatak sant dhare haathaa |1|
The Saints have placed their hands on my forehead. ||1||
ਸਾਧਹ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਮੋਰਲੋ ਮਨੂਆ ॥
saadhah mantru moralo manooaa |
My mind is filled with the Mantra of the Holy Saints,
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਗਤੁ ਹੋਏ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਨੀਆ ॥੨॥
taa te gat hoe trai guneea |2|
and I have risen above the three qualities||2||
ਭਗਤਹ ਦਰਸੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨੈਨ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
bhagatah daras dekh nain rangaa |
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision, the Darshan of God's devotees, my eyes are filled with love.
ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਤੂਟੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਸੰਗਾ ॥੩॥
lobh moh tootte bhram sangaa |3|
Greed and attachment are gone, along with doubt. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥
kahu naanak sukh sehaj anandaa |
Says Nanak, I have found intuitive peace, poise and bliss.
ਖੋਲੑਿ ਭੀਤਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੪॥੧੪॥
khola bheet mile paramaanandaa |4|14|
Tearing down the wall, I have met the Lord, the Embodiment of Supreme Bliss. ||4||14||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਕੈਸੇ ਕਹਉ ਮੋਹਿ ਜੀਅ ਬੇਦਨਾਈ ॥
kaise khau mohi jeea bedanaaee |
How can I express the pain of my soul?
ਦਰਸਨ ਪਿਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਰਹੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਉਮਕਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
darasan piaas pria preet manohar man na rahai bahu bidh umakaaee |1| rahaau |
I am so thirsty for the Blessed Vision, the Darshan of my Enticing and Lovely Beloved. My mind cannot survive - it yearns for Him in so many ways. ||1||Pause||
ਚਿਤਵਨਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਕਦਿ ਪਾਵਉ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਾਈ ॥
chitavan chitvau pria preet bairaagee kad paavau har darasaaee |
I think thoughts of Him; I miss the Love of my Beloved. When will I obtain the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan?
ਜਤਨ ਕਰਉ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਧੀਰੈ ਕੋਊ ਹੈ ਰੇ ਸੰਤੁ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੧॥
jatan krau ihu man nahee dheerai koaoo hai re sant milaaee |1|
I try, but this mind is not encouraged. Is there any Saint who can lead me to God? ||1||
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਪੁੰਨ ਸਭਿ ਹੋਮਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਅਰਪਉ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਜਾਂਈ ॥
jap tap sanjam pun sabh homau tis arpau sabh sukh jaanee |
Chanting, penance, self-control, good deeds and charity - I sacrifice all these in fire; I dedicate all peace and places to Him.
ਏਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਦਰਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਂਈ ॥੨॥
ek nimakh pria daras dikhaavai tis santan kai bal jaanee |2|
One who helps me to behold the Blessed Vision of my Beloved, for even an instant - I am a sacrifice to that Saint. ||2||
ਕਰਉ ਨਿਹੋਰਾ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੇਵਉ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਾਈ ॥
krau nihoraa bahut benatee sevau din rainaaee |
I offer all my prayers and entreaties to him; I serve him, day and night.
ਮਾਨੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਹਉ ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਉ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥੩॥
maan abhimaan hau sagal tiaagau jo pria baat sunaaee |3|
I have renounced all pride and egotism; he tells me the stories of my Beloved. ||3||
ਦੇਖਿ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਭਈ ਹਉ ਬਿਸਮਨਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪੁਰਖਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥
dekh charitr bhee hau bisaman gur satigur purakh milaaee |
I am wonder-struck, gazing upon the wondrous play of God. The Guru, the True Guru, has led me to meet the Primal Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰੰਗ ਦਇਆਲ ਮੋਹਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੫॥
prabh rang deaal mohi grih meh paaeaa jan naanak tapat bujhaaee |4|1|15|
I have found God, my Merciful Loving Lord, within the home of my own heart. O Nanak, the fire within me has been quenched. ||4||1||15||

ਪਿਤੁ ਜਾਨ︀ਯੋ ਸੁਤ ਮੇਰੋ ਦੇਸ ਅਪਨੇ ਗਯੋ ॥
pit jaanayo sut mero des apane gayo |
ਹੌ ਅਰਧ ਰਾਤ੍ਰਿ ਗੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਰਾਨੀ ਆਵਤ ਭਯੋ ॥੭॥
hau aradh raatr ge grih raanee aavat bhayo |7|

ਤਾਹਿ ਨਿਪੁੰਸਕ ਕਰਿ ਠਹਰਾਯੋ ॥
taeh nipunsak kar tthaharaayo |
ਰਾਜਾ ਸੌ ਇਸ ਭਾਤਿ ਜਤਾਯੋ ॥੮॥
raajaa sau is bhaat jataayo |8|
ਮੈ ਇਕ ਮੋਲ ਨਿਪੁੰਸਕ ਆਨਾ ॥
mai ik mol nipunsak aanaa |
ਜਾ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਨ ਜਾਤ ਬਖਾਨਾ ॥
jaa ko roop na jaat bakhaanaa |
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਾਜ ਕਰੈ ਹੌ ॥
taa te apane kaaj karai hau |
ਮਨ ਭਾਵਤ ਕੇ ਭੋਗ ਕਮੈ ਹੌ ॥੯॥
man bhaavat ke bhog kamai hau |9|

ਭਲੀ ਭਲੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਕਹੀ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਸਕਾ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
bhalee bhalee raajaa kahee bhed na sakaa bichaar |
ਪੁਰਖ ਨਿਪੁੰਸਕ ਭਾਖਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਰਾਖਾ ਧਾਮ ਸੁਧਾਰਿ ॥੧੦॥
purakh nipunsak bhaakh triy raakhaa dhaam sudhaar |10|
ਰਮ︀ਯੋ ਕਰਤ ਰਾਨੀ ਭਏ ਤਵਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਨਿ ॥
ramayo karat raanee bhe tavan purakh din rain |
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨਿਪੁੰਸਕ ਤਿਹ ਲਖੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਭਾਖੈ ਬੈਨ ॥੧੧॥
nripat nipunsak tih lakhai kachhoo na bhaakhai bain |11|
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਖ︀ਯਾਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਬਾਦੇ ਦੋਇ ਸੌ ਸਤਰ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੨੭੦॥੫੨੫੪॥ਅਫਜੂੰ॥

ਤਿਹ ਪੁਰ ਮਦ੍ਰ ਦੇਸ ਕੌ ਬਾਸੀ ॥
tih pur madr des kau baasee |
ਰਾਨੀ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਲਗਨਿ ਤਿਹ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
raanee nirakh lagan tih laagee |
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਨੀਂਦ ਭੂਖ ਸਭ ਭਾਗੀ ॥੨॥
jaa te neend bhookh sabh bhaagee |2|
ਰਾਨੀ ਕੀ ਤਾਹੂ ਸੌ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
raanee kee taahoo sau laagee |
ਛੂਟੈ ਕਹਾ ਅਨੋਖੀ ਜਾਗੀ ॥
chhoottai kahaa anokhee jaagee |
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਤਿਹ ਸੌ ਭੋਗ ਕਮਾਯੋ ॥
eik din tih sau bhog kamaayo |
ਭੋਗ ਕਿਯਾ ਤਿਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਭਾਯੋ ॥੩॥
bhog kiyaa tim drirr triy bhaayo |3|
ਬਹੁ ਦਿਨ ਭੋਗ ਤਵਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਯਾ ॥
bahu din bhog tavan sang kiyaa |
ਐਸੁਪਦੇਸ ਤਵਨ ਕਹ ਦਿਯਾ ॥
aisupades tavan keh diyaa |
ਜੌ ਮੈ ਕਹੌ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੋ ਕੀਜਹੁ ॥
jau mai kahau mitr so keejahu |
ਮੇਰੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਮਾਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਜਹੁ ॥੪॥
mero kahiyo maan kar leejahu |4|
ਕਹੂੰ ਜੁ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਲਖਿ ਪੈਯੌ ॥
kahoon ju mritak pariyo lakh paiyau |
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਾਟਿ ਲਿੰਗ ਲੈ ਐਯੌ ॥
taa ko kaatt ling lai aiyau |
ਤਾਹਿ ਕੁਪੀਨ ਬਿਖੈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਰਖਿਯਹੁ ॥
taeh kupeen bikhai drirr rakhiyahu |
ਭੇਦ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਨਰਹਿ ਨ ਭਖਿਯਹੁ ॥੫॥
bhed doosare nareh na bhakhiyahu |5|
