Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਾਈ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਾਧਾ ॥
maaee sat sat sat har sat sat sat saadhaa |
O mother, True, True True is the Lord, and True, True, True is His Holy Saint.
ਬਚਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੋ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਹਿਓ ਮੈ ਛੀਕਿ ਗਾਂਠਰੀ ਬਾਧਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bachan guroo jo poorai kahio mai chheek gaanttharee baadhaa |1| rahaau |
The Word which the Perfect Guru has spoken, I have tied to my robe. ||1||Pause||
ਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਨਖਿਅਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਵਿ ਸਸੀਅਰ ਬੇਨਾਧਾ ॥
nis baasur nakhiatr binaasee rav saseear benaadhaa |
Night and day, and the stars in the sky shall vanish. The sun and the moon shall vanish.
ਗਿਰਿ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਜਲ ਪਵਨ ਜਾਇਗੋ ਇਕਿ ਸਾਧ ਬਚਨ ਅਟਲਾਧਾ ॥੧॥
gir basudhaa jal pavan jaaeigo ik saadh bachan attalaadhaa |1|
The mountains, the earth, the water and the air shall pass away. Only the Word of the Holy Saint shall endure. ||1||
ਅੰਡ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਜੇਰ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਉਤਭੁਜ ਸੇਤ ਬਿਨਾਧਾ ॥
andd binaasee jer binaasee utabhuj set binaadhaa |
Those born of eggs shall pass away, and those born of the womb shall pass away. Those born of the earth and sweat shall pass away as well.
ਚਾਰਿ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਖਟਹਿ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਇਕਿ ਸਾਧ ਬਚਨ ਨਿਹਚਲਾਧਾ ॥੨॥
chaar binaasee khatteh binaasee ik saadh bachan nihachalaadhaa |2|
The four Vedas shall pass away, and the six Shaastras shall pass away. Only the Word of the Holy Saint is eternal. ||2||
ਰਾਜ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਤਾਮ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਸਾਤਕੁ ਭੀ ਬੇਨਾਧਾ ॥
raaj binaasee taam binaasee saatak bhee benaadhaa |
Raajas, the quality of energetic activity shall pass away. Taamas, the quality of lethargic darkness shall pass away. Saatvas, the quality of peaceful light shall pass away as well.
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਮਾਨ ਹੈ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਇਕਿ ਸਾਧ ਬਚਨ ਆਗਾਧਾ ॥੩॥
drisattimaan hai sagal binaasee ik saadh bachan aagaadhaa |3|
All that is seen shall pass away. Only the Word of the Holy Saint is beyond destruction. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪੇ ਸਭੁ ਆਪਨ ਖੇਲੁ ਦਿਖਾਧਾ ॥
aape aap aap hee aape sabh aapan khel dikhaadhaa |
He Himself is Himself by Himself. All that is seen is His play.
ਪਾਇਓ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਕਹੀ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਲਾਧਾ ॥੪॥੬॥
paaeo na jaaee kahee bhaant re prabh naanak gur mil laadhaa |4|6|
He cannot be found by any means. O Nanak, meeting with the Guru, God is found. ||4||6||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਾਸਿਬੋ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
merai man baasibo gur gobind |
The Guru, the Lord of the Universe, dwells within my mind.
ਜਹਾਂ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਭਇਓ ਹੈ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤਹਾਂ ਨਗਰ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jahaan simaran bheo hai tthaakur tahaan nagar sukh aanand |1| rahaau |
Wherever my Lord and Master is remembered in meditation - that village is filled with peace and bliss. ||1||Pause||
ਜਹਾਂ ਬੀਸਰੈ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਤਹਾਂ ਦੂਖ ਸਭ ਆਪਦ ॥
jahaan beesarai tthaakur piaaro tahaan dookh sabh aapad |
Wherever my Beloved Lord and Master is forgotten - all misery and misfortune is there.
ਜਹ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਰੂਪ ਤਹਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਸੰਪਦ ॥੧॥
jeh gun gaae aanand mangal roop tahaan sadaa sukh sanpad |1|
Where the Praises of my Lord, the Embodiment of Bliss and Joy are sung - eternal peace and wealth are there. ||1||
ਜਹਾ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਨ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਤਹ ਮਹਾ ਭਇਆਨ ਉਦਿਆਨਦ ॥
jahaa sravan har kathaa na suneeai teh mahaa bheaan udiaanad |
Wherever they do not listen to the Stories of the Lord with their ears - the utterly desolate wilderness is there.
ਜਹਾਂ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਸੁ ਤਹ ਸਘਨ ਬਾਸ ਫਲਾਂਨਦ ॥੨॥
jahaan keeratan saadhasangat ras teh saghan baas falaanad |2|
Where the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises are sung with love in the Saadh Sangat - there is fragrance and fruit and joy in abundance. ||2||
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੋਟਿ ਬਰਖ ਜੀਵੈ ਸਗਲੀ ਅਉਧ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾਨਦ ॥
bin simaran kott barakh jeevai sagalee aaudh brithaanad |
Without meditative remembrance on the Lord, one may live for millions of years, but his life would be totally useless.
ਏਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਜਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਤਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜੀਵਾਨਦ ॥੩॥
ek nimakh gobind bhajan kar tau sadaa sadaa jeevaanad |3|
But if he vibrates and meditates on the Lord of the Universe, for even a moment, then he shall live forever and ever. ||3||
ਸਰਨਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਵਉ ਦੀਜੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਿਰਪਾਨਦ ॥
saran saran saran prabh paavau deejai saadhasangat kirapaanad |
O God, I seek Your Sanctuary, Your Sanctuary, Your Sanctuary; please mercifully bless me with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਹੈ ਸਰਬ ਮੈ ਸਗਲ ਗੁਣਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਂਨਦ ॥੪॥੭॥
naanak poor rahio hai sarab mai sagal gunaa bidh jaanad |4|7|
O Nanak, the Lord is All-pervading everywhere, amongst all. He knows the qualities and the condition of all. ||4||7||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਭਰੋਸਉ ਪਾਏ ॥
ab mohi raam bharosau paae |
Now, I have obtained the Support of the Lord.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਕਰੁਣਾਨਿਧਿ ਤੇ ਤੇ ਭਵਹਿ ਤਰਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo jo saran pario karunaanidh te te bhaveh taraae |1| rahaau |
Those who seek the Sanctuary of the Ocean of Mercy are carried across the world-ocean. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਖਿ ਸੋਇਓ ਅਰੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਓ ਸਹਸਾ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
sukh soeo ar sehaj samaaeo sahasaa gureh gavaae |
They sleep in peace, and intuitively merge into the Lord. The Guru takes away their cynicism and doubt.
ਜੋ ਚਾਹਤ ਸੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਓ ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
jo chaahat soee har keeo man baanchhat fal paae |1|
Whatever they wish for, the Lord does; they obtain the fruits of their minds' desires. ||1||
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਉ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਲਾਵਉ ਸ੍ਰਵਨੀ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥
hiradai jpau netr dhiaan laavau sravanee kathaa sunaae |
In my heart, I meditate on Him; with my eyes, I focus my meditation on Him. With my ears, I listen to His Sermon.
ਚਰਣੀ ਚਲਉ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੈ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੨॥
charanee chlau maarag tthaakur kai rasanaa har gun gaae |2|
With my feet, I walk on my Lord and Mater's Path. With my tongue, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
ਦੇਖਿਓ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਰਬ ਮੰਗਲ ਰੂਪ ਉਲਟੀ ਸੰਤ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
dekhio drisatt sarab mangal roop ulattee sant karaae |
With my eyes, I see the Lord, the Embodiment of Absolute Bliss; the Saint has turned away from the world.
ਪਾਇਓ ਲਾਲੁ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਜਾਏ ॥੩॥
paaeo laal amol naam har chhodd na katahoo jaae |3|
I have found the Priceless Name of the Beloved Lord; it never leaves me or goes anywhere else. ||3||
ਕਵਨ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਉਨ ਬਡਾਈ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਨ ਕਹਉ ਰੀਝਾਏ ॥
kavan upamaa kaun baddaaee kiaa gun khau reejhaae |
What praise, what glory and what virtues should I utter, in order to please the Lord?
ਹੋਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਸਾਏ ॥੪॥੮॥
hot kripaal deen deaa prabh jan naanak daas dasaae |4|8|
That humble being, unto whom the Merciful Lord is kind - O servant Nanak, he is the slave of God's slaves. ||4||8||

ਅਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਮੈ ਧਨ ॥
apramaan taa ke ghar mai dhan |
ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਸੂਰ ਕੈ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਦੁਤਿਯ ਜਨੁ ॥੧॥
chandr soor kai indr dutiy jan |1|
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਮਤੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਅਰਧੰਗਾ ॥
mitr matee taa kee aradhangaa |
ਪੁੰਨ੍ਰਯਮਾਨ ਦੂਸਰ ਜਨੁ ਗੰਗਾ ॥
punrayamaan doosar jan gangaa |
ਮੀਨ ਕੇਤੁ ਰਾਜਾ ਤਹ ਰਾਜੈ ॥
meen ket raajaa teh raajai |
ਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਮੀਨ ਧੁਜ ਲਾਜੈ ॥੨॥
jaa ko nirakh meen dhuj laajai |2|

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਝਖਕੇਤੁ ਮਤੀ ਦੁਹਿਤਾ ਤਿਹ ਜਾਨਿਯੈ ॥
sree jhakhaket matee duhitaa tih jaaniyai |
ਅਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ਅਬਲਾ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨਿਯੈ ॥
apramaan abalaa kee prabhaa pramaaniyai |
ਜਾ ਸਮ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਕਹੂੰ ਨ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਨਿਯਤ ॥
jaa sam sundar kahoon na jag meh jaaniyat |
ਹੋ ਰੂਪਮਾਨ ਉਹਿ ਕੀ ਸੀ ਵਹੀ ਬਖਾਨਿਯਤ ॥੩॥
ho roopamaan uhi kee see vahee bakhaaniyat |3|

teh ik putr saahu ko aayo |
ਜਿਹ ਸਮ ਦਿਤਿ ਆਦਿਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਯੋ ॥੪॥
jih sam dit aadit na jaayo |4|
