ਗੁਰ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਏ ਭਉ ਗਏ ॥
gur suprasan hoe bhau ge |
When the Guru was totally pleased, my fear was taken away.
ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਲਏ ॥
naam niranjan man meh le |
I enshrine the Name of the Immaculate Lord within my mind.
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
deen deaal sadaa kirapaal |
He is Merciful to the meek, forever Compassionate.
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥੧॥
binas ge sagale janjaal |1|
All my entanglements are finished. ||1||
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਨੇ ॥
sookh sehaj aanand ghane |
I have found peace, poise, and myriads of pleasures.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟੇ ਭੈ ਭਰਮਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਭਨੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saadhasang mitte bhai bharamaa amrit har har rasan bhane |1| rahaau |
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, fear and doubt are dispelled. My tongue chants the Ambrosial Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||Pause||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਹੇਤੁ ॥
charan kamal siau laago het |
I have fallen in love with the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਮਹਾ ਪਰੇਤੁ ॥
khin meh binasio mahaa paret |
In an instant, the terrible demons are destroyed.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
aatth pehar har har jap jaap |
Twenty-four hours a day, I meditate and chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਿ ॥੨॥

The Guru is Himself the Savior Lord, the Lord of the Universe. ||2||
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੈ ॥
apane sevak kau sadaa pratipaarai |
He Himself cherishes His servant forever.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਸ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
bhagat janaa ke saas nihaarai |
He watches over every breath of His humble devotee.
ਮਾਨਸ ਕੀ ਕਹੁ ਕੇਤਕ ਬਾਤ ॥
maanas kee kahu ketak baat |
Tell me, what is the nature of human beings?
ਜਮ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਥ ॥੩॥
jam te raakhai de kar haath |3|
The Lord extends His Hand, and saves them from the Messenger of Death. ||3||
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
niramal sobhaa niramal reet |
Immaculate is the Glory, and Immaculate is the way of life,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਆਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
paarabraham aaeaa man cheet |
of those who remember the Supreme Lord God in their minds.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
kar kirapaa gur deeno daan |
The Guru, in His Mercy, has granted this Gift.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੩੩॥੪੬॥

Nanak has obtained the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||33||46||

ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
karan kaaran samarath gur meraa |
My Guru is the All-powerful Lord, the Creator, the Cause of causes.
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
jeea praan sukhadaataa neraa |
He is the Soul, the Breath of Life, the Giver of Peace, always near.
ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਾਇ ॥
bhai bhanjan abinaasee raae |
He is the Destroyer of fear, the Eternal, Unchanging, Sovereign Lord King.
ਦਰਸਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਐ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
darasan dekhiai sabh dukh jaae |1|
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, all fear is dispelled. ||1||
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
jat kat pekhau teree saranaa |
Wherever I look, is the Protection of Your Sanctuary.
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bal bal jaaee satigur charanaa |1| rahaau |
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Feet of the True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
pooran kaam mile guradev |
My tasks are perfectly accomplished, meeting the Divine Guru.
ਸਭਿ ਫਲਦਾਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੇਵ ॥
sabh faladaataa niramal sev |
He is the Giver of all rewards. Serving Him, I am immaculate.
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ॥
kar geh leene apune daas |
He reaches out with His Hand to His slaves.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਦੀਓ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥੨॥
raam naam rid deeo nivaas |2|
The Name of the Lord abides in their hearts. ||2||
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
sadaa anand naahee kichh sog |
They are forever in bliss, and do not suffer at all.
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਨਹ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
dookh darad neh biaapai rog |
No pain, sorrow or disease afflicts them.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ॥
sabh kichh teraa too karanaihaar |
Everything is Yours, O Creator Lord.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੩॥

The Guru is the Supreme Lord God, the Inaccessible and Infinite. ||3||
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
niramal sobhaa acharaj baanee |
His Glorious Grandeur is immaculate, and the Bani of His Word is wonderful!
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
paarabraham pooran man bhaanee |
The Perfect Supreme Lord God is pleasing to my mind.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥
jal thal maheeal raviaa soe |
He is permeating the waters, the lands and the skies.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੩੪॥੪੭॥
naanak sabh kichh prabh te hoe |4|34|47|
O Nanak, everything comes from God. ||4||34||47||

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਰਣੇ ॥
man tan raataa raam rang charane |
My mind and body are imbued with the Love of the Lord's Feet.
ਸਰਬ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਣੇ ॥
sarab manorath pooran karane |
All the desires of my mind have been perfectly fulfilled.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗਾਵਤ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
aatth pehar gaavat bhagavant |
Twenty-four hours a day, I sing of the Lord God.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਪੂਰਾ ਮੰਤੁ ॥੧॥
satigur deeno pooraa mant |1|
The True Guru has imparted this perfect wisdom. ||1||
ਸੋ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
so vaddabhaagee jis naam piaar |
Very fortunate are those who love the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tis kai sang tarai sansaar |1| rahaau |
Associating with them, we cross over the world-ocean. ||1||Pause||
ਸੋਈ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਿ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਏਕ ॥
soee giaanee ji simarai ek |
They are spiritual teachers, who meditate in remembrance on the One Lord.
ਸੋ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਬੇਕ ॥
so dhanavantaa jis budh bibek |
Wealthy are those who have a discriminating intellect.
ਸੋ ਕੁਲਵੰਤਾ ਜਿ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
so kulavantaa ji simarai suaamee |
Noble are those who remember their Lord and Master in meditation.
ਸੋ ਪਤਿਵੰਤਾ ਜਿ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
so pativantaa ji aap pachhaanee |2|
Honorable are those who understand their own selves. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
gur parasaad param pad paaeaa |
By Guru's Grace, I have obtained the supreme status.
ਗੁਣ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
gun goupaal din rain dhiaaeaa |
Day and night I meditate on the Glories of God.
ਤੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥
tootte bandhan pooran aasaa |
My bonds are broken, and my hopes are fulfilled.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
har ke charan rid maeh nivaasaa |3|
The Feet of the Lord now abide in my heart. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਮਾ ॥
kahu naanak jaa ke pooran karamaa |
Says Nanak, one whose karma is perfect
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਆਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾ ॥
so jan aaeaa prabh kee saranaa |
that humble being enters the Sanctuary of God.
ਆਪਿ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਨ ਸਭਿ ਕੀਨੇ ॥
aap pavit paavan sabh keene |
He himself is pure, and he sanctifies all.
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਚੀਨੑੇ ॥੪॥੩੫॥੪੮॥
raam rasaaein rasanaa cheenae |4|35|48|
His tongue chants the Name of the Lord, the Source of Nectar. ||4||35||48||

ਨਗਰਨਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਗਰਨ ਕਹ ਮੋਹੈ ॥੬॥

ਤਿਨ ਵਹੁ ਕੁਅਰ ਦ੍ਰਿਗਨ ਲਹਿ ਪਾਵਾ ॥
tin vahu kuar drigan leh paavaa |
ਛੋਰਿ ਲਾਜ ਕਹੁ ਨੇਹੁ ਲਗਾਵਾ ॥
chhor laaj kahu nehu lagaavaa |
ਮਨ ਮੈ ਅਧਿਕ ਮਤ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਝੂਲੀ ॥
man mai adhik mat hvai jhoolee |
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਸੁਧਿ ਭੂਲੀ ॥੭॥
maat pitaa kee sabh sudh bhoolee |7|
ਜਵਨ ਮਾਰਗ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਸੁਤ ਚਲਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
javan maarag nrip sut chal aavai |
ਤਹੀ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਸਖਿਯਨ ਜੁਤ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
tahee kuar sakhiyan jut gaavai |
ਚਾਰੁ ਚਾਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
chaar chaar kar nain nihaarai |
ਨੈਨ ਸੈਨ ਦੈ ਹਸੈ ਹਕਾਰੈ ॥੮॥

ਕਟੁ ਕਟੁ ਬਾਤ ਬਦਨ ਤੇ ਭਾਖੀ ॥੧੦॥
katt katt baat badan te bhaakhee |10|
ਰਾਖਹਿ ਹਟਕਿ ਜਾਨਿ ਨਹਿ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
raakheh hattak jaan neh dehee |
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੌ ਰਛ ਕਰੇਹੀ ॥
bhaat bhaat sau rachh karehee |
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਤਰੁਨਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
taa te tarun adhik dukh paavai |
ਰੋਵਤ ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਨਿ ਗਵਾਵੈ ॥੧੧॥

ਲਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਲਾ ਭਏ ਰਾਮ ਸਾਛੀ ॥
lagee preet laalaa bhe raam saachhee |
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਆਜੁ ਜੋ ਮੈ ਨ ਤੋ ਕੌ ਨਿਹਾਰੌ ॥
kahiyo aaj jo mai na to kau nihaarau |
ਘਰੀ ਏਕ ਮੈ ਵਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਾਨਿ ਡਾਰੌ ॥੧੪॥

ਕਰੋ ਬਾਲ ਬੇਲੰਬ ਨ ਆਜੁ ਐਯੈ ॥
karo baal belanb na aaj aiyai |
ਇਹਾ ਤੇ ਮੁਝੈ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੈ ਸੰਗ ਜੈਯੈ ॥
eihaa te mujhai kaadt lai sang jaiyai |
ਕਬੈ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਾਨੀ ਕਹਾ ਮਾਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
kabai maan maanee kahaa maan keejai |
ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਾਨ ਕੋ ਦਾਨ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੧੫॥

ਰਚੀ ਬਾਲ ਲਾਲਾ ਸਭੈ ਰੂਪ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
rachee baal laalaa sabhai roop tere |
ਮਿਲੌ ਆਜੁ ਮੋ ਕੌ ਸੁਨੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
milau aaj mo kau suno praan mere |
ਕਹਾ ਮਾਨ ਮਾਤੇ ਫਿਰੌ ਐਂਠ ਐਂਠੇ ॥
kahaa maan maate firau aintth aintthe |
ਲਯੋ ਚੋਰਿ ਮੇਰੋ ਕਹਾ ਚਿਤ ਬੈਠੇ ॥੧੬॥
