ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
so sach sevihu sirajanahaaraa |
Serve the True Creator Lord.
ਸਬਦੇ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
sabade dookh nivaaranahaaraa |
The Word of the Shabad is the Destroyer of pain.
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ਆਪੇ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
agam agochar keemat nahee paaee aape agam athaahaa he |1|
He is inaccessible and unfathomable; He cannot be evaluated. He Himself is inaccessible and immeasurable. ||1||
ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤਾਏ ॥
aape sachaa sach varataae |
The True Lord Himself makes Truth pervasive.
ਇਕਿ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੈ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥
eik jan saachai aape laae |
He attaches some humble beings to the Truth.
ਸਾਚੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
saacho seveh saach kamaaveh naame sach samaahaa he |2|
They serve the True Lord and practice Truth; through the Name, they are absorbed in the True Lord. ||2||
ਧੁਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਮੇਲੇ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
dhur bhagataa mele aap milaae |
The Primal Lord unites His devotees in His Union.
ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥
sachee bhagatee aape laae |
He attaches them to true devotional worship.
ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਇਸੁ ਜਨਮੈ ਕਾ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
saachee baanee sadaa gun gaavai is janamai kaa laahaa he |3|
One who sings forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord, through the True Word of His Bani, earns the profit of this life. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਰੁ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥
guramukh vanaj kareh par aap pachhaaneh |
The Gurmukh trades, and understands his own self.
ਏਕਸ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥
ekas bin ko avar na jaaneh |
He knows no other than the One Lord.
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਸਚੇ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
sachaa saahu sache vanajaare poonjee naam visaahaa he |4|
True is the banker, and True are His traders, who buy the merchandise of the Naam. ||4||
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
aape saaje srisatt upaae |
He Himself fashions and creates the Universe.
ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
virale kau gurasabad bujhaae |
He inspires a few to realize the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੇ ਕਾਟੇ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਫਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
satigur seveh se jan saache kaatte jam kaa faahaa he |5|
Those humble beings who serve the True Guru are true. He snaps the noose of death from around their necks. ||5||
ਭੰਨੈ ਘੜੇ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਸਾਜੇ ॥
bhanai gharre savaare saaje |
He destroys, creates, embellishes and fashions all beings,
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਜੰਤ ਪਾਜੇ ॥
maaeaa mohi doojai jant paaje |
and attaches them to duality, attachment and Maya.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਜੇਵੜਾ ਗਲਿ ਫਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
manamukh fireh sadaa andh kamaaveh jam kaa jevarraa gal faahaa he |6|
The self-willed manmukhs wander around forever, acting blindly. Death has strung his noose around their necks. ||6||
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥
aape bakhase gur sevaa laae |
He Himself forgives, and enjoins us to serve the Guru.
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
guramatee naam man vasaae |
Through the Guru's Teachings, the Naam comes to dwell within the mind.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਸਾਚਾ ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
anadin naam dhiaae saachaa is jag meh naamo laahaa he |7|
Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the True Lord, and earn the profit of the Naam in this world. ||7||
ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੀ ਨਾਈ ॥
aape sachaa sachee naaee |
He Himself is True, and True is His Name.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
guramukh devai man vasaaee |
The Gurmukh bestows it, and enshrines it within the mind.
ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਚੂਕਾ ਕਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
jin man vasiaa se jan soheh tin sir chookaa kaahaa he |8|
Noble and exalted are those, within whose mind the Lord abides. Their heads are free of strife. ||8||
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
agam agochar keemat nahee paaee |
He is inaccessible and unfathomable; His value cannot be appraised.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
gur parasaadee man vasaaee |
By Guru's Grace, He dwells within the mind.
ਸਦਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੰਗੈ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
sadaa sabad saalaahee gunadaataa lekhaa koe na mangai taahaa he |9|
No one calls that person to account, who praises the Word of the Shabad, the Giver of virtue. ||9||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਰੁਦ੍ਰੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
brahamaa bisan rudru tis kee sevaa |
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva serve Him.
ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥
ant na paaveh alakh abhevaa |
Even they cannot find the limits of the unseen, unknowable Lord.
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੂ ਅਪਣੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
jin kau nadar kareh too apanee guramukh alakh lakhaahaa he |10|
Those who are blessed by Your Glance of Grace, become Gurmukh, and comprehend the incomprehensible. ||10||
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
poorai satigur sojhee paaee |
The Perfect True Guru has imparted this understanding.
ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
eko naam man vasaaee |
I have enshrined the Naam, the One Name, within my mind.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀ ਤੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
naam japee tai naam dhiaaee mehal paae gun gaahaa he |11|
I chant the Naam, and meditate on the Naam. Singing His Glorious Praises, I enter the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ||11||
ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
sevak seveh man hukam apaaraa |
The servant serves, and obeys the Command of the Infinite Lord.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸਾਰਾ ॥
manamukh hukam na jaaneh saaraa |
The self-willed manmukhs do not know the value of the Lord's Command.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਮੰਨੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
hukame mane hukame vaddiaaee hukame veparavaahaa he |12|
By the Hukam of the Lord's Command, one is exalted; by His Hukam, one is glorified; by His Hukam, one becomes carefree. ||12||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
gur parasaadee hukam pachhaanai |
By Guru's Grace, one recognizes the Lord's Hukam.
ਧਾਵਤੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣੈ ॥
dhaavat raakhai ikat ghar aanai |
The wandering mind is restrained, and brought back to the home of the One Lord.
ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
naame raataa sadaa bairaagee naam ratan man taahaa he |13|
Imbued with the Naam, one remains forever detached; the jewel of the Naam rests within the mind. ||13||
ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥
sabh jag meh varatai eko soee |
The One Lord is pervasive throughout all the world.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
gur parasaadee paragatt hoee |
By Guru's Grace, He is revealed.
ਸਬਦੁ ਸਲਾਹਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
sabad salaaheh se jan niramal nij ghar vaasaa taahaa he |14|
Those humble beings who praise the Shabad are immaculate; they dwell within the home of their own inner self. ||14||
ਸਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
sadaa bhagat teree saranaaee |
The devotees abide forever in Your Sanctuary, Lord.
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
agam agochar keemat nahee paaee |
You are inaccessible and unfathomable; Your value cannot be estimated.
ਜਿਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
jiau tudh bhaaveh tiau too raakheh guramukh naam dhiaahaa he |15|
As it pleases Your Will, You keep us; the Gurmukh meditates on the Naam. ||15||
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥
sadaa sadaa tere gun gaavaa |
Forever and ever, I sing Your Glorious Praises.
ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਾ ॥
sache saahib terai man bhaavaa |
O my True Lord and Master, may I become pleasing to Your Mind.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੧॥੧੦॥
naanak saach kahai benantee sach devahu sach samaahaa he |16|1|10|
Nanak offers this true prayer: O Lord, please bless me with Truth, that I may merge in the Truth. ||16||1||10||

ਛਲਿ ਸੋ ਬਡੋ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟਾਊ ॥੭॥

ਅਧਿਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਨ ਸੌ ਕੀਨੀ ॥
adhik preet besvan sau keenee |
ਲਛਮੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਭਨ ਕਹ ਦੀਨੀ ॥
lachhamee bahut sabhan keh deenee |
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰਤ ਜਿਹ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥
preet karat jih nripat hamaaro |
ਸੋ ਹਮ ਕੌ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਨ ਤੇ ਪ︀ਯਾਰੋ ॥੮॥
so ham kau praanan te payaaro |8|
ਇਹ ਸੁਨਿ ਬੈਨ ਫੂਲ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਗਯੋ ॥
eih sun bain fool nrip gayo |
ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਨ ਪਾਵਤ ਭਯੋ ॥
bhed abhed na paavat bhayo |
ਯਾ ਸੌ ਕਰਤ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮੈ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
yaa sau karat preet mai bhaaree |
ਰਾਨੀ ਕਰਤ ਤਾਹਿ ਰਖਵਾਰੀ ॥੯॥

ਜੋਤਿ ਮਤੀ ਜਿਯ ਮੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੈ ॥੧੧॥

ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਤੀਰ ਉਚਾਰੋ ॥
tab raanee nrip teer uchaaro |
ਸੁਨੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਜੂ ਬਚਨ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥
suno nripat joo bachan hamaaro |
ਬੇਰੀ ਏਕ ਬੈਠਿ ਸੁਖ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
beree ek baitth sukh keejai |
ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਵ ਬੇਸਵਨ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੧੨॥

ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਬੈਠਿ ਨਾਵ ਸੁਖ ਕੈਹੈ ॥
ham tum baitth naav sukh kaihai |
ਇਨ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਨ ਤੇ ਗੀਤਿ ਗਵੈਹੈ ॥
ein besvan te geet gavaihai |
ਜੋ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਇਨ ਤੇ ਲਖਿ ਲਿਜਿਯਹੁ ॥
jo sundar in te lakh lijiyahu |
ਤਾ ਸੌ ਭੋਗ ਰਾਵ ਤੁਮ ਕਿਜਿਯਹੁ ॥੧੩॥
taa sau bhog raav tum kijiyahu |13|
ਸੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਰਾਵ ਅਨੰਦਿਤ ਭਯੋ ॥
so sun raav anandit bhayo |
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਨ ਸਹਿਤ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਨ ਲੈ ਗਯੋ ॥
triyan sahit besvan lai gayo |
ਆਮੂੰ ਜਹਾ ਬਹਿਤ ਨਦ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
aamoon jahaa bahit nad bhaaro |
ਜਨੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਅਸਟਮ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਸਵਾਰੋ ॥੧੪॥
jan bidh asattam sindh savaaro |14|
ਨੀਕੀ ਨਾਵ ਰਾਨਿਯਨ ਲਈ ॥

ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਅਤਿ ਧਨੁ ਦੀਨੋ ॥
tab raanee tin at dhan deeno |
ਬੇਰਿਯਾਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਬਸਿ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
beriyaar apane bas keeno |
ਜਹਾ ਬਹਤ ਆਮੂੰ ਨਦ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
jahaa behat aamoon nad bhaaro |
ਬੇਸ੍ਵਨ ਤਹੀ ਬੋਰਿ ਤੁਮ ਡਾਰੋ ॥੧੬॥
besvan tahee bor tum ddaaro |16|
ਅਰਧ ਨਦੀ ਨਵਕਾ ਜਬ ਗਈ ॥
aradh nadee navakaa jab gee |
ਤਬ ਹੀ ਫੋਰਿ ਮਲਾਹਨ ਦਈ ॥
tab hee for malaahan dee |
ਸਭ ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਡੂਬਨ ਤਬ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
sabh besvaa ddooban tab laagee |
ਭਰੂਵਨਿ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸਨ ਕਹ ਭਾਗੀ ॥੧੭॥
bharoovan daso disan keh bhaagee |17|
ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਸਕਲ ਗੁਚਕਿਯਨ ਖਾਹੀ ॥
besvaa sakal guchakiyan khaahee |

ਅਮਿਤ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਬਹਤ ਕਹੂੰ ਜਾਹੀ ॥

ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਕਹੀ ਗੁਚਕਿਯਨ ਖਾਹੀ ॥੧੯॥

ਭਰੂਅਨਿ ਉਦਰ ਨੀਰ ਸੋ ਭਰੇ ॥

ਬੇਸ੍ਵਾ ਏਕ ਜਿਯਤ ਨਹਿ ਬਾਚੀ ॥

ਡੂਬਤ ਵਹੂ ਨਦੀ ਮਹਿ ਭਯੋ ॥
ddoobat vahoo nadee meh bhayo |
ਧਾਰ ਧਾਰ ਭਰੁਅਨਿ ਇਕ ਕਰਹੀ ॥

ਡੂਬਿ ਡੂਬਿ ਸਰਿਤਾ ਮੋ ਮਰਹੀ ॥੨੩॥
