Maaroo, Third Mehl:
ਜੋ ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਜਾਸੀ ॥
jo aaeaa so sabh ko jaasee |
All who come shall have to depart.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਾਧਾ ਜਮ ਫਾਸੀ ॥
doojai bhaae baadhaa jam faasee |
In the love of duality, they are caught by the noose of the Messenger of Death.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
satigur raakhe se jan ubare saache saach samaaee he |1|
Those humble beings who are protected by the True Guru, are saved. They merge into the Truest of the True. ||1||
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ॥
aape karataa kar kar vekhai |
The Creator Himself creates the creation, and watches over it.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਲੇਖੈ ॥
jis no nadar kare soee jan lekhai |
Thay alone are acceptable, upon whom He bestows His Glance of Grace.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
guramukh giaan tis sabh kichh soojhai agiaanee andh kamaaee he |2|
The Gurmukh attains spiritual wisdom, and understands everything. The ignorant ones act blindly. ||2||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਹਸਾ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
manamukh sahasaa boojh na paaee |
The self-willed manmukh is cynical; he doesn't understand.
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
mar mar jamai janam gavaaee |
He dies and dies again, only to be reborn, and loses his life uselessly again.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
guramukh naam rate sukh paaeaa sahaje saach samaaee he |3|
The Gurmukh is imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord; he find peace, and is intuitively immersed in the True Lord. ||3||
ਧੰਧੈ ਧਾਵਤ ਮਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੂਰਾ ॥
dhandhai dhaavat man bheaa manooraa |
Chasing after worldly affairs, the mind has become corroded and rusty.
ਫਿਰਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
fir hovai kanchan bhettai gur pooraa |
But meeting with the Perfect Guru, it is transmuted into gold once again.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
aape bakhas le sukh paae poorai sabad milaaee he |4|
When the Lord Himself grants forgiveness, then peace is obtained; through the Perfect Word of the Shabad, one is united with Him. ||4||
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਝੂਠੀ ਬੁਰੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਰਿ ॥
duramat jhootthee buree buriaar |
The false and evil-minded are the most wicked of the wicked.
ਅਉਗਣਿਆਰੀ ਅਉਗਣਿਆਰਿ ॥
aauganiaaree aauganiaar |
They are the most unworthy of the unworthy.
ਕਚੀ ਮਤਿ ਫੀਕਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲੈ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
kachee mat feekaa mukh bolai duramat naam na paaee he |5|
With false intellect, and insipid words of mouth, evil-minded, they do not obtain the Naam. ||5||
ਅਉਗਣਿਆਰੀ ਕੰਤ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
aauganiaaree kant na bhaavai |
The unworthy soul-bride is not pleasing to her Husband Lord.
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਜੂਠੀ ਜੂਠੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
man kee jootthee jootth kamaavai |
False-minded, her actions are false.
ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਸਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਮੂਰਖਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
pir kaa saau na jaanai moorakh bin gur boojh na paaee he |6|
The foolish person does not know the excellence of her Husband Lord. Without the Guru, she does not understand at all. ||6||
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਟੀ ਖੋਟੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
duramat khottee khott kamaavai |
The evil-minded, wicked soul-bride practices wickedness.
ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਪਿਰ ਖਸਮ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
seegaar kare pir khasam na bhaavai |
She decorates herself, but her Husband Lord is not pleased.
ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
gunavantee sadaa pir raavai satigur mel milaaee he |7|
The virtuous soul-bride enjoys and ravishes her Husband Lord forever; the True Guru unites her in His Union. ||7||
ਆਪੇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਸਭੁ ਵੇਖੈ ॥
aape hukam kare sabh vekhai |
God Himself issues the Hukam of His Command, and beholds all.
ਇਕਨਾ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਧੁਰਿ ਲੇਖੈ ॥
eikanaa bakhas le dhur lekhai |
Some are forgiven, according to their pre-ordained destiny.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
anadin naam rate sach paaeaa aape mel milaaee he |8|
Night and day, they are imbued with the Naam, and they find the True Lord. He Himself unites them in His Union. ||8||
ਹਉਮੈ ਧਾਤੁ ਮੋਹ ਰਸਿ ਲਾਈ ॥
haumai dhaat moh ras laaee |
Egotism attaches them to the juice of emotional attachment, and makes them run around.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਿਵ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
guramukh liv saachee sehaj samaaee |
The Gurmukh is intuitively immersed in the True Love of the Lord.
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੈ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
aape melai aape kar vekhai bin satigur boojh na paaee he |9|
He Himself unites, He Himself acts, and beholds. Without the True Guru, understanding is not obtained. ||9||
ਇਕਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਜਨ ਜਾਗੇ ॥
eik sabad veechaar sadaa jan jaage |
Some contemplate the Word of the Shabad; these humble beings remain always awake and aware.
ਇਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਸੋਇ ਰਹੇ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥
eik maaeaa mohi soe rahe abhaage |
Some are attached to the love of Maya; these unfortunate ones remain asleep.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਰੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
aape kare karaae aape hor karanaa kichhoo na jaaee he |10|
He Himself acts, and inspires all to act; no one else can do anything. ||10||
ਕਾਲੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
kaal maar gur sabad nivaare |
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, death is conquered and killed.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖੈ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
har kaa naam rakhai ur dhaare |
Keep the Name of the Lord enshrined within your heart.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
satigur sevaa te sukh paaeaa har kai naam samaaee he |11|
Serving the True Guru, peace is obtained, and one merges in the Name of the Lord. ||11||
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਫਿਰੈ ਦੇਵਾਨੀ ॥
doojai bhaae firai devaanee |
In the love of duality, the world wanders around insane.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
maaeaa mohi dukh maeh samaanee |
Immersed in love and attachment to Maya, it suffers in pain.
ਬਹੁਤੇ ਭੇਖ ਕਰੈ ਨਹ ਪਾਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
bahute bhekh karai neh paae bin satigur sukh na paaee he |12|
Wearing all sorts of religious robes, He is not obtained. Without the True Guru, peace is not found. ||12||
ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
kis no kaheeai jaa aap karaae |
Who is to blame, when He Himself does everything?
ਜਿਤੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਤੁ ਰਾਹਿ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
jit bhaavai tith raeh chalaae |
As He wills, so is the path we take.
ਆਪੇ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਚਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
aape miharavaan sukhadaataa jiau bhaavai tivai chalaaee he |13|
He Himself is the Merciful Giver of peace; as He wills, so do we follow. ||13||
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ॥
aape karataa aape bhugataa |
He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer.
ਆਪੇ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਆਪੇ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥
aape sanjam aape jugataa |
He Himself is detached, and He Himself is attached.
ਆਪੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ਮਧੁਸੂਦਨੁ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਮੇਟਿਆ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
aape niramal miharavaan madhusoodan jis daa hukam na mettiaa jaaee he |14|
He Himself is immaculate, compassionate, the lover of nectar; the Hukam of His Command cannot be erased. ||14||
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
se vaddabhaagee jinee eko jaataa |
Those who know the One Lord are very fortunate.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਵਸਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
ghatt ghatt vas rahiaa jagajeevan daataa |
He dwells in each and every heart, the Great Giver, the Life of the world.
ਇਕ ਥੈ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
eik thai gupat paragatt hai aape guramukh bhram bhau jaaee he |15|
At the same time, He is both hidden and revealed. For the Gurmukh, doubt and fear are dispelled. ||15||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
guramukh har jeeo eko jaataa |
The Gurmukh knows the One, the Dear Lord.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
antar naam sabad pachhaataa |
Deep within the nucleus of his inner being, is the Naam, the Name of the Lord; he realizes the Word of the Shabad.
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੪॥
jis too dehi soee jan paae naanak naam vaddaaee he |16|4|
He alone receives it, unto whom You give it. O Nanak, the Naam is glorious greatness. ||16||4||

ਸਭ ਸੂਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਥਮੈ ਹਨੇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਕੌ ਕੂਟਿ ॥
sabh sooraa prathamai hane bahur nripat kau koott |
ਜੋ ਲਸਕਰ ਬਾਕੀ ਬਚਿਯੋ ਸੋ ਸਭ ਲੀਨੋ ਲੂਟਿ ॥੧੨॥
jo lasakar baakee bachiyo so sabh leeno loott |12|
ਸਭ ਬੈਰਿਨ ਕੌ ਘਾਇ ਕੈ ਸੁਤ ਕੌ ਰਾਜ ਬੈਠਾਇ ॥
sabh bairin kau ghaae kai sut kau raaj baitthaae |
ਪੁਨਿ ਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਫੈਂਟਾ ਭਏ ਜਰੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਬਜਾਇ ॥੧੩॥
pun pat ke fainttaa bhe jaree mridang bajaae |13|
ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਖ︀ਯਾਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਬਾਦੇ ਇਕ ਸੌ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਠਵੋ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੧੬੩॥੩੨੩੭॥ਅਫਜੂੰ॥

hajarat kau praanan te payaaree |
ਮੁਖ ਸੂਖਤ ਜੀ ਜੀ ਤਿਹ ਕਰਤੇ ॥
mukh sookhat jee jee tih karate |
ਅਨਤ ਨ ਲਖੇ ਤਵਨ ਕੇ ਡਰਤੇ ॥੧॥
anat na lakhe tavan ke ddarate |1|
ਬੇਗਮ ਬਾਗ ਏਕ ਦਿਨ ਚਲੀ ॥
begam baag ek din chalee |
ਸੋਰਹ ਸਤ ਲੀਨੋ ਸੰਗ ਅਲੀ ॥
sorah sat leeno sang alee |
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਨਰ ਇਕ ਪੇਖਤ ਭਈ ॥
sundar nar ik pekhat bhee |
ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੌ ਭੂਲਿ ਸਕਲ ਸੁਧਿ ਗਈ ॥੨॥
triy kau bhool sakal sudh gee |2|

ਜੋਬਨ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਸਖੀ ਹੁਤੀ ਲੀਨੀ ਨਿਕਟ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥
joban kuar sakhee hutee leenee nikatt bulaae |
ਉਦੈ ਪੁਰੀ ਤਾ ਸੌ ਸਕਲ ਭੇਦ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥੩॥
audai puree taa sau sakal bhed kahiyo samajhaae |3|

ਕਾਨਿ ਕਰੌ ਨਹਿ ਸਾਹਿਜਹਾਨ ਕੀ ਧਾਮ ਜਿਤੋ ਧਨ ਹੈ ਸੁ ਲੁਟਾਊਾਂ ॥
kaan karau neh saahijahaan kee dhaam jito dhan hai su luttaaooaan |
ਅੰਬਰ ਫਾਰਿ ਦਿਗੰਬਰ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕਰਿ ਚੰਦਨੁਤਾਰਿ ਬਿਭੂਤਿ ਚੜਾਊਾਂ ॥
anbar faar diganbar hvai kar chandanutaar bibhoot charraaooaan |
ਕਾ ਸੌ ਕਹੌ ਨਹਿ ਤੂ ਹਮਰੋ ਕੋਊ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਕਹਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੁਨਾਊਾਂ ॥
kaa sau kahau neh too hamaro koaoo jee kee brithaa keh taeh sunaaooaan |
ਪੰਖ ਦਏ ਬਿਧਿ ਤੂ ਲਖਿ ਮੋ ਕਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੌ ਉਡਿ ਕੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਊਾਂ ॥੪॥
pankh de bidh too lakh mo keh preetam kau udd kai mil aaooaan |4|
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਤਿਹ ਸੌ ਕਿਹ ਕਾਜ ਸੁ ਮੀਤ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਜੁ ਮੀਤ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
preet karee tih sau kih kaaj su meet ke kaaj ju meet na aavai |
ਪੀਰ ਕਹੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਉਹਿ ਪੀਰ ਕੌ ਪੀਰ ਕੇ ਨੀਰ ਬੁਝਾਵੈ ॥
peer kahai apane chit mai uhi peer kau peer ke neer bujhaavai |
ਹੌ ਅਟਕੀ ਮਨ ਭਾਵਨ ਸੌ ਮੁਹਿ ਕੈਸਿਯੈ ਬਾਤ ਕੋਊ ਕਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
hau attakee man bhaavan sau muhi kaisiyai baat koaoo keh jaavai |
ਹੌ ਹੋਊ ਦਾਸਨ ਦਾਸਿ ਸਖੀ ਮੁਹਿ ਜੋ ਕੋਊ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥੫॥
hau hoaoo daasan daas sakhee muhi jo koaoo preetam aan milaavai |5|
ਜੋ ਸਖੀ ਕਾਜ ਕਰੈ ਹਮਰੋ ਤਿਹ ਭੂਖਨ ਕੀ ਕਛੁ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਹੈ ॥
jo sakhee kaaj karai hamaro tih bhookhan kee kachh bhookh na hvai hai |
ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਭਰੇ ਘਰ ਬਾਰ ਸੁ ਏਕਹਿ ਬਾਰ ਹਜਾਰਨ ਲੈ ਹੈ ॥
basatr apaar bhare ghar baar su ekeh baar hajaaran lai hai |
ਮੋਰੀ ਦਸਾ ਅਵਲੋਕਿ ਕੈ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੀ ਹਿਯੋ ਮੈ ਪਛੁਤੈ ਹੈ ॥
moree dasaa avalok kai sundar jaanat hee hiyo mai pachhutai hai |
ਕੀਜੈ ਉਪਾਇ ਦੀਜੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਆਇ ਕਿ ਮੀਤ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਕਿ ਮੋਹੂ ਨ ਪੈ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
keejai upaae deejai bikh aae ki meet milaae ki mohoo na pai hai |6|
ਐਸੇ ਉਦੈ ਪੁਰੀ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਬਚ ਜੋਬਨ ਕੁਅਰਿ ਜਬੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
aise udai puree ke mukh te bach joban kuar jabai sun paayo |
ਤਾਹਿ ਪਛਾਨ ਭਲੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੌ ਮਨ ਬੀਚ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਇਹੈ ਠਹਰਾਯੋ ॥
taeh pachhaan bhalee bidh sau man beech bichaar ihai tthaharaayo |
ਦੇਗ ਮੈ ਡਾਰਿ ਚਲੀ ਤਿਤ ਕੋ ਬਗਵਾਨਨ ਭਾਖਿ ਪਕ੍ਵਾਨ ਲਖਾਯੋ ॥
deg mai ddaar chalee tith ko bagavaanan bhaakh pakvaan lakhaayo |
ਸਾਇਤ ਏਕ ਬਿਹਾਨੀ ਨ ਬਾਗ ਮੈ ਆਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਕੌ ਮੀਤ ਮਿਲਾਯੋ ॥੭॥
