Maaroo, First Mehl:
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਰੁ ਭਾਗੋ ਕਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
sabad marai taa maar mar bhaago kis peh jaau |
One who dies in the Word of the Shabad conquers death; otherwise, where can you run?
ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਡਰਿ ਭੈ ਭਾਗੀਐ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਨਾਉ ॥
jis kai ddar bhai bhaageeai amrit taa ko naau |
Through the Fear of God, fear runs away; His Name is Ambrosial Nectar.
ਮਾਰਹਿ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਤੂ ਬੀਜਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥
maareh raakheh ek too beejau naahee thaau |1|
You alone kill and protect; except for You, there is no place at all. ||1||
ਬਾਬਾ ਮੈ ਕੁਚੀਲੁ ਕਾਚਉ ਮਤਿਹੀਨ ॥
baabaa mai kucheel kaachau matiheen |
O Baba, I am filthy, shallow and totally without understanding.
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋ ਕਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪੂਰੀ ਮਤਿ ਕੀਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam binaa ko kachh nahee gur poorai pooree mat keen |1| rahaau |
Without the Naam, no one is anything; the Perfect Guru has made my intellect perfect. ||1||Pause||
ਅਵਗਣਿ ਸੁਭਰ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਕਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
avagan subhar gun nahee bin gun kiau ghar jaau |
I am full of faults, and I have no virtue at all. Without virtues, how can I go home?
ਸਹਜਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
sehaj sabad sukh aoopajai bin bhaagaa dhan naeh |
Through the Word of the Shabad, intuitive peace wells up; without good destiny, the wealth is not obtained.
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸੇ ਬਾਧੇ ਦੂਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
jin kai naam na man vasai se baadhe dookh sahaeh |2|
Those whose minds are not filled with the Naam are bound and gagged, and suffer in pain. ||2||
ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਕਿਤੁ ਆਏ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
jinee naam visaariaa se kit aae sansaar |
Those who have forgotten the Naam - why have they even come into the world?
ਆਗੈ ਪਾਛੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਗਾਡੇ ਲਾਦੇ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
aagai paachhai sukh nahee gaadde laade chhaar |
Here and hereafter, they do not find any peace; they have loaded their carts with ashes.
ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਮੇਲਾ ਨਹੀ ਦੂਖੁ ਘਣੋ ਜਮ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥੩॥
vichhurriaa melaa nahee dookh ghano jam duaar |3|
Those who are separated, do not meet with the Lord; they suffer in terrible pain at Death's Door. ||3||
ਅਗੈ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਮੈ ਭੂਲੇ ਤੂ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥
agai kiaa jaanaa naeh mai bhoole too samajhaae |
I do not know what will happen in the world hereafter; I am so confused - please teach me, Lord!
ਭੂਲੇ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਜੋ ਦਸੇ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥
bhoole maarag jo dase tis kai laagau paae |
I am confused; I would fall at the feet of one who shows me the Way.
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥
gur bin daataa ko nahee keemat kehan na jaae |4|
Without the Guru, there is no giver at all; His value cannot be described. ||4||
ਸਾਜਨੁ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਾ ਗਲਿ ਮਿਲਾ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਠਾਇਓ ਲੇਖੁ ॥
saajan dekhaa taa gal milaa saach patthaaeo lekh |
If I see my friend, then I will embrace Him; I have sent Him the letter of Truth.
ਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਮਾਣੈ ਧਨ ਖੜੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਖੀ ਦੇਖੁ ॥
mukh dhimaanai dhan kharree guramukh aakhee dekh |
His soul-bride stands waiting expectantly; as Gurmukh, I see Him with my eyes.
ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੂ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਹਿ ਨਦਰੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਵਿਸੇਖੁ ॥੫॥
tudh bhaavai too man vaseh nadaree karam visekh |5|
By the Pleasure of Your Will, You abide in my mind, and bless me with Your Glance of Grace. ||5||
ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸੋ ਜੇ ਭਵੈ ਕਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਗਉ ਦੇਇ ॥
bhookh piaaso je bhavai kiaa tis maagau dee |
One who is wandering hungry and thirsty - what can he give, and what can anyone ask from him?
ਬੀਜਉ ਸੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
beejau soojhai ko nahee man tan pooran dee |
I cannot conceive of any other, who can bless my mind and body with perfection.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਦੇਇ ॥੬॥
jin keea tin dekhiaa aap vaddaaee dee |6|
The One who created me takes care of me; He Himself blesses me with glory. ||6||
ਨਗਰੀ ਨਾਇਕੁ ਨਵਤਨੋ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਲੀਲ ਅਨੂਪੁ ॥
nagaree naaeik navatano baalak leel anoop |
In the body-village is my Lord and Master, whose body is ever-new, Innocent and child-like, incomparably playful.
ਨਾਰਿ ਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਪੰਖਣੂ ਸਾਚਉ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਸਰੂਪੁ ॥
naar na purakh na pankhanoo saachau chatur saroop |
He is neither a woman, nor a man, nor a bird; the True Lord is so wise and beautiful.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਤੂ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਤੂ ਧੂਪੁ ॥੭॥
jo tis bhaavai so theeai too deepak too dhoop |7|
Whatever pleases Him, happens; You are the lamp, and You are the incense. ||7||
ਗੀਤ ਸਾਦ ਚਾਖੇ ਸੁਣੇ ਬਾਦ ਸਾਦ ਤਨਿ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
geet saad chaakhe sune baad saad tan rog |
He hears the songs and tastes the flavors, but these flavors are useless and insipid, and bring only disease to the body.
ਸਚੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾਚਉ ਚਵੈ ਛੂਟੈ ਸੋਗ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ॥
sach bhaavai saachau chavai chhoottai sog vijog |
One who loves the Truth and speaks the Truth, escapes from the sorrow of separation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੁ ॥੮॥੩॥
naanak naam na veesarai jo tis bhaavai su hog |8|3|
Nanak does not forget the Naam; whatever happens is by the Lord's Will. ||8||3||

ਸਾਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਹੋਰਿ ਲਾਲਚ ਬਾਦਿ ॥
saachee kaar kamaavanee hor laalach baad |
Practice Truth - other greed and attachments are useless.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਸਚਿ ਸਾਦਿ ॥
eihu man saachai mohiaa jihavaa sach saad |
The True Lord has fascinated this mind, and my tongue enjoys the taste of Truth.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਰਸੁ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਰਿ ਚਲਹਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਲਾਦਿ ॥੧॥
bin naavai ko ras nahee hor chaleh bikh laad |1|
Without the Name, there is no juice; the others depart, loaded with poison. ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਲਾਲਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਾਲ ਕੋ ਸੁਣਿ ਖਸਮ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥
aisaa laalaa mere laal ko sun khasam hamaare |
I am such a slave of Yours, O my Beloved Lord and Master.
ਜਿਉ ਫੁਰਮਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਚਲਾ ਸਚੁ ਲਾਲ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jiau furamaaveh tiau chalaa sach laal piaare |1| rahaau |
I walk in harmony with Your Command, O my True, Sweet Beloved. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲਾਲੇ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਗੋਲੇ ਸਿਰਿ ਮੀਰਾ ॥
anadin laale chaakaree gole sir meeraa |
Night and day, the slave works for his overlord.
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਵੇਚਿਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਾ ॥
gur bachanee man vechiaa sabad man dheeraa |
I have sold my mind for the Word of the Guru's Shabad; my mind is comforted and consoled by the Shabad.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਕਾਟੈ ਮਨ ਪੀਰਾ ॥੨॥
gur poore saabaas hai kaattai man peeraa |2|
The Perfect Guru is honored and celebrated; He has taken away the pains of my mind. ||2||
ਲਾਲਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਧਣੀ ਕੋ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਉ ਵਡਿਆਈਐ ॥
laalaa golaa dhanee ko kiaa khau vaddiaaeeai |
I am the servant and slave of my Master; what glorious greatness of His can I describe?
ਭਾਣੈ ਬਖਸੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਧਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈਐ ॥
bhaanai bakhase pooraa dhanee sach kaar kamaaeeai |
The Perfect Master, by the Pleasure of His Will, forgives, and then one practices Truth.
ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਕਉ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
vichhurriaa kau mel le gur kau bal jaaeeai |3|
I am a sacrifice to my Guru, who re-unites the separated ones. ||3||
ਲਾਲੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਮਤਿ ਖਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਨੀਕੀ ॥
laale gole mat kharee gur kee mat neekee |
The intellect of His servant and slave is noble and true; it is made so by the Guru's intellect.
ਸਾਚੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਤਿ ਫੀਕੀ ॥
saachee surat suhaavanee manamukh mat feekee |
The intuition of those who are true is beautiful; the intellect of the self-willed manmukh is insipid.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਚੁ ਧੀਰਕ ਧੁਰ ਕੀ ॥੪॥
man tan teraa too prabhoo sach dheerak dhur kee |4|
My mind and body belong to You, God; from the very beginning, Truth has been my only support. ||4||
ਸਾਚੈ ਬੈਸਣੁ ਉਠਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਭਾਖਿਆ ॥
saachai baisan utthanaa sach bhojan bhaakhiaa |
In Truth I sit and stand; I eat and speak the Truth.
ਚਿਤਿ ਸਚੈ ਵਿਤੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥
chit sachai vito sachaa saachaa ras chaakhiaa |
With Truth in my consciousness, I gather the wealth of Truth, and drink in the sublime essence of Truth.
ਸਾਚੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਖੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥੫॥
saachai ghar saachai rakhe gur bachan subhaakhiaa |5|
In the home of Truth, the True Lord protects me; I speak the Words of the Guru's Teachings with love. ||5||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਉ ਆਲਸੁ ਘਣੋ ਫਾਥੇ ਓਜਾੜੀ ॥
manamukh kau aalas ghano faathe ojaarree |
The self-willed manmukh is very lazy; he is trapped in the wilderness.
ਫਾਥਾ ਚੁਗੈ ਨਿਤ ਚੋਗੜੀ ਲਗਿ ਬੰਧੁ ਵਿਗਾੜੀ ॥
faathaa chugai nit chogarree lag bandh vigaarree |
He is drawn to the bait, and continually pecking at it, he is trapped; his link to the Lord is ruined.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਿਜ ਤਾੜੀ ॥੬॥
gur parasaadee mukat hoe saache nij taarree |6|
By Guru's Grace, one is liberated, absorbed in the primal trance of Truth. ||6||
ਅਨਹਤਿ ਲਾਲਾ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
anahat laalaa bedhiaa prabh het piaaree |
His slave remains continually pierced through with love and affection for God.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਜੀਉ ਜਲਿ ਬਲਉ ਝੂਠੇ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ॥
bin saache jeeo jal blau jhootthe vekaaree |
Without the True Lord, the soul of the false, corrupt person is burnt to ashes.
ਬਾਦਿ ਕਾਰਾ ਸਭਿ ਛੋਡੀਆ ਸਾਚੀ ਤਰੁ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੭॥
baad kaaraa sabh chhoddeea saachee tar taaree |7|
Abandoning all evil actions, he crosses over in the boat of Truth. ||7||
ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥
jinee naam visaariaa tinaa tthaur na tthaau |
Those who have forgotten the Naam have no home, no place of rest.
ਲਾਲੈ ਲਾਲਚੁ ਤਿਆਗਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
laalai laalach tiaagiaa paaeaa har naau |
The Lord's slave renounces greed and attachment, and obtains the Lord's Name.
ਤੂ ਬਖਸਹਿ ਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੮॥੪॥
too bakhaseh taa mel laihi naanak bal jaau |8|4|
If You forgive him, Lord, then He is united with You; Nanak is a sacrifice. ||8||4||

ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਕੌ ਜੁਧ ਬਿਲੌਕਿ ਕੈ ਪਾਰਥ ਭਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ︀ਯ ॥
triy kau judh bilauak kai paarath bhayo prasanay |
Learning about woman’s fight, Arjan was mush gratified and,
ਕਹਿਯੋ ਆਜੁ ਤੈ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਤੀ ਧਰਨੀ ਤਲ ਮੈ ਧੰਨ︀ਯ ॥੩੭॥
kahiyo aaj tai dropatee dharanee tal mai dhanay |37|
And complimented her saying, ‘You are the supreme.’(37)

ਮੈ ਅਬ ਬਿਕਿ ਦਾਮਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਯੋ ॥
mai ab bik daaman bin gayo |
ਜਨੁ ਤੈ ਦਾਸ ਮੋਲ ਕੋ ਲਯੋ ॥
jan tai daas mol ko layo |
‘Without any monetary compensation, I am yours like a servant.
ਜੋ ਕਛੁ ਕਹੌ ਕਾਰਜ ਤਵ ਕਰਿਹੋ ॥
jo kachh kahau kaaraj tav kariho |
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਜਾਨ ਤੇ ਨੈਕੁ ਨ ਡਰਿਹੋ ॥੩੮॥
praan jaan te naik na ddariho |38|
‘Whatever you order I will abide by and my life is worth sacrificingfor you.’(38)

ਤਰੁਨ ਬਿਧਾਤੈ ਤਵ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਤਰਨੀ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੋਹਿ ॥
tarun bidhaatai tav kariyo taranee keeno mohi |
‘The God has endowed you with manliness and me as an epitome ofwomanhood.
ਕੇਲ ਕਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਜਾਤ ਲੈ ਲਾਜ ਨ ਲਾਗਤ ਤੋਹਿ ॥੩੯॥
kel kare bin jaat lai laaj na laagat tohi |39|
‘Without making love to me how can you go. Won’t be ashamed ofyourself?’(39)

ਬਾਨਾਵਲੀ ਧਨੰਜੈ ਧਾਰੀ ॥

ਮੁਰਛਿਤ ਸਕਲ ਸੈਨ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰੀ ॥
murachhit sakal sain kar ddaaree |
Arjan discharged all the arrows and whole army became unconscious.
ਦ੍ਰੁਪਤੀ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ਸੋਊ ॥
drupatee saath bihaariyo soaoo |
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਦੇਖਤ ਭਯੋ ਨ ਕੋਊ ॥੪੦॥
taa ko dekhat bhayo na koaoo |40|
Then he made love with Daropdee and no one could observe.(40)

ਚੁੰਬਨ ਆਸਨ ਲੈ ਘਨੇ ਰਤਿ ਮਾਨੀ ਦ੍ਰੁਪਤੀਸ ॥
chunban aasan lai ghane rat maanee drupatees |
Through various poses and kisses, Daropdee relished the lovemaking.
ਤਾ ਪਰ ਕੋਊ ਨ ਪਰ ਸਕੇ ਠਟਕਿ ਰਹੇ ਅਵਨੀਸ ॥੪੧॥
taa par koaoo na par sake tthattak rahe avanees |41|
None could interfere and all the princes were shuddered with fear.(41)
ਜੀਤਿ ਕੈਰਵਨ ਕੇ ਦਲਹਿ ਦ੍ਰੁਪਤਿਹ ਲਯੋ ਛਿਨਾਇ ॥
jeet kairavan ke daleh drupatih layo chhinaae |
Defeating the army of Kauravas, he won Daropdee.
ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਮਾਰੇ ਹਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਧੰਨ︀ਯ ਧਨੰਜੈ ਰਾਇ ॥੪੨॥
nrip maare haare ge dhanay dhananjai raae |42|
He killed the foes and he acclaimed, ‘Great is Arjan.’(42)

ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਸਕਲ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
pratham sooramaa sakal nivaare |

bache bhaaje bhire te maare |
In the first place, he had killed the intrepid, and those who were left,ran away.
ਜੀਤਿ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਤੀ ਅਤਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
jeet dropatee at sukh paayo |
ਤਬ ਪਾਰਥ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਓਰ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥੪੩॥
tab paarath grih or sidhaayo |43|
Then attained the bliss and winning Daropdee marched to his domain.(43)(1)

sundaree bhavan chauadahoon jaanee |
Abhawatti, the Rani of Uddisa, was renown for her beauty in all the fourteen continents.
ਤਾ ਕੌ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਬਿਰਾਜੈ ॥
taa kau at hee roop biraajai |
ਸੁਰੀ ਆਸੁਰਿਨਿ ਕੌ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਜੈ ॥੧॥
suree aasurin kau man laajai |1|
She was so pretty that both, the gods and the devils, fell for her.(1)
ਰੂਪਮਾਨ ਤਿਹ ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
roopamaan tih nain nihaariyo |
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਚੀਤਿ ਮੀਤ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
taa ko cheet meet kar ddaariyo |
She saw Roopmaan and fell in love with him.
ਵਾ ਕੇ ਧਾਮ ਬੁਲਾਵਨ ਕੀਨੋ ॥
vaa ke dhaam bulaavan keeno |
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੋ ਆਸਨ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੨॥

ਤਾਹਿ ਕੇਸਅਰਿ ਬਕਤ੍ਰ ਲਗਾਯੋ ॥
taeh kesar bakatr lagaayo |
ਸਭ ਕੇਸਨ ਕੌ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਾਯੋ ॥
sabh kesan kau door karaayo |
She applied the hair-removing powder on his face and cleared all the hair.
ਪੁਰਖਹੁ ਤੇ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਡਾਰੀ ॥
purakhahu te isatree kar ddaaree |
ਮਿਤ ਪਤਿ ਲੈ ਤੀਰਥਨ ਸਿਧਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
mit pat lai teerathan sidhaaree |3|
From a man, she changed him to woman, and taking the friend and the husband went on a pilgrimage.(3)
ਪਤਿ ਕੋ ਕਹੀ ਬਾਤ ਸਮੁਝਾਈ ॥
pat ko kahee baat samujhaaee |
ਮੋਰੀ ਹਿਯਾ ਬਹਿਨ ਇਕ ਆਈ ॥
moree hiyaa bahin ik aaee |
She convinced her husband, ‘My sister has come,
ਤਾਹਿ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਤੀਰਥ ਲੈਹੋ ॥
taeh sang lai teerath laiho |
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਦਾ ਕਰ ਦੈਹੋ ॥੪॥
sabh hee paap bidaa kar daiho |4|
‘We will take her with us and, through ablution, we will wash away all our sins.’(4)

ਪਤਿ ਮਿਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਸਿਧਾਈ ਤੀਰਥਨ ॥
pat mit lai ke sang sidhaaee teerathan |
She went on pilgrimage with her husband and friend.
ਐਸ ਸਹੇਟ ਬਨਾਈ ਅਪਨੇ ਯਾਰ ਤਨ ॥
ais sahett banaaee apane yaar tan |
She conceived such a scheme with the paramour,
ਜਬ ਪਿਯ ਲੈ ਗੰਗਾ ਮਹਿ ਨੈਹੋ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ॥
jab piy lai gangaa meh naiho jaae kai |
That when the husband was bathing in the River Ganga,
ਹੋ ਭਗਨੀ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਭਾਖਿ ਮਿਲੌਗੀ ਆਇ ਕੈ ॥੫॥
ho bhaganee mukh te bhaakh milauagee aae kai |5|
With an excuse to see her sister, she would come to see him.(5)
