Pauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਨਾਰਾਇਣਿ ਲਇਆ ਨਾਠੂੰਗੜਾ ਪੈਰ ਕਿਥੈ ਰਖੈ ॥

naaraaein leaa naatthoongarraa pair kithai rakhai |

One who has received a kick from the Lord God - where can he place his foot?

ਕਰਦਾ ਪਾਪ ਅਮਿਤਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਵਿਸੋ ਚਖੈ ॥

karadaa paap amitiaa nit viso chakhai |

He commits countless sins, and continually eats poison.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੇਹੀ ਭਖੈ ॥

nindaa karadaa pach muaa vich dehee bhakhai |

Slandering others, he wastes away and dies; within his body, he burns.

ਸਚੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਕਉਣੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਰਖੈ ॥

sachai saahib maariaa kaun tis no rakhai |

One who has been struck down by the True Lord and Master - who can save him now?

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਜੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਲਖੈ ॥੨੮॥

naanak tis saranaagatee jo purakh alakhai |28|

Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Unseen Lord, the Primal Being. ||28||
