ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਥਿ ਸਕਥ ਹਨਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ।
guramukh hath sakath han saadhasangat gur kaar kamaavai |
Worthy are the hands of the Sikh who in the holy congregation do the Guru's work.
ਪਾਣੀ ਪਖਾ ਪੀਹਣਾ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਇ ਚਰਣਾਮਤੁ ਪਾਵੈ ।
paanee pakhaa peehanaa pair dhoe charanaamat paavai |
Who draw water, fan the sangat, grind the flour, wash the feet of Guru and drink the water therefrom;
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਿਖਿ ਪੋਥੀਆ ਤਾਲ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਰਬਾਬ ਵਜਾਵੈ ।
gurabaanee likh potheea taal mridang rabaab vajaavai |
Who copy the Guru's hymns and play the cymbals, the mirdang, a small drum, and the rebeck in the company of holy.
ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਡੰਡਉਤ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਰਭਾਈ ਗਲਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਵੈ ।
namasakaar ddanddaut kar gurabhaaee gal mil gal laavai |
Worthy are the hands who bow, help in prostrating and embrace a brother Sikh;
ਕਿਰਤਿ ਵਿਰਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਹਥਹੁ ਦੇ ਕੈ ਭਲਾ ਮਨਾਵੈ ।
kirat virat kar dharam dee hathahu de kai bhalaa manaavai |
Who eam livelihood honestly and munificently confer favour on others.
ਪਾਰਸੁ ਪਰਸਿ ਅਪਰਸਿ ਹੋਇ ਪਰ ਤਨ ਪਰ ਧਨ ਹਥੁ ਨ ਲਾਵੈ ।
paaras paras aparas hoe par tan par dhan hath na laavai |
Worthy of praise are the hands of such a Sikh who by coming in touch with Guru becomes indifferent to worldly materials and lays not his eyes on another's wife or property;
ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪੂਜ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੈ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਵੈ ।
gurasikh gurasikh pooj kai bhaae bhagat bhai bhaanaa bhaavai |
Who loves another Sikh and embraces the love, devotion, and fear of God;
ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਨ ਆਪੁ ਗਣਾਵੈ ।੧੨।
aap gavaae na aap ganaavai |12|
He effaces his ego and does not assert himself.
