ਅਮਲੀ ਅਮਲੁ ਨ ਛਡਨੀ ਹੁਇ ਬਹਨਿ ਇਕਠੇ ।

amalee amal na chhaddanee hue behan ikatthe |

Opium-eaters eschew not opium and sit down together to eat it.

ਜਿਉ ਜੂਏ ਜੂਆਰੀਆ ਲਗਿ ਦਾਵ ਉਪਠੇ ।

jiau jooe jooaareea lag daav upatthe |

Gamblers indulge in play and lose their stakes.

ਚੋਰੀ ਚੋਰ ਨ ਪਲਰਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਨਿ ਗਰਠੇ ।

choree chor na palareh dukh sehan garatthe |

Thieves do not abandon thieving and suffer punishment when caught.

ਰਹਨਿ ਨ ਗਣਿਕਾ ਵਾੜਿਅਹੁ ਵੇਕਰਮੀ ਲਠੇ ।

rehan na ganikaa vaarriahu vekaramee latthe |

The evil-doers do not remain away from the house of the ill-repute women though they sell off even their clothes to provide for them.

ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਪੁ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਹੋਇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਨਠੇ ।

paapee paap kamaavade hoe firade natthe |

Sinners commit sin anu abscond to avoid punishment.

ਪੀਰ ਮੁਰੀਦਾ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਪਣਠੇ ।੨।

peer mureedaa piraharree sabh paap panatthe |2|

But, contrary to all these, the Sikhs of the Guru, (whose companionship is far from being injurious) love their Guru, and he absolves them of all their sins.
