ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ॥

braham giaanee niramal te niramalaa |

The God-conscious being is the purest of the pure;

ਜੈਸੇ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਲਾ ॥

jaise mail na laagai jalaa |

filth does not stick to water.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥

braham giaanee kai man hoe pragaas |

The God-conscious being's mind is enlightened,

ਜੈਸੇ ਧਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥

jaise dhar aoopar aakaas |

like the sky above the earth.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥

braham giaanee kai mitr satru samaan |

To the God-conscious being, friend and foe are the same.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ॥

braham giaanee kai naahee abhimaan |

The God-conscious being has no egotistical pride.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ॥

braham giaanee aooch te aoochaa |

The God-conscious being is the highest of the high.

ਮਨਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਨੀਚਾ ॥

man apanai hai sabh te neechaa |

Within his own mind, he is the most humble of all.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਭਏ ॥

braham giaanee se jan bhe |

They alone become God-conscious beings,

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੨॥

naanak jin prabh aap karee |2|

O Nanak, whom God Himself makes so. ||2||
