ਜੈਸੇ ਲਗ ਮਾਤ੍ਰਹੀਨ ਪੜਤ ਅਉਰ ਕਉ ਅਉਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਪੂਤ ਪੂਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਜਾਨੀਐ ।

jaise lag maatraheen parrat aaur kau aaur pitaa poot poot pitaa samasar jaaneeai |

Just as a word devoid of vowel symbol would sound different, word 'pita' and 'putt' would be read alike.

ਸੁਰਤਿ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਵਰੋ ਬਖਾਨੀਅਤ ਅਉਰ ਕਹੇ ਅਉਰ ਕਛੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਮੈ ਆਨੀਐ ।

surat bihoon jaise baavaro bakhaaneeat aaur kahe aaur kachhe hiradai mai aaneeai |

Just as a person is called demented when not in his full senses, he understands different than what is being said.

ਜੈਸੇ ਗੁੰਗ ਸਭਾ ਮਧਿ ਕਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਤ ਬਾਤ ਬੋਲਤ ਹਸਾਇ ਹੋਇ ਬਚਨ ਬਿਧਾਨੀਐ ।

jaise gung sabhaa madh keh na sakat baat bolat hasaae hoe bachan bidhaaneeai |

Just as a mute person cannot express himself in any gathering, even if he tries to utter a word, he becomes a laughing stock for all,

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਾਰਗ ਮੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਥਕਤ ਹੁਇ ਲਗਨ ਸਗਨ ਮਾਨੇ ਕੈਸੇ ਮਾਨੀਐ ।੨੬੪।

guramukh maarag mai manamukh thakat hue lagan sagan maane kaise maaneeai |264|

No self-oriented or self-willed person can tread the path of Guru-conscious persons. How can one feel persuaded to tread the path of Guru-conscious people when one is bound by the omens-good or bad. (264)
