ਖੜਗੇਸ ਬਲੀ ਕਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਭਨੈ ਸਭ ਭੂਪਨ ਬਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ਕਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥

kharrages balee kahu raam bhanai sabh bhoopan baan prahaar kario hai |

ਠਾਢੋ ਰਹਿਓ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਭੂ ਪਰ ਮੇਰੁ ਸੋ ਆਹਵ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਨੈਕੁ ਡਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥

tthaadto rahio drirr bhoo par mer so aahav te nahee naik ddario hai |

All the kings struck their blows on the mighty warrior Kharag Singh with their arrows, but he remained firm in the battlefield like a mountain without fear

ਕੋਪ ਸਿਉ ਓਪ ਬਢੀ ਤਿਹ ਆਨਨ ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਕਬਿ ਭਾਉ ਧਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥

kop siau op badtee tih aanan taa chhab ko kab bhaau dhario hai |

ਰੋਸਿ ਕੀ ਆਗ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਭਈ ਸਰ ਪੁੰਜ ਛੁਟੇ ਮਾਨੋ ਘੀਉ ਪਰਿਓ ਹੈ ॥੧੪੦੪॥

ros kee aag prachandd bhee sar punj chhutte maano gheeo pario hai |1404|

The anger seemed greatly increased on his face and in the powerful fire of his anger, these arrows worked like ghee.1404.

ਜੋ ਦਲ ਹੋ ਹਰਿ ਬੀਰਨਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਸੋ ਤੋ ਕਛੂ ਅਰਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਲਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

jo dal ho har beeran ke sang so to kachhoo ar maar layo hai |

Krishna’ s force of warriors that was there, some of the warriors from it were knocked down by the enemy

ਫੇਰਿ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਮੈ ਰੁਪ ਕੈ ਅਸਿ ਲੈ ਜੀਯ ਮੈ ਪੁਨਿ ਕੋਪੁ ਭਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

fer ayodhan mai rup kai as lai jeey mai pun kop bhayo hai |

He stood furiously again in the field, taking his sword in his hand

ਮਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰ ਦਯੋ ਘਟ ਗਯੋ ਦਲ ਸੋ ਕਬਿ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਭਾਉ ਨਯੋ ਹੈ ॥

maar bidaar dayo ghatt gayo dal so kab ke man bhaau nayo hai |

ਮਾਨਹੁ ਸੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਲੈ ਕੋ ਚੜਿਯੋ ਜਲੁ ਸਾਗਰ ਕੋ ਸਬ ਸੂਕਿ ਗਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੧੪੦੫॥

maanahu soor pralai ko charriyo jal saagar ko sab sook gayo hai |1405|

By killing the enemy’s army, he decreased it like waters of the ocean dried up by the blazing sun on doomsday.1405.

ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਭੁਜ ਕਾਟਿ ਦਈ ਫਿਰ ਕੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਕਾਟਿ ਦਏ ॥

prathame tin kee bhuj kaatt dee fir kai tin ke sir kaatt de |

In the first place, he chopped the arms of the warriors and then their heads

ਰਥ ਬਾਜਨ ਸੂਤ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਬੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਰਨ ਬੀਚ ਛਏ ॥

rath baajan soot samet sabai kab sayaam kahai ran beech chhe |

The chariots alongwith the horses and the charioteers were destroyed in the battlefield

ਜਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੁਖ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਆਯੁ ਕਟੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਲੁਥ ਜੰਬੁਕ ਗੀਧ ਖਏ ॥

jin kee sukh ke sang aay kattee tin kee luth janbuk geedh khe |

Those who has passed their life in comfort, their corpses were being eaten by the jackals and vultures

ਜਿਨ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਘਨੇ ਰਨ ਮਾਝਿ ਹਨੇ ਸੋਊ ਸੰਘਰ ਮੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਭਏ ॥੧੪੦੬॥

jin satr ghane ran maajh hane soaoo sanghar mai bin praan bhe |1406|

Those warriors who had destroyed the enemy in a dreadrul war, they now became lifeless in the battlefield.1406.

ਦ੍ਵਾਦਸ ਭੂਪਨ ਕੋ ਹਨਿ ਕੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਛਾਜਿਯੋ ॥

dvaadas bhoopan ko han kai kab sayaam kahai ran mai nrip chhaajiyo |

ਮਾਨਹੁ ਦੂਰ ਘਨੋ ਤਮੁ ਕੈ ਦਿਨ ਆਧਿਕ ਮੈ ਦਿਵਰਾਜ ਬਿਰਾਜਿਯੋ ॥

maanahu door ghano tam kai din aadhik mai divaraaj biraajiyo |

After killing the twelve kings, the king Kharag Singh looks splendid like the sun in distant darkness

ਗਾਜਤ ਹੈ ਖੜਗੇਸ ਬਲੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਜਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਘਨ ਸਾਵਨ ਲਾਜਿਯੋ ॥

gaajat hai kharrages balee dhun jaa sun kai ghan saavan laajiyo |

The clouds of Sawan are feeling shy on listening to the thundering of Kharag Singh

ਕਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਲੈ ਜਿਉ ਕਿਰਾਰਨ ਤੇ ਬਢਿ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਨੀਰਧ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਗਾਜਿਯੋ ॥੧੪੦੭॥

kaal pralai jiau kiraaran te badt maanahu neeradh kop kai gaajiyo |1407|

It seems that over brimming its coasts, the ocean was thundering on the doomsday.1407.

ਅਉਰ ਕਿਤੀ ਜਦੁਬੀਰ ਚਮੂੰ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਇਉ ਪੁਰਖਤਿ ਦਿਖਾਇ ਭਜਾਈ ॥

aaur kitee jadubeer chamoon nrip iau purakhat dikhaae bhajaaee |

The king, exhibiting his bravery, caused much of the Yadava army to run away

ਅਉਰ ਜਿਤੇ ਭਟ ਆਇ ਭਿਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਨ ਕੀ ਸਬ ਆਸ ਚੁਕਾਈ ॥

aaur jite bhatt aae bhire tin praanan kee sab aas chukaaee |

The warriors who came to fight with him, they lost the hope of their survival

ਲੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਅਸਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਨੇ ਜਿਨ ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ਆਇ ਕੈ ਕੀਨੀ ਲਰਾਈ ॥

lai kar mai as sayaam bhane jin dhaae kai aae kai keenee laraaee |

ਅੰਤ ਕੋ ਅੰਤ ਕੇ ਧਾਮਿ ਗਏ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਹਕ ਆਪਨੀ ਦੇਹ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੧੪੦੮॥

ant ko ant ke dhaam ge tin naahak aapanee deh gavaaee |1408|

The poet says that anyone who fought, taking his sword in his hand, he entered the abode of death and he lost his body uselessly.1408.

ਬਹੁਰੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਰਿਸ ਕੈ ਦਸ ਸੈ ਗਜ ਐਤ ਤੁਰੰਗ ਚਮੂੰ ਹਨਿ ਡਾਰੀ ॥

bahuro ran mai ris kai das sai gaj ait turang chamoon han ddaaree |

Getting infuriated again, he killed a thousand elephant and horseriders

ਦੁਇ ਸਤਿ ਸਿਯੰਦਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਦਏ ਬਹੁ ਬੀਰ ਹਨੇ ਬਲੁ ਕੈ ਅਸਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥

due sat siyandan kaatt de bahu beer hane bal kai as dhaaree |

He chopped two hundred chariots and killed many sword-wielding warriors

ਬੀਸ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਪਦਾਤ ਹਨੇ ਦ੍ਰੁਮ ਸੇ ਗਿਰ ਹੈ ਰਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਮੰਝਾਰੀ ॥

bees hazaar padaat hane drum se gir hai ran bhoom manjhaaree |

He killed twenty thousand soldiers on foot, who fell down in the battlefield like tree

ਮਾਨੋ ਹਨੂੰ ਰਿਸਿ ਰਾਵਨ ਬਾਗ ਕੀ ਮੂਲ ਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਜਰ ਮੇਖ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥੧੪੦੯॥

maano hanoo ris raavan baag kee mool hoon te jar mekh uchaaree |1409|

This spectacle appeared lie the uprooted garden of Ravana by enraged Hanumar.1409.

ਰਾਛਸ ਅਭ ਹੁਤੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਦਿਸਿ ਸੋ ਬਲੁ ਕੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਊਪਰ ਧਾਯੋ ॥

raachhas abh huto har kee dis so bal kai nrip aoopar dhaayo |

One demon named Abhar was on the side of Krishna

ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਸਬੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਚਪਲਾ ਸਮ ਲੈ ਅਸਿ ਕੋਪ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥

sasatr sanbhaar sabai apune chapalaa sam lai as kop badtaayo |

He fell upon Kharag Singh with full Strength

ਗਾਜਤ ਹੀ ਬਰਖਿਯੋ ਬਰਖਾ ਸਰ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਬੀਸਰ ਯੋ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਯੋ ॥

gaajat hee barakhiyo barakhaa sar sayaam kabeesar yo gun gaayo |

ਮਾਨਹੁ ਗੋਪਨ ਕੇ ਗਨ ਪੈ ਅਤਿ ਕੋਪ ਕੀਏ ਮਘਵਾ ਚਢਿ ਆਯੋ ॥੧੪੧੦॥

maanahu gopan ke gan pai at kop kee maghavaa chadt aayo |1410|

Holding his weapons he took his lightning-like sword in his hand and thundering in fury he showered arrows like Indra in rage on a gathering of gops.1410.

ਦੈਤ ਚਮੂੰ ਘਨ ਜਿਉ ਉਮਡੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਹੂੰ ਡਰੁ ਕੀਨੋ ॥

dait chamoon ghan jiau umaddee man mai na kachhoo nrip hoon ddar keeno |

The demon-forces rushed forward like clouds, but the king was not frightened even slightly

ਕੋਪ ਬਢਾਇ ਘਨੋ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਧਨੁ ਬਾਨ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਭਲੇ ਕਰ ਲੀਨੋ ॥

kop badtaae ghano chit mai dhan baan sanbhaar bhale kar leeno |

He caught hold of his bow and arrows in his hands, being greatly enraged in his mind

ਖੈਚ ਕੈ ਕਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਸੁ ਛੇਦ ਹ੍ਰਿਦਾ ਸਰ ਸੋ ਅਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ॥

khaich kai kaan pramaan kamaan su chhed hridaa sar so ar deeno |

ਮਾਨਹੁ ਬਾਬੀ ਮੈ ਸਾਪ ਧਸਿਓ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਜਸੁ ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੋ ਇਮਿ ਚੀਨੋ ॥੧੪੧੧॥

maanahu baabee mai saap dhasio kab ne jas taa chhab ko im cheeno |1411|

Pulling his bow upto his ear, he pierced the heart of the enemy like a snake entering his hole.1411.

ਬਾਨਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਰਾਮ ਭਨੇ ਅਸਿ ਸੋ ਪੁਨਿ ਮਾਰਿਓ ॥

baanan sang su maar kai satran raam bhane as so pun maario |

After killing the enemy with his arrows, he made killing with his sword

ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਸਮੂਹ ਪਰਿਓ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਧਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਭੂ ਪਰ ਡਾਰਿਓ ॥

sraun samooh pario tih te dhar praan binaa kar bhoo par ddaario |

Because of the war, the blood began to flow on the earth and making the bodies lifeless, he knocked them down on the ground

ਤਾ ਛਬਿ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਲਖਿ ਕੈ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਮੁਖਿ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਓ ॥

taa chhab kee upamaa lakh kai kab ne mukh te ih bhaat uchaario |

ਖਗ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਨਹੁ ਲੈ ਕਰ ਮੈ ਜਮ ਦੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਿਓ ॥੧੪੧੨॥

khag lagiyo tih ko nahee maanahu lai kar mai jam dandd prahaario |1412|

The poet describing this spectacle says that it appears that they had not been hit by the sword and instead, they had been knocked down on account of the punishment of Yama.1412.

ਰਾਛਸ ਮਾਰਿ ਲਯੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਤਬ ਰਾਛਸ ਕੋ ਰਿਸ ਕੈ ਦਲੁ ਧਾਯੋ ॥

raachhas maar layo jab hee tab raachhas ko ris kai dal dhaayo |

When this demon was killed, then the army of demons in their fury, fell upon him

ਆਵਤ ਹੀ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਬਿਬਿਧਾਯੁਧ ਲੈ ਅਤਿ ਜੁਧੁ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥

aavat hee kab sayaam kahai bibidhaayudh lai at judh machaayo |

On their arrival, he began the war with different kinds of weapons

ਦੈਤ ਘਨੇ ਤਹ ਘਾਇਲ ਹੈ ਬਹੁ ਘਾਇਨ ਸੋ ਖੜਗੇਸਹਿ ਘਾਯੋ ॥

dait ghane teh ghaaeil hai bahu ghaaein so kharrageseh ghaayo |

Many of the demons were wounded at that place and Kharag Singh also received many wounds

ਸੋ ਸਹਿ ਕੈ ਅਸਿ ਕੋ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਜੁਧ ਕੀਯੋ ਨਹੀ ਘਾਉ ਜਤਾਯੋ ॥੧੪੧੩॥

so seh kai as ko geh kai nrip judh keeyo nahee ghaau jataayo |1413|

Enduring the agony of the wounds, the king fought and did not expose his wounds.1413.

ਧਾਇ ਪਰੇ ਸਬ ਰਾਛਸਿ ਯਾ ਪਰ ਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਪੁ ਬਢਿਓ ॥

dhaae pare sab raachhas yaa par hai tin kai man kop badtio |

All the demons fell upon him with increased anger

ਗਹਿ ਬਾਨ ਕਮਾਨ ਗਦਾ ਬਰਛੀ ਤਿਨ ਮਿਆਨਹੁ ਤੇ ਕਰਵਾਰ ਕਢਿਓ ॥

geh baan kamaan gadaa barachhee tin miaanahu te karavaar kadtio |

Taking up their bows, arrows, maces, daggers etc., they also drew out their swords from the scabbards

ਸਬ ਦਾਨਵ ਤੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਕੀਯੋ ਰਿਸ ਪਾਵਕ ਮੈ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਗ ਡਢਿਓ ॥

sab daanav tej prachandd keeyo ris paavak mai tin ang ddadtio |

In the fire of ire, their life-energy increased and their limbs god instigated

ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਤ ਹੈ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਉ ਤਨ ਕੰਚਨ ਮਾਨੋ ਸੁਨਾਰ ਗਢਿਓ ॥੧੪੧੪॥

eih bhaat prahaarat hai nrip kau tan kanchan maano sunaar gadtio |1414|

They were striking their blows on the king like a goldsmith fashionable a body of gold.1414.

ਜਿਨ ਹੂੰ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੁਧ ਕੀਯੋ ਸੁ ਸਬੈ ਇਨ ਹੂੰ ਹਤਿ ਕੈ ਤਬ ਦੀਨੇ ॥

jin hoon nrip ke sang judh keeyo su sabai in hoon hat kai tab deene |

ਅਉਰ ਜਿਤੇ ਅਰਿ ਜੀਤ ਬਚੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਬਧ ਕਉ ਕਰਿ ਆਯੁਧ ਲੀਨੇ ॥

aaur jite ar jeet bachai tin ke badh kau kar aayudh leene |

All those who fought with the king were killed and in order to kill the remaining enemies, he caught hold of his weapons in his hands

ਤਉ ਇਨ ਭੂਪ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਲੈ ਕੀਏ ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਮੁੰਡਨ ਹੀਨੇ ॥

tau in bhoop saraasan lai kee satran ke tan munddan heene |

ਜੋ ਨ ਡਰੇ ਸੁ ਲਰੇ ਪੁਨਿ ਧਾਇ ਨਿਦਾਨ ਵਹੀ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਖੰਡਨ ਕੀਨੇ ॥੧੪੧੫॥

jo na ddare su lare pun dhaae nidaan vahee nrip khanddan keene |1415|

Taking his bow and arrows in his hands, the kings made their bodies headless and those who still persisted to fight with him, were all destroyed.1415.

ਬੀਰ ਬਡੋ ਇਕ ਦੈਤ ਹੁਤੋ ਤਿਨਿ ਕੋਪ ਕੀਯੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ॥

beer baddo ik dait huto tin kop keeyo at hee man mai |

There was one very big demon warrior, who is extreme anger discharged many arrows on the king

ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸੋ ਭੂਪ ਕਉ ਬਾਨ ਹਨੇ ਸਬ ਫੋਕਨ ਲਉ ਗਡਗੇ ਤਨ ਮੈ ॥

eih bhaat so bhoop kau baan hane sab fokan lau gaddage tan mai |

These arrows penetrated into the body of the king till the final end

ਤਬ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਸਾਗ ਹਨੀ ਰਿਪੁ ਕੋ ਧਸ ਗੀ ਉਰਿ ਜਿਉ ਚਪਲਾ ਘਨ ਮੈ ॥

tab bhoopat saag hanee rip ko dhas gee ur jiau chapalaa ghan mai |

Then the king, in great rage, struck his lance on the enemy, which penetrated into his body like lightning

ਸੁ ਮਨੋ ਉਰਗੇਸ ਖਗੇਸ ਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਤੇ ਧਾਇ ਕੈ ਜਾਇ ਦੁਰਿਓ ਬਨ ਮੈ ॥੧੪੧੬॥

su mano urages khages ke traas te dhaae kai jaae durio ban mai |1416|

It appeared that on account of the fear of Garuda, the king of the serpents came to hide himself in the forest.1416.

ਲਾਗਤ ਸਾਗ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਜੇ ਤਿਹ ਅਉਰ ਹੁਤੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਅਸਿ ਝਾਰਿਓ ॥

laagat saag kai praan taje tih aaur huto tih ko as jhaario |

ਕੋਪ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਮੈ ਖੜਗੇਸ ਕਹੈ ਕਬਿ ਰਾਮ ਮਹਾ ਬਲ ਧਾਰਿਓ ॥

kop ayodhan mai kharrages kahai kab raam mahaa bal dhaario |

He breathed his last, when he was hit by the lance and the king Kharag Singh, in great fury, struck his blows on others with his sword

ਰਾਛਸ ਤੀਸ ਰਹੋ ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਠਉਰ ਸੰਘਾਰਿਓ ॥

raachhas tees raho tih tthaa tih ko tab hee tih tthaur sanghaario |

He killed the thirty demons at the place, where they were standing in the battlefield

ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਮਘਵਾ ਮਨੋ ਬਜ੍ਰ ਭਏ ਨਗੁ ਮਾਰਿਓ ॥੧੪੧੭॥

praan binaa ih bhaat pario maghavaa mano bajr bhe nag maario |1417|

They were standing lifeless like the dead mountains hit by the Vajra of Indra.1417.
