ਅਥ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਕਥਨੰ ॥

ath narasingh avataar kathanan |

Now begins the description of Narsingh Incarnation:

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਜੀ ਸਹਾਇ ॥

sree bhgautee jee sahaae |

Let Shri Bhagauti Ji (The Primal Lord) be helpful.

ਪਾਧਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥

PADHRI STANZA

ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੀਯੋ ਦਿਵਰਾਜ ਰਾਜ ॥

eih bhaat keeyo divaraaj raaj |

ਭੰਡਾਰ ਭਰੇ ਸੁਭ ਸਰਬ ਸਾਜ ॥

bhanddaar bhare subh sarab saaj |

In this way, Indra, the king of gods ruled and filled the granaries of materials through all modes

ਜਬ ਦੇਵਤਾਨ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਗਰੂਰ ॥

jab devataan badtiyo garoor |

ਬਲਵੰਤ ਦੈਤ ਉਠੇ ਕਰੂਰ ॥੧॥

balavant dait utthe karoor |1|

When the pride of the gods grew enormously, then in order toshelve their pride, the hard-hearted mighty demons rose again.1.

ਲਿਨੋ ਛਿਨਾਇ ਦਿਵਰਾਜ ਰਾਜ ॥

lino chhinaae divaraaj raaj |

ਬਾਜਿਤ੍ਰ ਨੇਕ ਉਠੇ ਸੁ ਬਾਜਿ ॥

baajitr nek utthe su baaj |

The kingdom of Indra was seized and this proclamation was made on all sides with the accompaniment of many musical instruments,

ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਜਗਤਿ ਦੋਹੀ ਫਿਰਾਇ ॥

eih bhaat jagat dohee firaae |

ਜਲੰ ਬਾ ਥਲੇਅੰ ਹਿਰਿਨਾਛ ਰਾਇ ॥੨॥

jalan baa thalean hirinaachh raae |2|

That Hiranayakashipu is the emperor at all the places.2.

ਇਕ ਦ︀ਯੋਸ ਗਯੋ ਨਿਜ ਨਾਰਿ ਤੀਰ ॥

eik dayos gayo nij naar teer |

ਸਜਿ ਸੁਧ ਸਾਜ ਨਿਜ ਅੰਗਿ ਬੀਰ ॥

saj sudh saaj nij ang beer |

One day, this mighty ruler, bedecking himself, went to his wife,

ਕਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਸ੍ਵਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਮੋ ਭਯੋ ਨਿਰੁਕਤ ॥

kih bhaat svatriy mo bhayo nirukat |

ਤਬ ਭਯੋ ਦੁਸਟ ਕੋ ਬੀਰਜ ਮੁਕਤ ॥੩॥

tab bhayo dusatt ko beeraj mukat |3|

And absorbed himself with her so intensely that at the time of his intercourse, his semen was discharged.3.

ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਭਗਤ ਲੀਨੋ ਵਤਾਰ ॥

prahalaad bhagat leeno vataar |

ਸਬ ਕਰਨਿ ਕਾਜ ਸੰਤਨ ਉਧਾਰ ॥

sab karan kaaj santan udhaar |

From that semen Prahlad was born in order to help nad protect the saints.

ਚਟਸਾਰ ਪੜਨਿ ਸਉਪ︀ਯੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਿ ॥

chattasaar parran saupayo nripaal |

ਪਟੀਯਹਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਲਿਖਿ ਦੈ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥੪॥

patteeyeh kahiyo likh dai gupaal |4|

When the king sent him to school for education, he asked his teacher to write the Name of Lord-God on his tablet.4.
