ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਦੇਵ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥

chandr dev jab hee svai jaavai |

ਤਬ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਜਾਰ ਪਾਸ ਉਠਿ ਆਵੈ ॥

tab triy jaar paas utth aavai |

As soon as Chandra Dev went to sleep, she would go to her lover.

ਕੇਲ ਕਮਾਇ ਰਹਤ ਤਹ ਜਾਈ ॥

kel kamaae rehat teh jaaee |

ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਸੋਇ ਰਹਤ ਲਪਟਾਈ ॥੨॥

ਚਿਤ ਰਾਖਿਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਬਖਾਨ︀ਯੋ ॥

chit raakhiyo neh pragatt bakhaanayo |

The Raja, on awakening, discovered this secret.

ਚਿਤ ਚੌਗਨੋ ਨੇਹੁ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥

chit chauagano nehu badtaayo |

ਮੂਰਖ ਨਾਰਿ ਭੇਦ ਨਹਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੩॥

ਆਂਖਿ ਮੂੰਦਿ ਜਾਗਤ ਸ੍ਵੈ ਰਹਿਯੋ ॥

aankh moond jaagat svai rahiyo |

ਭੌਂਦੂ ਨਾਰਿ ਸੋਤ ਸੋ ਲਹਿਯੋ ॥

bhauandoo naar sot so lahiyo |

Although awoke, he kept his eyes shut, and the foolish lady thought him asleep.

ਤੁਰਤ ਜਾਰ ਕੇ ਤਟ ਚਲਿ ਗਈ ॥

turat jaar ke tatt chal gee |

ਉਠਿ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਗਹ ਲਈ ॥੪॥

autth nrip kar kripaan geh lee |4|

Immediately she departed for her friend, the Raja got up and drew out his sword.(4)
