ਜਾਤੈ ਇਹੈ ਬਚਨ ਤਿਨ ਕਹਿਯੋ ॥

jaatai ihai bachan tin kahiyo |

ਮਾਧਵ ਖੇਤ ਹੇਤ ਤਵ ਰਹਿਯੋ ॥

maadhav khet het tav rahiyo |

Raja (Bikrim) told her that Madhwan had died in the war.

ਸੁਨਤ ਬਚਨ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਮਰਿ ਗਈ ॥

sunat bachan tab hee mar gee |

ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਲੈ ਇਹੈ ਖਬਰਿ ਦਿਜ ਦਈ ॥੬੨॥

nrip lai ihai khabar dij dee |62|

Hearing the news she immediately breathed her last and then Raja went to give the news to Brahmin.(62)

ਯਹ ਬਚ ਜਬ ਸ੍ਰੋਨਨ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੀਨੋ ॥

yeh bach jab sronan sun leeno |

ਪਲਕ ਏਕ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਹਿ ਦੀਨੋ ॥

palak ek meh praaneh deeno |

When he (Brahmin) heard this news through his own ears, he, instantly, expired.

ਜਬ ਕੌਤਕ ਇਹ ਰਾਇ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

jab kauatak ih raae nihaariyo |

ਜਰਨ ਮਰਨ ਕਾ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੬੩॥

jaran maran kaa nigrah dhaariyo |63|

When Raja witnessed this, he decided to immolate himself as well.(63)

ਚਿਤਾ ਜਰਾਇ ਜਰਨ ਜਬ ਲਾਗ︀ਯੋ ॥

chitaa jaraae jaran jab laagayo |

ਤਬ ਬੈਤਾਲ ਤਹਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਗ︀ਯੋ ॥

tab baitaal tahaa te jaagayo |

When the flaming pyre was ready, suddenly Betaal, (his court poet) appeared.

ਸੰਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਤਿਹ ਦੁਹੂੰਨ ਜਿਯਾਯੋ ॥

sanch amrit tih duhoon jiyaayo |

ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕੇ ਚਿਤ ਕੋ ਤਾਪੁ ਮਿਟਾਯੋ ॥੬੪॥

nrip ke chit ko taap mittaayo |64|

He sprinkled the nectar over the bodies of both of them, made them alive again and eliminated Raja’s affliction.(64)
