ਆਇਸ ਪਾਇ ਪਿਤਾ ਤੇ ਦੋਊ ਧਨੁ ਸੀਖਨ ਕੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਾਜ ਚਲੇ ॥
aaeis paae pitaa te doaoo dhan seekhan kee bidh kaaj chale |
After getting the permission of their father regarding the learning of archery, both the brothers (Krishna and Balram) started (for their destination)
ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਮੁਖਿ ਕੀ ਸਮ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਜੋਊ ਬੀਰਨ ਤੇ ਬਰਬੀਰ ਭਲੇ ॥
jin ke mukh kee sam chandr prabhaa joaoo beeran te barabeer bhale |
Their faces are beautiful like moon and both are great heroes
ਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ਸੰਦੀਪਨ ਕੇ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਥੋਰਨਿ ਮੈ ਭਏ ਜਾਇ ਖਲੇ ॥
gur paas sandeepan ke tab hee din thoran mai bhe jaae khale |
After a few days, they reached the place of the sage Sandipan
ਜਿਨਹੂੰ ਕੁਪਿ ਕੈ ਮੁਰ ਨਾਮ ਮਰਯੋ ਜਿਨ ਹੂੰ ਛਲ ਸੋ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਜ ਛਲੇ ॥੮੮੫॥
jinahoon kup kai mur naam marayo jin hoon chhal so bal raaj chhale |885|
They are the same, who, in great fury, killed the demon named Mur and deceived the king Bali.885.
ਚਉਸਠ ਦਿਵਸ ਮੈ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਤੇ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੀਖ ਸੁ ਲੀਨੀ ॥
chausatth divas mai sayaam kahai sabh hee tih te bidh seekh su leenee |
The poet Shyam says that they learnt all the sciences in sixty-four days
ਪੈਸਠਵੇ ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਭੇ ਗੁਰ ਸੋ ਉਠ ਕੈ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਇਹ ਕੀਨੀ ॥

On the sixty-fifth day they went in front of their guru and request him (to accept a religious gift)
ਤਉ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਛਿ ਕਿਧੌ ਤ੍ਰੀਯ ਤੇ ਸੁਤ ਹੂੰ ਕੀ ਸੁ ਬਾਤ ਪੈ ਮਾਗਿ ਕੈ ਲੀਨੀ ॥
tau gur poochh kidhau treey te sut hoon kee su baat pai maag kai leenee |
The Guru after talking with his Wife asked them to bestow life to the dead son
ਸੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਸ੍ਰਉਨਨ ਬੀਚ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਜੋਊ ਵਾਹਿ ਕਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਸੋਈ ਦੀਨੀ ॥੮੮੬॥
so sun sraunan beech duhoon joaoo vaeh kahee tih ko soee deenee |886|
Both the brothers heard the words of the sage and aggreed to give the desired present.886.
ਬੀਰ ਬਡੇ ਰਥਿ ਬੈਠਿ ਦੋਊ ਚਲਿ ਕੈ ਤਟਿ ਸੋ ਨਦੀਆ ਪਤਿ ਆਏ ॥

Both the brothers mounted on their chariot ant came to the coast of the sea
ਤਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਰੂਪੁ ਨਿਹਾਰਤ ਹੀ ਬਚਨਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਇ ਸੁਨਾਏ ॥
taahee ko roop nihaarat hee bachanaa tin sees jhukaae sunaae |
Seeing the sea, they bowed their heads and told the sea about the object of their arrival
ਏਕ ਬਲੀ ਇਹ ਬੀਚ ਰਹੈ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਤ ਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਹੂੰ ਕਿ ਚੁਰਾਏ ॥
ek balee ih beech rahai nahee jaanat hai tin hoon ki churaae |
The sea said, “A mighty one lives here, but I do not know whether he is the one who has kidnapped the son of your Guru
ਸੋ ਸੁਨਿ ਬੀਚ ਧਸੇ ਜਲ ਕੇ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਖ ਬਜਾਏ ॥੮੮੭॥
so sun beech dhase jal ke kar kop duhoon mil sankh bajaae |887|
” Hearing this, both the brothers, blowing their conches enter the waters.887.
ਬੀਚ ਧਸੇ ਜਲ ਕੇ ਜਬ ਹੀ ਇਕ ਰੂਪ ਭਯਾਨਕ ਦੈਤ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
beech dhase jal ke jab hee ik roop bhayaanak dait nihaariyo |
Just on entering the water, they saw a demon of dreadful form
ਦੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਕੋਪ ਭਰੇ ਗਹਿ ਆਯੁਧ ਪਾਨਿ ਘਨੋ ਰਨ ਪਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
dekhat hee tih kop bhare geh aayudh paan ghano ran paariyo |
Seeing him, Krishna held his weapon in his hand and began a terrible fight
ਜੁਧ ਭਯੋ ਦਿਨ ਬੀਸ ਤਹਾ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਪੈ ਕਬਿ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
judh bhayo din bees tahaa tih ko jas pai kab sayaam uchaariyo |
According to the poet Shyam, this battle continued for twenty days
ਜਿਉ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਰਾਜ ਮਰੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਕੋ ਤਿਮ ਸੋ ਕੁਪਿ ਕੈ ਜਦੁਬੀਰਿ ਪਛਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੮੮੮॥
jiau mrigaraaj marai mrig ko tim so kup kai jadubeer pachhaariyo |888|
Just as a lion kills the deer, in the same manner Krishna, the king of Yadavas, knocked down that demon.888.
