ਪਥਰੁ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਭਿਜਈ ਸਉ ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਲਿ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਸੈ ।

pathar mool na bhijee sau varhiaa jal andar vasai |

Even after remaining in water for a hundred years the stone would not get wet at all.

ਪਥਰ ਖੇਤੁ ਨ ਜੰਮਈ ਚਾਰਿ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਇੰਦਰੁ ਵਰਸੈ ।

pathar khet na jamee chaar maheene indar varasai |

It may rain for four months continuously, but a stone would not sprout in the field.

ਪਥਰਿ ਚੰਨਣੁ ਰਗੜੀਏ ਚੰਨਣ ਵਾਂਗਿ ਨ ਪਥਰੁ ਘਸੈ ।

pathar chanan ragarree chanan vaang na pathar ghasai |

A stone grinding sandal, never gets worn off like sandal.

ਸਿਲ ਵਟੇ ਨਿਤ ਪੀਸਦੇ ਰਸ ਕਸ ਜਾਣੇ ਵਾਸੁ ਨ ਰਸੈ ।

sil vatte nit peesade ras kas jaane vaas na rasai |

Grinding stones always grind the material but never know about the taste and virtues of the things ground.

ਚਕੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਸਹੰਸ ਵਾਰ ਖਾਇ ਨ ਪੀਐ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਤਸੈ ।

chakee firai sahans vaar khaae na peeai bhukh na tasai |

The grinding stone moves around thousands of times but it never feels hunger or thirst.

ਪਥਰ ਘੜੈ ਵਰਤਣਾ ਹੇਠਿ ਉਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਘੜਾ ਵਿਣਸੈ ।

pathar gharrai varatanaa hetth ute hoe gharraa vinasai |

The relationship between the stone and the pitcher is such that pitcher has to perish whether the stone strikes the pitcher or vice versa.

ਮੂਰਖ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਜਸ ਅਪਜਸੈ ।੬।
