Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਗਰੀਬਾ ਉਪਰਿ ਜਿ ਖਿੰਜੈ ਦਾੜੀ ॥

gareebaa upar ji khinjai daarree |

The bearded emperor who struck down the poor,

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਸਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਸਾੜੀ ॥੧॥

paarabraham saa agan meh saarree |1|

has been burnt in the fire by the Supreme Lord God. ||1||

ਪੂਰਾ ਨਿਆਉ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥

pooraa niaau kare karataar |

The Creator administers true justice.

ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

apune daas kau raakhanahaar |1| rahaau |

He is the Saving Grace of His slaves. ||1||Pause||

ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥

aad jugaad pragatt parataap |

In the beginning, and throughout the ages, His glory is manifest.

ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਮੁਆ ਉਪਜਿ ਵਡ ਤਾਪੁ ॥੨॥

nindak muaa upaj vadd taap |2|

The slanderer died after contracting the deadly fever. ||2||

ਤਿਨਿ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਿ ਰਖੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

tin maariaa ji rakhai na koe |

He is killed, and no one can save him.

ਆਗੈ ਪਾਛੈ ਮੰਦੀ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥

aagai paachhai mandee soe |3|

Here and hereafter, his reputation is evil. ||3||

ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਰਾਖੈ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ॥

apune daas raakhai kantth laae |

The Lord hugs His slaves close in His Embrace.

ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੪॥੯੮॥੧੬੭॥

saran naanak har naam dhiaae |4|98|167|

Nanak seeks the Lord's Sanctuary, and meditates on the Naam. ||4||98||167||
