ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਵੰਞਸੀ ॥
duneea na saalaeh jo mar vanyasee |
Do not praise the world; it shall simply pass away.
ਲੋਕਾ ਨ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਖਾਕੁ ਥੀਈ ॥੧॥
lokaa na saalaeh jo mar khaak theeee |1|
Do not praise other people; they shall die and turn to dust. ||1||
ਵਾਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਵਾਹੁ ॥
vaahu mere saahibaa vaahu |
Waaho! Waaho! Hail, hail to my Lord and Master.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਸਚਾ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
guramukh sadaa salaaheeai sachaa veparavaahu |1| rahaau |
As Gurmukh, forever praise the One who is forever True, Independent and Carefree. ||1||Pause||
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕੇਰੀ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦਝਿ ਮਰੰਨਿ ॥
duneea keree dosatee manamukh dajh maran |
Making worldly friendships, the self-willed manmukhs burn and die.
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਵੇਲਾ ਨ ਲਾਹੰਨਿ ॥੨॥
jam pur badhe maareeeh velaa na laahan |2|
In the City of Death, they are bound and gagged and beaten; this opportunity shall never come again. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਕਾਰਥਾ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਗੰਨਿ ॥
guramukh janam sakaarathaa sachai sabad lagan |
The lives of the Gurmukhs are fruitful and blessed; they are committed to the True Word of the Shabad.
ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਰਹੰਨਿ ॥੩॥
aatam raam pragaasiaa sahaje sukh rahan |3|
Their souls are illuminated by the Lord, and they dwell in peace and pleasure. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਰਚੰਨਿ ॥
gur kaa sabad visaariaa doojai bhaae rachan |
Those who forget the Word of the Guru's Shabad are engrossed in the love of duality.
ਤਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਲਤ ਫਿਰੰਨਿ ॥੪॥
tisanaa bhukh na utarai anadin jalat firan |4|
Their hunger and thirst never leave them, and night and day, they wander around burning. ||4||
ਦੁਸਟਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਨਾਲਿ ਸੰਤਾ ਵੈਰੁ ਕਰੰਨਿ ॥
dusattaa naal dosatee naal santaa vair karan |
Those who make friendships with the wicked, and harbor animosity to the Saints,
ਆਪਿ ਡੁਬੇ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਿਉ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਡੋਬੰਨਿ ॥੫॥
aap ddube kuttanb siau sagale kul ddoban |5|
shall drown with their families, and their entire lineage shall be obliterated. ||5||
ਨਿੰਦਾ ਭਲੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਕੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਕਰੰਨਿ ॥
nindaa bhalee kisai kee naahee manamukh mugadh karan |
It is not good to slander anyone, but the foolish, self-willed manmukhs still do it.
ਮੁਹ ਕਾਲੇ ਤਿਨ ਨਿੰਦਕਾ ਨਰਕੇ ਘੋਰਿ ਪਵੰਨਿ ॥੬॥
muh kaale tin nindakaa narake ghor pavan |6|
The faces of the slanderers turn black, and they fall into the most horrible hell. ||6||
ਏ ਮਨ ਜੈਸਾ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੈਸਾ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
e man jaisaa seveh taisaa hoveh tehe karam kamaae |
O mind, as you serve, so do you become, and so are the deeds that you do.
ਆਪਿ ਬੀਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
aap beej aape hee khaavanaa kahanaa kichhoo na jaae |7|
Whatever you yourself plant, that is what you shall have to eat; nothing else can be said about this. ||7||
ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਕਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਪਰਥਾਇ ॥
mahaa purakhaa kaa bolanaa hovai kitai parathaae |
The speech of the great spiritual beings has a higher purpose.
ਓਇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭਰੇ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹਹਿ ਓਨਾ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥੮॥
oe amrit bhare bharapoor heh onaa til na tamaae |8|
They are filled to over-flowing with Ambrosial Nectar, and they have absolutely no greed at all. ||8||
ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਘਰੈ ਅਵਰਾ ਉਪਦੇਸੇਨਿ ॥
gunakaaree gun sangharai avaraa upadesen |
The virtuous accumulate virtue, and teach others.
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿ ਓਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਏਨਿ ॥੯॥
se vaddabhaagee ji onaa mil rahe anadin naam len |9|
Those who meet with them are so very fortunate; night and day, they chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||9||
ਦੇਸੀ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਮੇਦਨੀ ॥
desee rijak sanbaeh jin upaaee medanee |
He who created the Universe, gives sustenance to it.
ਏਕੋ ਹੈ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਧਣੀ ॥੧੦॥
eko hai daataar sachaa aap dhanee |10|
The One Lord alone is the Great Giver. He Himself is the True Master. ||10||
ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥
so sach terai naal hai guramukh nadar nihaal |
That True Lord is always with you; the Gurmukh is blessed with His Glance of Grace.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧੧॥
aape bakhase mel le so prabh sadaa samaal |11|
He Himself shall forgive you, and merge you into Himself; forever cherish and contemplate God. ||11||
ਮਨੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
man mailaa sach niramalaa kiau kar miliaa jaae |
The mind is impure; only the True Lord is pure. So how can it merge into Him?
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਤਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੧੨॥
prabh mele taa mil rahai haumai sabad jalaae |12|
God merges it into Himself, and then it remains merged; through the Word of His Shabad, the ego is burnt away. ||12||
ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਸਚਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
so sahu sachaa veesarai dhrig jeevan sansaar |
Cursed is the life in this world, of one who forgets her True Husband Lord.
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧੩॥
nadar kare naa veesarai guramatee veechaar |13|
The Lord grants His Mercy, and she does not forget Him, if she contemplates the Guru's Teachings. ||13||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਤਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਾ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਖਾ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
satigur mele taa mil rahaa saach rakhaa ur dhaar |
The True Guru unites her, and so she remains united with Him, with the True Lord enshrined within her heart.
ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਵੀਛੁੜੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧੪॥
miliaa hoe na veechhurrai gur kai het piaar |14|
And so united, she will not be separated again; she remains in the love and affection of the Guru. ||14||
ਪਿਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
pir saalaahee aapanaa gur kai sabad veechaar |
I praise my Husband Lord, contemplating the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੧੫॥
mil preetam sukh paaeaa sobhaavantee naar |15|
Meeting with my Beloved, I have found peace; I am His most beautiful and happy soul-bride. ||15||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਭਿਜਈ ਅਤਿ ਮੈਲੇ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਠੋਰ ॥
manamukh man na bhijee at maile chit katthor |
The mind of the self-willed manmukh is not softened; his consciousness is totally polluted and stone-hearted.
ਸਪੈ ਦੁਧੁ ਪੀਆਈਐ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਿਸੁ ਨਿਕੋਰ ॥੧੬॥
sapai dudh peeaeeai andar vis nikor |16|
Even if the venomous snake is fed on milk, it shall still be filled with poison. ||16||
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
aap kare kis aakheeai aape bakhasanahaar |
He Himself does - who else should I ask? He Himself is the Forgiving Lord.
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਬਣਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥੧੭॥
gurasabadee mail utarai taa sach baniaa seegaar |17|
Through the Guru's Teachings, filth is washed away, and then, one is embellished with the ornament of Truth. ||17||
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਸਚੇ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਓਥੈ ਕੂੜੇ ਨਾ ਟਿਕੰਨਿ ॥
sachaa saahu sache vanajaare othai koorre naa ttikan |
True is the Banker, and True are His traders. The false ones cannot remain there.
ਓਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਨ ਭਾਵਈ ਦੁਖ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਪਚੰਨਿ ॥੧੮॥
onaa sach na bhaavee dukh hee maeh pachan |18|
They do not love the Truth - they are consumed by their pain. ||18||
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲਾ ਜਗੁ ਫਿਰੈ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥
haumai mailaa jag firai mar jamai vaaro vaar |
The world wanders around in the filth of egotism; it dies, and is re-born, over and again.
ਪਇਐ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰ ॥੧੯॥
peiai kirat kamaavanaa koe na mettanahaar |19|
He acts in accordance with the karma of his past actions, which no one can erase. ||19||
ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
santaa sangat mil rahai taa sach lagai piaar |
But if he joins the Society of the Saints, then he comes to embrace love for the Truth.
ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥੨੦॥
sach salaahee sach man dar sachai sachiaar |20|
Praising the True Lord with a truthful mind, he becomes true in the Court of the True Lord. ||20||
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਮਤਿ ਹੈ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
gur poore pooree mat hai ahinis naam dhiaae |
The Teachings of the Perfect Guru are perfect; meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, day and night.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਡ ਰੋਗੁ ਹੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਇ ॥੨੧॥
haumai meraa vadd rog hai vichahu tthaak rahaae |21|
Egotism and self-conceit are terrible diseases; tranquility and stillness come from within. ||21||
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਇ ॥
gur saalaahee aapanaa niv niv laagaa paae |
I praise my Guru; bowing down to Him again and again, I fall at His Feet.
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਉਪੀ ਆਗੈ ਧਰੀ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੨੨॥
tan man saupee aagai dharee vichahu aap gavaae |22|
I place my body and mind in offering unto Him, eradicating self-conceit from within. ||22||
ਖਿੰਚੋਤਾਣਿ ਵਿਗੁਚੀਐ ਏਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
khinchotaan vigucheeai ekas siau liv laae |
Indecision leads to ruin; focus your attention on the One Lord.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਛਡਿ ਤੂ ਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨੩॥
haumai meraa chhadd too taa sach rahai samaae |23|
Renounce egotism and self-conceit, and remain merged in Truth. ||23||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਿ ਭਾਇਰਾ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਗੰਨਿ ॥
satigur no mile si bhaaeiraa sachai sabad lagan |
Those who meet with the True Guru are my Siblings of Destiny; they are committed to the True Word of the Shabad.
ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਦਿਸੰਨਿ ॥੨੪॥
sach mile se na vichhurreh dar sachai disan |24|
Those who merge with the True Lord shall not be separated again; they are judged to be True in the Court of the Lord. ||24||
ਸੇ ਭਾਈ ਸੇ ਸਜਣਾ ਜੋ ਸਚਾ ਸੇਵੰਨਿ ॥
se bhaaee se sajanaa jo sachaa sevan |
They are my Siblings of Destiny, and they are my friends, who serve the True Lord.
ਅਵਗਣ ਵਿਕਣਿ ਪਲੑਰਨਿ ਗੁਣ ਕੀ ਸਾਝ ਕਰੰਨੑਿ ॥੨੫॥
avagan vikan palaran gun kee saajh karana |25|
They sell off their sins and demerits like straw, and enter into the partnership of virtue. ||25||
ਗੁਣ ਕੀ ਸਾਝ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇਨਿ ॥
gun kee saajh sukh aoopajai sachee bhagat karen |
In the partnership of virtue, peace wells up, and they perform true devotional worship service.
ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਹਿ ਗੁਰਸਬਦ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਏਨਿ ॥੨੬॥
sach vananjeh gurasabad siau laahaa naam len |26|
They deal in Truth, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and they earn the profit of the Naam. ||26||
ਸੁਇਨਾ ਰੁਪਾ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਚਲੈ ਨ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
sueinaa rupaa paap kar kar sancheeai chalai na chaladiaa naal |
Gold and silver may be earned by committing sins, but they will not go with you when you die.
ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਚਲਸੀ ਸਭ ਮੁਠੀ ਜਮਕਾਲਿ ॥੨੭॥
vin naavai naal na chalasee sabh mutthee jamakaal |27|
Nothing will go with you in the end, except the Name; all are plundered by the Messenger of Death. ||27||
ਮਨ ਕਾ ਤੋਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਖਹੁ ਸਮੑਾਲਿ ॥
man kaa tosaa har naam hai hiradai rakhahu samaal |
The Lord's Name is the nourishment of the mind; cherish it, and preserve it carefully within your heart.
ਏਹੁ ਖਰਚੁ ਅਖੁਟੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੨੮॥
ehu kharach akhutt hai guramukh nibahai naal |28|
This nourishment is inexhaustible; it is always with the Gurmukhs. ||28||
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੂਲਹੁ ਭੁਲਿਆ ਜਾਸਹਿ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
e man moolahu bhuliaa jaaseh pat gavaae |
O mind, if you forget the Primal Lord, you shall depart, having lost your honor.
ਇਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੨੯॥
eihu jagat mohi doojai viaapiaa guramatee sach dhiaae |29|
This world is engrossed in the love of duality; follow the Guru's Teachings, and meditate on the True Lord. ||29||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਲਿਖਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
har kee keemat naa pavai har jas likhan na jaae |
The Lord's value cannot be estimated; the Lord's Praises cannot be written down.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩੦॥
gur kai sabad man tan rapai har siau rahai samaae |30|
When one's mind and body are attuned to the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one remains merged in the Lord. ||30||
ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਰੰਗੁਲਾ ਰੰਗੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
so sahu meraa rangulaa range sehaj subhaae |
My Husband Lord is playful; He has imbued me with His Love, with natural ease.
ਕਾਮਣਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਤਾ ਚੜੈ ਜਾ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩੧॥
kaaman rang taa charrai jaa pir kai ank samaae |31|
The soul-bride is imbued with His Love, when her Husband Lord merges her into His Being. ||31||
ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੇ ਭੀ ਮਿਲਨਿ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੰਨਿ ॥
chiree vichhune bhee milan jo satigur sevan |
Even those who have been separated for so very long, are reunited with Him, when they serve the True Guru.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਖਾਨਿ ਖਰਚਨਿ ਨ ਨਿਖੁਟਈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਹਜਿ ਰਵੰਨਿ ॥੩੨॥
antar nav nidh naam hai khaan kharachan na nikhuttee har gun sehaj ravan |32|
The nine treasures of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are deep within the nucleus of the self; consuming them, they are still never exhausted. Chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord, with natural ease. ||32||
ਨਾ ਓਇ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਨਾ ਮਰਹਿ ਨਾ ਓਇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹੰਨਿ ॥
naa oe janameh naa mareh naa oe dukh sahan |
They are not born, and they do not die; they do not suffer in pain.
ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੰਨਿ ॥੩੩॥
gur raakhe se ubare har siau kel karan |33|
Those who are protected by the Guru are saved. They celebrate with the Lord. ||33||
ਸਜਣ ਮਿਲੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਜਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਮਿਲੇ ਰਹੰਨਿ ॥
sajan mile na vichhurreh ji anadin mile rahan |
Those who are united with the Lord, the True Friend, are not separated again; night and day, they remain blended with Him.
ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਲਹੰਨਿ ॥੩੪॥੧॥੩॥
eis jag meh virale jaaneeeh naanak sach lahan |34|1|3|
In this world, only a rare few are known, O Nanak, to have obtained the True Lord. ||34||1||3||
