DOHRA,
ਐਸੇ ਸ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਸੁਮੇਰ ਕੇ ਸੋਭਤ ਚੰਡਿ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ॥
aise sring sumer ke sobhat chandd prachandd |
The powerful Chandi looks splendid on the summit of Sumeru thus,
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਹਾਸ ਕਰਿ ਬਰ ਧਰੇ ਜਨ ਜਮ ਲੀਨੇ ਦੰਡ ॥੮੦॥
chandrahaas kar bar dhare jan jam leene dandd |80|
With the sword in her hand she seems like Yama carrying his club.80.,
ਕਿਸੀ ਕਾਜ ਕੋ ਦੈਤ ਇਕ ਆਇਓ ਹੈ ਤਿਹ ਠਾਇ ॥
kisee kaaj ko dait ik aaeo hai tih tthaae |
For unknown reason, one of the demons came to that site.,
ਨਿਰਖ ਰੂਪ ਬਰੁ ਚੰਡਿ ਕੋ ਗਿਰਿਓ ਮੂਰਛਾ ਖਾਹਿ ॥੮੧॥
nirakh roop bar chandd ko girio moorachhaa khaeh |81|
When he saw the horrible form of Kali, he fell down unconscious.81.,
ਉਠਿ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਕਰ ਜੋਰ ਕੈ ਕਹੀ ਚੰਡ ਸੋ ਬਾਤ ॥
autth sanbhaar kar jor kai kahee chandd so baat |
When he came to his senses, that demon, pulling himself up, said to the goddess,
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੁੰਭ ਕੋ ਭਾਤ ਹੌ ਕਹ︀ਯੋ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਕਚਾਤ ॥੮੨॥
nripat sunbh ko bhaat hau kehayo bachan sukachaat |82|
“I am the brother of king Sumbh,” then the added with some hesitation,82
ਤੀਨ ਲੋਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਬਸਿ ਕੀਏ ਅਤਿ ਬਲ ਭੁਜਾ ਅਖੰਡ ॥
teen lok jin bas kee at bal bhujaa akhandd |
“He hath brought under his control all the three worlds with his mighty armed strength,
ਐਸੋ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਸੁੰਭ ਹੈ ਤਾਹਿ ਬਰੇ ਬਰਿ ਚੰਡ ॥੮੩॥
aiso bhoopat sunbh hai taeh bare bar chandd |83|
“Such is the king Sumbh, O Superb Chandi, marry him.”83.,
ਸੁਨਿ ਰਾਕਸ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਕੋ ਦੇਵੀ ਉਤਰ ਦੀਨ ॥
sun raakas kee baat ko devee utar deen |
Hearing the words of the demon, the goddess replied thus:,
ਜੁਧ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਹਿ ਬਰੋ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਦੈਤ ਮਤਹੀਨ ॥੮੪॥
judh karai bin neh baro sunahu dait mataheen |84|
“O foolish demon, I cannot marry him without waging the war.”84.,
ਇਹ ਸੁਨਿ ਦਾਨਵ ਚਪਲ ਗਤਿ ਗਇਓ ਸੁੰਭ ਕੇ ਪਾਸ ॥
eih sun daanav chapal gat geo sunbh ke paas |
Hearing this, that demon went to king Sumbh very swiftly,
ਪਰਿ ਪਾਇਨ ਕਰ ਜੋਰ ਕੈ ਕਰੀ ਏਕ ਅਰਦਾਸ ॥੮੫॥
par paaein kar jor kai karee ek aradaas |85|
And with folded hands, falling at his feet, he supplicated thus:85.,
ਅਉਰ ਰਤਨ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਧਾਮ ਤੁਅ ਤ੍ਰੀਆ ਰਤਨ ਤੇ ਹੀਨ ॥
aaur ratan nrip dhaam tua treea ratan te heen |
“O king, Thou hast all other gems except the gem of wife,
ਬਧੂ ਏਕ ਬਨ ਮੈ ਬਸੈ ਤਿਹ ਤੁਮ ਬਰੋ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ॥੮੬॥
badhoo ek ban mai basai tih tum baro prabeen |86|
“One beautiful woman lives in the forest, O adept one, marry her.”86.,
