Gond, Fourth Mehl:

ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜੋ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਕਰੇ ਬਿਨਾਸਾ ॥

aisaa har seveeai nit dhiaaeeai jo khin meh kilavikh sabh kare binaasaa |

Serve such a Lord, and ever meditate on Him, who in an instant erases all sins and mistakes.

ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਅਵਰ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕੀਜੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸਭ ਘਾਲ ਗਵਾਸਾ ॥

je har tiaag avar kee aas keejai taa har nihafal sabh ghaal gavaasaa |

If someone forsakes the Lord and places his hopes in another, then all his service to the Lord is rendered fruitless.

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਾਸਾ ॥੧॥

mere man har sevihu sukhadaataa suaamee jis seviai sabh bhukh lahaasaa |1|

O my mind, serve the Lord, the Giver of peace; serving Him, all your hunger shall depart. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਕੀਜੈ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥

mere man har aoopar keejai bharavaasaa |

O my mind, place your faith in the Lord.

ਜਹ ਜਾਈਐ ਤਹ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਜਨ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jeh jaaeeai teh naal meraa suaamee har apanee paij rakhai jan daasaa |1| rahaau |

Wherever I go, my Lord and Master is there with me. The Lord saves the honor of His humble servants and slaves. ||1||Pause||

ਜੇ ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਹਹੁ ਅਵਰਾ ਪਹਿ ਤਾ ਆਗੈ ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਬਹੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਢਾਸਾ ॥

je apanee birathaa kahahu avaraa peh taa aagai apanee birathaa bahu bahut kadtaasaa |

If you tell your sorrows to another, then he, in return, will tell you of his greater sorrows.

ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਹਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਮੑਰੇ ਦੂਖ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਕਟਾਸਾ ॥

apanee birathaa kahahu har apune suaamee peh jo tumare dookh tatakaal kattaasaa |

So tell your sorrows to the Lord, your Lord and Master, who shall instantly dispel your pain.

ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਅਵਰਾ ਪਹਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਅਵਰਾ ਪਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਮਨ ਲਾਜ ਮਰਾਸਾ ॥੨॥

so aisaa prabh chhodd apanee birathaa avaraa peh kaheeai avaraa peh keh man laaj maraasaa |2|

Forsaking such a Lord God, if you tell your sorrows to another, then you shall die of shame. ||2||

ਜੋ ਸੰਸਾਰੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਸੁਆਇ ਮਿਲਾਸਾ ॥

jo sansaarai ke kuttanb mitr bhaaee deeseh man mere te sabh apanai suaae milaasaa |

The relatives, friends and siblings of the world that you see, O my mind, all meet with you for their own purposes.

ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਉਨੑ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਉ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਨੇੜੈ ਕੋ ਨ ਢੁਕਾਸਾ ॥

jit din una kaa suaau hoe na aavai tith din nerrai ko na dtukaasaa |

And that day, when their self-interests are not served, on that day, they shall not come near you.

ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਪਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਉਪਕਰੈ ਦੂਖਿ ਸੁਖਾਸਾ ॥੩॥

man mere apanaa har sev din raatee jo tudh upakarai dookh sukhaasaa |3|

O my mind, serve your Lord, day and night; He shall help you in good times and bad. ||3||

ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਕਿਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੋ ਅੰਤੀ ਅਉਸਰਿ ਰਖਿ ਨ ਸਕਾਸਾ ॥

tis kaa bharavaasaa kiau keejai man mere jo antee aausar rakh na sakaasaa |

Why place your faith in anyone, O my mind, who cannot come to your rescue at the last instant?

ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਮੰਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਪਹੁ ਤਿਨੑ ਅੰਤਿ ਛਡਾਏ ਜਿਨੑ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚਿਤਾਸਾ ॥

har jap mant gur upades lai jaapahu tina ant chhaddaae jina har preet chitaasaa |

Chant the Lord's Mantra, take the Guru's Teachings, and meditate on Him. In the end, the Lord saves those who love Him in their consciousness.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਛੂਟਣ ਕਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੨॥

jan naanak anadin naam japahu har santahu ihu chhoottan kaa saachaa bharavaasaa |4|2|

Servant Nanak speaks: night and day, chant the Lord's Name, O Saints; this is the only true hope for emancipation. ||4||2||
