ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਰਾਜਸ ਤਾਮਸ ਸਾਤਕ ॥

Many millions abide in heated activity, slothful darkness and peaceful light.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਅਰੁ ਸਾਸਤ ॥

kee kott bed puraan simrit ar saasat |

Many millions are the Vedas, Puraanas, Simritees and Shaastras.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਰਤਨ ਸਮੁਦ ॥

kee kott kee ratan samud |

Many millions are the pearls of the oceans.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਨਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਜੰਤ ॥

kee kott naanaa prakaar jant |

Many millions are the beings of so many descriptions.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਚਿਰ ਜੀਵੇ ॥

kee kott kee chir jeeve |

Many millions are made long-lived.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਗਿਰੀ ਮੇਰ ਸੁਵਰਨ ਥੀਵੇ ॥

kee kott giree mer suvaran theeve |

Many millions of hills and mountains have been made of gold.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਜਖੵ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਪਿਸਾਚ ॥

kee kott jakhay kinar pisaach |

Many millions are the Yakhshas - the servants of the god of wealth, the Kinnars - the gods of celestial music, and the evil spirits of the Pisaach.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਸੂਕਰ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਾਚ ॥

kee kott bhoot pret sookar mrigaach |

Many millions are the evil nature-spirits, ghosts, pigs and tigers.

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਨੇਰੈ ਸਭਹੂ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥

sabh te nerai sabhahoo te door |

He is near to all, and yet far from all;

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੪॥

naanak aap alipat rahiaa bharapoor |4|

O Nanak, He Himself remains distinct, while yet pervading all. ||4||
