ਉਮਲ ਲਥੇ ਜੋਧੇ ਮਾਰੂ ਬਜਿਆ ॥

ਬਦਲ ਜਿਉ ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ ਰਣ ਵਿਚਿ ਗਜਿਆ ॥

badal jiau mahikhaasur ran vich gajiaa |

Mahishasura thundered in the field like the cloud

ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਜੇਹਾ ਜੋਧਾ ਮੈਥਉ ਭਜਿਆ ॥

eindr jehaa jodhaa maithau bhajiaa |

“The warrior like Indra fled from me

ਕਉਣ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ਦੁਰਗਾ ਜਿਨ ਰਣੁ ਸਜਿਆ ॥੧੬॥

kaun vichaaree duragaa jin ran sajiaa |16|

“Who is this wretched Durga, who hath come to srart war with me?”16.
