ਦੁਖੀ ਦੁਸਟੁ ਦੁਬਾਜਰਾ ਸੁਤਰ ਮੁਰਗੁ ਹੋਇ ਕੰਮ ਨ ਆਵੈ ।

dukhee dusatt dubaajaraa sutar murag hoe kam na aavai |

The evil person who is double-talker is always unhappy and is useless like an ostrich.

ਉਡਣਿ ਉਡੈ ਨ ਲਦੀਐ ਪੁਰਸੁਸ ਹੋਈ ਆਪੁ ਲਖਾਵੈ ।

auddan uddai na ladeeai purasus hoee aap lakhaavai |

An ostrich can neither fly nor can be laden, but it strutts ostentatiously.

ਹਸਤੀ ਦੰਦ ਵਖਾਣੀਅਨਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਦਿਖਾਲੈ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਖਾਵੈ ।

hasatee dand vakhaaneean hor dikhaalai horat khaavai |

The elephant has one set of teeth for display and another for eating.

ਬਕਰੀਆਂ ਨੋ ਚਾਰ ਥਣੁ ਦੁਇ ਗਲ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਇ ਲੇਵੈ ਲਾਵੈ ।

bakareean no chaar than due gal vich due levai laavai |

Goats have four teats, two on their necks and two attached to their udders.

ਇਕਨੀ ਦੁਧੁ ਸਮਾਵਦਾ ਇਕ ਠਗਾਊ ਠਗਿ ਠਗਾਵੈ ।

eikanee dudh samaavadaa ik tthagaaoo tthag tthagaavai |

The latter contain milk, the former deceive those who expect milk from them.

ਮੋਰਾਂ ਅਖੀ ਚਾਰਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਉਇ ਦੇਖਨਿ ਓਨੀ ਦਿਸਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ।

moraan akhee chaar chaar ue dekhan onee dis na aavai |

Peacocks have four eyes through which they behold but others know nothing about them.

ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਕੁਦਾਉ ਹਰਾਵੈ ।੧੨।

doojaa bhaau kudaau haraavai |12|

So turning one's attention to two masters (religions) leads to disastrous failure.
