ਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਪਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਯੋ ਰੂਪ ਮੁਨਿਵਰ ਕੋ ॥

kaal purakh kee aagiaa paae pragatt bhayo roop munivar ko |

By the command of [A]kal Purakh [the Khalsa] took the form of the most exalted of sages, with matted hair from the top of its head to the smallest nail of its toe.

ਜਟਾ ਜੂਟ ਨਖ ਸਿਖ ਕਰ ਪਾਵਨ ਭਗਤ ਸੂਰ ਦ੍ਵੈ ਰੂਪ ਨਰਵਰ ਕੋ ॥

jattaa joott nakh sikh kar paavan bhagat soor dvai roop naravar ko |

By keeping company with the divine it achieved true purity, acquiring the noblest of forms which is that of the truly devoted (bhagat rup).

ਚਕ੍ਰਵੈ ਪਦ ਦਾਤ ਧੁਰ ਪਾਯੋ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਜ ਭੁੰਚਤ ਗਿਰਵਰ ਕੋ ॥

chakravai pad daat dhur paayo dharam raaj bhunchat giravar ko |

Dharam-raj bestowed on it the rank of ruler supreme, setting its place far above all that others can reach.

ਉਦੈ ਅਸਤ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਯੰਤੰ ਅਬਿਚਲ ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸੁਰਪੁਰਿ ਕੋ ॥੩੬੬॥

audai asat samundr prayantan abichal raaj milio surapur ko |366|

From heaven he established its [paramount] rule, from the furthest shore to the uttermost limit. 366

ਪੰਥ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਭਯੋ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਗਿਆ ਕਰ ਉਦਤ ਭਏ ॥

panth khaalasaa bhayo puneetaa prabh aagiaa kar udat bhe |

By his command the Lord created that Panth which is the Khalsa.

ਮਿਟੀ ਦ੍ਵੈਤ ਸੁ ਜਗਤ ਉਪਾਧਿਨ ਅਸੁਰ ਮਲੇਛਨ ਮੂਲ ਗਏ ॥

mittee dvait su jagat upaadhin asur malechhan mool ge |

The earth was cleansed of refuse, both demons and malechhs.

ਧਰਮ ਪੰਥ ਖ਼ਾਲਸ ਪ੍ਰਚੁਰ ਭਯੋ ਸਤ ਸ੍ਵਰੂਪ ਮੁਨ ਰੂਪ ਜਏ ॥

dharam panth khaalas prachur bhayo sat svaroop mun roop je |

The sacred and pure Panth multiplied, walking in the way of truth and piety.

ਕਛ ਕੇਸ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਮੁਦਰਾ ਗੁਰ ਭਗਤਾ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਭਏ ॥੩੬੭॥

kachh kes kripaan trai mudaraa gur bhagataa raamadaas bhe |367|

Kachh, kirpan, and kes — these three signs made followers of the Guru the servants [also] of God (ram das). 367
