ਕੋਊ ਕਹੈ ਗਿਰਿ ਮਧਿ ਗੁਫਾ ਇਹ ਕੋਊ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਕਹੈ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੋ ॥
koaoo kahai gir madh gufaa ih koaoo ikatr kahai andhiaaro |
Someone said that it is a cave within the mountain
ਬਾਲਕ ਕੋਊ ਕਹੈ ਇਹ ਰਾਛਸ ਕੋਊ ਕਹੈ ਇਹ ਪੰਨਗ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
baalak koaoo kahai ih raachhas koaoo kahai ih panag bhaaro |
Someone said that there was the abode of darkness someone said that it was a demon and some said that it was a huge snake
ਜਾਇ ਕਹੈ ਇਕ ਨਾਹਿ ਕਹੈ ਇਕ ਬਿਓਤ ਇਹੀ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਤਿਨ ਧਾਰੋ ॥
jaae kahai ik naeh kahai ik biot ihee man mai tin dhaaro |
Some of them expressed a desire to go into it and some of them refused to go and in this way, the discussion continued
ਏਕ ਕਹੈ ਚਲੋ ਭਉ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਸੁ ਬਚਾਵ ਕਰੇ ਘਨਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਹਮਾਰੋ ॥੧੭੧॥
ek kahai chalo bhau na kachhoo su bachaav kare ghanasayaam hamaaro |171|
Then one of them said, “Go into it fearlessly, Krishna will protect us.”171.
ਹੇਰਿ ਹਰੈ ਤਿਹ ਮਧਿ ਧਸੇ ਮੁਖ ਨ ਉਨਿ ਰਾਛਸ ਮੀਚ ਲਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
her harai tih madh dhase mukh na un raachhas meech layo hai |
They called Krishna and all of them entered in it and that demon closed his mouth
ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਜੂ ਆਵੈ ਜਬੈ ਮਮ ਮੀਟ ਹੋ ਬਿਓਤ ਇਹੀ ਮਨ ਮਧਿ ਕਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
sayaam joo aavai jabai mam meett ho biot ihee man madh kayo hai |
He had already thought about it that as Krishna would enter, he would close his mouth
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਗਏ ਤਬ ਮੀਟ ਲਯੋ ਮੁਖ ਦੇਵਨ ਤੋ ਹਹਕਾਰੁ ਭਯੋ ਹੈ ॥
kaanrah ge tab meett layo mukh devan to hahakaar bhayo hai |
When Krishna went in, he closed his mouth and there was great lamentation amongst the gods
ਜੀਵਨ ਮੂਰਿ ਹੁਤੀ ਹਮਰੀ ਅਬ ਸੋਊ ਅਘਾਸੁਰ ਚਾਬਿ ਗਯੋ ਹੈ ॥੧੭੨॥
jeevan moor hutee hamaree ab soaoo aghaasur chaab gayo hai |172|
All of them began to say that he was the only support o their life and he was also chewed by Aghasura.172.
ਦੇਹਿ ਬਢਾਇ ਬਡੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਮੁਖ ਰੋਕ ਲਯੋ ਉਹ ਰਾਛਸ ਹੀ ਕੋ ॥
dehi badtaae baddo har jee mukh rok layo uh raachhas hee ko |
Krishna prevented the full closure of the mouth of the demon by extending his body
ਰੋਕ ਲਏ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਬਲੁ ਸਾਸ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਜੀ ਕੋ ॥
rok le sabh hee kar kai bal saas badtiyo tab hee uh jee ko |
Krishna obstructed the whole way with his force and hands and thus the breath of Aghasura began to be puffed up
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਿਦਾਰ ਦਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਸਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਭਯੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਬਕੀ ਕੋ ॥
kaanrah bidaar dayo tih ko sir praan bhayo bin bhraat bakee ko |
Krishna tore away his head and this brother of Bakasura breathed his last
ਗੂਦ ਪਰਿਓ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਇਮ ਜਿਉ ਸਵਦਾਗਰ ਕੋ ਟੂਟਿ ਗਯੋ ਮਟੁ ਘੀ ਕੋ ॥੧੭੩॥
good pario tih ko im jiau savadaagar ko ttoott gayo matt ghee ko |173|
The marrow of his head came out like the breaking of the pitcher of ghee of some trader.173.
ਰਾਹ ਭਯੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਨਿਕਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਗਵਾਰ ਸਭੈ ਨਿਕਸੇ ਤਿਹ ਨਾਰੇ ॥
raah bhayo tab hee nikase har gavaar sabhai nikase tih naare |
In this way, when the passage was created, Krishna came out alongwith his gopa friends from the head of the demon
ਦੇਵ ਤਬੈ ਹਰਖੇ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਪਿਖਿ ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਬਚਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਪੰਨਗ ਭਾਰੇ ॥
dev tabai harakhe man mai pikh kaanrah bachio har panag bhaare |
All the gods were overjoyed to see Krishna surviving from the attack of the huge serpent
ਗਾਵਤ ਗੀਤ ਸਬੈ ਗਣ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਭੋ ਮੁਖ ਬੇਦ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥
gaavat geet sabai gan gandhrab braham sabho mukh bed uchaare |
The ganas and gandarvas began to sing songs and Brahma began to recite Vedas
ਆਨੰਦ ਸ︀ਯਾਮ ਭਯੋ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਨਗ ਰਛਕ ਜੀਤਿ ਚਲੇ ਘਰਿ ਭਾਰੇ ॥੧੭੪॥
aanand sayaam bhayo man mai nag rachhak jeet chale ghar bhaare |174|
There was happiness in the minds of all, and Krishna and his companions, the conquerors of the Naga, started for their home.174.
ਕਾਨ੍ਰਹ ਕਢਿਯੋ ਸਿਰਿ ਕੇ ਮਗਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਨ ਕਢਿਯੋ ਮੁਖ ਕੇ ਮਗੁ ਜੋਰ ਅੜੀ ਕੇ ॥
kaanrah kadtiyo sir ke mag hvai na kadtiyo mukh ke mag jor arree ke |
Krishna came out from the head of the demon and not from his mouth, saturated with blood
ਸ੍ਰਉਨ ਭਰਿਯੋ ਇਮ ਠਾਢਿ ਭਯੋ ਪਹਰੇ ਪਟ ਜਿਉ ਮੁਨਿ ਸ੍ਰਿੰਗਮੜੀ ਕੇ ॥
sraun bhariyo im tthaadt bhayo pahare patt jiau mun sringamarree ke |
All were standing like a sage clad in red ochre clothes
ਏਕ ਕਹੀ ਇਹ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਫੁਨਿ ਅਉ ਕਬਿ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਮਧਿ ਬੜੀ ਕੇ ॥
ek kahee ih kee upamaa fun aau kab ke man madh barree ke |
The poet has also given a simile for this spectacle
ਢੋਵਤ ਈਟ ਗੁਆਰ ਸਨੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਉਰਿ ਚੜੇ ਜਨੁ ਸੀਸ ਗੜੀ ਕੇ ॥੧੭੫॥
dtovat eett guaar sanai har daur charre jan sees garree ke |175|
It seemed that the gopas had become red by carrying on heads the bricks and Krishna had run and stood on the top of the citadel.175.
ਇਤਿ ਅਘਾਸੁਰ ਦੈਤ ਬਧਹਿ ॥
