ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Basant, Third Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਲੋਗੁ ॥

har seve so har kaa log |

One who serves the Lord is the Lord's person.

ਸਾਚੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਗੁ ॥

saach sehaj kade na hovai sog |

He dwells in intuitive peace, and never suffers in sorrow.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਏ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

manamukh mue naahee har man maeh |

The self-willed manmukhs are dead; the Lord is not within their minds.

ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਭੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥

mar mar jameh bhee mar jaeh |1|

They die and die again and again, and are reincarnated, only to die once more. ||1||

ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜੀਵੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

se jan jeeve jin har man maeh |

They alone are alive, whose minds are filled with the Lord.

ਸਾਚੁ ਸਮੑਾਲਹਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

saach samaaleh saach samaeh |1| rahaau |

They contemplate the True Lord, and are absorbed in the True Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਹਰਿ ਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥

har na seveh te har te door |

Those who do not serve the Lord are far away from the Lord.

ਦਿਸੰਤਰੁ ਭਵਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਧੂਰਿ ॥

disantar bhaveh sir paaveh dhoor |

They wander in foreign lands, with dust thrown on their heads.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਨ ਲੀਏ ਲਾਇ ॥

har aape jan lee laae |

The Lord Himself enjoins His humble servants to serve Him.

ਤਿਨ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥੨॥

tin sadaa sukh hai til na tamaae |2|

They live in peace forever, and have no greed at all. ||2||

ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਚੂਕੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥

nadar kare chookai abhimaan |

When the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, egotism is eradicated.

ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥

saachee daragah paavai maan |

Then, the mortal is honored in the Court of the True Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥

har jeeo vekhai sad hajoor |

He sees the Dear Lord always close at hand, ever-present.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੩॥

gur kai sabad rahiaa bharapoor |3|

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he sees the Lord pervading and permeating all. ||3||

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕੀ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥

jeea jant kee kare pratipaal |

The Lord cherishes all beings and creatures.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਦ ਸਮੑਾਲ ॥

gur parasaadee sad samaal |

By Guru's Grace, contemplate Him forever.

ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥

dar saachai pat siau ghar jaae |

You shall go to your true home in the Lord's Court with honor.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥

naanak naam vaddaaee paae |4|3|

O Nanak, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you shall be blessed with glorious greatness. ||4||3||
