KABIT : BY THY GRACE
ਗਹਿਓ ਜੋ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਅਗਾਹ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਗਾਈਅਤੁ ਛੇਦਿਓ ਜੋ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਅਛੇਦ ਕੈ ਪਛਾਨੀਐ ॥
gahio jo na jaae so agaah kai kai gaaeeat chhedio jo na jaae so achhed kai pachhaaneeai |
He, who cannot be grasped, He is called Inaccessible and He, who cannot be assailed is recognized as unassailable.
ਗੰਜਿਓ ਜੋ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਅਗੰਜ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਜਾਨੀਅਤੁ ਭੰਜਿਓ ਜੋ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਅਭੰਜ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਮਾਨੀਐ ॥
ganjio jo na jaae so aganj kai kai jaaneeat bhanjio jo na jaae so abhanj kai kai maaneeai |
He who cannot be destroyed is known as indestructible and He, who cannot be divided in considered as indivisible.
ਸਾਧਿਓ ਜੋ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਅਸਾਧਿ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਸਾਧ ਕਰ ਛਲਿਓ ਜੋ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਅਛਲ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਨੀਐ ॥
saadhio jo na jaae so asaadh kai kai saadh kar chhalio jo na jaae so achhal kai pramaaneeai |
He, who cannot be disciplined, may be called incorrigible and He, who cannot be deceived is considered as Undeceivable.
ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਸੋ ਅਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਨ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਸੋ ਅਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਜਾਨੀਐ ॥੧॥੪੦॥
mantr mai na aavai so amantr kai kai maan man jantr mai na aavai so ajantr kai kai jaaneeai |1|40|
He, who is without the impact of mantras (incantations) may be considered as Unspellable and He, who is without the impact of Yantras (mystical diagrams) may be known as Unmagical.1.40.
ਜਾਤ ਮੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਸੋ ਅਜਾਤ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਜਾਨ ਜੀਅ ਪਾਤ ਮੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਸੋ ਅਪਾਤ ਕੈ ਬੁਲਾਈਐ ॥
jaat mai na aavai so ajaat kai kai jaan jeea paat mai na aavai so apaat kai bulaaeeai |
Consider Him as casteless in Thy mind, Who is devoid of caste, call Him lineageless who is devoid of lineage.
ਭੇਦ ਮੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਸੋ ਅਭੇਦ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਭਾਖੀਅਤੁ ਛੇਦ︀ਯੋ ਜੋ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਅਛੇਦ ਕੈ ਸੁਨਾਈਐ ॥
bhed mai na aavai so abhed kai kai bhaakheeat chhedayo jo na jaae so achhed kai sunaaeeai |
He may be called as Indiscriminate, who is devoid of discriminations He, who cannot be assailed, may be spoken as Unassailable.
ਖੰਡਿਓ ਜੋ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਅਖੰਡ ਜੂ ਕੋ ਖਿਆਲੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਖਿਆਲ ਮੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਗਮੁ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਸਦਾ ਖਾਈਐ ॥
khanddio jo na jaae so akhandd joo ko khiaal keejai khiaal mai na aavai gam taa ko sadaa khaaeeai |
He, who cannot be divided, may be considered as indivisible He, who cannot be grasped in thought, always makes us sorrowful.
ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਜਾਪੀਅਤੁ ਧਿਆਨ ਮੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੨॥੪੧॥
jantr mai na aavai ajantr kai kai jaapeeat dhiaan mai na aavai taa ko dhiaan keejai dhiaaeeai |2|41|
He, who is without the impact of mystical diagrams, may be muttered as Unmagical He who doth not come in contemplation, may be contemplated upon and meditated.2.41.
ਛਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ਛਤ੍ਰੀਪਤਿ ਛੈਲ ਰੂਪ ਛਿਤਨਾਥ ਛੌਣੀ ਕਰ ਛਾਇਆ ਬਰ ਛਤ੍ਰੀਪਤ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
chhatradhaaree chhatreepat chhail roop chhitanaath chhauanee kar chhaaeaa bar chhatreepat gaaeeai |
He is sung as the canopied monarch, the Lord of canopies, a winsome entity, the Master and Creator of the earth and the superb support.
ਬਿਸ੍ਵ ਨਾਥ ਬਿਸ੍ਵੰਭਰ ਬੇਦਨਾਥ ਬਾਲਾਕਰ ਬਾਜੀਗਰਿ ਬਾਨਧਾਰੀ ਬੰਧ ਨ ਬਤਾਈਐ ॥
bisv naath bisvanbhar bedanaath baalaakar baajeegar baanadhaaree bandh na bataaeeai |
He is the Lord Sustainer of the Universe, Master of Vedas depicted as Lord having discipline.
ਨਿਉਲੀ ਕਰਮ ਦੂਧਾਧਾਰੀ ਬਿਦਿਆਧਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਕੋ ਲਗਾਵੈ ਨੈਕ ਧਿਆਨ ਹੂੰ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
niaulee karam doodhaadhaaree bidiaadhar brahamachaaree dhiaan ko lagaavai naik dhiaan hoon na paaeeai |
The Yogis performing Neoli Karma (cleansing of intestines), those subsisting only on milk, learned and celibates, all meditate upon Him, but without an iota of getting His comprehension.
ਰਾਜਨ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਨ ਕੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਐਸੋ ਰਾਜ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਉਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਉਨ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੩॥੪੨॥
raajan ke raajaa mahaaraajan ke mahaaraajaa aiso raaj chhodd aaur doojaa kaun dhiaaeeai |3|42|
He is the king of kings and emperor of emperors, Who else should be meditated upon, forsaking such a Supreme monarch?.3.42.
ਜੁਧ ਕੇ ਜਿਤਈਆ ਰੰਗ ਭੂਮ ਕੇ ਭਵਈਆ ਭਾਰ ਭੂਮ ਕੇ ਮਿਟਈਆ ਨਾਥ ਤੀਨ ਲੋਕ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
judh ke jiteea rang bhoom ke bhaveea bhaar bhoom ke mitteea naath teen lok gaaeeai |
His Name is sung in all the three worlds, who is the conqueror of wars, the mover on the stage and the effacer of the burden of earth.
ਕਾਹੂ ਕੇ ਤਨਈਆ ਹੈ ਨ ਮਈਆ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਈਆ ਕੋਊ ਛਉਨੀ ਹੂ ਕੇ ਛਈਆ ਛੋਡ ਕਾ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਲਾਈਐ ॥
kaahoo ke taneea hai na meea jaa ke bheea koaoo chhaunee hoo ke chheea chhodd kaa siau preet laaeeai |
He hath neither a son, nor mother non brother He is the Support of the earth, forsaking such Lord whom should we love?
ਸਾਧਨਾ ਸਧਈਆ ਧੂਲ ਧਾਨੀ ਕੇ ਧੁਜਈਆ ਧੋਮ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਧਰਈਆ ਧਿਆਨ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਸਦਾ ਲਾਈਐ ॥
saadhanaa sadheea dhool dhaanee ke dhujeea dhom dhaar ke dhareea dhiaan taa ko sadaa laaeeai |
We should always meditate upon Him who is instrumental in all accomplishments, establisher of the earth and Support of the sky.
ਆਉ ਕੇ ਬਢਈਆ ਏਕ ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਜਪਈਆ ਅਉਰ ਕਾਮ ਕੇ ਕਰਈਆ ਛੋਡ ਅਉਰ ਕਉਨ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੪॥੪੩॥
aau ke badteea ek naam ke japeea aaur kaam ke kareea chhodd aaur kaun dhiaaeeai |4|43|
When should we meditate upon forsaking the Lord who prolongs the age of our life, who causes the Name to be repeated and all other works to be done?4.43.
ਕਾਮ ਕੋ ਕੁਨਿੰਦਾ ਖੈਰ ਖੂਬੀ ਕੋ ਦਿਹੰਦਾ ਗਜ ਗਾਜੀ ਕੋ ਗਜਿੰਦਾ ਸੋ ਕੁਨਿੰਦਾ ਕੈ ਬਤਾਈਐ ॥
kaam ko kunindaa khair khoobee ko dihandaa gaj gaajee ko gajindaa so kunindaa kai bataaeeai |
He is called the creator, who completes all the errands, who gives the comfort and honour and who is the destroyer of warriors stout like elephants.
ਚਾਮ ਕੇ ਚਲਿੰਦਾ ਘਾਉ ਘਾਮ ਤੇ ਬਚਿੰਦਾ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਛੈਨੀ ਕੇ ਛਲਿੰਦਾ ਸੋ ਦਿਹੰਦਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਾਈਐ ॥
chaam ke chalindaa ghaau ghaam te bachindaa chhatr chhainee ke chhalindaa so dihandaa kai manaaeeai |
He is the wielder of bow, the Protector from all types of afflictions, Deceiver of the universal monarchs and Donor of everything without asking. He should be worshipped with diligence.
ਜਰ ਕੇ ਦਿਹੰਦਾ ਜਾਨ ਮਾਨ ਕੋ ਜਨਿੰਦਾ ਜੋਤ ਜੇਬ ਕੋ ਗਜਿੰਦਾ ਜਾਨ ਮਾਨ ਜਾਨ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
jar ke dihandaa jaan maan ko janindaa jot jeb ko gajindaa jaan maan jaan gaaeeai |
He is the Giver of wealth, Knower of life and honour and sorter of light and reputation His Praises should be sung.
ਦੋਖ ਕੇ ਦਲਿੰਦਾ ਦੀਨ ਦਾਨਸ ਦਿਹੰਦਾ ਦੋਖ ਦੁਰਜਨ ਦਲਿੰਦਾ ਧਿਆਇ ਦੂਜੋ ਕਉਨ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੫॥੪੪॥
dokh ke dalindaa deen daanas dihandaa dokh durajan dalindaa dhiaae doojo kaun dhiaaeeai |5|44|
He is the effacer of blemishes, the giver of religious discipline and wisdom and the destroyer of vicious people. Whom else should we remember?5.44.
ਸਾਲਿਸ ਸਹਿੰਦਾ ਸਿਧਤਾਈ ਕੋ ਸਧਿੰਦਾ ਅੰਗ ਅੰਗ ਮੈ ਅਵਿੰਦਾ ਏਕੁ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਥ ਜਾਨੀਐ ॥
saalis sahindaa sidhataaee ko sadhindaa ang ang mai avindaa ek eko naath jaaneeai |
He endures everything peacefully, He is engrossed in attainment of perfection, and He is the Only Lord who pervades in all limbs.
ਕਾਲਖ ਕਟਿੰਦਾ ਖੁਰਾਸਾਨ ਕੋ ਖੁਨਿੰਦਾ ਗ੍ਰਬ ਗਾਫਲ ਗਿਲਿੰਦਾ ਗੋਲ ਗੰਜਖ ਬਖਾਨੀਐ ॥
kaalakh kattindaa khuraasaan ko khunindaa grab gaafal gilindaa gol ganjakh bakhaaneeai |
He is the remover of darkness, the masher of the Pathans of Khorasan, perisher of the egoists and idlers, He is described as the destroyer of people full of vices.
ਗਾਲਬ ਗਰੰਦਾ ਜੀਤ ਤੇਜ ਕੇ ਦਿਹੰਦਾ ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਚਾਪ ਕੇ ਚਲਿੰਦਾ ਛੋਡ ਅਉਰ ਕਉਨ ਆਨੀਐ ॥
gaalab garandaa jeet tej ke dihandaa chitr chaap ke chalindaa chhodd aaur kaun aaneeai |
Whom should we worship except the Lord who is the Vanquisher of the Conquerors, giver of the Glory of conquest and who shoots the miraculous arrows from His bow.
ਸਤਤਾ ਦਿਹੰਦਾ ਸਤਤਾਈ ਕੋ ਸੁਖਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਮ ਕੋ ਕੁਨਿੰਦਾ ਛੋਡ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਉਨ ਮਾਨੀਐ ॥੬॥੪੫॥
satataa dihandaa satataaee ko sukhindaa karam kaam ko kunindaa chhodd doojaa kaun maaneeai |6|45|
Whom else should we adore except him who is the Giver of Truth and Drier of falsehood and performer of Graceful acts?6.45.
ਜੋਤ ਕੋ ਜਗਿੰਦਾ ਜੰਗੇ ਜਾਫਰੀ ਦਿਹੰਦਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਮਾਰੀ ਕੇ ਮਲਿੰਦਾ ਪੈ ਕੁਨਿੰਦਾ ਕੈ ਬਖਾਨੀਐ ॥
jot ko jagindaa jange jaafaree dihandaa mitr maaree ke malindaa pai kunindaa kai bakhaaneeai |
He is the Enlightener of the light, Giver of the victory in wars and is known as the Destroyer of the murderer of the friends.
ਪਾਲਕ ਪੁਨਿੰਦਾ ਪਰਮ ਪਾਰਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਿੰਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਰਾਗ ਕੇ ਸੁਨਿੰਦਾ ਪੈ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਤੇਜ ਮਾਨੀਐ ॥
paalak punindaa param paarasee pragindaa rang raag ke sunindaa pai anandaa tej maaneeai |
He is the Sustainer, Giver of shelter, Far-sighted and knower, He is considered as listener of entertaining modes of music and full of blissful splendour.
ਜਾਪ ਕੇ ਜਪਿੰਦਾ ਖੈਰ ਖੂਬੀ ਕੇ ਦਹਿੰਦਾ ਖੂਨ ਮਾਫ ਕੋ ਕੁਨਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਭਿਜ ਰੂਪ ਠਾਨੀਐ ॥
jaap ke japindaa khair khoobee ke dahindaa khoon maaf ko kunindaa hai abhij roop tthaaneeai |
He is cause of the repetition of His Name and Giver of peace and hounour He is the forgiver of the blemishes and is considered as Unattached.
ਆਰਜਾ ਦਹਿੰਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਰਾਗ ਕੋ ਬਿਢੰਦਾ ਦੁਸਟ ਦ੍ਰੋਹ ਕੇ ਦਲਿੰਦਾ ਛੋਡ ਦੂਜੋ ਕੌਨ ਮਾਨੀਐ ॥੭॥੪੬॥
aarajaa dahindaa rang raag ko bidtandaa dusatt droh ke dalindaa chhodd doojo kauan maaneeai |7|46|
He is the prolonger of life, the Promoter of the entertainments of music and the masher of tyrants and malevolent, whom else should we then ADORE? 7.46.
ਆਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਹ ਸਿਧਤਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਤਾਹ ਬੁਧਤਾ ਬਿਭੂਤ ਜਾਹ ਸਿਧਤਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਹੈ ॥
aatamaa pradhaan jaah sidhataa saroop taah budhataa bibhoot jaah sidhataa subhaau hai |
His Self is Supreme, He is Power-incarnate, His wealth is His Intellect and His Nature is that of a Redeemer.
ਰਾਗ ਭੀ ਨ ਰੰਗ ਤਾਹਿ ਰੂਪ ਭੀ ਨ ਰੇਖ ਜਾਹਿ ਅੰਗ ਭੀ ਸੁਰੰਗ ਤਾਹ ਰੰਗ ਕੇ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਹੈ ॥
raag bhee na rang taeh roop bhee na rekh jaeh ang bhee surang taah rang ke subhaau hai |
He is without affection, colour, form and mark, still He hath beautiful limbs and His Nature is that of Love.
ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੋ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਤਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ ਸੁ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੂੰ ਕੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ ਬਿਭੂਤ ਕੋ ਉਪਾਉ ਹੈ ॥
chitr so bachitr hai paramataa pavitr hai su mitr hoon ke mitr hai bibhoot ko upaau hai |
His painting of the universe is Wonderful and Supremely Spotless He is friend of friends and Supreme Donor of wealth.
ਦੇਵਨ ਕੇ ਦੇਵ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਹਨ ਕੇ ਸਾਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੋ ਰਾਜੁ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਰਾਵਨ ਕੋ ਰਾਉ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੪੭॥
devan ke dev hai ki saahan ke saah hai ki raajan ko raaj hai ki raavan ko raau hai |8|47|
He is the god of gods monarch of monarch He is the king of kings and chieftain of the chiefs.8.47.
