ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਨਿਯਹਿ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ॥

nrip ik din raaniyeh bulaayo |

ਭਛ ਭੋਜ ਅਰੁ ਮਦਹਿ ਮੰਗਾਯੋ ॥

bhachh bhoj ar madeh mangaayo |

The Raja called the Rani one day and ordered for the food and wine.

ਅਧਿਕ ਮਦਹਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਲੈ ਪਿਯੋ ॥

adhik madeh raajaa lai piyo |

ਥੋਰਿਕ ਸੋ ਰਾਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਲਿਯੋ ॥੨੫॥

thorik so raanee tin liyo |25|

The Raja drank a lot but the Rani swallowed a little bit.(25)

ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਕਹ ਭਯੋ ਮਦ੍ਰਯ ਮਦ ਭਾਰੋ ॥

nrip keh bhayo madray mad bhaaro |

ਸੋਇ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਸੁਧਹਿ ਸੰਭਾਰੋ ॥

soe rahiyo neh sudheh sanbhaaro |

As the Raja had too much wine, he was intoxicated and fell flat to sleep,

ਪਤਿ ਸੋਯੋ ਲਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥

pat soyo leh triy man maahee |

ਭੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਪਛਾਨ︀ਯੋ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨੬॥

bhed abhed pachhaanayo naahee |26|

Beholding him in deep slumber, she lost the sense of morality and dishonour.(26)
