ਪਰਾਤਮਾ ਬਾਚ ॥

paraatamaa baach |

The Higher Soul said:

ਯਹਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਆਹਿ ਆਤਮਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

yeh braham aaeh aatamaa raam |

“This Soul is itself Brahman

ਜਿਹ ਅਮਿਤ ਤੇਜਿ ਅਬਿਗਤ ਅਕਾਮ ॥

jih amit tej abigat akaam |

” Who is of Everlasting Glory and is Unmanisfested and Desireless.

ਜਿਹ ਭੇਦ ਭਰਮ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਲ ॥

jih bhed bharam nahee karam kaal |

Who is indiscriminate, actionless and deathless

ਜਿਹ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਰਬਾ ਦਿਆਲ ॥੩॥੧੨੮॥

jih satr mitr sarabaa diaal |3|128|

Who hath no enemy and friend and is Merciful towards all.3.1228.

ਡੋਬਿਯੋ ਨ ਡੁਬੈ ਸੋਖਿਯੋ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

ddobiyo na ddubai sokhiyo na jaae |

It is neither drowned nor soaked

ਕਟਿਯੋ ਨ ਕਟੈ ਨ ਬਾਰਿਯੋ ਬਰਾਇ ॥

kattiyo na kattai na baariyo baraae |

It can neither be chopped nor burnt.

ਛਿਜੈ ਨ ਨੈਕ ਸਤ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਤ ॥

chhijai na naik sat sasatr paat |

It cannot be assailed by the blow of weapon

ਜਿਹ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਪਾਤ ॥੪॥੧੨੯॥

jih satr mitr nahee jaat paat |4|129|

It hath neither an enemy nor a friend, neither caste not lineage.4.129.

ਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਹੰਸ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਘਾਇ ॥

satr sahans sat sat praghaae |

ਛਿਜੈ ਨ ਨੈਕ ਖੰਡਿਓ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

chhijai na naik khanddio na jaae |

By the blow of thousands of enemies, It is neither wasted away nor fragmented.

ਨਹੀ ਜਰੈ ਨੈਕ ਪਾਵਕ ਮੰਝਾਰ ॥

nahee jarai naik paavak manjhaar |

ਬੋਰੈ ਨ ਸਿੰਧ ਸੋਖੈ ਨ ਬ੍ਰਯਾਰ ॥੫॥੧੩੦॥

borai na sindh sokhai na brayaar |5|130|

It is not burnt even in the fire. It is neither drowned in the sea nor soaked by the air.5.130.

ਇਕ ਕਰ︀ਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਸਨ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੇਵ ॥

eik karayo prasan aatamaa dev |

ਅਨਭੰਗ ਰੂਪ ਅਨਿਭਉ ਅਭੇਵ ॥

anabhang roop anibhau abhev |

Then the Soul questioned the Lord thus : “O Lord! Thou art Invincible, Intuitive and Indiscriminate Entity

ਯਹਿ ਚਤੁਰ ਵਰਗ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾਨ ॥

yeh chatur varag sansaar daan |

“This world mentions four categories of Charities

ਕਿਹੁ ਚਤੁਰ ਵਰਗ ਕਿਜੈ ਵਖਿਆਨ ॥੬॥੧੩੧॥

kihu chatur varag kijai vakhiaan |6|131|

Which are these categories, tell me Graciously.”6.131.

ਇਕ ਰਾਜੁ ਧਰਮ ਇਕ ਦਾਨ ਧਰਮ ॥

eik raaj dharam ik daan dharam |

One is political discipline, one is ascetic’s discipline

ਇਕ ਭੋਗ ਧਰਮ ਇਕ ਮੋਛ ਕਰਮ ॥

eik bhog dharam ik mochh karam |

One is householder’s discipline, one is ascetic’s discipline.

ਇਕ ਚਤੁਰ ਵਰਗ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਭਣੰਤ ॥

eik chatur varag sabh jag bhanant |

All the world knows this one of four categories

ਸੇ ਆਤਮਾਹ ਪਰਾਤਮਾ ਪੁਛੰਤ ॥੭॥੧੩੨॥

se aatamaah paraatamaa puchhant |7|132|

That Soul makes enquiries from the Lord.7.132.

ਇਕ ਰਾਜ ਧਰਮ ਇਕ ਧਰਮ ਦਾਨ ॥

eik raaj dharam ik dharam daan |

One is political discipline and one is religious discipline

ਇਕ ਭੋਗ ਧਰਮ ਇਕ ਮੋਛਵਾਨ ॥

eik bhog dharam ik mochhavaan |

One is householder’s discipline, one is ascetic’s discipline .

ਤੁਮ ਕਹੋ ਚਤ੍ਰ ਚਤ੍ਰੈ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥

tum kaho chatr chatrai bichaar |

Tell me Graciously Thy thoughts about all the four:

ਜੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਕਾਲ ਭਏ ਜੁਗ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੮॥੧੩੩॥

je trikaal bhe jug apaar |8|133|

And also tell me their originators in long ages in three epochs.8.133.

ਬਰਨੰਨ ਕਰੋ ਤੁਮ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਦਾਨ ॥

baranan karo tum pritham daan |

Describe to me the first discipline

ਜਿਮ ਦਾਨ ਧਰਮ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ॥

jim daan dharam kine nripaan |

How this religious discipline was observed by the kings.

ਸਤਿਜੁਗ ਕਰਮ ਸੁਰ ਦਾਨ ਦੰਤ ॥

satijug karam sur daan dant |

In Satyuga charities were given by performing virtuous actions

ਭੂਮਾਦਿ ਦਾਨ ਕੀਨੇ ਅਕੰਥ ॥੯॥੧੩੪॥

bhoomaad daan keene akanth |9|134|

Indescribable charities of lands etc , were given.9.134.

ਤ੍ਰੈ ਜੁਗ ਮਹੀਪ ਬਰਨੇ ਨ ਜਾਤ ॥

trai jug maheep barane na jaat |

ਗਾਥਾ ਅਨੰਤ ਉਪਮਾ ਅਗਾਤ ॥

gaathaa anant upamaa agaat |

It is difficult to describe the king of three ages, their story is endless and the Praise indescribable.

ਜੋ ਕੀਏ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਜਗ ਧਰਮ ॥

jo kee jagat mai jag dharam |

ਬਰਨੇ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਤੇ ਅਮਿਤ ਕਰਮ ॥੧੦॥੧੩੫॥

barane na jaeh te amit karam |10|135|

By performing sacrifices, the religious discipline unlimited action.10.135.

ਕਲਜੁਗ ਤੇ ਆਦਿ ਜੋ ਭਏ ਮਹੀਪ ॥

kalajug te aad jo bhe maheep |

ਇਹਿ ਭਰਥ ਖੰਡਿ ਮਹਿ ਜੰਬੂ ਦੀਪ ॥

eihi bharath khandd meh janboo deep |

The kings that reigned before Kaliyuga, in the Jambu Dvipa in the Bharat Khand.

ਤ੍ਵ ਬਲ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਬਰਣੌ ਸੁ ਤ੍ਰੈਣ ॥

tv bal prataap baranau su train |

ਰਾਜਾ ਯੁਧਿਸਟ੍ਰ ਭੂ ਭਰਥ ਏਣ ॥੧੧॥੧੩੬॥

raajaa yudhisattr bhoo bharath en |11|136|

I describe them with Thy Strength and Glory, The king Yadhishtra was the unblemished Sustainer of the earth.11.136.

ਖੰਡੇ ਅਖੰਡ ਜਿਹ ਚਤੁਰ ਖੰਡ ॥

khandde akhandd jih chatur khandd |

ਕੈਰੌ ਕੁਰਖੇਤ੍ਰ ਮਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ॥

kairau kurakhetr maare prachandd |

He (Yadhishtra) broke the unbreakable ones in the four khands (regions), He destroyed the Kauravas with great might in the war of Kurukshetra.

ਜਿਹ ਚਤੁਰ ਕੁੰਡ ਜਿਤਿਯੋ ਦੁਬਾਰ ॥

jih chatur kundd jitiyo dubaar |

ਅਰਜਨ ਭੀਮਾਦਿ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਾ ਜੁਝਾਰ ॥੧੨॥੧੩੭॥

arajan bheemaad bhraataa jujhaar |12|137|

He conquered twice all the four directions. The mighty warriors like Arjuna and Bhim were his brothers.12.137.

ਅਰਜਨ ਪਠਿਯੋ ਉਤਰ ਦਿਸਾਨ ॥

arajan patthiyo utar disaan |

ਭੀਮਹਿ ਕਰਾਇ ਪੂਰਬ ਪਯਾਨ ॥

bheemeh karaae poorab payaan |

He sent Arjuna toward the North for conquest, Bhim went for conquest to the east.

ਸਹਿਦੇਵ ਪਠਿਯੋ ਦਛਣ ਸੁਦੇਸ ॥

sahidev patthiyo dachhan sudes |

ਨੁਕਲਹਿ ਪਠਾਇ ਪਛਮ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ ॥੧੩॥੧੩੮॥

nukaleh patthaae pachham praves |13|138|

Sahdev was sent to the country in the South, Nakul was sent to the West.13.138.

ਮੰਡੇ ਮਹੀਪ ਖੰਡਿਯੋ ਖਤ੍ਰਾਣ ॥

mandde maheep khanddiyo khatraan |

ਜਿਤੇ ਅਜੀਤ ਮੰਡੇ ਮਹਾਨ ॥

jite ajeet mandde mahaan |

The Kshatriya kings were mashed and destroyed. In the Great war the unconquerable were conquered.

ਖੰਡਿਯੋ ਸੁ ਉਤ੍ਰ ਖੁਰਾਸਾਨ ਦੇਸ ॥

khanddiyo su utr khuraasaan des |

ਦਛਨ ਪੂਰਬ ਜੀਤੇ ਨਰੇਸ ॥੧੪॥੧੩੯॥

dachhan poorab jeete nares |14|139|

The Khorasan country in the North was destroyed, The kings of the South and East were conquered.14.139.

ਖਗ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਜੀਤੇ ਮਹੀਪ ॥

khag khandd khandd jeete maheep |

ਬਜਿਯੋ ਨਿਸਾਨ ਇਹ ਜੰਬੂਦੀਪ ॥

bajiyo nisaan ih janboodeep |

The kings of all the regions were defeated with the might of sword. In this Jambu Dvipa the trumpet (of Yudhishtra sounded.

ਇਕ ਠਉਰ ਕੀਏ ਸਬ ਦੇਸ ਰਾਉ ॥

eik tthaur kee sab des raau |

ਮਖ ਰਾਜਸੂਅ ਕੋ ਕੀਓ ਚਾਉ ॥੧੫॥੧੪੦॥

makh raajasooa ko keeo chaau |15|140|

He gathered together the kings of various countries at one place. He expressed his wish for th performance of Rajsu sacrifice.15.140.

ਸਬ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਪਠੇ ਸੁ ਪਤ੍ਰ ॥

sab des des patthe su patr |

ਜਿਤ ਜਿਤ ਗੁਨਾਢ ਕੀਏ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ॥

jit jit gunaadt kee ikatr |

He sent letters to all countries. All the qualified Brahmins were gathered together.

ਮਖ ਰਾਜਸੂਅ ਕੋ ਕੀਯੋ ਅਰੰਭ ॥

makh raajasooa ko keeyo aranbh |

ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਬਹੁਤ ਬੁਲਾਇ ਜਿਤੇ ਅਸੰਭ ॥੧੬॥੧੪੧॥

nrip bahut bulaae jite asanbh |16|141|

The performance of Rajsu sacrifice was started. Many of the conquered kings were called.16.141.
