ਗਉੜੀ₂ ॥

Gauree:

ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਬੈਲ ਬਿਸਾਹੇ ਪਵਨੁ ਪੂਜੀ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਓ ॥

paap pun due bail bisaahe pavan poojee paragaasio |

With both sin and virtue, the ox of the body is purchased; the air of the breath is the capital which has appeared.

ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਗੂਣਿ ਭਰੀ ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਟਾਂਡ ਬਿਸਾਹਿਓ ॥੧॥

trisanaa goon bharee ghatt bheetar in bidh ttaandd bisaahio |1|

The bag on its back is filled with desire; this is how we purchase the herd. ||1||

ਐਸਾ ਨਾਇਕੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥

aisaa naaeik raam hamaaraa |

My Lord is such a wealthy merchant!

ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਕੀਓ ਬਨਜਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sagal sansaar keeo banajaaraa |1| rahaau |

He has made the whole world his peddler. ||1||Pause||

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਏ ਜਗਾਤੀ ਮਨ ਤਰੰਗ ਬਟਵਾਰਾ ॥

kaam krodh due bhe jagaatee man tarang battavaaraa |

Sexual desire and anger are the tax-collectors, and the waves of the mind are the highway robbers.

ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਿਬੇਰਹਿ ਟਾਂਡਾ ਉਤਰਿਓ ਪਾਰਾ ॥੨॥

panch tat mil daan nibereh ttaanddaa utario paaraa |2|

The five elements join together and divide up their loot. This is how our herd is disposed of! ||2||

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਅਬ ਐਸੀ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥

kehat kabeer sunahu re santahu ab aisee ban aaee |

Says Kabeer, listen, O Saints: This is the state of affairs now!

ਘਾਟੀ ਚਢਤ ਬੈਲੁ ਇਕੁ ਥਾਕਾ ਚਲੋ ਗੋਨਿ ਛਿਟਕਾਈ ॥੩॥੫॥੪੯॥

ghaattee chadtat bail ik thaakaa chalo gon chhittakaaee |3|5|49|

Going uphill, the ox has grown weary; throwing off his load, he continues on his journey. ||3||5||49||
