ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਿਉ ਸਿਝੈ ਚੇਲਾ ।

jo gur gopai aapanaa kiau sijhai chelaa |

If the disciple does not know (tell) about his guru, how could he get liberated.

ਸੰਗਲੁ ਘਤਿ ਚਲਾਈਐ ਜਮ ਪੰਥਿ ਇਕੇਲਾ ।

sangal ghat chalaaeeai jam panth ikelaa |

Bound in chains, he is forced to walk alone on the way of the Yama, death.

ਲਹੈ ਸਜਾਈਂ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚਿ ਉਹੁ ਖਰਾ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ।

lahai sajaaeen narak vich uhu kharaa duhelaa |

In dilemma he stands and suffers hell.

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਭਉਦਿਆਂ ਫਿਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਲਾ ।

lakh chauraaseeh bhaudiaan fir hoe na melaa |

Though he transmigrates in the eighty four lac species of life yet he does not meet the Lord.

ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਹਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਉ ਜੂਏ ਖੇਲਾ ।

janam padaarath haariaa jiau jooe khelaa |

Like the playing of gamble, he loses the invaluable stake of life in this game.

ਹਥ ਮਰੋੜੈ ਸਿਰੁ ਧੁਨੈ ਉਹੁ ਲਹੈ ਨ ਵੇਲਾ ।੨।

hath marorrai sir dhunai uhu lahai na velaa |2|

At the end (of life) he has jitters and lamentations but the time gone never returns.
