ਰਸਾਵਲ ਛੰਦ ॥

RASAAVAL STANZA

ਜਸੰਵਾਲ ਧਾਏ ॥

jasanvaal dhaae |

ਤੁਰੰਗੰ ਨਚਾਏ ॥

turangan nachaae |

The Raja of Jaswal rushed forward on the galloping horse.

ਲਯੋ ਘੇਰ ਹੁਸੈਨੀ ॥

layo gher husainee |

ਹਨਿਯੋ ਸਾਂਗ ਪੈਨੀ ॥੩੩॥

haniyo saang painee |33|

He surrounded Hussain and struck his sharp lance at him.33.

ਤਿਨੂ ਬਾਣ ਬਾਹੇ ॥

tinoo baan baahe |

ਬਡੇ ਸੈਨ ਗਾਹੇ ॥

badde sain gaahe |

He (Hussaini) discharged arrow and destroyed much of the army.

ਜਿਸੈ ਅੰਗਿ ਲਾਗਿਯੋ ॥

jisai ang laagiyo |

ਤਿਸੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਤਯਾਗਯੋ ॥੩੪॥

tisai praan tayaagayo |34|

He, who is struck by the arrow on his chest, he breathes his last.34.

ਜਬੈ ਘਾਵ ਲਾਗਯੋ ॥

jabai ghaav laagayo |

ਤਬੈ ਕੋਪ ਜਾਗਯੋ ॥

tabai kop jaagayo |

Whenever one is wounded, he gets highly infuriated.

ਸੰਭਾਰੀ ਕਮਾਣੰ ॥

sanbhaaree kamaanan |

ਹਨੇ ਬੀਰ ਬਾਣੰ ॥੩੫॥

hane beer baanan |35|

Then, holding his bow, he kills the warriors with arrows. 35.

ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਢੂਕੇ ॥

chahoon or dtooke |

ਮੁਖੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੂਕੇ ॥

mukhan maar kooke |

The warriors advance from all the four sides and shout “kill, kill”.

ਨ੍ਰਿਭੈ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਹੈਂ ॥

nribhai sasatr baahain |

ਦੋਊ ਜੀਤ ਚਾਹੈਂ ॥੩੬॥

doaoo jeet chaahain |36|

They strike their weapons fearlessly, both the sides wish for their victory.36.

ਰਿਸੇ ਖਾਨਜਾਦੇ ॥

rise khaanajaade |

ਮਹਾ ਮੱਦ ਮਾਦੇ ॥

mahaa mad maade |

The sons of Khans, in great ire and puffed up with great ego,

ਮਹਾ ਬਾਣ ਬਰਖੇ ॥

mahaa baan barakhe |

ਸਭੈ ਸੂਰ ਹਰਖੇ ॥੩੭॥

sabhai soor harakhe |37|

Shower the rain of arrows all the warriors are filled with anger.37.

ਕਰੈ ਬਾਣ ਅਰਚਾ ॥

karai baan arachaa |

ਧਨੁਰ ਬੇਦ ਚਰਚਾ ॥

dhanur bed charachaa |

There is spattering of arrows (in worship) and the bows seem engaged in Vedic discussion.

ਸੁ ਸਾਗੰ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲੰ ॥

su saagan samhaalan |

ਕਰੈ ਤਉਨ ਠਾਮੰ ॥੩੮॥

karai taun tthaaman |38|

Wherever the warrior wants to strike the blow, he strikes it.38.

ਬਲੀ ਬੀਰ ਰੁੱਝੇ ॥

balee beer rujhe |

ਸਮੂਹ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਜੁੱਝੇ ॥

samooh sasatr jujhe |

The brave fighters are busy in this task they are engaged in war with all their wepons.

ਲਗੈ ਧੀਰ ਧੱਕੇ ॥

lagai dheer dhake |

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣੰ ਝਨੱਕੇ ॥੩੯॥

kripaanan jhanake |39|

The warriors, with the quality of forbearance, are knocking forcefully and their swords are clattering.39.

ਕੱੜਕੈ ਕਮਾਣੰ ॥

karrakai kamaanan |

ਝਣੱਕੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣੰ ॥

jhanakai kripaanan |

The bows crackle and the swords clatter.

ਕੜੰਕਾਰ ਛੁੱਟੈ ॥

karrankaar chhuttai |

ਝਣੰਕਾਰ ਉੱਠੈ ॥੪੦॥

jhanankaar utthai |40|

The arrows, when discharged, produce knocking sound, and the weapons when struck, produce jingling sound.40.

ਹਠੀ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਝਾਰੈ ॥

hatthee sasatr jhaarai |

ਨ ਸੰਕਾ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ॥

n sankaa bichaarai |

The warriors are striking their weapons, they do not think of the impending death.

ਕਰੈ ਤੀਰ ਮਾਰੰ ॥

karai teer maaran |

ਫਿਰੈ ਲੋਹ ਧਾਰੰ ॥੪੧॥

firai loh dhaaran |41|

The arrows are being discharged and the swords are being struck. 41.

ਨਦੀ ਸ੍ਰੌਣ ਪੂਰੰ ॥

nadee srauan pooran |

ਫਿਰੈ ਗੈਣ ਹੂਰੰ ॥

firai gain hooran |

The stream of bloods is full, the houris (the heavenly damsels) are moving in the sky.

ਉਭੇ ਖੇਤ ਪਾਲੰ ॥

aubhe khet paalan |

ਬਕੇ ਬਿੱਕਰਾਲੰ ॥੪੨॥

bake bikaraalan |42|

On both sides, the warriors utter dreadful shouts.42.
