ਮਾਣਕ ਮੋਤੀ ਮਾਨਸਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨੀਰੁ ਸਥਾਉ ਸੁਹੰਦਾ ।

maanak motee maanasar niramal neer sathaau suhandaa |

Pure water, rubies and pearls adorn into the Manasarovar (lake).

ਹੰਸੁ ਵੰਸੁ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਮਤੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਥੁ ਬਣੰਦਾ ।

hans vans nihachal matee sangat pangat saath banandaa |

The family of the swans is of steadfast wisdom and they all live in groups and lines.

ਮਾਣਕ ਮੋਤੀ ਚੋਗ ਚੁਗਿ ਮਾਣੁ ਮਹਿਤੁ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਵਧੰਦਾ ।

maanak motee chog chug maan mahit aanand vadhandaa |

They enhance their prestige and delight by picking up rubies and pearls.

ਕਾਉ ਨਿਥਾਉ ਨਿਨਾਉ ਹੈ ਹੰਸਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਉਦਾਸੁ ਹੋਵੰਦਾ ।

kaau nithaau ninaau hai hansaa vich udaas hovandaa |

The crow there remains nameless, shelterless and dejected,

ਭਖੁ ਅਭਖੁ ਅਭਖੁ ਭਖੁ ਵਣ ਵਣ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭਵੰਦਾ ।

bhakh abhakh abhakh bhakh van van andar bharam bhavandaa |

The inedible it considers edible and to edible inedible, and goes on wandering from forest to forest.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਤਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹੰਦਾ ।

saadhasangat gur sabad sun tan andar man thir na rahandaa |

So long as a person listening to the word of Guru in the holy congregation does not stabilise his body and mind.

ਬਜਰ ਕਪਾਟ ਨ ਖੁਲ੍ਹੈ ਜੰਦਾ ।੧੨।

bajar kapaatt na khulhai jandaa |12|

His stony gate (of wisdom) is not unlocked.
