Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:

ਕਾਹੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥

kaahoo sang na chaalahee maaeaa janjaal |

The entanglements of Maya do not go along with anyone.

ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਖਿਆਲ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

aootth sidhaare chhatrapat santan kai khiaal | rahaau |

Even kings and rulers must arise and depart, according to the wisdom of the Saints. ||Pause||

ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਕਉ ਬਿਨਸਨਾ ਇਹ ਧੁਰ ਕੀ ਢਾਲ ॥

ahanbudh kau binasanaa ih dhur kee dtaal |

Pride goes before the fall - this is a primal law.

ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥੧॥

bahu jonee janameh mareh bikhiaa bikaraal |1|

Those who practice corruption and sin, are born into countless incarnations, only to die again. ||1||

ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਕਹਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਜਪਹਿ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥

sat bachan saadhoo kaheh nit japeh gupaal |

The Holy Saints chant Words of Truth; they meditate continually on the Lord of the Universe.

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ਲਾਲ ॥੨॥੧੧॥੨੯॥

simar simar naanak tare har ke rang laal |2|11|29|

Meditating, meditating in remembrance, O Nanak, those who are imbued with the color of the Lord's Love are carried across. ||2||11||29||
