Chaupaee

ਰਾਜੇ ਨਿਜੁ ਸੁਤ ਨਿਕਟ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ॥

raaje nij sut nikatt bulaayo |

The Raja sent for his son,

ਦਿਜਬਰ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਆਯੋ ॥

dijabar taeh sang lai aayo |

And the Brahmin brought (the son) with him.

ਪੜੋ ਪੜ︀ਯੋ ਗੁਨ ਛਿਤਪਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ॥

parro parrayo gun chhitapat kahiyo |

The Raja asked him (the son) to read and write,

ਸੁਨ ਸੁਅ ਬਚਨ ਮੋਨਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਰਹਿਯੋ ॥੨੦॥

sun sua bachan mon hvai rahiyo |20|

But Hanwant Singh remained mute.(20)
